TestStand hangs on step sequence
I am having issues with a CVI test sequence hanging in TestStand 2010 & 2012. Currently, the only way to resolve this is to exit/close TestStand. Following this we must replace the entire project with a backup project. This only occurs about once a day or so with the sequence running continuously. It will hang on the first or second step in the sequence, usually the first step. Has anyone experienced this phenomenon?
Is there a memory leak which adds on with each run ( since you are running continously).
After hang is it not enough if you restart TS and rerun the sequence?Do you need to copy the sequence files again with related files like CVI dll?

Evaluating NaN Comparison Type in TestStand Numeric Limit Step
I'm using a 4070 DMM to return Resistance Measurements to a TestStand numeric Limit step. How can I use a comparison type when the LabView vi returns NaN (Not a Number). I want the step to pass as long as the Resistance Measurement is > GT some value.
NAN comparison in expressions and limit tests works as follows
(NAN > x) == false
(NAN == x) == false
(NAN < x) == false
(NAN == NAN) == true
To summarize, a NAN is neither greater or less than another number and is only equal to another NAN.
If you want NAN to fail and measurement > some_limit to pass, then just use the > (GT) operator.
If you want NAN to also pass, then you need to check for it separately. You can do this dozens of ways. Here are a few:
a) Use a pass/fail step with an expression like: Locals.x > 10 || Locals.x == NAN
b) Use two limit steps, one to check for NAN and one to check the limit. Use preconditions to specify the NAN check only runs for the NAN value and the limit check only runs for non-NAN values. This will ensure
the measurement makes it to the report.
c) If NAN is your instruments way of returning "resistance too high to measure", then you could transform the NAN into an INF in the data source expression and then use a GT limit. Example data source expression:
Step.Result.Numeric == NAN ? INF : Step.Result.Numeric -
Import hangs at step "imp single"
Dear all,
I'm importing a change request into the system, and it hangs at step "imp single".
I checked the tp system log, it shows that:

But I'm pretty sure that I have scheduled the job RDDIMPDP as user DDIC.
And I already tried to trigger the job manually, it doesn't work. Seems like the job cannot be triggered by the event....
So could everybody help me about this issue? Thanks very much.
Best regardsHello Georgine,
Just check if any time after you have started the import has there been any run of RDDIMPDP. If not then please do login into 000 once again as DDIC as execute the report RDDNEWPP.

Is there a step sequencer for drum patterns in logic express?
I was wondering is there a step sequencer for doing drum beats in logic express? It would be much easier if there were, that way I wouldn't have to record it and then try and fix my beat in the matrix editor. I believe that there is a step sequencer included with ultrabeat but I know that that is only with logic pro.
The latest issue of Sound on Sound covers how to do this with the Hyper Editor.
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar06/articles/logictech.htm
That link will only work if you're a subscriber, until SOS declassifies it for everyone in six months.
The GM method will work for something that's GM compatible, and you can use this method to create your own custom version for any other drum instrument you want. It's pretty sweet. The gist of it is you create a mapped instrument in the environment, cable it to your audio instrument of interest, rename the notes to whatever drum/percussion sound they match (if needed), create a MIDI region with one note each, then make a hyper set out of it.
It seems like a lot of steps, but it's pretty simple once you've done it once, and you end up with a very flexible step sequencer-like editor. You can repeat these steps to make editors that are customized for any instrument plugin you like. -

Decent step sequencer, preferably integrated into GB as an audio unit
Hello all,
I've got official "starving-artist" credentials and I'm looking for a step sequencer that won't set me back an arm and a leg. What I'm really looking for is something to build "fill in" drum beats to work against until I record the real thing. I'm envisioning something that will let me specify something like "I want 4 beats to a measure, emphasis on the fourth beat, high hat every third, and 1/8th rim clicks at 130 bpm". Am I totally dreaming or is there something out there like this that doesn't involve emptying my wallet? Thanks in advance!Well - you have GB, right? So you can use it to do what you want to do. Create a one-bar drum region, open it in the editor, and fill in the couple of beats that you mentioned with the pencil tool. Then loop this region for as long as you want. Takes about 90 seconds.

ITunes match completes step 1 and hangs on step 2
Up until the evening of June 10th, Itunes match has worked great. Nothing new that I can think of but it will no longer comiplete the matching process, completes step 1 and hangs on step 2 for hours and hours.
Reboot
turn off Itunes match and turn back on
turn off Genious and turn back on.
Nothing has worked so far.
Running Mavericks on a 2009 Imac with latest version of Itunes. Cant figure out how to get help as Itunes match is not listed as an option for support just Itunes and The Itunes store.
sure could use some advice that does not include trashing my library.
I have about 6,000 tracks in my Match library.

Exchange 2013 CU6 installation hangs on step 9: Languages
Just had Exchange 2013 CU6 update hang on Step 9 of 18: Languages. It was stuck at 0% for almost an hour. I was able to get it moving forward by disabling SCEP 2012 by killing the process and deselecting check certificate for server certificate
revocation in IE. Both steps were taken nearly simultaneously and the install process for Exchange jumped up immediately. Both steps were taken based on info from:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/2a346a37-d092-4189-8a07-e8a9971925f1/cu2-installation-hangs-on-step-9-languages?forum=exchangesvrdeploy

Just wanted to post that this issue was encountered on CU6 as well. Has anyone had a similar experience or able to tell which of these two steps (or both) is actually needed?Hello,
Thanks a lot for sharing, saved my day!

TestStand hangs and closes the sequence editor whenever I try to access Help.
I'm having trouble whenever I try to access TestStand Help... in the help menu, the "contents" and "search" tabs work fine, but the "index" tab is the one that is giving an error... when clicked, it gives the following error and closes the application.
"AppName: seqedit.exe AppVer: 3.5.0.725 ModName: itircl.dll
ModVer: 5.2.3790.80 Offset: 0000800a"
Can anyone identify the cause for the problem?Hi Sud:
The problem you are seeing seems more of a windows error and not a TestStand one. Please see the following instructions that might help you:
To resolve this problem follow the commands listed below to register the file itircl.dll:
• Open up a DOS Window by going to Start --> Run.
• Type cmd in the text window.
• Type: cd c:\winnt\system32
• Register itircl.dll by typing: regsvr32 itircl.dll
Thank you

Premiere CC 2014 hangs when sending sequences to Media Encoder CC 2014
Whenever I try to send a sequence from Premiere Pro CC 2014 to Media Encoder CC 2014, Premiere immediately freezes and becomes unresponsive. AME seems to still be running just fine.
I've tried the following troubleshooting steps:
– Clearing the media cache.
– Clearing and moving the scratch disks.
– Deleting all render previews and re-building them.
– Completely re-installing all of Adobe's Creative Cloud suite.
– Importing the at-question PPCC14 project file into a fresh PPCC14 project and importing only the sequence I need to export.
– Dragging and dropping the at-question Premiere sequence into AME.
– Opening only AME and trying to drag the entire Premiere project file from Finder.app into AME's render queue. (This happens to work, as a matter of fact, however something strange happens once the sequence is in the AME queue. It pops up just fine, I can change the render settings and file export location, but when I click the green play button at the top right, nothing happens. AME doesn't hang or freeze up or anything, it's just that nothing happens. No prep, no nothing – very strange.)
– Uninstalling CUDA completely and tried using only OpenCL and software-only rendering engines.
– Opening the same at-question project on an entirely different computer.
– Trying to export from PPCC14 itself.
– Tried opening up an entirely different PPCC14 project and exporting – worked perfectly. So it must be something with this specific project file.
I eventually got it working (honestly, I'm not even sure what I did – at that point it felt like I was in a zombie state after four hours of troubleshooting and was just repeating troubleshooting steps because I was trying to hit a deadline with this export.) I was able to export it directly from PPCC14 – I was never able to get it to work with AMECC14, however.
Other miscellaneous noteworthy things: This project I'm trying to export is massive – it's a feature documentary that's about 2 hours in length. It's very complex in its edits, has a mixture of ProRes 422 files and .MTS files, and the entire project is reading media from three separate USB 3.0 hard drives. I know that's not the ideal workflow, but it's been doing just fine until this last time I tried to render out the latest export for our client.
Thanks in advance for anyone's help.I've tried importing into a new blank project, but that did not seem to work. I then tried selecting the sequence in the bin and exporting that as a "Simplified Project" via the File menu. That still does not work when sending the sequence to AMECC14, but it does work when I render straight from PPCC14.
I have also found that as long as I give it enough time to load up and all that, I seem to be able to export just fine from PPCC14 itself – I'm still getting the freezing/hanging when trying to send to AMECC14 however.
Thanks for the help so far Cgunningham – I really appreciate it. I'll keep following up here if I find anything else new out. -
TestStand hang, Execution with Event-Callback-VI
Hello there,
I try to build a UI in TestStand 3.1 and LabView 7.1. I don't want to use Application-, Execution and SequenceView- Manager because you must use the SequenceView-Control to display some Details of Execution..
While executing a Sequencefile I want to show StepName, StepIndex.. on Front Panel with normal String- or Numeric-indicators.
To get a high Execution-Speed I don't use MessagePolling and create a UIMessageEvent-Callback-VI.
At first I tried to update my Indicators by using the References of it. But the UI hangs by trying to open a VI-Reference per Path. Open a VI-Reference by String works, but sometimes it hangs by closing this Reference. This effect occurred at my PC (Pentium 4 2,8 GHz 1GB Ram) after 20 minutes up to 9 hours. At a Pentium (Hyper-Threading) 3,2 Ghz, 512 MB Ram it hangs after a view minutes. On an old Pentium (200Mhz, 256KB) it works fine for a Week!?
So I changed the updating Indicators to Global Variables, with the same effect.
At last I removed all these to run a Sequencefile without any information about the status of the execution and again the UI hangs.
So I don't know what to do... What's Wrong?.
Please answer me.

Your OI layout looks nice. We were finally able to reproduce the problem, and as you thought it does appear to be a hang somewhere in the Open Reference call that you were doing. We tried to attach a debugger to the process but the problem would not reproduce, so we will have to try to work more on this to figure out the exact cause and determine if we can prevent the issue internally. Since it appears to be hanging inside the LabVIEW call, it is unlikely that a fix is in the near future, so if we can workaround this in anyway this would be the easiest solution.
I was able to prevent the senario that you posted by serializing the calls in the sequence case by wiring the error out from the Close Reference to the Property Node call for UIMessagePollingEnabled. I do not know if this type of fix will apply to your complete OI code base.
You should also be aware of a general issue that is documented in the Using LabVIEW with TestStand manual in Appendix B - Using the TestStand ActiveX APIs in LabVIEW.
Setting the Preferred Execution System for LabVIEW VIs
If your VI calls synchronous methods of the TestStand API, you may need to correctly set the LabVIEW Preferred Execution System for your VIs. If you call synchronous methods that will not return until the LabVIEW server executes a VI on behalf of TestStand, the VI that calls these methods and the VI that TestStand is attempting to run using the LabVIEW VI Server cannot be set to run in the same LabVIEW execution system. If the VIs are set to run in the same execution system, you will experience a deadlock since the execution system that the VI needs to run in will be consumed by the execution of the synchronous TestStand method. In addition, since LabVIEW handles ActiveX communication through its user interface execution system, neither of the VIs in this scenario may be set to run in the user interface execution system.
For example, you can have a LabVIEW code module that calls the Engine.NewExecution method followed by the Engine.WaitForEnd method, and a new execution that calls LabVIEW code modules. Deadlock can occur if either of the VIs in this scenario use Same As Caller or User Interface as its preferred execution system. In addition, both VIs in this scenario must use different preferred execution system settings. The LabVIEW execution system is configured in the VI Properties dialog box for each individual VI.
Sincerely,
Scott Richardson

Step - "Sequence Call Name" usage
I wrote a program that uses teststand API calls to delete specific DLL calls and replace these with a VI call, unfortunately this method does not copy step settings (preconditions etc. ) Right hand file shown in attachment.
I later found that it was better to just change the adapter type (since the step settings will be kept) Left hand file in attachment.
When I compared the output of these two methods I noticed that I seem to have accidentally set the "Sequence Call Name" as shown in the right hand file in attachment. (no doubt a bug in my first program)
Can anyone tell me what the "Sequence Call Name" field is used for in the example shown and what effect that accidentally setting it may cause?
I opened the right hand file in Teststand but I can not find that property in any of the step settings.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Solved!

FileDiff.jpg 347 KBHey 4watt,
The Wait step has the ability to wait until a thread or execution is complete, and one way to specify the thread or execution is to choose a Sequence Call step from the sequence. This sets the Sequence Call Name property in the step.
One of the other properties of the Wait step is the "Wait for" property (WaitForTarget in TestStand 2013). This property will be a numeric value between 0 and 3 indicating which of the four settings in the Wait step is being used (Time Interval, Time Multiple, Thread, or Execution). Therefore, you shouldn't have a problem with the Sequence Call Name property set as long as the Wait For property is set to 0 or 1.
