Test Plan creation in Solutoin manager Production

Hi
We have the Solution and Blue print updated in the Solman production System.  The test system is quite old and does not have the update Solutoin or the Blue print .  As we have updated Testcases & processes in production system, we would like to create a test plan (using test organizer) directly in the production system.  But the system is not allowing creation of test plan in Productoin and system is expecting us to create in test and transport to Produciton.  As we do not have the updated process/solution in the test, the creation of test plan in Test has no meaning and cannot be used.  What is the way out to resolve our problem.  Also guide us the procedure to create test plans directly in Produciton system and highlight us if there is signifcant impact.
Regards
Srini

Hi Srini
You are asking why it is not possible to do directly in solman production
the answer is same if you ask for ECC PRD or BI PRD why we have 3 tier landscape simply because PRD is not a test system or training system all the configuration development happen in ECC/BI dev then we move the request to QA for testing
Samething if you create a Test Plan in Solution Manager PRD where you expect to do the testing for your configuration.
Moreover where are you planning to train your Actual Tester's who will use your Test Plan.
Last you have to open the client for changes to happen in PRD do you think is it correct it ?
Hope I have explained or clarified your doubt

    Hi Namrata,
Yes, you can create project structure before using solar01 tcode. later once your test cases (either manual or automatic) are ready then you can upload them using solar02 on test cases tab,
refer Link Test Case to Transactions/Reports - Configuration - SAP Library
Assignments - SAP Solution Manager - SAP Library

    Hi Team,
I have maintained the interface scenarios in SOALR01. This "Interface Scenario" is the standard node in Solution Manager like "Organizational Units", "Master Data" & "Business Scenarios". But in STWB_2 (Test Plan Creation), the interface scenarios are not listed for selection.
Can anyone please let me know the reason?
Note: I am using Sol Man 7.0

  • UCS pre-production test plan from cisco

    Hi,
Is there a pre-production tests plan from cisco to validate that a new UCS setup is A-OK?
I found some stuff on google. But nothing from cisco.
    Thanks for any help.
    Stephane.

    Hi Stephanie,
I am unaware of a particular pre-production test plan from Cisco to validate UCS setup but I do believe that Advanced Services is available in this regard, to assist. However, I suspect that this is not the level that you are requesting.
    Thanks.

Check out the SCM Process Manufacturing discussion forum which you can find off of the E-Business Suite forum level. I think that's what you're looking for.

  • Solution Manager: Creating test plan - no test cases uploaded show up

    Hi,
I am attempting to create test plans that include all the test case documents that I uploaded to the system.  Unfortunately, when I upload the documents, check them out and then in again, and then go to stwb_2 to create a test plan, the documents do not show up in the test plan structure.
Why is this and is there someway to make the documents show up?
    Thank you!

  • Sol Man Test Plan protection

    Dear All,
I am workig with Sol Man 4.0. I have created the test plan in STWB_2.
Now in "Attributes" option,  in top menu , under "Test Plan" option, i am protecting the test plan.
Now, i want control, except me, no one should able to "Remove protection".
    How to control this?
    Which authorization object controls this?
I have given only "DISPLAY" authorization for test plan. But  still the user can do "remove the protection"
    Please help me on this?
    Thanks
    Kumar

    Hi Senthil,
Your question is a valid one, but I am not sure how many may have explored these nuanced requirements so far, in their projects.
So, if you have a Sandbox SolMan environment you can perhaps try to enact the following and if it works you can try in the productive environment.
I am not sure if there exists a separate authorisation to prevent deletion, but there does seem to exist a functionality that prevents 'display' to users unless the document belongs to certain 'status' that you predefine.
Authorization for the activity READ(33) in the authorization object S_IWB, is checked if the role SAP_SOL_RE_COMP is used.
From SAP help in SPRO, please read more on the section:
SAP Solution Manager Implementation Guide -> SAP Solution Manager -> Configuration -> Scenario-Specific Settings -> Cross-Scenario Settings -> Status for documents
You may also want to explore:
SAP Solution Manager Implementation Guide -> SAP Solution Manager -> Configuration -> Scenario-Specific Settings -> Cross-Scenario Settings -> Document Management -> Authorizations.
I could not interpret the latter for a practical use. It needs more time being spent.
If you are ever able to crack this, please let me know at [email protected]
    Thanks and regards,
    Srini

  • Transport of Test Plan / Test Packages

    Dear all,
We intend to transport a test plan with all test packages from the development Solution Manager to the productive Solution Manager because in the productive Solution Manager no configuration is allowed.
We are using the Solution Manager functionality to execute manual testing in the following way:
On SOLAR02 the project 'FOUNDATION' is stored. The project 'FOUNDATION' has been migrated from a outstanding sandbox Solution Manager system to all three Solution Manager Systems: DEV, TEST and PROD. Test scripts have been uploaded on the 'test cases' tab of the respective business process branch.
In the development Solution Manager SMD a test plan has been generated using the uploaded test scripts mentioned above.
On the quality assurance Solution Manager the same project 'FOUNDATION' is stored and the same test scripts are uploaded on the same branches.
When the test plan is transported (using the recommended STWB_2 transport functionality) from the development SM to the quality assurance SM there are two issues.
    1. The transported test plan cannot be edited / regenerated anymore. An error message "The specified structure does not exist" is displayed. Message number is SOLAR056.
    2. The transported packages can be assigned to users but no notes can be added to the test cases. The error message is: "Unable to find template". Message number is SOFFICEINTEGRATION231.
It seems that the transported test plan cannot retrieve the underlying project structure, even it is identical to the project structure of the development SM.
This problem is urgent to us, as the test phase is starting next week.
Thank you very much for your support.
    Best Regards,
    Marc Reinhardt

    Hello Marc,
We have experienced similar problems. A transport of the test plan and copies of the test plans have resulted in us loosing status values and test notes.
I was informed it had to do with the fact the information is stored in the GUI. How I don't know, I am not a technical person.
I was wondering if you may have encountered the similar problems I have had above and found ways around it.
You can reach me at [email protected] as well.

  • Create Test Plan from Solution or Project

    Hi,
When creating a Test Plan does it matter if it is from the Solution or a Project?
    thanks

    Hi,
I guess the first question should be which version of Solution Manager are you using, 7.0 or 7.1.
The process is typically to create a project, document the business process hierarchy, assign Test Cases to the business process hierarchy, and create a test plan which allows you to select the processes to be tested and the test cases.  If there are no test cases assigned to processes then the test plan cannot be created.
A simple rule is that an Implementation Project is used to implement new business processes and during this project you document the processes including test cases.  These test cases can be assigned to a test plan and executed.  When the project passes the go-live the documentation you have created during the implementation project can be copied to a Solution. This is when the Solution is updated with documentation relating to the productive environment.
From a documentation perspective the Solution will therefore provide all the documentation associated with the productive landscape, including the test cases you have used as a basis for your test documents in the test plan.  When you change a productive business process you can use a maintenance project to check out the documentation from the Solution, change the documentation, and then check in the changed document.
For Test Cases the same logic applies.  If you need to change a Test Case you can check it out to the maintenance project, create a test plan for the maintenance project and perform the testing.
The important note is that the Solution should reflect the productive environment and a project should reflect the project environment.  The benefit is control and traceability.

  • Demand Planning:  creation of several Instances or Organizations

    Hello,
I have to setup and ODP environment for several entities. The data will come from legacy systems (not Oracle Applications) from each entity.
We will have as many plans as entities. I would like to know if it is better to create only One Instance, and each entity is defined as organization, or if it is better to create one Instance for each entity.
What are the pros and cons of each method ?
    Thanks in advance.

    ct,
It is usually about common data and workload.
If going the Instance per Entity route: each Instance will require a full collection of data (Products, Bill of Materials, Customers, Organisation etc.) to set up the structures that Demand Planning needs. There can be tremendous data management issues with having multiple instances.
If your multiple entities share common data then it would be easier to manage them as Organisations of one Instance. The maintenance and loading of data would be much easier. The new Demand Plan Scoping functionality will also enable easy Demand Plan creation per Org.
Making the assumption that your entities don't share common data I would advise doing some analysis to determine how easily they could be merged and what the maintenance effort would be. If the source data is merged then you may get benefit in reduced customisation of hierrachies and data streams.
    Regards
    Simon.

  • Development Plans functionality in Talent Management

    Hello,
We are planning to use the Development Plans functionality in Talent Management.
But the Development Plan is not opening from MSS. (MSS -> Talent management -> Assessment -> Development Plan).
I had created the Business partner object for all my test PERNRs and I had created a Development Plan Template (via IMG step in Talent management). I had activated the Business Functions and Services.
When I open the Development plan in MSS, it is showing the names of employees (i.e. the reports of the manager). But when I click on an employee, it's not opening any development plan. Nothing is happening.
    Please help me,
    Thanks
    Raghu

    Hi Bharti,
You must first delete the template names from the customizing tables where it is stored (under Talent Assessment node of Talent Management and Talent Development). Then you delete it under PHAP_CATALOG. Unfortunately you have created an databse inconsistency and you might need to see if Basis can delete the values from the table.
    Best regards,
    Luke
