Tethered Capture stopped working –"No Camera Detected"

Windows 7 (64bit)
Lightroom 3.3
Canon 7D – Latest firmware 1.2.3
Yesterday I had Tethered Capture working a treat. No problems at all.
Today I have attempted to use it – exactly the same set up as yesterday and Lightroom refuses to see the camera – it just says “No Camera Detected” in the Tethered Capture pop-up.
Windows can see the camera, and shows the CF card content in Windows Explorer. The Canon utility can see the camera. Even Lightroom can see the camera and can import from the CF card in the camera.
Whenever the USB cable is connected, if I look through the viewfinder and press the shutter a flashing busy light comes up, and no photo is taken. Makes me wonder what the camera is doing? Is it perhaps looking for an application on the PC to talk to?
Yesterday it was running fine with the USB cable plugged into a hub, I tried with it connected directly to the PC but it didn’t help.
I even tried removing power from the PC and restarting Windows – that usually fixes anything :-)
I have Googled and searched these forums but have found nothing that helps.
Is this an Adobe problem, a Canon problem – or am I doing something daft?
Anyone any thoughts?
Many thanks,
RzB

OK - so today I bring the camera and tripod back to the PC today, and hey presto - is all starts working again.
The PC had not even been restarted since it wasn't working yesterday.
Anyone got any ideas why it might not have been working yesterday?
Thanks,
RzB

  • Why did tethered capture stopped working on laptop with windows 8

It had been working great but something happened between December 2013 and March 2014 and now it does not work on my laptop which is running windows 8. If I plug into the desktop everything works fine. I suspect there was an update that is not working right. Any ideas?

  • Can't get LR5 tethered capture to work for 70D - EOS utility won't install

I am attempting to setup tethered capture on a macbook pro with Mavericks, Lightroom 5 and a Canon 70D.
Lightroom 5 tethered capture alternates between "no camera detected" to "Canon EOS 70D" a few times and then posts the following error:
"Tethered Capture is not able to connect with the camera Canon EOS 70D (error code Canon EOS 70D). Please try restarting Tethered Capture or relaunching Adobe Photoshop Lightroom."
After browing for a solution, some have suggested that need to install the latest EOS utility software.
The EOS utility CD (ver. 28.2) that came with the camera will not install. I can browse the CD, see the files, etc. but when riunning the installation the installer appears on the dock for a split second, disappears and no error is given.
I downloaded the latest software from the Canon website, but it is upgrade only software.
I found an old EOS utility CD and it installed fine on the laptop.
I then attempted to upgrade the software by using the new CD as well as the upgrade file from the Canon website.
No matter what method I use, I still get the same results. I click on the installer, it appears on the dock for a second, disappears and nothing is installed.
If anybody has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Do I need the EOS utility software installed to perform tethered capture in LR5 with a 70D? If so, why won't it install?
    Thank you,
    Larry

"Do I need the EOS utility software installed to perform tethered capture in LR5 with a 70D?"
The answer to this question is, no.  However I am not a Mac user but many of my Mac friends complain of problems with Mavericks and LR and possibly EOS Utility.  Canon has full d/l availibe for you instead of just the upgrade. They are also on the site. (at least for Win machines)
You may need to find a Mac site to help you with this.  Sorry I am of little help.

  • Image Capture Stopped Working on MacPro

Attempted to scan material with my Epson Perfection 2450 PHOTO with Image Capture on my MacPro and received error message that "No camera or scanner connected." I have used this scanner with Image Capture routinely in the past with no problem.
When I switched to "EPSON Scan as an option, it worked without changing anything. Also, I physically moved my scanner to my MacBook Pro, and it worked perfectly with Image Capture.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    It all started with: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL900
    The solution:
    Delete - /Library/Image Capture/Devices/EPSON Scanner.app
Steps - quit image capture, unplug scanner, delete app, plug scanner in again
Reinstall old version of Epson scanner.app.
If you dont have the old version available, download from
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3429397/EPSON%20Scanner.app.zip
    unzip, drag to /Library/Image Capture/Devices/
    Restart Image capture.
And Voila, you can scan full page again...
    Worked for me...

  • Why has Image Capture stopped working?

All of the sudden Image Capture it won't open. It used to open whenever I plugged my phone in. Now I can't even get the program up and running.
I tried this Pacifist thing, but it keeps telling me that the downloader or something isn't available in the iTunes store in Canada.
Can someone please help me please?
I even searched for iPhoto on my computer... nowhere to be found.

Something isn't making sense - you say you have a MacBook Pro Mid 2010 with 10.5 Leopard on it? But Snow Leopard is the version of Mac OS X that came with the Mid 2010 MacBook Pro. Perhaps you mean you have Snow Leopard installed which is 10.6, not 10.5?
In any event, sounds like there might be some serious disk issues going on - do you have a local Apple store nearby or an authorized Apple dealer?
If not, do you have an external disk that you might install a fresh copy of Mac OS X onto your system with the original DVD that it came on to do so? If so, I would recommend doing that and then copy as much of your personal stuff off the original disk as soon as possible before it gets any worse. Do you have a copy of DiskWarrior or some other disk repair/recover tool? If not, do you have a friend or mac user group who might be able to help?
    Good luck.

  • Image Capture stopped working with Lexmark Pro915.

I use an imac (Late 2006) 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63).  I use Image Capture to scan from a Lexmark Pro915 to my computer. I recently updated Image Capture to latest version and ever since when I try to scan to my printer I get the following dialogue box:
    Choosing your scan profile
Follow the instructions to finish the scan job:
    1. Load the original document into the ADF or on the scanner glass.
    2. From the printer home screen, touch Scan > Scan Profile.
    3. Select "your computer name" to begin your scan.
To cancel the scan job, click Abort.
I contacted Lexmark customer support (from whom I downloaded the latest Image Capture Update), and they want to charge $119 to fix the issue, which they say is due to a missing file.
    Can anyone help please?

  • Macbook Air 13" Camera stops working after a few hours. Needs Restart to be functioning again. How do I fix this?

    Hello!
The camera stops working. Not detected by any program (Facetime, Skype, Hangouts, Zoom). This happens usually after a few hours of work or after the computer sleeps. To make the webcam function again I need to restart.
    Any suggestions?

Why does that seem likely to be a hardware issue? How did you come to that conclusion? Do you know something about this issue that indicates that? (I realise that this might sound short and rude - I am not trying to be rude here - just to understand) My thought is that conventional troubleshooting would say that this is a software issue because it is fixed with a restart.
I also have this problem. The camera quits working after some time - I have not been able to make it stop working. Sometimes it is after I suspend the computer (close the lid) other times it still works.
All I know is that intermittently my camera stops working and it is a big pain to have to reboot whenever I am going have a video chat.
Anyone got any solutions, I'm not covered by applecare so would rather try and fix it myself if possible?

  • Canon 6D tethered capture support in LR 4.3

    Hi all,
I downloaded and installed LR 4.3 update to my Mac running OS X 10.8.2. I have no problem importing the RAWs from my Canon 6D by plugging in the SD card into the SD card slot in my MacBook Pro.
However it appears that when I try to start tethered capture in LR, my camera keeps saying that it's "BUSY" and won't work at all.
I was just wondering does this mean that tethered capture for Canon 6D is not supported in LR 4.3?
    Thanks.

The tether support is different to the raw support and will likely be provided later down the road. Requires a SDK issued by the camera manufacturer. There are many threads in the forum concerning this issue and you can do a search for more details.

  • Auto focus on my 2 year old T3i has stopped working, any suggestions.

auto focus has stopped working.  camera is almost 2 years old.  I can take pictures at normal distance but if I try to take a picture that requires zoom it will not work and all my pictures are fuzzy.

Check the lens and make sure the "AF/MF" switch is in the "AF" position (Auto-focus is on).
Do you own other lenses and does this happen with them?
Are other functions of the lens working?  e.g. if you change the f-stop does it affect the exposure (showing that the camera is communicating witht the lens to control the blades.)
Make sure the contacts on the body and lens are clean.  Clean them only with a non-abbrassive cloth (e.g. don't use a "pencil eraser" for example) because the gold plating on the contacts is thin and can be worn off if you use an abbrassive cleaner.
Eject the battery from the camera... wait several minutes, then re-insert (this basically "reboots" the firmware.  Turning off the power switch doesn't "technically" shut it down... it puts it into a kind of "sleep" state.  But removing the batteries, allowing any capacitors with stored power to self-discharge, then re-inserting the batteries will cause the camera to boot fresh and this will sometimes clear up problems.
It's also possible that there's a problem with the auto-focus mechanism in the lens itself and the lens would need service to repair it, but you may as well rule out other things before you resort to sending it in.

  • ITunes stops working a few seconds after start-up - frustrating!!!

    Hello guys
I figured it would be better to submit this, since I wasn't able to find anything like it. It seems that people experience this when they do something specifically, but this is not my case. So long I have tried this:
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
But I can't locate the folder "iTunes" under Program Files (x86) - I can't find that folder anywhere, to be honest.
When I opened iTunes this morning it seemed to run completely normal for about five - six seconds, then the message "iTunes has stopped working.", came up and all I could do was to try again. This problem happens everytime I open the program now, always after a couple of seconds. I can do whatever I want in that period of time, the message always pops up and after that it's over. Yes, I've tried restarting my computer and those kind of things. I'm using Windows 8.1 - please help! Music really means alot to me, so this is extremely frustrating since I was about to sync a new album.
Anyway, thanks for your time and take care.

Try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

My ipod (4th generation;2GB)shuffle has also stopped working. It gets detected on windows explorer shows the content but not playing anything.
    Pl help.

many thanks. (Haven't seen one of these in a while, and now suddenly there's two in one day.)
I think some other application (apart from QuickTime itself) has stashed old QuickTime componentry on the PC in an unorthodox location. (Codec packs and video converters are the usual suspects with that, although some games might do the same.)
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
*If you have a 32-bit version of Windows,* open the "System32" folder.
*If you have a 64-bit version of Windows,* open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Lightroom 5 stops working

Have just purchased upgrade. When selecting Slideshow tab or impromptu slideshow and or try to print Sys info under help notice appears to say that Lighjtroom has stopped working and will close.
When I revert to Lightroom 4 I have no problem with these features.
I am using Windows 7 prof on PC and Windows 7 Home edition on Laptop with the same results on both. Remember I cant print Sys Info.
    Can somebody offer a solution.
    Sandy

    Hi
Thanks for your response. Since my first post I started Lr and in the Window tab I checked Slideshow. The stop working message came up and Lr closed. On a restart it came up with the Stop working message and all I could then do was to uninstall and reinstall LR. That done, it started up with the same Stop working screen so I deleted the preference file. On restart I created a new catalogue with only four photos. I purged the cache and increased it to 100gb in preferences. To my dismay when restarting and selecting slideshow it did the same thing again.
The situation is most frustrating as I have had no issues with previous versions on the same machines. At this stage the investment was a waste of money.
Are there any tech people out there from Adobe who can provide a solution in layman's terms.
    Thanks

Try this, it worked for me when nothing else did:

On the speaker, press and hold Mute for 10 seconds, the LEDs will flash briefly
Press Power to turn the SoundLink® speaker back on
    Reconnect the device, if necessary.

  • Printing to Video deteriorates and finally stops working

I've been experiencing problems with Print to Video & Edit to Tape over the past two weeks and now it has stopped working altogether. The Deck is a Panasonic DVCPro AJ-D455p. Log & Capture works fine. Edit to Tape was the first thing that stopped working. then Print to Video would send the audio but no video, then it wouldn't work at all so we were playing content directly from the timeline and recording manually. Now we can't even do this. I'm trying to identify if this is a hardware or software issue. (the deck plays fine to the monitor) Any ideas? (At first powering down the deck, restarting FCP seemed to help. no longer.) I've also checked and rechecked the A/V settings for output, refreshed the deck through FCP etc...nothing helps on the settings side of things.
    PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   FCP studio 5.0

A strange and bizzare series of events has left me baffled re: FCP. About a month ago communication with the Panasonic AJ-D455 began to deteriorate. I was not able to edit to tape, then could not print to vid, so was posting to tape playing off the timeline. Log and Capture worked fine. My external monitor would not mirror the desktop no matter what my AV settings were. Then Log & Capture stopped working. I've run FCP rescue, I've trashed preferences, I've checked the FireWire, I've checked the deck. I've reformated the entire computer, reinstalled FCP...still no luck.
Other random facts. After I trashed the preferences, the system worked normally for about 30 minutes. After I reinstalled FCP the system worked fine for 1/2 day.
Any suggestions on what to do, look for, next?
Also, the deck works flawlessly with another machine. The FW cable is also fine.
Not sure what to isolate next...

  • Ipad 3g volume buttons, sleep, and rotation stopped working

Yesterday, the volume buttons, mute switch, sleep button, and rotation all stopped working at the same time on my Ipad 3.  The top button still works for powering on/off and resetting the Ipad.  I did notice the unit was warmer than usual when it happened, but have seen that in the past after extensive use.
My hunch is that it's the button and ribbon causing the problem internally - either stopped working or came loose.  Any thoughts or experiences from others is appreciated.

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
