Automation test equipment

I have developed a test equipment to test a unit which manages three power supplies and a dc electric load. These power supplies and load are controlled pragmatically by LabVIEW through R232 interface. There are five voltage and current sensors, and sixteen power relays inside the unit. Each sensors and relays operation has to be checked for the proper functioning in the system for the given command from the system(PXI) .PXI system consist of serial add -on cards and NI PXI-6229 for discrete I/Os connected to the test unit with a interface unit.inputs to UUT are serial/discrete inputs(from relay drivers). This bench level test is achieved through LabVIEW programs with simple VI’s and sub VI’s and built in drivers.
Now the requirement of the consumer goes to the next level. The above mentioned test has to be automated fully. By clicking one button the whole test has to be performed automatically in a prescribed sequence test and verify each parameter in the test case and display the result and has to written into a document report.

to start the automation of above mentioned application I searched for the tutorial and found NI teststand is suitable for this. I'm still confused about which NI application software to use and how to start them. So please help me in this and guide me how to start an basic automation.

TestStand is meant for these sort of automation requirements only.
TestStand can reuse the VI's you have already developed to call the tests and automate it.
You can install TestStand ( trail version) to try it out.
There are examples for TestStand - Labview interface examples.

Can we have two R/3 Source Systems(Dev & Test) in BW Development....?

Till now we have only BW Development box..
Our Landscape for R/3 side is R/3 Development, Testing and Production.....
Already we have connected R/3 Development with BW Development... It is working fine as now... We have finished our task at Development...
My doubt is Can we Configure R/3 Testing to BW Development....eventhough R/3 Development is already configured with BW Dev....
Can we have two R/3 Source Systems(Dev & Test) in BW Development....?
Please help me out in this issue....

Hi Kiran,
You can create second source system which will point to SAP R/3 Quality .
If you have transported all datasource activation requests to QA environment then all datasources are available in R3QA as well.
After creating source system , replicate datasources.
Only thing you need to do is to replicate efforts of assigning source system (R3QA)-> creating transfer rule -> Create info package and load data.

Transporting an object from testing client to development client

Hi,
             This is Sekhar . My question is
If i transported an object from development client to testing client .After transporting object to testing client i got a bug so that ABAP developer should work on that and how could i modify that bugs in testing client .Is it possible to modify in testing client? Is their any reverse transportation from testing client to development client?

Which is better for a designer/developer?

Hello, I do the following :
Graphic Design
Web Design/Development
Programming (Windows)
Amateur video editor (hoping to be more advanced)
I use nearly all of the Adobe programs all the time
Going to use all the advanced and basic programs I can on Mac OS X (from iMovie to Final Cut)
Become an Apple developer
And play lots of hardcore games (Crysis 3,BF3 etc.)
So should I buy a Macbook Pro (retina) or the iMac ?
I can't afford to buy a Mac Pro since I am 13 and live in Turkey so the money I get from these jobs aren't enough for that. Especially with the high prices here.
I am not a really social person so I don't really care about portability. Which one do you guys suggest ?

Definately the iMac. That is what i use for 3D design and i have never had a problem. Not to mention that iMacs provide a 21.5 or 27 inch screen, which really pays off in intricate graphic design. The iMac has a more avanced ventilation system to cool the system down. The only problem i could see with BOTH of these options is web design. Web design on a 21.5 inch screen must be designed with a 15 inch screen in mind, and designing on a retina display can become tricky when using unit sizes to size things. With either of these options, remember to use the unit "em" instead of "px" to size your elements.

Trying to run Accutest 1000 manufactured by Physical Testing Equipment with Labview

We have an Accutest 1000 which is manufactured by Physical Testing Equipment and we would like to run the equipment and gather data thru Labview.
Does Labview support this type of activity? Is there a 3rd party that would contract to set-up this configuration?

National Instruments doesn't officially support interacting with this board. Do you have more information about it? Can it communicate via serial? If so, you could try to use NI-VISA to communicate with the board.

Test Equipment for calibration

Dear Experts,
Is it necessary to create Calibration Orders against Test Equipments only ?? or we can do the same against Machines also??
As in some cases there is preventive & calibration plan against same equipment then if we create Test equipment,, there is going to be doubling of equipment??

For the same Equipment U can distinguish one is M - Machine , and Q- Test Equipment categories.
So u can do preventive maintenance and caliberations plan also

Error during usage decision for Test Equipment

Hi,
I have completed results recording for Test Equipment using QE51N (results closed and confirmation completed). When I tried to make usage decision (QA11) for the lot the pop-up message shows as "Not all equipment is valuated! Do you want to force inspection completion. I also noticed that in equipment tab of qa11 code valuation column shows as Not Valuated.
I request you to help me to solve this problem.

HI,
You may try changing the valuation mode in IA06. In the inspection characteristic overivew, click on details -> operation, scroll down, you will find Quality management inspection points -> maintain automatic valuation based on inspection points.
The changes if made will be effective only for the next inspeciton lots.

Best practices for "designer - developer" interaction in Flex Mobile

Hi,
I'm starting development of a mobile software application and Flex Mobile is the platform I've chosen for that.
What is the best practice / recommended workflow for designer-developer interaction? For example in web application the designer provides HTML/CSS templates to the developer which integrates them in the Web Application. What is the analogue in Flex Mobile? What should I request as input from the designer?
I'll appreciate any hints, links, advises or previous experience on the topic.

Error while result recording for test equipment

Dear Gurus
My scenario is to do unplanned maintenance for test equipment and recording the result.
For that I have done the following steps
1)     Created Notification for the test equipment (customized notification type TE).
2)     For that notification I created order. (customized order type TE01).
3)     Attached General maintenance task list for that order. Task list has inspection point 300.
4)     Released the order and saved. Inspection Lot is created.
5)     In QE51N / QA32 when I tried to do results recording, it shows the following error.
"Equipment VERN01 do not exist in the object list for order 4001214"
Please help me to correct this error.

I applied oss and today I got reply. When 1278254 notes is implemented it is solved.
I have one more question, now in QE51N, I did result recording and when saved it is asking for order confirmation, I have given all data and came back to the same screen. There is one more option for Valuate Inspection Point. In that I have selected Can be used option and saved. Now if I goto maintenance order and TECO the order, it is saying that A usage decision has stll to be made.
Whether I want to take UD once again in QA32 ?
Also is there any settings to TECO the notification automatically when the maintenance order is TECO'ed. Now the notification is not TECO'ed when order is TECO'ed.

Can I create 6i designer/developer tables on local 9i database

I recently installed a new 6i developer on a P4 xp pro system. The 8i database wasn't installed, but a lot of 8i files were. When I tried the same install on my home Win2000 system a fully populated 8i database was installed.
On the xp system I have a 9i personal Oracle database. Can I install the 6i designer/developer scripts on the 9i database or do I have to create an 8i database? Are there any pitfalls?
I have recieved conflicting opinions on this. I am hoping someone can confirm this - one way or the other. If possible, could you refer me to a document on how to do this.

Sorry, the documentation included with the developer software has dates of 2001. I just found the newer Nov 2003 docs on the web.

Testing a portlet developed in JDeveloper.

Dear All,
I am using JDeveloper to build the portlets with the help of PDK Software patched to JDeveloper. I want to test the portlets developed by me on the Standalone OC4J Server. Currently i dont have the access to the OracleAS application server, so i have to do all the testing on the OC4J itself.
Any little help would be of very use.
