Test Player time out

Hi guys
Need a pointer..
Am trying to explore the standard functionality of test player timed out if a time out alert is enabled....
But when i try doing this , doesn't seem to be working....
not sure of the following:
does this happen for surveys as well?
any other profile option or any other set up is required for this ?
cheers

Hi,
Actually IMHO iLearning 5.0 does assessments in a strange way...
This is how it works:
The test timer starts when the user starts the test. (Even if the user leaves the test, the timer still runs.) According to Oracle, this is intended behavior. The 'remaining time' display is only refreshed when the user does refresh the browser or go to a subsequent screen - test section.
So it is possible that the user does not receive an alert concerning the time remaining at all (there is no pop-up or anything, the alert is only the display of the time remaining on top of the screen...)
Once time has expired, the user is locked out of continuing or submitting the test and the status of the test in the database is failed (if I remember correctly. However, I'm sure the test is not submitted automatically on timeout, the system just assumes the score is zero.)
Another strange thing: you can set a test as resumable, but when the user leaves the test - with an intention to return later - the timer does not stop...
The only workaround I see is that you do one question per page (=test section) but it's very tedious work...
This did work differently before iL 4.2... In earlier versions you couldn't make multi-page timed tests, however there was a real-time ticking clock and a pop-up alert as well. On timeout, the test was submitted so the user got a score for it. Oracle says this was changed because lots of customers wanted it to change...
hope this makes things clearer even if we can't really change the way OiL works.. (I currently struggle with the same issue and will possibly build a custom test display engine w. Flash..)
cheers

  • CS3 / CS4 connection to remote/testing servers times out.

    Hello,
    I have 2 questions:
    1. Can DreamWeaver be configured to bind once for multiple ldap authentication transactions?
    2. Can DreamWeaver be configured to increase it's timeout when connecting to remote/testing servers?
    Details below ...
    ============
    Setup
Client: DW CS3/4 clients on WIN XP
    Server: Suse Linux 2.6 (SP3)
Protocol: WebDAV via apache 2.2, LDAP authentication
    Problem description
Dreamweaver Clients fail to connect to remote/testing servers during peak usage hours.
    Analysis
Connecting to the remote/testing servers requires approximately 900 database transactions to test user privileges for content, simplified as the following:
    900 x [ bind + lookup + unbind ]
During peak hours, this process can sometimes take upwards of 30 seconds to complete.  In these cases, Dreamweaver times out (at approximately 40 seconds) and then user must try the process again.
    Possibe Solutions
    a) Increase cache size in apache.
This has been done, but we have a large client base, and with 900 look-ups per user, we hit the ceiling of an acceptable cahce size.  This solution does not work for us.
    b) Change DreamWeaver authentication to only bind once.
Binding 900 times for 900 separate lookups is wasteful.  Can DreamWeaver be configured to bind once and have multiple transactions?
    [ bind + [ 900 x lookup ] + unbind ]
    c) Change DreamWeaver timeout value
Currently DreamWeaver times out on connection attempts at about 30-40 seconds.  Can DreamWeaver be configured to timeout at a different value?
    ============
    Thanks!
    Graham

Thanks for the super fast response...
Dummy me... It was the firewall on the Oracle host XP box that was the problem
    Appreciate the help

Have tried to download and install new Adobe flash player many times w/o success, either on my desktop (3.4 GHZ win-7 64-bit with 16 GB ram) or my laptop.  I use Norton IS, but should not be a problem.   Finally tried removing old version first, but still have same problem.  Is this common?  Can anyone help?

Could anyone tell me the root cause and how to fix it?

It could be because of the mini's disk problem. Have you dropped it or shaken it recently?
Try restoring your iPod mini via iTunes 7 (download the latest, 7.0.2). If it doesn't work, and if it still under warrantry, try replacing your device.

  • Flash Player 11 Download Time Out???

    Danke!!

I uninstalled yet again and tried reinstalling using the link you provided .
The installer downloaded successfully.  It then retrieved succussfully.  then the installer tried installing and stopped at 12%.
Then it gave me the time out error....
And finally the unsuccessful installation message.
I have made sure Active X is not checked in tools, I have made sure all settings in Internet Option are set as Adobe said (in regards to scripting, etc both in Trusted Zones and Internet Options), and Windows Firewalls, etc were all turned off.
I have tried this about 30 times now over the ast 4 nights and would appreciate anybody letting me know if they have a solution.
    Thank you
    Rob

  • OpenScript- assertAttribute method never times out for DOMObject (web test)

    Hi all,
Whenever I have an assertAttribute test on a web.button, web.link, web.textBox, any specific object type, the test works as expected, and fails as expected when the object isn't available...
However, when I'm trying to do a similar test on a div element, I have tried both DOMObject and DOMElement (web.element and web.object), and in either case, if the object doesn't exist when the test gets there, the assertAttribute call will just hang FOREVER, even though the global timeout value is set to 5 seconds. :-\ Two examples:
For a button, this will time out in 5 seconds and fail the test if the button isn't available:
    web.button("{{obj.Navigation.btnSearch}}").assertAttribute("Button text", "value", "Search", TestOperator.StringExact);
But for a div, this will just wait forever:
    web.object("{{obj.Navigation.lblWelcome}}").assertAttribute("Welcome message", "innerText", "Welcome {{username}}", TestOperator.StringExact);
Any ideas? I can work-around by testing if it's existing first, then calling assertAttribute next, but to me, it feels like a minor bug in OpenScript on these object types...
    -Troy

I commented out the export line (I don't have CS3, only an old version of CS) and it seems to work fine. the problem, then, is with the export line, and (at a guess) the issue might be the odd way you've specified the document. instead of using the export command in a document tell block, try 'export current document in live_folder as...' and see if that helps.

  • Oracle application testing: Time out on starting navigation

    Hi to all,
I am experiencing error when i run playback on my script using functional testing web application. it says "time out on startign navigation" it shows only 120 seconds and fail.
I try changing the following values under options:
playback options->general->timeout on page 1500 seconds value
playback options->script->maximum delay 1500 seconds value
    playback options->event playback->maximum 1500 seconds value
i tried restarting my pc. but it still failed after 120seconds. Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Avinnash,
Your time out setting may be very short. You may want to check your timeout Options (set it at 120 seconds) .
    Options===> Current Script Options==> Playback==> General.
    Hope it help.

  • Flash Player update stops installing [times out] at 12% FF8 & FF9.

Can anyone throw some light on this please? It downloads OK, Initialises OK, but always times out at 12% install. Adobe site no help at all. Am trying to update as Plugin says I need to. Have tried about 10 times at least and then updated to FF9 in the hopes this would solve the problem. Running W7 [64 bit] Only one thing I've noticed, I have 2.20GHz whereas Adobe minimum is 2.50GHz. There appears no answer from Adobe if you are below their specs.?
My desktop has upgraded OK with 2.50GHz. But if you can't upgrade what do you do?
Hope someone somewhere can help please!!

Thanks for the feedback.  Providing Flash Player free of charge is a tremendously expensive undertaking, and the bundled offers are an important cost-recovery mechanism.  That said, under normal circumstances, you should have seen an option to opt out of the bundled offer.
I've included a screenshot of the expected UI below.  We've heard from some users that running third-party plug-ins like Ghostery interfere with the correct execution of the software on the page, which results in the UI for this middle column not being displayed.
If you're not using something like Ghostery or AdBlock Pro, and you were not presented with this dialog, I'd be more than happy to investigate the issue further and try to get it resolved.  If you could give me some basic details as described in the following article, that would be very helpful in attempting to recreate the problem: Read Before Posting: How To Get A Useful Answer To Your Question

  • RCA Connection Pool idle Time-Out takes no effect !

    My question description goes here.
According to JCA specification, I developed my 'ManagedConnectionImpl' class from the interface 'ManagedConnection'. I realize the 'destroy()' function to send out logout request to the EIS.
Then I deployed the connector in Sun Java System Application Server, I noticed there are two parameters in Connection Pool part, they are:
    1. Idle Timeout. It said it's the maximum time that a connection can remain idle in the pool. I assume the connection will be removed after the specific time expired and before it's removed it will call the recallable function, 'destroy()', in my concrete class, 'ManagedConnectionImpl'.
    2. Pool Resize Quantity. it said it's number of connections to be removed when pool idle time expired.
I am weird about it. I think EIS had itself session control strategy, if the specific session time-out expired, it will invalidate this session. So I think we will set 'Idle Timeout' in application server to be shorter than the EIS session time-out. If the 'Idle Timeout' in application server expired, it should remove all connections inside otherwise maybe the connection with invalid session will exist! (the background knowledge is our system will return back soap fault when it meets invalid session, so the invalid connections will not be removed by switching on your configuration item, 'On Any Failure')
So I set "inital and minimum pool size" to 8, "maximum pool size" to 32 and "Pool Resize Quantity" to 32. (I expect AS to remove all when pool idle time expired)
After deploying, I send out requests at the first round and wait for the time expired but I can't see the desired logout requests from pool automatically even one. Firstly I guess if my recallable function definition is wrong but when I shut down the Application Server, the desired logout requests are sent out from pool automatically. So I think my recallable function definition is workable.
    What's your comments on it?
    P.S.
I am using Sun Java System Application Server 8.1.
    Thanks in advance!
    BRs

Whether it's related with the initial and minimum number parameter? Although I found it will not be created during AS start-up and will be created at the first request.
Whether it shall be kept to meet the minimum requirement? I have failed to set it to 0.

  • Session Time Out For UNLOGGED IN USER During Search -pls help SIR!

    Hi,
The problem lies in searchresultscontroller.java/searchcontroller.java file under search/web/handler of an application that supports educational note sharing.
    The problem is that -
When I search with query strings in different fields(as you will find in the above mentioned java files)..the keywords in resourcedto and get some files as search results.
Then I click on one of the file from within the search result and visit the file.
Here if I m logged in as an user, and the session time out is set to 1 minute in the web.xml file of the web folder not the admin folder then when I hit the BACK TO SEARCH button it easily goes back to the previous search result page along with the queries string that I had input previously.
The problem is that when I m NOT LOGGED in as an user, and I've performed a search with queries and other dropdowns in the search panel, I get the search result page, I visit the file by clicking on one of them but when I hit the BACK TO SEARCH button I don't see the previous search result page from where I had navigated to view the file.
Please suggest on what changes shall I make in the code so that even if I m not logged in as an user, I get back to the search result page on hitting the BACK TO SEARCH button from the file view page.Sir I m herein pasting the code of the searchresultscontroller.java file, but please feel free to ask for anyother file whose code you might want to see.SEARCHRESULTSCONTROLLER.JAVA FILE CONTENT-
