Pretest score normally is not sent to the LMS. However it is stored in a system variable, you could use JS to send it.

If you've forgotten the answers to your security questions and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

Cloning a test CMS from a Production environment - process?

Hi there - I am attempting to clone a test environment from a production CMS system database.
ENVIRONMENT
BO Version: XI3.1
O/S: Linux
Web Server: JBOSS 4.3
Database platform: Oracle 10g
BOXI SETUP
1. BOXI environment type on Production (clustered with two nodes.)
*. Linux servernames for each BOXI node=Prod100 and Prod 101.
*. JBOSS ports on both nodes=15000. CMS port on both nodes=6400.
*. Database Sid=BOCMS@PROD
2. BOXI environment type on Perf (clustered with two nodes)
*. Linux servernames for each BOXI node=Perf100 and Perf 101.
*. JBOSS ports on both nodes=15100.
*. CMS port on both nodes=6400.
*. Database Sid=BOCMS@PERF
Process and requirement
For each project, as part of performance testing, we copy the production database (CMS / system database) in order to clone it. The idea is that we have a copy of production which we can then use for performance testing. We do not need to rebuild the BOXI 3.1 server (that remains there), but we need to rebuild system database. In version five we would copy the BO_REPADMIN schema into the PERF database and then change the connections in Supervisor. Can this process also be done in XIR3.1 ?
Options considered so far
1. The DBAs recommended just copying the BOXI CMS / System Database tables from PROD to the PERF database. My question is - don't we then need to change the settings in the CMS database (PERF) to somehow so point to the correct physical servers / correct SIA etc.? Could I just alter th FRS references and use the cmsdbsetup.sh to alter all the details or are there other steps required (manally altering ccm.config) ?
2. Copying the CMS from the PROD to the PERF CMS schema. However it seems like this is not an option as the Admin guides stipulates:
"However, you cannot change the BusinessObjects Enterprise installation path, operating system, and machine name"
As the installation path for the BOXI performance environment is different to production and they reside on different physical machines it sounds to me that this isn't an option, right?
3. Use the cmsdbsetup.sh script - create a blank new CMS on the PERF database then migrate all production objects from PROD to PERF using the Import Wizard.
Could anyone recommend further options? Thanks in advance.

Can any one explain the detaild process about Operating level snapshot to prepare a test setup from a production databaseMainly; We are using IBM disk and our disk team take snapshot of disk and we can work on those snapshot than storage team again revert back system orginal state.
As you can see its performed by storage team contact wiht your vendor.

Nono. The answer is B. The option A is incorrect.
Keep in mind that there are 25 points on graph. If the answer is A, there must be at least at one point with a value greater than 5 on the graph, since the possible outcome range from 0-10. The probabilty of getting a 6, 7, 8, 9, aor 10 is 5/11. That is a probability of about 50%.
In another word, you have a about 50% chance to get a value in the range of 6-10 for each point and you have 25 points. It is impossible to not get any values between 6-10 on a graph with 25 points.
If you flip a coin 10 times, is it possible to not get a tail? We can think about it this way.

And these are common questions from all the tests that i gave whose answer I am not sure and in the last test i changed few answers and got 39 correct.
now i dont know if i should be happy or sad.....

Generate Test Report from database

How can i generate a Html Test Report from a UUT Test that i logged about a week ago?
Does Teststand have a pre built sequence for this?

I see that you also posted this question in this forum. As Taylor mentioned, there isn't a tool to generate a report from data in a database. You can create a sequence to call into a database and then generate a report. I would look at the example located at C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\TestStand\Examples\Database for reference.

int number = 7;1.) You declare a variable (A variable is a named placeholder for storing information during program execution) that can hold an int value and you assign literal 7 to it. "number" is our identifier here. (An identifier is a name given to a specific variable).

You test if identifier number is greater than to 0 (which is logically wrong because a positive number is greater than or equal to 0) and assigned the boolean value to a variable named "isPositive". Now what will be the value of isPositive? is 7 greater than or equal to 0? Of course true. (remember that after evaluating the expression 7 >= 0, the isPositive now holds a true value okay? And you are also wondering why 7 >= 0 is evaluated first before the assignment, thats because assignment operator in Java is right associative, remember?
PUC3A (Prefix, Unary, Creational, Conditional, Cast, Assignment) operator are all right associative meaning they are evaluated from right to left, okay? Review your Java Operator Precendence and Associativity). I remove the () operator because it isnt necessary because >= operator has a higher precendence than = operator. Okie!

Now, a single selection stucture (A single selection structure is used to select or ignore an action) "if" tests if identifier number is greater than 0 (as I said logic error, this should be >=) which is evaluated to true because 7 is greater than or equal to 0, but it follows an empty statement ";" see? So nothing is executed. I think you just mistype and what you really want is to change the value of identifier number to -100 if that identifier number is positive, Am I right?
number = -100;4.) You change the value of identifer number to -100, from 7 to -100. Does this statement change the value of our identifier isPositive? Definitely NO!
if (isPositive) // #snif
        System.out.println("Positive.");5.) This statement tests isPositive and what is the value of identifier isPositive again? The value is true right? Then what happen is it prints "Positive".

         System.out.println("Not positive.");6.) This statement will only execute if expression (see #snif) evaluates to false.

I execute this on oracle 10g and:
1) The problem is space instead of common
(order_id jtem_id)
(order_id item_id)
2) If I correct this (replace space to common )- the execution still returns the errors and any index, table doesn't exist.
3) If I correct the name of columns
(order_id item_id)
(order_id item_id) everything is OK.
Can you explain me this? Is there any mistake in the question?

A few (!) TestStand questions from a TS Newbie

I am developing a two PC test system which will have TestStand on a MasterPC and the TS remote engine running tests on a SlavePC. The tests are being developed in LV and I have a VB UI controlling the TestStand API. I have generated a palette of company specific code templates and step types which have custom fields detailing my test parameters. When (if?) we hand over the test system we want our customers Test Engineer to edit and create custom test sequences from our palette of test types.
My questions are:-
1. How do I pass variables from one sequence to another (for example from a master sequence into remote sequences) in TestStand? I know about globals/locals, but is there another way? These variables shouldnt be defined as globals, they are test specific and will change from sequence to sequence. The Test Engineer should also be able to modify any test parameter from the top level main sequence, without having to delve into the remote sequences and modifying them.
Alternatively am I able to run remote tests rather than remote sequences. This would then allow me to access the variables directly in the MasterPC sequence editor.
2.Is there a way I can access the Sequence Context variables (which I have created with my custom test type) directly in LabView (Like the Input Buffer for example, which doesnt require any unpacking at the Labview level, it just appears on the front panel). I know how to access the Sequence Context using property nodes etc.
3. Can I calculate the total number of steps in a sequence (including those in remote sequences?) this is to be used for generating a usable progress bar independent of the sequence and number of Vis (I have used Thread.PostUIMessages to post back an increment event in the UI, but this could go over the reported number of test steps).
4. Can I create a step post action that automatically posts a UImessage to update the UI progress bar? (This would remove the need for number 3 in every VI)
5. Is the Remote engine killed after the end of execution? (after going through the two pass shutdown method on the MasterPC.) Can it be started remotely?

Hi,
Q1. Each sequence you have the Step Groups, Locals and Parameters, when viewed in the sequence editor. When you Specify a SequenceCall, On the bottom half of the dialog box is a list of Parameters. These parameters are picked up from the Sequence's Parameters. If you have no parameters defined in your Sequence, then no parameters will be available when you are specifying a SequenceCall.
If you are executing a Sequence by way of the NewExcution API function, then this has an arg which you can use to pass a container of the Parameters' Listed of a sequence.
If you do a search in the Resource Library for "passing parameters to a sequence", you should find some useful examples which will help.
Q2. There are a series a VI's that are installed into your LabVI
EW folder in the USER pallete when you install TestStand. These allow you to read/write to a property/variable knowing the LookupString. eg "Step.Limits.Hi" whould enable to read or write to the current step's upper limit if the Step was a NumericTestLimit type.
Q3. You could scan through the RunState.SequenceFile and the RunState.SequenceFile.RunState.Caller properties, if the step is a SequenceCall, and count the steps in each group or just the Main step groups. This will give you a total count you require.
Q4. Yes. When you create your custom step type. Not only can you define the call for the action of the step. but also the Pre Step action and the Post Step action. Its a similar process to define the Pre and Post Actions of a step as it is the Main action.

Hello, I have a disagreement about a java test question my teacher wrote and I was hoping someone here could clear it up once and for all. My instructor and I agree on just about everything except what "will be used with objects " means.
for example (you can skip past the code, I'm sure most of you are familiar with the rules, lol):

Bob is an object made from the AnIntegerNamedX class, and x() is a class method (as I'm sure you can see, but I have to write it down for my own sake)
Bob.setX(2); works because class methods can "be used with objects".
(in the book it says "class methods must be static" so I use the words class and static interchangeably)
so, if static methods can be used with objects then this T/F question would be true:
"class(static) methods that will be used with objects are usually static."
Aren't all static methods usually static? I can understand how she interpreted it to be false, she feels that class methods can't "be used with objects" because they are static. However, I just gave what I think is a good example of using a static method with an object; or is using the term "using" like that wrong? I feel this really comes down to such a slight technicality that the question should be thrown out.
I feel I answered the question correctly, just not how she intended. But because I'm not a mind reader, I didn't know what she intended, just what the question was and because the wording "be used with" is too vague it opened the question up to be miss-interpreted.
what do you think? and please don't play the devils advocate, people seem to like doing that to me for some reason.

The problem with OOP terminology is that it's looser than anybody wants to admit.
An object can be related to its meta-object (i.e., its class) and call that meta-object's methods (i.e., static methods of the class that object is an instance of). So class methods can be used by objects. It's not quite clear if "used with objects" would have the same meaning or if the speaker would mean something else.
I'd say that of course class methods can be used with objects, for example:
public static String echo(String arg) {
return arg;
}See? It's a static method, and it's being used with its argument, which is an object. For that matter, each class is itself an instance of Class, which is a subclass of Object.
This sentence:
"class(static) methods that will be used with objects are usually static."I'd say is true, because static methods are always static (just blue things are blue), and thus they're also usually static. Now, I suppose you could say that it should be false because "usually" does not equal "always", but then the question is vague that way -- it depends on your definition of "is" -- does it mean equivalency or inclusion?
I'd say your teacher is wrong, not because of the truth or falseness of these statements, but because she's trying to give hard true/false answers to questions that aren't specified very precisely. Also I'm wondering now if she's even aware that a class is an instance of Class which is a subclass of Object, or if she is aware why she didn't tell you (maybe she just wanted the argument to end).
