Referring to your previous message when you said you'd converted via Acrobat and not Acrobat.com, I'm converting via Acrobat.com because that's the only option that is shown (how do I convert via Acrobat? - perhaps that would be more successful). I'm using the Export PDF website, and the OCR is enabled to "Recognize text in English UK". However, I've just tried converting a different LPA pdf form, this time for Health & Welfare https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/245571/LPA114_He alth_welfare_LPA.pdf and again I have the same problem as before. I've altered it from "Read only" and thought I'd then be able to enter text, but "Drawing Tools" is shown in the pane and I'm unable to enter anything onto the form - everything appears to be in images. Also, the lettering on the heading of' page 1 has become jumbled, with the word "Public" overlaying the word "Guardian." Any suggestions as to what it is I'm doing wrong would be welcome - I don't like to be beaten!

Trusted functions in Reader through browser plugin

Hi all,
I have created a trusted function that works perfectly when I open my form directly through Reader or Acrobat :-)
My trusted function does something like import a file as an attachment from a certain place on disk.
However when I try to open it through the browser plugin (ie. Internet Explorer) it does not work - what could I be doing wrong? And what do I need to take into consideration to make it work through the browser plugin?
Please don't hesitate to ask if you need further information.

You were right, something in my script on the form was not executed correctly - seems like the util.stringFromStream does not work in the form if you run it in the plugin. I changed my code into usinsg the stringforStream method in my trusted function and then it suddenly worked.
Thanks a lot for your help btw - it led me into understanding that it was possible to use the trusted functions inside the belly of the browser plugin also

Need To Open Adobe Reader Outside Browser (Firefox) On Mac Machine

I would like to set up my Adobe Reader / Firefox to open a PDF outside of the web browser when using Firefox. What settings in the Preferences of Reader need to be set and what items need to be set in Firefox to do so? Thank you very much.

From what you originally described, the problem is symptomatic of having removed the main Adobe application while still leaving the Adobe browser plugin in 'HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/'. Perhaps trashing the plugin from said folder and then reinstalling the software would rectify the issue.
Have you tried trashing Adobe Reader's preference list (.plist), located in '~/Library/Preferences/' or creating a test user account (System Preferences > Accounts > [+]) to investigate the problem further?

i've got a macbookpro, & my class lectures are presented in pdf format. every time i go to open 1, i get a popup that i need to order a pdf browser plugin 2 license. it let me access my pdfs last semester by requesting register later, but this semester it's not letting me read them. nothing i've found for adobe reader shows that i need this. how do i get rid of this popup so that i can read my lecture notes?

When Adobe Reader is chosen as plugin to open PDF's inside a web-browser it reacts to some javascript commands in the web page that hosts the <object> tag like "goToPage" or similar. I would like to know which other javascript commands (and events: something like "onPageChanged", for example) are available. Where can I find documentation?

Microsoft hasn't updated its Windows Media Player plugin for Firefox for a while, so 3-year-old documentation may be current. I recommend using MSDN as a resource, and particularly articles indicating which features work in Firefox.

My adobe docs will no longer open in Reader...when I click on them they automatically open in web browser, however, I cannot view them on the browser either...help!

Why not install a 3rd party PDF reader and Word Doc reader to help open and read pdf and micrsoft word (.doc) files or documents? You can google it and select one whose way of processing is simple and fast to help you with the related converting work. It will be better if it is totally manual and can be customized by users according to our own favors. Remember to check its free trial package first if possible. I hope you success. Good luck.

Mystery solved.
My .pdf files had been defaulting to Acrobat to open. I just designated Reader as the default for opening .pdf, and am now able to open those files normally.
Apparently, I installed Acrobat but had not yet confirmed my subscription. The installation automatically made Acrobat the default for opening .pdf files, then wouldn't allow documents to be displayed for more than a few seconds before closing itself. I assume that will no longer be the case once the bill is paid.

Generally SLDCHECK is the transaction used to test the connectivity to the SLD from your R/3 system.
Use the function module LCR_LIST_BUSINESS_SYSTEMS to get the list of Buiness systems configured in SLD.

How do I create a PDF from ID, so that when the PDF is opened in Reader, the text is editable?

Three different members of Adobe Support have unfortunately been unable to resolve this problem so I am pinning all of my hopes on my fellow users! Please Help!
I have been sent a PDF by my client (created via their previous agency) which when opened in Reader (not Acrobat) enables me to edit the existing text (in the existing fonts, granted only Helvetica) and re-save it as a hi-res PDF.
I have tried virtually everything to get this to work without success, I can create 'editable fields' but this deletes the existing text and inserts a blank box over the top which I can type into with the default 'Times'.
What will ultimately happen is that I will design the documents in English and then they will be uploaded to an ftp for download at various offices around the world. Therefore they need to translate what we have written but retain the same document design.
I know this is possible because I have the PDF in front of me, I also know that PDFs in essence weren't designed to be editable but apparently it is now achievable and very useful if I can get the blasted thing to work

Well, everything in those PDFs were form fields. You can make form fields in Acrobat - and then you can right-click on 'em and change their appearance, whether or not they'll accept rich text input, whether or not they'll scroll, and so on. It could also be done in LiveCycle Designer, for what it's worth. I wrote a now-obsolete post about this in response to yours before Mike showed up with this video.
Probably most of your work on your designs in InDesign would need to be trashed; you'd need to rebuild the whole thing in Acrobat or LiveCycle. I have to say that, unless your targeted documents are extremely simple, that this is one of the worst document translation workflows I've ever seen in the last fifteen years. It might work - I'm trying to keep an open mind, here - but if you have any non-Latin-script languages in your target list, or if print reproduction is what you're after, or if you're expecting tracking revisions to the translations to be anything but a nightmare, I would suggest that you test this method inside and out before progressing any further.

2 apps...1 new, 1 old. How to force docs to open in old app...

We've installed Quark 7 for testing purposes, but still want all Quark docs to open in Quark 6.5 by default. But of course double-clicking them forces them to open in v7.
We've tried doing the whole "Get Info -> Open With -> Change all" method, and the Get Info dialog automatically reverts back to Quark 7.
I realize it probably has something to do with the launch services cache, and was wondering if there was terminal command or something that can be done with the Plist Editor to change this.

I'm not familiar with Quark, but I think how it generally works is that when an application is selected in "Open with" and set to be the default for a given kind of file, it is the 'CFBundleIdentifier' that is recorded. If more than one application has the same 'CFBundleIdentifier', then the document is opened with the application with the matching 'CFBundleIdentifier' that has the highest 'CFBundleVersion' and I don't know if that aspect can be changed.
If it is an application that tolerates some tinkering (Quark might not be), then it might be possible either to change the test version's 'CFBundleIdentifier', or modifying its 'CFBundleVersion' lower or higher depending on how you want it to behave...

Open standby read-write then flashback leaves standby in new incarnation?

Oracle 10.2.0.4 on RHEL. In February, we followed Note:805438.1 to open the standby for read-write for a test (after creating a restore point). A few minutes later, we did flashback. It ran fine ever since, receiving and applying archivelogs. Recently we noticed it stopped applying redo and this started in late June. Then I followed Note:836986.1 to roll forward the standby with incremental backup from the primary. During this process, it was found that the standby was in incarnation 2:

The solution is to set it to 1, because the primary is (and always was) 1:
reset database to incarnation 1;
The DBA team don't recall making any significant change to the standby since the February test and alert.log doesn't show anything relevant. Will "open standby read-write then flashback" leave the standby in the new incarnation, instead of setting it back to the original incarnation? We checked another database which has a standby we did the same test on. The standby is back to the original incarnation as the primary is. So there must be something special about this database.
Secondly, if the standby stayed in a newer incarnation, how could it continue to apply redo received from the primary in its original incarnation?

Thanks. Bug 6035495 is related but not exactly my case. My 10.2.0.4 standby database alert.log does not have "orphan" or "ORA-19909". But the solution is the same.

That's exactly what happened to me. Although flashing back the standby sets its current incarnation back (to the same as the primary), if you later run "catalog start with" on the standby, that command will change the incarnation to the later one! Since I was following Note:836986.1 to roll forward the standby, "catalog start with" was run and these lines appeared

It appears that when "catalog" detects another (must be newer I guess?) incarnation, it blindly sets the standby database to that one. The analyst calls it "implicit catalog". It may as well be called "implicit incarnation change of catalog" or "side effec of catalog".
