How do I fix this? Delete the machine? Reinstall HCK server?

Is this your cohntroller? If hck manager is hanging, can you verify that MSSQLSERVER service is running, and you have admin privileges on the datastore, etc?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

IMac screen goes black after 1+ hours of use and we can't get out of this.

I have a mid-2007 iMac. When anyone is on the computer for approximately 1-1.5 hours, the screen goes black and we cannot get out of this. There are no time restrictions or power-saver settings on. Can anyone help me with this issue?

You cannot do anything with the iPad until you do as instructed by the iPad and connect to iTunes on a computer.
You probably need to restore the iPad and the only way to do that is via iTunes on a computer.
Take it to an Apple Store and ask for help at a Genius bar or take it to a friend's house that is running iTunes on their computer and try to restore it.
You will lose all of your data and settings now because you never backed the iPad up in the past.

I upgraded to Mavericks and my iMac monitor goes black randomly, but my attached cinema monitor stays active. I can fix it by putting it to sleep and waking it up again. But often it happens immediately after.

I have a 30in cinema display attached to my iMac and the iMac screen randomly goes black while the cinema stays active. I can put it to sleep and log back in which fixes it, but often it happens again immediately after. Sometimes it happens so quickly I can't even finishing logging in! Wanted to update you on my situation with this.
So far 8 hours have gone by and I have not had a screen blackout.
FIRST I did the Hardware Test. TWICE on the extended test, the instructions on the KB Article explain. It took almost 3 hours, but while the test was running, both times, my computer screen did not go black.
I did get an error message, both times. Different each time. I looked up both of the error messages on discussion boards. Lots of conflicting info
One good thread said my first error was that my hard drive was bad and would probably fail.
The next error message I researched said that a fan was bad or needed replacement.
(information comes from other folks on discussion boards, not from Apple or technician)
Not sure what exactly those 2 error messages indicate but I followed a thread where someone found a solution by doing the following. So far it's worked.
After Hardware Test I did a shutdown and an SMC resest. Unplugged computer power source from wall and computer for about 10 minutes.
Finally after a restart I downloaded "SMC Fan Control" (CNET Downloads has a nice safe copy you can download)
There is a temperature monitor and from what I've read so far, keeping the CPU temperature under 50˚C is ideal. Making sure your fans and computer is in a well ventilated area/room too of course.
The SMC Fan Control helps you set your own speeds on the fans and so far everything has been going normal.

T500 LCD goes black when plugged in

As the Title says I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T500 model, and I've had it for going on two years now with no problems, that is until now. The problem is whenever i plug in my Laptop to the power cord the screen goes black after flickering for a few moments, you can kind of see the screen but barely.
I sent my laptop into the factory where they told me it would cost about $950 to fix a cracked LCD, which I would much rather fix myself for $100, but I do not think that a cracked LCD panel would make my PC go black only when the power cord is plugged in. Especially since the LCD Panel has been cracked much longer than my computer has been doing this.
I haven't really seen much on google searches about this problem, but I'm prone to believe it's a hardware problem, perhaps a short somewhere, but I doubt it's the LCD panel. Anyways what I'm wondering is, could there be something, other than a cracked LCD, that would make my laptop do this? Thanks any advice will do!

The main difference for the LCD between unplugged and plugged in is the refresh rate. By default the unplugged refresh rate is 50 Hz and plugged in it changes to 60 Hz. The switch between modes causes a black screen for a second while the display settings are updated. Power Manager is the software that manages this (there is an option for it in Power Manager). If you want to experiment with things you could try turning this option off in power manager. You could also try manually changing the display refresh rate in the advanced display settings. It seems possible that the cracked/damaged screen could cause it to be unable to work properly on the 60 Hz setting.

When On Hold Screen Goes Black

O.K., the last hour I've been on hold with an on-line travel site without reaching a live person. The problem is my Droid 4 went black after a few minutes. The call remained connected but there was no way to activate the screen without ending the call by pressing the phone activate button which cuts off the call. None of the other buttons worked. With some companies phone customer service wait times 30 minutes or better not being able to get back to the home screen without cutting off the call is a real problem. Is there a setting I should change/use to keep this from happening? BTW, the on-line TA hung up after an hour of having me wait for a CS rep without getting one, so I'm not having a great evening.

Thanks! I went to Accessibility and took off the Power Button ends call but the screen still goes black and there is no way to reactivate the screen. I also checked the accessibility settings for other options but there isn't anything that would allow me to see the screen after it goes black. I've set "show dialpad settings" to All Calls but it still goes black.

Macbook pro Keyboard and screen going black, not responding

I have a mac book pro, 15 '', bought april 2012, since two days ago, while i am using it the screen and keyboard are going black, and they don't respond, but i can still listen to music. It only respond if I force the shut down. Help!

Edit screen won't show me my pictures to edit. Full screen goes black.

My first mac. Trying to import pictures from my external drive (FAT32) I imported all my photos, all looks fine, however, when I try to edit one, It takes me to the edit screen with all the photos in the event on top, but it doesn't show the photo I'm trying to edit. I even tried to look at photos fullscreen, and I get the black screen with the top and bottom bars, but no photo on the screen, and after a second, it just all goes black. Interesting thing though, is that I can play a slide show. Has anyone ever had this issue, any help for this newb will be greatly appreciated.

It could be a permissions thing. Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the option to repair permission of the library.
Post back with the results.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

When FireFox is started, get flash of boxes white and then sceen goes black. Says at top " Search - Mozilla Firefox " No taskbar just all black.

Trying to help friend. They returned from vacation. When she tried to start FireFox, the only thing it shows is a black screen. I updated her version and tried. Same result. Ininstalled FireFox from "My Computer. Downloaded FireFox and installed. Again same result. FireFox starts but after a very bried second where it show 2 blank boxes then the screen goes black. The only thing showing is the Search - Mozilla Firefox at the top left. There are nothing else to open or see.

Try starting Firefox in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when double-clicking the icon.
If that helps, try disabling hardware graphics acceleration in case there is a graphics driver incompatibility.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

To solve most of iPhone os problems you can perform a soft reset which will not change anything inside the phone
It'll simply remove the errors
To do that
1.Hold power button for 5 seconds
2.without releasing power button press home button and keep both pressed till the apple logo comes up
3.Now release both buttons
Your phone has now been reset

I am assuming the phone was working prior to you installing IOS 6? Did you use itunes to install IOS 6 or just run from the phone?
When I tried to do the Over The Air update to IOS6 on my iPhone 4, it errored out and I had to connect it to iTunes and select "Restore" from the summary screen after iTunes finds the phone is connected. If this works for you, it will go through a couple of reboots that take a few minutes to complete. It should then give you the option to start with a fresh new phone or to use one of your previous backups to load your contacts and other information, provided you have backed up the phone previously.

Make Sure iOS is updated to the latest version
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

Screen Goes Black and Hangs when browsing by Artist, Album, Song, etc.

I'm having a fairly huge issue with Front Row:
I can play video files (although their is a moment of hangtime between selecting a video and the video actually playing) and music files (if I choose the "Shuffle Songs" option), however, when I choose to browse my music by artists, albums, songs, genres, etc. my screen goes black and stays that way until I hit CMD+Q over and over until it finally quits. Furthermore, when I do play music via "Shuffle Songs" and quit out of Front Row, the music continues to play in the background and cannot be stopped, paused, etc.
Is there anyone out there who can help me fix this? I love Front Row and use it all the time and it would be a shame not to be able to anymore..

I have a similar problem. When browsing music the screen goes to black or just freezes on whatever was beeing displayed for maybe 30 seconds to a minute before continuing. It happens quite often. I am running the latest version of Front Row on a brand new Mac Mini. I have a very large iTunes music folder (about 830 gigabytes of uncompressed AIFF files) running on an external FW800 drive. I tried repairing permissions and a number of Front Row and a few iTunes files appear in the list. However, when I run repair permissions again, the same files are still listed so obviously if they need to be repaired, it's not happening. I tried repairing the volume (no problems found) and repairing permissions from the Install disc but the result was identical.
