Hi,
We are deploying WebLogic 8.1 Platform in our company. We just installed it and
would like to make sure everything is working fine.
What are the tests conducted to make sure all components of the platform (Portal,
Workshop, Integrator, JRockit and Server) are all installed and configured correctly?
Are there any standard suites of tests that are performed commonly in the WebLogic
world when a new installation is done?

Testing New dark fiber installation

What is the best way and/or best software for testing a new installation of dark fiber, not only the physical but also test for L2 errors etc, the fiber connects / terminates at two 6500's and will be configuring a /30 network as to not disrupt anything else in the network, thanks in advance.

In addition to OTDR testing of the fiber, once you plug it in and assign IP addresses from the /30 subnet, you could run IP Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance tests between the two 6500s.
Set one end up to be the "sender" and the other end to be the "responder". Configure a test or simulation that generates packet traffic between them. Sender sends to responder, which in turn returns it to sender. If you have NTP time synchronization configured on the 6500 switches, IP SLA can measure not only packet loss (indicating a questionable or saturated link) and in which direction the loss occurred; it can also report on the variability in delivery timing between packets, and lots more.
Depending on the age of your IOS, it may be termed IP SAA (for Service Assurance Agent) instead of IP SLA.

Error during installation:"Invalid Eclipse platform version" (have 3.0RC3)

I saw a new version of bpel designer on otn for download. As I hoped that it would solve my previous problem ('db schema not found') I downloaded and tried to install it.
Unfortunately I get an error during installation: "Invalid Eclipse platform version". I know that at least version 3 has to be installed. The .eclipseproduct file tells me that it is version 3.0.0. I have downloaded and installed the Eclipse SDK 3.0RC3 version a couple days ago. So it looks like that the version is OK. But I can't get around this error message.
Any ideas?

I've downloaded the GA version of Eclipse and it works now.
During the installations I saw some minor things that I'll share with you:
- path to the bpel server can be left empty, however there is a '/' already. So you have to chose a directory or delete it before you can go further otherwise an error appears. Maybe it is easier to not have the '/'.
- I wanted to have the designer and PM in the same directory. But choosing the same dir led to a warning for overwriting the dir. I didn't dare thus now I have 2 dir's. ( 1 for designer and 1 for PM).
-After installation I don't have entries in 'Start''Programs''oracle' to start the PM. This was also the case with the previous version. I start PM via the 'bat'-files under the PM/bin dir.
- starting the batch file: startOraBpel.bat starts with an error; "The system cannot find the file C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe /e:4096."
- Last but not least: I hoped that this would solve my re-install problem 'cannot lookup db schema version' but unfortunately that's not the case.

Essbase 11.1.2.1 New Installation- Cannot configure Essbase Server

After uninstalling EPM-System 11.1.2.0 and clearing the registries as much as I could; I tried to install Essbase Server 11.1.2.1 on a Windows 2008-R2 64bit platform. The installation went smoothly and I could configure the Hyperion Foundation tools.
However on the Epm-Configurator, "Configure Essbase Server" section appears read only. Therefore I could not configure the Essbase server. I also cannot start the Oracle Process Manager service as the file OPMN service path directs, does not exist in the directory. In fact I seem to have only "Admin" file under the Oracle\Middleware\Ohs
Any idea why I encounter such issue although the installation seems to be succesful?

I have found the solution following this link : Unable to configure Essbase on new installation
I don't know exactly what did the trick but here are the changes I made before it worked:
- I have changed the total paging file size
- Extracted the Additional Content again
- To install, I chose the Run as Administrator option.
- First I installed and configured only Foundation Services, later I installed the other components.

Windows 7,new installation, images folder path configuration problem

I am having a difficult time getting images folder (or possibly loaded images) to perform correctly on a new installation.
When apex starts up, the page has no visual objects rendered. Here's a portion of the page's source:

I've tried a number of corrections including rerunning apex_epg_config.sql, apexldimg.sql, adding an apex.images parameter to listener startup (just a shot in the dark), deleting and recreating apex.properties, adding and removing trailing /'s, \'s, //'s, \\'s, etc. I didn't have success with any of these approaches, so it may have been cumulative changes that resulted in the problem. I just list them as having tried (at least once).

Yes, I did specify a full path rather than /i/. I think I had originally started with /i/ but didn't understand where /i/ maps to a folder path, so I reinstalled and specified the path with similar results.
I'll test reset_image_prefix.sql and post results.
I'm confused about the EPSQL gateway v. APEX listener. I just tried to follow the documentation which offered multiple options. I am not familiar with either of them, so I can't defend a choice.

Tmxgta, a new installer including the guide in ncurses

tmxgta, a new installer made for comfortably reading instructions alongside your terminal.
The included guide covers the complete archwiki page "Beginners' Guide/Installation".
Everything is written in bash, and is licensed under GNU Free Documentation License.
Instead of showing a wall-of-text information is split up into sections. Read helpful information about your setup like partition layout and mountpoints. Keyboard shortcuts:
There are only two keyboard shortcuts you need to know:
control-a + control-a : switches from the terminal to the guide and back
control-a : go to copy mode for scrolling up and down with the arrowkeys
or pageup / pagedown
Run tmxgta:
There are two possibilities to run tmxgta, it is recommended to download the .iso file.
Or get the script on github.
Known limitations: Looks bad on very small screens as in 600x800 pixels. The script is set to run only if 120 columns or more are available. Check 'tput cols' in the kernel console.

The new iso 06-01 is released, including updates from the beginner's guide. There is now a menu to select from various options for wireless network configuration. ( wifi-menu, netctl-profiles, netctl-auto). Also you can use the mouse for copy-pasting commands (with gpm), if you have a usb-mouse.

Only works with internet connection. With tmxgta it is no problem to read how to use netctl etc. without having internet connection.
I plan adding vim, if it does not take much space.

New Installation not work / White screen.../ iMAC

Hello , i hv this iMac : iMac 12,2, Quad Core i7 , 3.4 Ghz , 8 MB Ram , SMC Version 1.72f2 , HDD 500 GB , Serialnumber xxHJW.
I make a new installation snow leopard with the gray DVD ( no backup because all my datas on a server ) include all updates . Yosemite runs one time.
After reboot i see white screen . Nothing more. I reboot . Check with safe mode and a lot more… nothing happened .
Than i put out the hard disk and format ( i take this how to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: Löschen und Installieren - Apple Support )

Testing new boot wim

I have a new Lenovo model which I need to be able to build with SCCM
I have pxe booted using our current boot wim and the laptop reboots shortly after configuring networks. I have opend a command prompt and can see that the laptop doesn't get an ip address. I have downloaded network drivers for the laptop and
have used drvload to test the installation of drivers and have found one which works.
I want to take a copy of my current boot wim, create a new wim based on that, add the new driver and then use this new wim to boot the laptop. I also want to take a copy of a Task Sequence, add the new laptop drivers and associate this with the new
boot wim. Essentially I want to create a new boot wim and task Sequence.
It is my understanding that machines will boot with the boot wim which is associated with the last Task Sequence that was deployed. My question is, how can I test booting the laptop with the new boot wim and apply the new Task Sequence without
this affecting any other machines ? While testing I don't want any production / unknown machines booting using the new wim. Unfortunately I don't have a test environment set up at the moment. I know I can create a boot media which uses the
new boot wim but then how can I advertise /deploy the new TS without other machines using the boot wim associated with it.

Sorry. I misunderstood. You could adopt your strategy above. Remember thought that the Lenovo may not necessarily get the boot image that it is configured to use in the task sequence.

This is sometimes caused by a problem with the iTunesPrefs.xml file, normally found at C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml. Try dragging this to the desktop and trying again.
Alternatively the problem may be that you have McAfee AV and it is preventing iTunes from updating the same file and thus causing the problem. See Why does iTunes delete my itunesprefs.xml? for details.

When I clicked on Firefox, the update bar started but when it stopped Firfox would not open. The blue screen of death popped up and said something about a new installation. We restarted the computer and now Firefox will not open. Help!

When I clicked to open Firefox the update bar appeared and an update loaded. Usually when this happens Firefox will open up when the update is finished. This time it did not open. when I clicked on the icon again the blue screen opened and said something about a new installation and if this was the first time you have seen this screen restart your computer and try again. I restarted the computer and when I clicked on the Firefox icon the "hour glass" would appear like it was trying to open but it never would open. I don't know what else to do.

Network card not found after new installation [SOLVED]

I broke my filesystem on my Asus UL80V series laptop in trying to solve problems related to the latest glibc update, so decided to do a clean re-install. I had an installation disk at hand: 2009.08 with kernel 2.6.30.4-1 (which is supposed to have the module for my ath9k network device). However after a successful installation (including all the files from base-dev), my network device is not recognised:
dhcpcd: eth0: interface not found or invalid
although network connectivity (wired and wireless) worked perfectly before the installation attempt.
This happened yesterday (17th) and I have been scouring the web since trying to find out what the cause of this problem is, without luck.
I also burned a new installation CD with the latest stable version, but no luck there, either! Got a message at the beginning informing me that the install requires 64 Mb memory, although my laptop has 4 Gb.
I should say, the device is there and working:
lspci | grep Net
gives

I also did
modprobe ath9k
just to make sure. No luck.
Any help will be appreciated.

Argh, ip may not be around in the 2009 image really ;-) .. Use "ifconfig" instead..
But: I meanwhile cross-checked your ath9k: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri … h9k_driver
and it does not sound encouraging for the kernel you have there.
The image is far too old anyway, if you ask me (would be a darn hazzle to get that uptodate I am sure). Pity you get that memory error with the 2011 one. Maybe check forums on that. Sounds very strange, I am not aware of any post I read.
If you can burn another CD, you can try the recent ISOs as well: http://releng.archlinux.org/isos/

David. Thank you very much. The problem was not with the canvas but rather the Viewer. But the solution was the same. Somehow, the Viewer window was re-set to Alpha. I changed it back to RGB.... and the picture is back. These issues are often very simple.... but they can drive you bats if you don't know the answer. Very grateful. Tim

Booting issue on a new installation on Acer Aspire 4752 laptop.

Hi All,
     I have done a new installation of OS on a Acer laptop stated above. However, due to some reason, during the booting up process, it will always stuck at screen right before it enter into the logon screen. I will have to press
Enter in order to move it, as if there is a "press Enter to continue...".
     After this "enter" key, everything else works normally. However, this is pretty annoying and I could not sent this laptop back to my enduser because of this trivial issue.
     Some other information as below:
This is a new OS and no other apps is installed. Though now it is patched (with Microsoft patches). But it happens since the first boot after install.
In according to Device Manager, all drivers are in place. No exclamation mark and error.
Event Viewer shows no error for the boot up.
Safemode (command prompt) shows that it is stuck at loading "classpnp.sys".
     My questions:
It will be good if there is already a resolution. :)
How to diagnose, or identify which apps actually waiting for that "enter" to move on?

Hi,
For the boot issue, first I suggest you use startup repair if you have an installation disk, check if it can detect and fix some certain problems.
Or run sfc/scannow in command prompt in recovery console, check if it can make any difference.
If doesn’t work, then try “Enable boot logging”, then check the log called ntbtlog.txt, usually located in system drive\Windows.

Headphones not working after a complete new installation

Hello, After wiping the harddisk of my laptop and a new installation of Windows 7 every thing works fine, except the headphones. I tried installing new driver, but the ones from windows update are not working and on the official hp driver site there are no drivers for audio. How can I fix this?

Hi, Can you see the headphone under Playback devices (Right click speaker icon at the bottom right) ? You may need to install driver for it. ITunes error message during new installation of 10.5

I keep getting the following error message durning a new installation of iTunes 10.5.
An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.Resources\es.lproj\PurchasedPlacard.nib
The system the installation is occuring on is:
HP Pavilion DV6-3150
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Intel i5 2.53 GHz, 4 Gig RAM
Antivirus
Norton Security Suite
ver. 5.1.0.29
I did a Virus sweep after the error message and no messages came up. Attempted a second install with the antivirus was disabled during the install and recieved the same error message.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I did have image of both Tiger and Snow Leopard OS on my external hdd. I do use this images at my work to install fresh OS on new HDD. it's works fine and there is no issue with it. I tried same images on my macbook but none works and this error appear and same with Snow Leopard Disc installation.
