Test for Stream Without Sending to Sound Card?

Is there a way to verify that Adobe Flash Player is actually transmitting a stream without sending the stream to the sound card?
I want to test whether there is an active stream in a ms-dos batch program.
I am running WinXP SP3, Firefox 12.0 or Internet Explorer 8.0, Adobe Flash Player 11.
TIA.

Thank you for the suggestion.  Unfortunately, the free version of NetLimiter only lets you observe the traffic, not limit it.
I'm not quite ready to purchase the Pro version of the application that may not work for me.
Basically, I am trying to find an automated way to switch from a backup radio source to my primary source if the primary radio source is working.  Also, I want to confirm that the primary source is working without having two stations playing concurrently.  Additionally, I don't want to switch back to the primary radio source if it is still down.  The switching part is easy, but not sniffing (without playing) the primary source.
Unfortunately, as far as I know,  Adobe Flash Player doesn't provide a means for selecting an alternate audio output.
Is there another application that allows sniffing of Adobe Flash Player audio without also playing the audio to the live audio output?

How do I sign up for Itunes without using a credit card?

    Take a look here:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is  critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps,  iTunes U content or podcasts without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

  • Microphone calibratrion for dB reading from pc sound card?

We are trying to acquire a sound signal from a regular laptop sound card into labview, and obtain a sound intensity reading and a frequency reading. Through FFT we are able to acquire the strongest signal, but the dB readings are all over the map. Using a sound generator we were able to conclude the frequency readings were indeed correct, but the sound intensity was way off, and non-repeatable. So what I'm looking to know is if it is possible to calibrate the mic within labview or to read in a sound level measurement in dB with a regular PC mic and sound card. Even if it was a gain measurement, how do set the baseline for 0 dB? Please help!
    thanks

A computer sound card is simply a low cost audio input/output. Low cost means that it has usually no calibration options at all, and even if it had, Windows would not know how to access it and even less so allow an application to use it through a known API.
So you have to do your calibration yourself in software. The way that works is to apply a known signal, measure the sound signal in Volts and then calculate a calibrarion function that translates those Volt into the dB you know you have applied. Additional problems could be that the analog path on your sound card is good enough for the human ear, but totally useless for measurement purposes, since the amplifier transfer function is anything but constant over the frequency range. Also sound measurements with cheap microphones is another big problem, since those microphones are at best a guessimator, but no accurate measurement device.
Basically you have to do the calibration repeatedly at the same frequency and also at various frequencies too, in order to see if the microhone is actually useful at all (repeatability of calibration value at the same frequency), as well as reasonaby constant over the frequency range for both the mic and the sound card.
With most standard sound cards none of this is a given, and unless you also use a really good microphone, even the most accurate sound card can't do much for you.

  • How to pay for icloud? I no longer trust apple with my credit card. How can we pay for icloud without using a credit card?

Having had recently a problem with my credit card with itunes (the only place I ever used that particular card), and several fraudulent charges, I no longer wish to give my credit card information to itunes or any other apple outfit. Can we pay for icloud by cheque, or money order, or some other way, perhaps a bank account where I would leave just enough money to cover the payment. This would be the only I would pay for icloud. Please let me know. thanks.

  • How can I pay for photoshop CC without using a credit card?

My son is paying for CC without using a credit card, The subscription is being taken from his bank account/debit card, I was told this wasn't possible by an adobe rep. Is it possible?
Adobe told me everyone that has a subscription must have a credit card to pay.

A debit card, if it can be used as a credit card, can be used to pay for anything online. If he's using his debit card to pay for his CC account then it is possible. The rep may have just been referring to using a checking account being a method that isn't possible.
He needs to stop using his debit card to pay for anything online as debit cards are unsecured so if someone were to acquire the card number they could clear out his checking account and your son would be unable to do anything about it.

  • Multiple sound cards and FP sessions

I would like to provide multiple channels of AOL Radio to my
company's telephone music-on-hold. My Windows XP workstation has an
M-Audiio Delta 1010LT audio card with 4 integrated sound cards. In
Windows Control Panel -> “Sounds & Audio
Devices’ all 4 "cards" are shown and I can set any of them to
the default audio device. An AOL Radio stream will use the default
"card". If I open 2, 3, or 4 sessions, they *ALL* are
simultaneously streamed to the default sound "card" – not the
desired behavior! I can select any one of the 4 “cards”
and assign it as default and as many AOL Radio Flash Player
sessions that are running will stream to that default "card". Thus
all four “cards” can render an audio stream.
My question is this, Is there a mechanism to pair FP sessions
    with specific sound “cards”?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

    Hi,
It's hard to say what the cause is of your problem.  It may be that LabVIEW is looking at the default sound card in your system and ignores the rest.  This may happen if you are using the Play sound VIs.
The way to achieve two outputsis by opening up the WAV
file and use the Snd Write Waveform VI. One of the inputs for this VI
is the device number. Usually they start at 0 and increment by one. You
can have a VI where you open the 2 files and then use 2 write waveform
    vis using different device numbers.
    You can get all the
information about the soundcards by calling the Windows SDK, however
this can take some work and may be easier to do it in a DLL.
Are you using the Sound and Vibration Toolkit?  If so what version?  What sound cards are you using and what version of Windows are you using?

  • Alsa does not select correct sound card. SOLVED

I have onboard sound and do not have any additional sound cards installed. Alsa detects two soundcards, but for some reason seems to prefer the one that doesn't work. I am honestly not sure what the other audio device is; I do not have a second sound card installed, nor a modem or a PC speaker or any other audio device that I know of. It has always been that way, and I didn't look into it any deeper than that. I have been using Arch Linux for a about four years and the audio has worked flawlessly until I re-installed a few days ago.
For reference, the HDA NVidia sound card is the one I want to output sound. The non-working one is Conexant CX8801.
    My symptoms are as follows:
    $ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC883 Analog [ALC883 Analog]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: ALC883 Digital [ALC883 Digital]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
    # cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [CX8801 ]: CX88x - Conexant CX8801
    Conexant CX8801 at 0xf9000000
    1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfe024000 irq 23
As you can see, the Conexant CX8801 (the wrong card) takes the index 0 position.
My usual alsa setup routine is to run the alsaconf script. The alsaconf script edits /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf for me, where it should explicitly identify the HDA NVidia card as index 0. In the sound.conf below, alsaconf generated the first two lines. I wrote the third line as a course of troubleshooting, but it still does not work.
    $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf
#THESE LINES WERE GENERATED BY ALSACONF SCRIPT
    alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
    alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
#THIS LINE WAS GENERATED BY ME
    option snd-hda-intel index=0
    $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
    # /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf (for v2.6 kernels)
    # NOTICE THERE ARE NO CONFIGURATIONS IN THIS FILE. EMPTY.
I am by no means an alsa guru, so that's why I've enlisted the help of the forums. Tell me, what am I forgetting? What don't I know?

    Install asoundconf http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23382
    do
    asoundconf list
to find out the correct name, then do
    asoundconf set-default-card bla
    to set the default card.
asoundconf creates a ~/.asoundrc.asoundconf and sets an include for that fil in ~/.asoundrc

  • Quality sound cards with good linux support

Since my Auzentech XFI forte is doomed on linux according to most of the internet (if you have one and made it work then please  PLEASE tell me how ) I'm gonna need a new one. Onboard sound just doesn't cut it anymore for me.
What I'm looking for is a good quality sound card that works perfectly on linux and isn't too expensive.
I don't care about 5.1 or 7.1, I mostly use headphones so high quality stereo output is of most importance.
Are there any sound card manufacturers that have some love for linux?
How are the Asus Xonar cards. I've read good reviews about them but I know nothing about how they work on linux.

I had an M-Audio Delta 1010lt once that had studio quality sound, linux support is good on the entire delta series.

  • Which Sound Cards Have Coax SPD

I am looking for a very cheap 5. sound card that has a SPDIF coax output.

I cant belei've this, it seems the only way to get basic coax spdif support through creative is to buy a $300+ card with rediculous features that no-one needs. or buy an hideous add on for the cards that should already have a coax SPDIF as standard.
Id be better off to shell out $300 on a high end motherboard that manages to squeeze in a coax SPDIF jack amongst all of the other things it provides.
I dont think Creative will last very long using theyre current business strategies to try and make consumers pay more. lol they already have a bad rep because of theyre realtime Dolby Digital patent, preventing onboard soundcards from implementig it.

  • Recommendation for good sound card for test & measurem

There are quite a lot sound card based oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator softwares, such as multi-instrument?. An ordinary?sound card?can only measurement signal within 20Hz~20000Hz range (with flat frequency response),? I would appreciate it very much if anyboday here could recommend a sound card that can extend the above frequency range as?wider as possible, towards both the lower end and higher end.

Such software is pure bullhit, because every soundcard has its flaws, wich will render the results unuseable. And the next point: most soundcard- drivers and the OS itself are changing the signal in a different manner. Maybe vollume boost, or reverb effects, some signal changing to get better results in terms of audio quality and signal clarity, and so on. Get a Oscilloscope. Maybe you will need to sell your house for a good one, but this is the only good solution ^^?The best soundcard for this purpose is not a real soundcard, but a recording card. There are some expensi've models out there, especially terratec or EMU. (I dont know really if EMu is selling REAL recording cards)Message Edited by fffcmad on 0-5-20082:24 PM
