Tethered Capture Support

I was hoping for tethered support for my D200, any chance Adobe is at least thinking of adding this?  I love my D200 and I love lightroom, but to add a piece of "middleware" to get this to work really sucks!

Hi Freddy,
Unfortunately, the D200 modules provided by Nikon have not been stable enough in the latest OSes for us to use. Nikon has not updated them in a very long time.

  • LR3 Tethered Capture Support for Nikon D60 and D80

I was very excited when I heard that LR3 had finally added tethered capture. So I sat down today to cover the LR tutorial at http://www.photoshopuser.com/lightroom3/. As I watched, I set up my Nikon on my tripod with flash, just beaming with anticipation. I connected to my computer via the USB cable and opened tethered capture in LR3. The 'heads up display' opened as advertised, but it showed 'No Camera Detected'. So, after visiting several forums and Adobe Help, I found that my Nikon D80 was not supported for tethered capture.
    Dang!
Does anyone know if Adobe is going to add support for the D80, as well as the D60?
    Thanks.

Doubtless Adobe knows, but this is a user to user forum, so I wouldn't hold your breath for anything formal from Adobe here except "eventually". Maybe.

  • Canon 6D tethered capture support in LR 4.3

    Hi all,
I downloaded and installed LR 4.3 update to my Mac running OS X 10.8.2. I have no problem importing the RAWs from my Canon 6D by plugging in the SD card into the SD card slot in my MacBook Pro.
However it appears that when I try to start tethered capture in LR, my camera keeps saying that it's "BUSY" and won't work at all.
I was just wondering does this mean that tethered capture for Canon 6D is not supported in LR 4.3?
    Thanks.

The tether support is different to the raw support and will likely be provided later down the road. Requires a SDK issued by the camera manufacturer. There are many threads in the forum concerning this issue and you can do a search for more details.

  • [Consolidation-Locked] D4 & D800 Tethered Capture

Anyone have any idea if or when tethered capture support for the Nikon D800 & D4 will be added to LR 4?
Message title was edited by: Brett N

This is a user forum.  None of us know any more about what or when anything will be supported than you do.  Adobe does not make such announcements, probably to avoid disappointment if there are delays.  Until the support you are looking for is there, just accept the fact that it isn't there.  I know, it isn't fair, Adobe should tell, why cant Adobe, etc., etc..  It has been said before, and it will be said again.  But it won't do any good.

  • Tethered Capture Canon 600D/T3i and L/R 4

Hi, I asked the question back on the 11th March 2012 without a reply!! and ask it again now "Why is it still not possible to use the tethered capture option with a Canon T3i/600D"?
    I note that the
Canon EOS 5D Mark III — introduced with release candidate 1 (March 29, 2012)
    Canon EOS 60Da
are both included now but for the consumer who cannot afford 5D Mk IIIs Adobe have left them at the starting line.
There must be thousands of 600D/T3i owners who have also purchased Lightroom 4 and feel a little frustrated.
Yes, I no you can use the Canon software to access tethered capture but I own L/R 4 and would as a customer of Adobe prefer to use this option in L/R.
The camera has been on the market for some time so there really is no excuse not to have this option available.
    Thank You
    Russ

    Because it hasn't been implemented.

The 5DIII is NOT supported by the tethering module yet:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html
I suspect the 60Da is (even though it isn't on the list) because it's just a 60D with a different IR filter and some different software.  It might not be, however, due to the different software.
There must be thousands of 600D/T3i owners who have also purchased Lightroom 4 and feel a little frustrated.
I suspect very few owners of the Rebel series are desperately in need of tethered capture.

Frankly, I'd rather use the Canon software than Lightroom even if it were supported within LR.  LR doesn't allow you control over any camera functions and it doesn't allow you to use LiveView.  It's just a remote shutter release with auto-import.

  • Lightroom 5.7 Tethered capture

I have just installed LR 5.7 but the tethered capture now does not work for my EOS 7D mk2 . It just blicks between "no camera found" and "Canon 7D mark2"  Any Suggestions
as I  understood this upgrade was to recognise new cameras such as the mark 2

LR 5.7 supports raw files from the EOS 7D Mark II but does not yet support tethering:

Tethered support for cameras often comes in a later version.

  • Tethered Capture issue, LR 5 and Canon 7D Mk II

When I connect the camera and start TC I get the connect message and then a no camera detected, flashing back and forth about once a second -- regularly.  LR/ACR is up to date and reads and downloads the files fine.  Same thing on 2 computers.  Wonder if I have a bad connection in the camera.  Wiggling the connector doesn't make any difference.  And it hasn't been abused.
    Anyone else seen this?

The above link will provide details of the present camera models that are supported for tethered capture.
The Canon 7D Mk 11 is not yet supported. Canon need to provide the appropriate documentation to enable Adobe to finalize the support.

  • Import only JPEG, not raw w/tethered capture?

I would REALLY like to just record raw files to the media in the camera and only send the jpeg versions to laptop for viewing only during tethered capture.
    Is this possible?

    Hi Joe,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The following article will explain how Aperture works with tethered shooting, and which cameras are qualified to work with Aperture 3 or later:
Aperture 3: Tips on tethered shooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4176
When capturing via tether, images are written to the computer only.
Some cameras require a memory card to be inserted to allow tethered shooting.
Cameras that use Mass Storage mode are not supported.
    Cheers,

  • Tethered capture on D600

    Hi,
Tethered capture function on my Nikon D600 doesn't work (camera not detected) while the import function works.
    I use aLightroom 4.3 64 bits on Windows 7
    Thanks for your help
    FG

    Lr 4.3 doesn't support tethering the D600.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html
I imagine that Lr 4.4 will - but that's just a guess from a user.
Note that "camera support" and "tethering support" are different things - the existence of one doesn't imply the existence of the other.

  • Tethered capture 7D mark ii

When will tethered capture in lightroom support the canon 7D mark ii

    There are two clues,
    1. Lightroom updates are issued approximately every three months.
    2. Adobe only commences working on Tether Capture for new camera models after the camera manufacturer issues updates to their SDK for the particular camera model.
See the link below for present list of camera models supported.

  • Tethered Camera Support for Nikon D3200

I need to shoot in tethered capture mode and have found that my D90 in not fully supported in this mode.  A D7000 is fully supported, but will cost somewhat more than I had hoped to spend.  The new D3200 would be an excellent match for our needs (dental photography).  My question: Does anyone know if this camera is supported in tethered capture and if not, does Adobe plan on adding it as a compatible camera anytime soon?
    Thanks,

  • Canon 60D - Tethered capture. Does it work?

The heading says it all. Has anyone had any luch using tethered
    capture with a 60D?  I can't make it work. :-(

Yes, tried 3.3 beta. No luck. Oh well.
Its just that when tethered support was originally announced, my Canon at the time (40D) was not officially supported but yet it worked. I was hoping for the same thing with the 60D but looks like it is not to be.
