Testing website in Dreamweaver for compatibility in different browsers
Hi,
A while ago, I had read on my facebook wall (but can't find that comment anymore) that Dreamweaver had recently made an upgrade; we are now able test our website in Dreamweaver for compatibility in different browsers and that it also tells us what needs to be fixed for our site to work within certain browsers. Where do I go for that exactly?
Thanks
There is an extension for DW called browserlab I think. Seems slow to me but I havent used it much.
browsershots.org is a good site where you can test your pages in most any browser ever invented. Its somewhat slow, depending on how many browsers you want to test, but I like it.

Test website compatibility with different browsers
Please tell me how to test my website campatibility with different browsers.
Thanks,
DanAnd you may be doing what I do: Developing on a Macintosh computer running OS X. I do have an emulator for Linux, but not for Windows, so I cannot run IE—except I can.
Here's how I do it.
Use Virtual Box. You can set up installations of Windows to run the Three Big Browsers that you need to test on, like I have:
I can run any of the three virtual machines and test whe I am doing in a Microsoft browser. I no longer support Internet Exploiter 6. My clients are not interested in China. -

Need help: Problems with exported Dreamweaver html file in different browsers
I'm trying to send out a newsletter, and had our designer create it in Dreamweaver, and then export and html file which we uploaded. For some reason it looks wrong on Mac's, Gmail, and a few issues with Outlook. Does anyone know how to help with this, or had to work around this problem in the past?
I've attached our html file as well.
We're an eco startup with limited time and budget - so any help you have would be so appreciated.

Palo Alto Joins the Ban Against
Non-Recyclable Materials
This Spring, Palo Alto joined the list of more than 30 cities and counties in California who are making good on their efforts toward reducing their greenhouse gas emissions
by enacting partial or comprehensive bans on polystyrene (PS) foam and/or non-recyclable disposable foodservice containers. Around the same time, a California statewide ban on the use of PS containers was tabled before reaching the State Assembly floor. Representative
Jerry Hill, one of AB 1358’s sponsors, pulled the bill due
to concerns addressed in the Appropriations committee hearing of the bill, regarding the fiscal impacts which
were not addressed in bill’s contents.
Largely represented by the California Restaurant Association, opponents of AB 1358 lobbied legislative representatives and argued there would be a negative fiscal impact on struggling restaurant owners and their customers in order to accommodate the more expensive alternatives to PS containers. There are the unquantifiable and “hidden” costs of contaminating our bodies and environment which would far surpass the fiscal impact on the plastics, restaurants and consumer industries. Studies published by the Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education have indicated that varying levels of styrene residues
are present in 100% of all human fat tissue in the
United States, as PS products are found to lose weight after in contact with hot or fatty/acidic foods and liquids, causing migration of the styrene into the food or fluid, ending up in the human body. On the high end, the levels were “one third of levels known to cause neurotoxic symptoms”. In the environment,
PS is rarely recycled and does not biodegrade. Supporting safer alternatives to polystyrene, in addition to the collection infrastructure and processing mechanisms for the compostable and recyclable products would help create more green jobs in the long run and would be a move in the right direction away from unnecessary harm
to our health, our communities and our world. Keep your eyes open for a revised version of AB 1358 in Spring 2010! For more information about polystyrene

Why do my Adobe Pro 10 fillable forms on my website work great in Explorer and Chrome and when downloaded but do not open in Mac, Windows 8, and look funny in Firefox?
And sad thing is the adobe PDF Plugin doesn't work on Mac in which you can view, Print and fillout through any browsers, be it : Chrome, FF, SeaMonkey, Opera, Maxthon, Safari, OmniWeb, iCab. Even PDF Browser Plugin by Schubert of Germany doesn't work well and may not even work with Yosemite. The Adobe plugin hasn't worked with Mac in ages. And I've continually requested that it be fixed. And last time I received a nasty note from Adobe saying they had no intention of ever fixing it. That they would rather concentrate on new features than fixing any bugs that crop up.

Website on Dreamweaver comes up different on laptop than school desktop
I have created a website using dreamweaver on my laptop at home. When I copied and pasted it onto my school desktop computer the website has come up different. The website is smaller and has shifted to the left side. I think this may be because of the difference in screen resolutions. The screen resolution at home is 1024 x 768 pixels and I am not sure what the resolution at school is. I think it may also be because I am using windows xp at home and windows 7 at school. I use Google Chrome at both home and school. Somebody please help me with this problem.
Also when i open my website in internet explorer, all the linked images come up with blue boxes around them. I also need help on this problem as there should be boxes around the images.Go to http://validator.w3.org and make sure you don't have any html errors causing the issue.
It is completely impossible to guess why it might be displaying differently between your two machines without a lot more info. The easiest way for you to give us the info we need would be to post a link to your site here. -
How can I test websites I'm making in for Internet Explorer
Hi,
Is there good way to test websites I'm making in Internet Explorer? I know about sites like http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ , but as far as I know, that only works when it's online and you give it the link. What about while you're still developing it and it's not online yet? I do have Windows on my iMac via Bootcamp, but I can't be switching back and forth 100 times a day as I look at it and come back and edit it! lol
Is there any easy way? Or should I just buy some cheap PC?
Thanks!I know VMware Fusion let's you run your Bootcamp partition as a virtual machine and I'm pretty sure that Parallels supports that also (have only used Fusion). With your bootcamp partition running as a virtual machine it runs side by side with Mac OS. You would set the virtual machine up to use either bridged (peer of Mac) or NAT (kind of hides behind Mac) networking.
To make your life easier you would probably put an entry in your \Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts file with your Mac's IP address and the name of site you're trying to connect to.
I've been running Windows VMs for a little over 3 years and the whole setup works pretty great. -

Do you mean you lost your local copy of your site files from on an old
computer?
Log-in to your Remote Server and GET the site files using DW or your favorite

Which version of DW did you have before?
How many installations of DW did you have? You can have up to 2 at a time.

Itunes 7.6 update not passing windows logo testing for compatibility
I have tried to update itunes 3 times. It downloads fine but when it gets to the installation part, I get a warning from windows saying that this software has not passed the windows logo test for compatibility and that if I proceed with the installaton, The system may get impaired. So I stop installation, but eventually I have to update itunes. My ipod gets updated but itunes is not. Lately I've been having problems with my ipod acting buggy. Is this familiar to anyone? Why is this happening and what do I need to do? Thanks!

Working with Dreamweaver for a BC Website
I am creating my website in Dreamweaver CS6 and using BC to host the site. When I make a change to the file and click the 'live' button in Dreamweaver CS6, it puts the entire site. How do I change this setting so I can put the site when I am finished editing it?
The point of the Live view is to see the changes you have made on production, which is why DW puts the files across. In any case I belive that unchecking this button in Manage Sites section will do what you need:

Adding dynamic images to your website using Dreamweaver
Hi
I've been working on a website which has been in use by public for some months now.
I recently wanted to add a simple product catelogue. I can do this just by creating my database connection and using the recordsets.
However I wanted to add an image thumbnail to each product record.
I found the above topic in the Adobe Help 'Adding dynamic images to your website using Dreamweaver'
What I really would like to know is what exactly is put in the image_location field of the table, how is this field populated and then how to view the picture.
I have tried, as per instructions, but the picture is not showing.
I use php as I dont know coldfusion, but I'm sure the process must be pretty similar.
If anyone can shed some light then that would be really appreciated.
Many thanks lizkomrad78 wrote:

As most anyone else will say, so I will say; *please don't
start it
automatically!*
Playing music on a site is fine, but making it play
automatically when you
go to the site will alienate lots of people; especially those
having a quick
web surf at work or who have other music on whilst they're
working.
But back to your question; have a look at the XSPF music
player
http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/).
It comes in different visual versions
(can modify it with a bit of Flash knowledge), allows you to
select
different songs or just leave it looping, or you can just
loop one song. And
yes, you can make it start automatically.
See
http://www.blastoffmusic.org
for an example of a christian site where it
is used (on the inside pages)

Please help me! I'm pretty new to web design. Built this website from scratch - designed in photoshop and put together in dreamweaver. I launched the site and it looks great in safari, but had a friend look at it with explorer and the blue link boxes (the one that lets you know you have something linked in dreamweaver) are showing up on the interent explorer browser and I can only assume there are issues in other browsers as well. Please help if you can. Here is a link to my website: www.shandryntrumble.com Thanks
Thanks for your help!Should I create an external style sheet? I'm still unsure of where and what to put in the document. Where are the CSS tags? And what exactly do I place in them? Sorry, I'm so new to this. Thanks for your patience.

Bad information. You don't need a class for this. Simply add the following CSS code to your style sheet. An external style sheet is preferred but it if you don't have one yet, add this code to the CSS inside the tags of your HTML document. /*remove borders from all linked images*/a img Nancy O.
