Testing Versions

Hi All
We develop x-platform software for a desktop publishing type situation that allows (and recommends) exporting or rendering the designed files out through photoshop scripting.
Our problem is keeping up to date with all the photoshop versions for all the platforms.  There are quite a few when you add them up. CS -> CS5, Win XP - 7, OSX 10.2 - 7, 32 & 64bit, etc...
Is there a way to get free development versions?

Sorry, but there are no free dev versions.
One solution is to install trail versions on a test box. Do your testing in the 30-day window then reformat that machine. This only works (obviously) for versions that you can find installation programs for.
The other solution is to ask for volunteers to beta test for the versions you don't have access to. What I have done in the past is for clients who need multi-version support is send them a rev based on  the current version of PS and let them do the testing. There are usually are not any problems and the ones that do crop up are ones that I've dealt with before (UnitValue, for instance, has changed a bit since CS). I  have installation packages going back to PS7 (I think) so in a worst case scenario I can always reinstall a copy for a few days to get a problem worked out. My big problem is testing all of the different OS versions. File permission rules change going to Vista and Win7 which complicated installation of some of my scripts. And Adobe moves Startup Scripts folders from time to time.
Most of what I write will work as far back as CS unless I'm using new ScriptUI features, E4X (aka XML) support, BridgeTalk, XMPScript, or new PS DOM interfaces. Except for the ScriptUI bits, I can usually find work-arounds to get something working. Support back as far as PS7, on the other hand, can be difficult or impossible primarily because there is no ScriptUI or Bridge/FileBrowser support.

    since today, after a correct start, when starting Photoshop CS6 (Windows), only a dialog stating "Login for CS6 Extended Test Version" (or similar, as the text is in German). Afterwards, Photoshop simply exits. How do I get rid of this and make PS start as usual, as I do not want to test the extended version.

    Thank you for this information. I do not use Creative Cloud and just purchased Photoshop CS6 for my laptop. When I install Application Manager as suggested in the link, I get a Creative Cloud icon that -- when clicked -- asks me to enter my Adobe ID. I deliberately do not want to use Creative Cloud, just continue using CS6 on my laptop.
    As the startup screen insists on entering my Adobe ID, I did. And now Photoshop starts as Extended in test mode and does not allow me to (Help ->) Deactivate.
    How do I get rid of this Extended test license (I do not need the "Extended" features) and return to my original one computer CS6 license without having to use Creative Cloud.

    yes, you are right. it is the adobe reader via exportPDF. but it should be the acrobat. it was written on the internetpage...

    A friend of mine purchased the iSight iMac a week ago and the test version has already expired. She was kind of worried that the machine wasn't brand new...
    I am not sure about mine since I installed the standard version when I got it.
    Just wondering if it's normal or.....should she ask for an exchange?

    Hi, I may suggest to activate the root account and try the uninstall process from that account. To do so, you have to:
    Go to System Preferences a open up the Users pane;
    On the left side of the pane, you shuold see Login Options;
    Enabled editing option clicking on the lock (it will ask your password);
    Once the pane is enabled, you should see something like Server Account Network (sorry my OS is in italian, so I don't exactly know the right translation), and right next to it a button;
    Click on that button, and a new pane shows up. Click on Open Directory Utility, and on the upper bar of OS X click on Edit;
    Select Enable Root Account (you can set a password, or not);
    Done that, you should log out and when the login window show up, type on the user field "root" and the password you choose;
    Theorically, from this account you will be able to unistall the application.
    After completing your task, I reccomend you to disable the root account, just by loggin in your personal account and repeating the steps I described before. Hope it helps

    Delete the Aperture app from the Applications folder. Then you'll be able to buy it from the App store.
    Any libraries you have will work (after upgrading them) with the paid app.

    Bopoolen the download and extraction process happen within your temporary directory.  Please verify your current User account has proper read/write access to this directory and that you have sufficient disk space.

    This happens when  a user account becomes corrupted and prevents the installer from accessing or creating the necessary files and folders.

    The email problem is on your end. Some email clients just don't work with the forum.
    We needed to know if you purchased a perpetual license, or a subscription to the Creative Cloud. It sounds like you bought a perpetual license. Did you register the software when you installed it? Did you enter the serial number during installation? Did you try to move the software from another computer?
    Have you ever had any CS5 programs? Did you uninstall them? If so, did you do it before or after installing CS6?
    Have you tried simply registering again at the prompt (and are you sure it is asking you to register, rather than activate)?

    Hi there,
    I have been trying to install LR and PS test versions on my Macbook. I have successfully installed the Adobe Creative Cloud, however in the "Apps" section, I can only see a clock that is turning (kind of something is still running).
    But I have done the download of the test versions already one month ago and till now, it still shows the "clock" sign.
    What could be wrong? I do have LR 4 (version 4.4) and PS CS6 on my Macbook already, could this be the problem?
