Test Machine

Hi,
Im installing a new machine to test upgrades ant patches to intall later on my actually operative SAP busniness one. But I have a problem, I need a license key to run SAP Business one on my test machine.
Could I have two license keys, one for my test one and the other in the operative one ?
Best regards.
Antonio.

Dear Gordon,
I have open the port 30000 in my operational SAP Business One server,  but when I try to access from my test machine where I have installed the other SAP server introducing the ip address where the license is, it cant fint it.  Any idea ?
Regards.

    Hello,
On my test machine I have Business Objects Planning 11.20.1277.0 and yesterday everything worked fine, but today I can't get any work done.
    Error message I get
    - System.Exception: Error while invoking member:ManagedIint1 - Specified primary system PlanningTest is invalid or improperly configured
    Any ideas?
    thanks in advance,

First, make sure you have at least these versions of the Airport software:
107795- AirPort Card: When You Can Join a WPA Network
Then read this article about set-up, including WPA Enterprise:
107921- AirPort for Mac OS X 10.3 or later: Using different types of wireless security (WEP and WPA)
"For a school or business, WPA Enterprise can provide each user with unique credentials. WPA Enterprise uses the same security as WPA Personal, but with the added measure of individual usernames and passwords (WPA Personal uses a shared password). Each wireless base station communicates with a RADIUS server to authenticate the user's credentials."

  • Changing primary user (in a test machine)

People,I have a NT4 machine with 2 cubes. Essbase 5.0.2.I want to test in another machine, Essbase 6.5 under Windows 2000.I installed a D: drive so I have the exact storage as my NT4 production machine, but that first user we create I named different from production, say ADMIN in prod and SKY in test. Now I was told to copy essbase.sec from prod to test (to have all 300+ users and filters and so on), but since the users are different, they told me I'm going to have problems. Is that right ?ps.: I also read in Installation Guide that this copy of SEC file is not recommended or supported by Hyperion. So, how do you do this task ?Thank you, Orlando.

    John, thanks for your reply.
I think the correct behavior should be like what you said, but in my side, I always saw an error message when I prompt the plan unit to the next owner(I defined the next owner as a group with two users) automatically.
Since I am using a Chinese version of EPM11.1.2.0, I don't know the exact error message in English, from my understanding, it should be "Failed: automatic user is unclear".
is this a bug in EPM11.1.2.0? do I need a patch?
I am new to the process management feature, please tell me if I missed something.

  • Is anybody using ComponentWorks to control an MTS/MicroConsole 458 testing machine?

Would like to correspond with anyone using the old MTS machines to do testing of concrete and pavement. Specifically the Creep and Sygma-Y tests using Visual Basic and ComponentWorks (1.1 on my end). Would especially like to know if anyone has replaced the MicroConsole/MicroProfiler with custom hydraulics control(s).

The first thing I'd say is that a restart may not be necessary.  I have in the past installed LabVIEW development environment and when asked I said I would restart later.  Then I opened LabVIEW and started coding.  I'm not sure what it thinks it needs to restart for but it may not be required.
The other thing I'd like to mention is that LabVIEW 7.1 and older can run EXEs without needing to install a run time engine.  So it is possible to build a EXE in 7.1, then include some files and DLLs in the same directory as the EXE, and when it is ran it will use them.  There's probably issues with talking to DAQ devices without MAX and I have no idea how you address this but it is another possibility.
Of course you already know the best answer and that is to reboot the system when most convenient.

If you are trying restore database without recovery catalog you must restore controlfile wich are cataloged whole database and archivelog (backupset) necessary for this restore.
Also you can use recovery catalog to restore/recovery database, but at moment of open database resetlogs you should connect only on target database e.g rman target / nocatalog, because it's will generate a new incarnation of database, as it's a test it can cause mishmash in your future backups/restore.

  • Testing plugin in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro

    Hi,
I am trying to use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro to test a plug-in I have created.
I have previous loaded and tested this plug-in in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended and it works.
Is there something I need to do to load this plug-in in Acrobat 9.0 Pro?
    Thanks,
    Jesse Perry

    Bernd,
I have a test box with Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended installed which I have used for testing with this plug-in for 3 months. I developed this code using Visual Studio 2005. The plug-in works on this system. I loaded Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro on another test machine and copied the same plugin to the plug_ins directory of this machine from the Pro Extended plug_ins directory on the previous machine. When I start Acrobat 9.0 Pro, I don't see the menu that I created for the plug-in as I do on the original test machine.
Is it wrong to test it on a different machine from where it was compiled?

  • Report using charts not work on non-development machine

    Post Author: ftsoft
    CA Forum: .NET
using visual studio report uses charts.  works fine on development machine when I move the web app to a test machine which does NOT contain visual studio, the chart report does not worknote: other reports which only display data records work fine. the space where the charts should be displayed contain the following two lines CrystalReportViewer - CrystalReportViewer1 Error: Fail to render the page.  any help would be appreciated

    Solution suggested worked for me.
On my test server Crystal was trying to use the c:\temp directory to write the temporary images, my report always ran ok on the test server.  On the live server CRW was running under with the ASPNET account and / or my own user account.
I ran FileMon and filtered on the aspnet_wp.exe process across both servers and ran the application up to the point of generating the issue.  The FileMon output from the test server showed no issues we as the output from FileMon off the live server showed an access denied message.
I gave access right to the relevant accounts on the relevant folders on the live server and the report ran fine.

  • How do I set up an emulator for testing my application?

I'm starting to wade into GPIB and cannot seem to find the best way to continue given all the components (not meaning ActiveX) required to assemble a semi-reliable development and testing environment for beta rollouts.
I have set up my design environment. Now I need a way to emulate some of the equipment I will be developing for so that I may test my apps before final testing on the actual equipment (which I obviously have no access to at this point).
Given that.. am I correct in understanding that LabView or IVI allows this type of functionality? If so, here are my specific questions regarding development:
    1) Do I currently need any hardware or can the GPIB device list be populated from IVI/LabView emula
tors? In other words... how do I make the 'link' between these two technologies?
    2) Can IVI/LabView run on the same machine as my test application, or is a secondary machine required?
    3) Is there a general punch list of software (LabView, etc.) I might need in order to get this going?
    4) Any general (or specific) overviews that may help me get over this hump would be greatly appreciated.
    Charles

Whether or not you are able to simulate your hardware will depend on what method you are using to program it. If you are programming the instrumentation directly using the GPIB ActiveX control or GPIB calls directly you will not have the ability to do simulate in software. If you are using an instrument driver, however, you will be able to do simulation if the instrument driver is IVI compliant.
Assuming that you are using an IVI-compliant instrument driver, here are the answers to your questions:
    1. You do not need any hardware whatsoever. You can either specify to use simulation in your code by using the InitWithOptions functionality and specifying "SIMULATE=TRUE" in the option string parameter. You can also set things up externally so that you can alter simulation strictly through the IVI configuration so that your code doesn't have to change.
    2. It will run on the same machine as your code. As far as your application is concerned, it will not appear any differently however no GPIB communication will occur.
    3. IVI compliant instrument drivers for all of the GPIB hardware you are using. These are available for download from ni.com.
    4. I think that there may be some IVI-related application notes.
Assuming that you are not using an IVI-compliant instrument driver and instead are either using a non-IVI instrument driver or making GPIB calls directly, things can get a little more elaborate. If you want full emulation capability you'll need to write another piece of software that emulates your device. This can be done in LabVIEW or any other ADE of your choice. What you'll need is a second GPIB card (to act as your device) that you'll cable to from your main computer. That card can live in a second machine or in the same one as your main application. You may want to put it in a separate test machine just to keep things a little cleaner.
If you go with this approach, it's not too difficult to write an emulator for a single device (or at least that functionality of a device that you use) per GPIB card. It will be more difficult to write an emulator that emulates multiple devices using a single GPIB card. In other words, you may want to use a separate GPIB card for each instrument you want to emulate. I wrote such an emulator some time ago but can't seem to find it. In any case, it's probably only a couple of days effort.
To make a long story short, your life will be a lot easier if you have IVI-compliant instrument drivers available for the hardware that you are using.

  • SSDT: Creation of localDB instances from project file - Sql Server Unit testing purposes

I have a SqlServer Database Project in my solution (VS2013 Professional) which has a corresponding test project with some stored procedure unit tests. Currently I am using a LocalDB and as far as I understand a local database instance is created in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft
SQL Server Local DB\Instances\Projects and the specific .mdf file referenced in the SQL Server Object Explorer is in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\SSDT\[ProjectName]. The unit tests run fine on my local machine which I have developed
    the project on.
My issue is we have a box which is configured to check out the project file from our version control, build the project using ms build commands and then run the unit tests using VSTest.Console. Usually with C# Test projects we reference the test project
dll and the unit tests run fine. I have referenced the dll for the test project with the stored procedure unit tests in.
With the Stored Procedure unit tests however we get this exception:
Initialization method [project].[spTest].TestInitialize threw exception. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 50 - Local Database Runtime error occurred. The specified LocalDB instance does not exist.
After some digging I have realised that the localdb instance seems to be created when the project itself is created in VS not when it is built. Specifically when the localdb is first used and if you look into the appData folder of the test machine there
is no corresponding mdf file for the project.
The question is is there a way to set up a localDB instance on the new machine if all you have the project file? The only purpose of the project on the test machine is to run the unit tests, no other development purposes. VS2013 Professional is installed
on the test machine but a solution only using config file changes or MSBuild/VSTest commands would be preferable.
I realise you could change the connection string to an actual test database and run the unit tests of that but we quite like the localdb approach for the testing. I also realise that you could potentially transfer the mdf file (haven't tested this solution)
as well, though I would prefer if there is a solution to my initial question.

I have been reading up on LocalDB and I assume a automatic LocalDB is created when you create a sql server database project (ie on localdb first use). I have tried adding the database creation to the test project config file but do not really know where
to go from there. The second link does not really specify when the named localdb will be created if you add the config items and I am not even sure if that is an actual solution.  Here's my test project config file for reference

Thanks in advance for any response. Sorry if there is any misunderstanding, while I have been using VS to develop from the start, this is the first time I have used a Sql Server Database Project.

Yes, you can create a LocalDB instance manually. You use the SqlLocalDb utility, see here:

  • Machines cannot PXE boot using SCCM 2012 DP

There are a lot of posts about PXE boot, but I can't find the common thread to tie them all together.  My test machines cannot PXE boot.
My lab environment is very simple:
    10.10.0.0/24 subnet
    10.10.0.10 = W2k8 R2 DC, DHCP, DNS
    10.10.0.11 = SCCM2012 (on W2k8R2 with SQL Server 2008 SP3 and CU4)
All machines are Hyper-V virtual machines connecting through the same virtual network.
Setup the PXE service from DP properties.  I let SCCM install WDS.  WDS in Server Manager does not have a server node, but the WDS service is running.  DP PXE tab is configured as follows:
"Enable PXE support for clients" is checked
"Allow this distribution point to resond to incoming PXE requests" is checked
"Enable unknown computer support" is checked
"Require a password when computers use PXE" is not checked
"User device affinity" is set to "Allow user device affinity with automatic approval"
PXE is configured to respond on all network interfaces
The PXE server response delay is 0 seconds
The DHCP server has options configured as follows:
    Option 66: 10.10.0.11
    Option 67: smsboot\x86\wdsnbp.com
Both DP and MP on SCCM server are configured for HTTP.
Both x86 and x64 boot images have been distributed to DP.  The media was updated after PXE was enabled on the DP.
Both x86 and x64 boot images have "Deploy this image from the PXE service point" enabled on the Data Source tab of their properties.
I have tried both unknown computer task sequence and a computer import task sequence (old computer association).  They all end in abortpxe.com
Complete PXE response is as follows:

I've been hammering this for about 10 hours now (or to be honest, it's been hammering me) and it must be something very simple I'm missing.  I have a feeling that I'm doing something I used to do in 2007 and whatever that is, it does not work in
    2012.
If I connect using boot media, Task Sequences execute perfectly.

Those options are fine when using DHCP options. They must be configured right because ConfigMgr does send a reply to the client ("abortpxe"). It basically tells you that ConfigMgr knows the MAC address and/or SMBIOSGUID of the client, but cannot find
    a deployment for it.
Just find ResourceID 16777218 in the console (you might have to add the ResourceID column) and double check if there's an deployment available (properties of the client with resourceID 16777218).

find ResourceID 16777218 in the console (you might have to add the ResourceID column) and double check if there" was the trick to finding the computer in Config Manager. Thanks for all of your help

  • MyPlugin is not loading in Upgrade flow in some machine.

    Hi ,
I have created a Plugin which works in both Reader 9 and X.
In most of the test machine MyPlugin  appears in Toolbar Panel(Reader X and Reader 9) for both Fresh install and Upgrade install of MyProduct.
In some test machine MyPlugin  appears in Toolbar Panel(Reader X and Reader 9) for only Fresh install and not in Upgrade install of MyProduct.
When i open a Reader document i wont see MyPlugin in Toolbar Panel, after upgrading from previous version to new version of MyProduct.
I compared the registry entries of fresh install of new version of MyProduct and also upgrade install from previous version to new version of MyProduct everything is same.
I even checked for the MyPlugin.api file in this location "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\plug_ins", its there for both fresh install and upgrade install.
When i saw the EventViewer after upgrading from previous version to new version, i am getting the below "Side-by-Side" Error message
"Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\plug_ins\MyPlugin.api". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="wi n32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis."
Previously i was getting similar Error on fresh install also then i added "Microsoft.VC90.CRT" and "Microsoft.VC90.MFC" with as Redistributables to MyProduct. Then it was working fine.
Now i am getting similar Error for Upgrade.
Please SomeOne help me out to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chetan.

  • My Adobe Reader Plugin does not Load in Some Machines

    Hi ,
I have created a Plugin for Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X.
As per the licence it has to work with both the version.
My plugin gets loaded in Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X versions only in development machines and few of the testing machines and My plugin works fine in these machine as per the task it has to do.
I tried to test My plugin in some machines which has same configuration as that of the machines where My plugin was able to load, but i could see My plugin loaded only in some machines and all other machine its not getting loaded.
Please some one let me know why is this happening and how to overcome this. I think i am missing something to load My Plugin but in some machines i was able to load My plugin without doing any settings other than copying My plugin's .api file to Reader Plugin's folder.
Thanks in advance. Please some one help me out.

    Hi Irosenth ,
I was getting the below error when i saw the EventViewer.
Error : Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins\MyPlugin.api". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",typ e="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
Now i added the required Redistributables while packing all the files and tested it in target machine..
All is Well Now..., Thanks you Very Much. ...
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Testing Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on Windows 7

I'm trying to install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on our Windows 7 test machine to make sure everything works. When installing I keep getting an "invalid serial number" even though I'm using the correct serial number. I've tried copying it from the DVD and runnng it from the desktop and I'm still having the same issues. The install is being ran under Administrator permissions. We are testing under the RC version of Windows 7.

I've been really surprised by the number of people who take the time to post derogatory or completely unhelpful responses.
I'm currently working through the issues with Adobe Acrobat support as well and they have been very helpful in getting this tested on Windows 7 RC. Once I work everything out through them I'll post the resolution here so everyone can benefit.

  • Copy a compiled DBXML from one Linux machine to another Linux machine?

    Hello
I am currently preparing two Linux machines for a DBXML application. One machine is for testing and the other for production. They are almost identical:
    Test machine:
    >
    root@jumasiri:~# uname -a
    Linux jumasiri 2.6.29.6 #2 Mon Aug 17 01:31:42 CDT 2009 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
    root@jumasiri:~# gcc --version
    gcc (GCC) 4.3.3
    root@jumasiri:/etc# mount
    /dev/root on / type ext2 (rw,errors=continue)
... (some lines left out for clarity)
    >
    Production machine
    >
    root@jumasiri:/etc/udev/rules.d# uname -a
    Linux jumasiri 2.6.29.6-smp #2 SMP Mon Aug 17 00:52:54 CDT 2009 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
    root@jumasiri:/etc/udev/rules.d# gcc --version
    gcc (GCC) 4.3.3
    root@jumasiri:/etc# mount
    /dev/root on / type ext3 (rw,errors=continue,data=ordered)
... (some lines left out for clarity)
    /dev/hda3 on /usr/local type ext3 (rw)
    /dev/hda4 on /home type ext3 (rw)
    >
As you can see the test machine has everything mounted on 1 partition only, whereas the production uses several. The test machine has a ext2 filesystem and the production machine ext3 filesystems. The dbxml binaries and libraries are installed in /usr/local/dbxml on both machines. The databases are installed somewhere in /home/koen/.
I've compiled dbxml succssfully on both machines, but ran into severe compilation problems on the production machine when compiling Xerces. Instead of digging and solving into the problem I have simply copied the successful compilation of the test machine to the production machine. Everything seems to work.
My question is very simple. Can one do that, copying one compilation to another machine with the same OS but with a different filesystem?
    Thank you
    Koen

    Hello
Thank you. One can never be sure enough, isn't it? For your information, the copy is running fine. My question was more related to the file system. As we don't know the inner workings of dbxml, we can never tell if the knowledge of type of file system is used internally.
    Bye
    Koen
