Testdrive MaxDB linux

Hi
Does anybody know if SAP has planned to release a new Testdrive based on 7.0 and MaxDB ?
There has gone years since the last 6.10 testdrive.
Cheers.
Henrik Bentzen

Hi Henrik Bentzen,
there ist at least one MaxDB and one IDB UDB testdrive released since the 6.10 release.
For example at CeBIT 2004 the SAP LinuxLab released its NW4 6.40 based testdrive with MaxDB 7.5. You can have a look at it by visiting: http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/index.asp
Or you can download it directly from ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/linuxlab/test_drive/
Anyway, the new Netweaver2004s testdrive reached the internal testing phase and will hopefully released soon. in the meantime you may want to give the 6.40 release a chance.
Cheers,
  Hannes

  • Problems deploying with SDM on SAP Netweaver Testdrive on Linux

    Hello,
I tried to deploy the System Analyzer (see SAP-Note 770702) for NW 04 on the SAP Netweaver Testdrive on Linux (Technology Preview SAP NetWeaver 04 - SAP Web Application Server on Linux and MaxDB).
When I try to deploy it with the RemoteGui, the GUI hangs after the step 2 ('show deployment proposals for SCAs/SDA's to be deployed'). There is no error in the logfiles.
When I try to deploy it on the command line (standalone modus), I get the following error:

    Hi Peter,

  • Problems with the license N4S Linux NW 7.0 Testdrive MaxDB

    Dear all,
I have a curious behaivor with my testdrive. On every OS start, the system has a different HW-Key!?
Now I've requested and installed after the installation the license key for the first HW-Key. Successfully installed the
license key via transaction slicense. Now after a second restart of the os, I've a second HW-Key. Now the first license is not working. If I want to log in with ddic on 001 client there comes a error message up: "error in license check".
If I want to install the seond liense which I got for the second HW-Key, it doens't work. After a third restart of the os I've a another HW-Key.
    Strange??
    Kind regards,

    HI
the HW Key is amongst other things generated using the MAC address of the first network device. It seems that after reboot, your first network device (first to appear with ifconfig) does have another MAC address. If so, the HWkey changes every time. This is an issue with your network start scripts ...
    Thanks

  • NW04 Testdrive in Linux SuSE 9.3 64 Bit - Logon crashes with DB error

    Hi there,
I just installed NW04 Testdrive on SuSE 9.3 32 Bit and it works fine .
But then I did the same on SuSE 9.3 64 Bit version and tried to logon using sapgui. The result is annoying because the logon screen crashes with the following ABAP runtime error: DBIF_RSQL_INVALID REQUEST in program SAPMSYST, include SAPMSYST, row 2529 in module NAME FILL_INFO_TAB. There is an error in databace interface while accessing table DOKTL.
I'm just asking whether MaxDB runs on 64 Bit SuSE Linux. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Tobias,
according to the Software Downloads If there will be a Testdrive for 64 Bit Linux Systems.

  • Sap Netweaver 4.0 testdrive on linux - impossible to connect from sapgui

    Hi guys,
i've just finished to install the NW40 testdrive on a linux box, based on Redhat 9.0 distro (as requested by the equirements). At the end of installation, i have two boxes
One box with winxp sp1 called Darkstar with i.p. 192.168.100.1 and Subnet mask 255.255.0.0
The second box (with linux and NW40) called Darkmoon (prob. i was too bored to think a completly different name ) with i.p. 192.168.100.15 and subnet mask 255.255.0.0
The /etc/hosts file of the linux box contain these entries :
    127.0.0.1     Darkmoon
    192.168.100.15     Darkmoon.locadomain.ext
    195.155.155.1     nw4host
The last line was taked from other posts found in SDN forum. I followed all the install steps and the db and the instances going-up very well, without any problem.
If i ping the two boxes, they reply each-others (from winxp to linux and vice-versa).
The "hostname" command in the linux box, return only "Darkmoon" as request by installation steps.
    Now the problem.
On the winxp box i have installed sapgui 6.20. In it, I've created an entry with these information:
    Description : Linux box
    Application server : 192.168.100.15
    System number : 00
When i try to connect with double clink on that entry, i have the following error :
Partner not reached (host 192.168.100.15, service sapdp00)
    Component NI (Network interface)
    Release 6.20
    Ver 36
    Return code -10
    System call SO_ERROR
    Error text : WSACONNREFUSED
Seems the boxes don't see between them.
Could be a hosts file problem on linux box???
Someone of u could give me some help ??
Could be very unhappy couln't use NW40 just for a little error.
Thx a lot for all your hints and suggestions
    Andrea

The firts answer is yes, i've started the instance with the command "startsap", and the instance comes up.
I can see the processed with ps -ef .

    Hi,
I checked the SAP Knowledge shop, and ordred the DVDs, there are two DVDs available:
    1) SAP Netweaver 2004s Testdrive power edition SAP Web Application server for linux on power and IBM db2
    2) SAP Netweaver 2004s Testdrive (Maxdb 7.6)
and in the index.html file of both DVDs it is indicated: "It is mandatory that you use the 64-Bit OS version."
So it seems that there is no more 32-bit Netweaver for linux.

    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi Krishna,
After the installation of SAP Netweacer Testdrive on Linux, we need to Get the hardware key by executing the following line:
    $ /usr/sap/NW4/SYS/exe/run/saplicense -get
Once we done this, Request the license key for your TestDrive by entering your data at this site
    http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/nw4/
Shortly you will receive an email which you mentioned in the site with attached rpm file .
Note to install the RPM license MaxDB must be running.
Once you start the server with comnmand "startsap nw4host".
after this check whether all the processes started properly with the following command
    "startsap check nw4host"
    Hope this will be useful.

we are sorry for any inconvenience, but WAS is already out of support of the license program. Please use the current N4S testdrive (MaxDB version is 64bit / DB2 version is 32bit).

  • SAP Newbie - MaxDB and NetWeaver limitations

We are new SAP partner (SR) licensing mySAP Business Suite on MaxDB/Windows platform. What are limitations regarding further NetWeaver configurations (ordering). I saw on Product Availability Matrix that only MaxDB/Linux configurations are available for EP. Does that mean that we will not be available to license EP?
    Thanks in advance,
    Igor

    Hi Igor,
The Product Availability Matrix doucment is the most up to date information on the availability for SAP NetWeaver components. It will be supported with SAP NetWeaver '04 SR1 which should be available later in the year.
If you can't wait, I would suggest that you contact your partner contact at SAP and discuss getting either the Linux version or a supported windows/DB combination like SQL Server.
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.

I need information how cpu- and memory- consumption will change. Otherwise which requirements have to make for target database especially SAPS and hardware design.

    I would book that service.
The people doing that have lots of experience in diagnosing possible problems before the migration and will give you a lot of useful tips.

  • Testdrive Version

    Hello SAP Experts
I was setting up the NW2004s testdrive and after some fiddling it worked.
Now i realize that the testdrives for the MS-world are much more recent - even containing SP's and everything.  Is there a reason why Linux is left behind so much compared to Windows? Will there be a newer testdrive on linux ?
    regards,
                  Thomas

    Dear Thomas, FC, Samuele
We are working on a successor release for quite some time now but have been kept up by quite a few things like changes in SAP release schedule (No NW7.02, our dual stack installation for NetWeaver got a "status downgade", partner dependencies for the VMware version). But lets return to the good news: Our 7.01 based version is running fine in the lab, and we are now working with Novell to make the VMware based appliance approach an even easier user experience than our first appliance shipment. We hope to resolve last remaining issues within the next month, and please give us 2-4 weeks for production of the test drive. Will become available over SAP knowledge shop www.sap.com/shop like its predecessor.
Like for the appliance version of our NW2004s version Novell will provide a custom tailored SLES11 VMware image that will allow for "even simpler than Windows" deployment procedure. We will not require a second version of the testdrive any more but the possibility to have a custom tailored SLES version available will already do the job together with the standard testdrive. For those among you who have a recent Linux distro and sufficient disk space, native install of the Testdrive is possible. SDN download is currently on hold, not sure if we will be able to provide a download link to the more impatient ones among our fans.
We are always looking for feedback on distro releases on which our Testdrive is running sucessfully. Just let us know if you would be ready to act as "pilort customers". If yes please specify if you prefer the VMware approach or if you want to install on your Linux box. A recent release, a Dual core CPU, 2GB of RAM and around 40GB of disk space should be sufficient
    Looking forward to your feedback
    Manfred
