Tethered shooting in Bridge

Can or will you be able to tethered shoot in bridge 6 like you can with Lightroom3 & 4?

Unfortunately, that link doesn't work for CS6 because the Auto Preview Latest File extension is not compatible with the current version of Bridge.
However, Lightroom 4.1 works great for tethering, no other software needed.
Here’s the Adobe help page for tethering:

  • Tethered Shooting in Bridge - Display latest shot?

Using Bridge CS4 in conjunction with Canon EOS utility - "tethered" to an EOS 5D. My images appear in Bridge as thumbnails as they are shot. But the most recent shot does not appear in the preview window unless I click on the thumbnail. (this is only the second time I have shot tethered) I seem to recall that previously, the most recent shot would automatically display in Preview -updating each time I shoot again. I can't seem to find a preference or command that will fix this.
    (OS 10.5.6 - + latest Canon firmware + Bridge CS4)
    thanks

  • Exclamation (!) on images from a tethered shoot

I completed a tethered shoot last night, and today I noticed am exclamation point on two of my images (After my first edit, I have 217 images). When I click on the I get an error message about saving from the disk or catalogue-I have attached a screenshot of this error message.
Can anyone translate this message for me?
I'm on Mac running 10.6.8, Lightroom 3.6, and shooting with a Canon 5D Mark II. I literally just got my camera back from Canon, where it was being repaired for a dysfucntional port, so I am really hoping this is not an issue with my camera.
    Thanks!
    Ellen

This message can appear if you are automatically applying metadata to the image upon import. Since the metadata has not been saved to the drive yet, it wants to know if you want to update the files on your drive or go back to the original metadata thats on the drive.
So import button if you want to go back to the original metadata or overwrite button to update the files on the drive.
Its a good habbit to get into is save the metadata back to the drive when you can, that will make sure any other app that reads the metadata is using the latest data and should anything go awry with your catalog, you will have less to do to restore that catalog.
The other time you will see this message is when you use another app like Adobe Bridge to update the metadata. This allows you the opportunity to update your catalog. That would be a time to import settings from disk.
    I hope that helps.

  • Cause of Erratic Behavior With Tethered Shooting

The first time I tried tethered shooting with my Nikon D3 and D2XS, I experienced very erratic behavior, including the import window popping up and images not downloading from the camera even though the software said they were.
I struggled with these issues for over an hour and discovered a very simple fix: Consult the camera manual. Nikon specifies a very specific procedure. First, make sure any CF cards you have in the camera are empty. Second, change the camera's USB setting to MTP/PTP. Third, TURN THE CAMERA OFF (VERY IMPORTANT). Fourth, connect the camera to your computer. Fifth, launch the software and go into Tether mode. Sixth, turn the camera on and start shooting.
When I did this, everything worked perfectly. The erratic behavior disappeared.
One other word of advice. Give a few extra seconds for the first image to download. They seem to speed up after that.

I would set both express in bridge mode and set to join or create its own network.
If you want excellent range then use ethernet to the express, set in bridge mode, set to create its own network and place the express more middle of the house.
Regarding the TC , keep it in an open environment especially if using N only mode(signal strength).

  • How to keep a copy of the image file on memory card when using tethered shooting with a Nikon D800?

I love tethered Shooting but as default (at least for Nikon) Lightroom does only save the file on the computer, not on the memory card.
Now I want to have a backup of the image file on the memory card additionally to downloading it. The tethering software digiCamControl can do this with my camera, so it is technically possible.
So how can I achieve this using Lightroom tethering?

Thanks. FWIW I'm very keen on improving tethering and lobbied Adobe endlessly until they added the overlay for shooting into layouts because it was a major reason why some of my clients were unable to switch to Lightroom from PhaseOne. But we have to be realistic and remember that tethering just isn't a key market for Adobe as it is for PhaseOne, so progress is painfully slow. For example, where is live view or setting exposure which are in PhaseOne? I'd be amazed if we get those features for a few versions, and that's why I point serious tethered shooters to other solutions. And realistically, assuming your understanding of the SDK is correct you shouldn't expect a change until the next full version of Lightroom.  Good if it happens, but I wouldn't bet on it.

  • Canon 7D Mark II fails to connect with LR 5.7 for tethered shoot.

Canon 7D2 fails to connect with LR 5.7 for tethered shoot.
The camera connection does work with Canon EOS Utility.
LR sees the camera but fails to establish and maintain connection.  See small video clip to view the camera and computer behaviour while attempting to connect.
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28457054/7D2%20tethered%20test.m4v
I also have the Canon 5D3 and have no issues connecting with various software (EOS Utility, LR, Helicon Remote) on that computer.  I have a MacBookPro mid-2009 running OS X 10.8.5.  Lightroom, Camera Raw and EOS Utility are up to date, same goes for the 7D2 firmware.

It usually takes many months and perhaps more than one version of LR before tethering is supported after raws are supported.  The first hurdle is for the camera manufacturer to release a new SDK with the camera supported, so Adobe can’t have tethering ready when raw support is because a camera isn’t added until after it is announced.  Canon has added the 7D.2 to their SDK about two weeks after the camera was available, so the ball is in Adobe’s court:

  • Lightroom 3.2 Tethered shooting with Nikon D7100

I have a laptop Windows Vista which will not allow me to upgrade Lightroom 3.2 to 5.3. I have bought a Nikon D7100. Is it possible to
enable the older version of LIghtroom 3.2 to recognise the Nikon D7100 for tethered shooting?
    Cheers.

No, Lightroom 3.2 does not recognize D7100 RAW files, and cannot tether to it.

  • Setting and holding White balance during tethered shooting

I came to Apeture from Capture One Pro.  I used Capture when working for a photo studio, when I started shooting for myself I went with the much more affordable Apeture.  I have been very happy with the workflow, but Apeture seems to be missing one of most basic settings for tethered shooting, setting and maintaining custom gray balance. I realize that I can shoot a frame with a gray card and white balance that frame, but the following frames revert to the pre-whitebalanced color settings.  In Capture One, I would balance my first frame to a gray card, even add a manual tweek, and all subsequent frames would follow the new color settings.  Perhaps there is a setting I have missed, some sort of automatic inheriting of the last frames adjustments.  I realize that it is easy enough to adjust my color settings after the fact, but my color is off during shooting, and clients are not always able to envision the finished product.  I really hope I'm missing something, because it's the most important feature to me for shooting tethered, right after the ability to shoot tethered.

It forces this yucky uber warm white balance. Just to make sure it was not shot that way, I then selected "as shot". It immediatly went to the color of the shoot and looks great.
When you select 'As Shot' do the Temp and Tint settings change? How about other settings, do any of them change? Just trying to determine what is actually causing the color change.
Did you try creating a new preset with the same settings, and see how it behaves when you uncheck White Balance? The original preset file may have been corrupted (i.e. damaged) and resaves are not fixing it. If this doesn't resolve the problem then it is likely a bug with tethered mode operation. Please let us know.

  • Tethered Shooting with Nikon does not save on CF/SD Cards

Has Lightroom 5 now a solution for the tethered shooting with Nikon cameras where no save on the CF/SD cards takes place?
If not, will this covered in the future?

An external HDD does not help for the most common image loss during tethered shooting: Transfer problems.
When any transmission problem occurs while shooting and the images are not stored on the memory card, they will be gone. I can't tell you how many images I lost because I had some cable problem while being tethered.
Tethering without a copy on memory card is not a good idea, really. So since the feature is available (otherwise it wouldn't work in digiCamControl, they don't install a new firmware or use super secret camera drivers or anything) I can't understand why Adobe does not support it.

  • Tethered shooting with Canon 1Ds MarkII?

I am curious if Lightroom allows for tethered shooting. The Canon software leaves much to be desired and Capture One Pro is a bit steep at $399. I'd like to trash the Canon software and replace it with something more efficient.

Lightroom3 has 2 options to tether directly or
    through the EOS Utility software.

  • Tethered Shooting with Nikon D7000 - when?

I was quite surprised (as, it seems, have others) to discover that tethered shooting is not yet supported with the Nikon D7000 in the latest Lightroom 3.3 release.
Has Adobe made any statements regarding the availability of this feature?
Does anyone know of any workarounds for the Mac, other than the ridiculously overpriced Nikon Capture?

I keep shaking the magic 8-ball, and all that keeps coming up is:
    "Answer uncertain. Ask again later."
    Strangely non-random results, too.
There is at least one free reverse engineered camera control wedge for Nikon cameras on OS X. It worked well enough to drop photos in a watched folder for me. It may have improved somewhat since. If I can find the link I'll pass it on, but I recall I just found it via a web search.

  • Does Lightroom 5.7 support the Canon 7D MkII for tethered shooting?

I have two computers with LR 5.7. I can not get the Canon 7d II to do tethered capture on either one. The tethering tool bar flashes between " Canon 7D Mk II" and "No Camera Detected". The 7D MkII is not one of the cameras listed on the Adobe web site that will do tethered shooting. Given that LR5.7 supports that camera for Camera RAW, why wouldn't it also be able to do tethered capture? Or is there something else I'm missing?

According to the document Tethered camera support in Lightroom the new 7d II is not currently supported in Lr 5.7.

  • Tethered Shooting with 5d Mark II and Aperture 2.1.4 not working

Is the 5d mark II not supported by aperture 2? I've been successful shooting tethered with the EOS utility (version 1.6), but whenever I use aperture 2, my camera freezes up and the buttons won't work. I have to power down and disconnect the USB. On the tethered HUD, it says that the 5d mark II is connected, but i'm unable to take a picture. Anyone else have this problem, or know how to solve it?
    Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, the 5D Mark II isn't yet have support for tethered shooting as does the 5D Mark I. There is an Automator action you can set up with a "Hot Folder" using the EOS capture utility that is a decent work around. Been using this technique for several months now. I'm sure an update or next version will include tethered support.

  • Lightroom 3.0 / 3.2 tethered shooting with 550d

    Hey guys and girls,
Just starting using lightroom and have had success shooting tethered with my 400d and 550d through the EOS utility but when i go to shoot directly into lightroom i can only use my 400d.
Is there anything special I have to do to get my 550d working? or is it just unsupported for tethered shooting?
    cheers
    Jase

yeah, i tried that approach and it works fine but i think its a bit slow for quickly prievewing the image for focus/exposure.
I have to wait for the pic to be copied across to the computer, and once LR realises its there, it then has to import it into the library generate prievew etc.
Its alright with jpegs but shooting cr2's at 20ish mB a frame takes a bit of time.
Any ideas for speeding that up? my light room catalogue and watched folder are on the same drive so that shouldn't be an issue.
thanks for the help guys.  this is great!

I did find that Nikon released the developer software for the D4S back in february so just could'nt uderstand the delay especially as adobe never seems to be late taking my money each month.
