Tethering an Olympus e-3 with lightroom 4

I would like to tether my camera to Lightroom. Is it possible?

Not natively:

But there could be a plug-in or other workaround available.

    Hi,
Haveee a look here for Tethered Camera Support: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html

Can the Sony SLT a77 be thethered with Lightroom 5.3?

    Refer http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html
If your camera is not listed (only select Canon, Nikon and some Leicas are listed) then tethering is not supported in Lightroom.

  • Teathered Shooting with Lightroom 4

I've been tethered shooting with Canon for about 3+ years (EOS Utility & DPP, Breeze DSLRremotePro & BBpro), but never had sustained success with Lightroom  2 or 3 for tethered shooting.  Lightroom 4, so far, looks pretty good with respect to tethered shooting.  But I do have a few open issues with Lightroom and tethering and would like ask others if they have solutions.
    1.  I haven't found a keyboard shortcut to open the "Tethered Capture Settings" window.  Is there such a shortcut?  The only way I can see to get to that window is use Ctrl T to open the Tethered Capture Window and then use the mouse to click on the icon in the far right low corner of the Tethered Capture Window which then opens the "Tethered Capture Settings" window.
    2.  There doesn't appear to be a way to select the number of digits for the sequence counter for tethered shooting.  It's fixed at 3, which isn't always enough for some things I shoot.  I'd like it to default to 4, with an option to set it to 3 or 2.  Is there a way to do that?

If it's not supported in LR3.2RC, I think there is not be a big chance that it will be supported in LR 3.2 when it finally comes out. Maybe in some later 3.x release.

  • I have a tethered camera to a laptop with Photoshop.

I'm told I need Lightroom in order to have photos immediately transfer to computer and able to be printed?  Right now the laptop "sees" the camera as a removable storage device, and I have to go into the file manager, choose the photo and open it in photoshop.  Is there a way/program to have the photo just pop up in photoshop without the extra steps to move it into the program?  Minor on the spot editing, it's more about printing quickly.

    Hi cnestor,
As said by Joe, Photoshop does not support tethering. It is only supported by Lightroom. For instructions on using tethered capture in Lightroom, see Lightroom Help | Import photos from a tethered camera

  • Problem with Lightroom and Epson Printer

I'm suddenly having problems printing from Lightroom. I have Lightroom 1.4.1 installed on an iMac G5, and have an Epson Photo Stylus R2400. I've been using this combination from the beginning with no problems. Now suddenly when I try to print I get an error message that says Media is out or not loaded correctly. Neither is the case. I have tried restarting my computer, the printer and everything else I can think of, but nothing works. I can print from any other application without problems, so I'm assuming it's an issue with Lightroom.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? I was going to uninstall lightroom and do a reinstall but I can't find my installation disc. Now I'm at a loss to figure out what to do.
    Thanks,
    Craig

Try deleting you prefs file and/or print templates.
Lightroom is unique to many other programs in that it saves and restores printer settings. Some bad data may tried to be passes. A "fresh start" might help.

  • Problem with Lightroom and Infrared Photography

This problem is specifically related to using LR & PS to process Infrared images. I apologize if this forum may not be the correct place to ask this question.  I am having problems processing Infrared Images when using LR & PS.  I take my IR images with a 530 IR conversion to a Canon G12 camera.  I learned early on Adobe products don't play well with IR images (they come in magenta when importing ) so I bring IR images shot withmy G12  into my computer with Canon Digital Photo Professional and then work in LR & PS from there.
If I then directly open this imported image from my hard drive into Photoshop and try and do adjustments such as blue sky adjustments with a red/blue channel swap, it works fine, just as I would expect.
(If you are not familiar with IR processing, I understand this introduction and question will not make sense)
But when using Lightroom, I sometimes have issues. I always import all my images into LR. Even with IR images, after using DPP to bring them to my computer, I import them into LR for cataloging purposes and to make other potential adjustments. Then my usual workflow is to move photos from LR to Photoshop via the "edit in" command. This opens a dialog box giving a choice of "edit a copy with LR adjustments" which is the default option and the one I always use, or "edit original".
Here's the interesting thing I finally discovered.
If I send the photo from LR to PS using the "edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments" option, I get a bad blue sky effect, where the sky is green and the foliage is pink instead of the sky being blue and the foliage yellow. But if I send it to PS using the "edit original" option, the blue sky effect works fine.
So there appears to be an issue when tring to send IR images from Lightroom to Photoshop. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

Thanks so much for working on this.
I fear the behavior you noticed was just due to the fact I cheanged the
file from 16 bit to 8 bit so the size was smaller and I could easily email
it.  When I open any of my regular 16 bit files, whether I send them to PS
as "edit original" or "edit copy with lightroom adjustments", they both end
up as 16 bit and as far as I can see, seem the same, though obviously they
    are not.
I don't really have a preset, but I'll walk you through the process.
    1. Choose Channel Mixer from the Adjustment Pannel
    2. Make sure the output channel is red, change the red channel slider from
100% to 0% and increase the blue channel slider from 0% to 100%.  You can
    type in the values.
    3. Change the output channel to blue.  Increase the red channel from 0% to
100% and the blue channel from 100% to 0%.
This is supposed to change the sky from brown to blue and the foliage from
blue to yellow and is what happens when you use the "edit original"
option.  When you use the "edit copy with lightroom adjustments", the sky
turns green and the foliage pink.  So you get 2 different behaviors,
depending on which option you use to bring the image from LR to PS.
That's my question, why do you get 2 different behaviors?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

  • Creating video stills with Lightroom 4. Suggestions for improvement.

I have to create a lot of videos stills from videos. I am doing it with iMovie and SnapzProX right now. I would like to do it with Lightroom 4 but the work-flow has to be improved. Right now it is pretty unusable for my special purpose. I explain why.
In iMovie I play a movie in full screen presentation mode. You can start and stop the movie with the space bar. You can navigate frame-by-frame with the arrow keys. Unfortunately you cannot jump by 10 frames if you press shift and arrow keys (like in other video apps). The video scrubbing area goes across the whole screen, so you have space enough to scrub and find the parts in the video that you like to grab. All in all this makes it pretty easy to find the exact still frames that you then can capture with SnapzProX. The down-side is that you have to organize the captured frames yourself by importing them into Lightroom.
Now we have video import in Lightroom 4 and we can capture frames. But the handling is not really comfortable.
You can start and stop the video with space but you cannot locate an exact frame with the arrow keys. You have to use the locator and scrub with the mouse. Since the scrubbing area is short it is pretty difficult to find the exact frame. To capture a frame you have to select the pop-up.
Here is my suggestions to turn the video feature in Lightroom 4 into a dream for people who need to capture video stills.
Make the video slider bigger. At least across the whole video.
Go to next and previous frame via arrow keys
Jump by +10 / -10 frames via shift + arrow keys
Keeping arrow keys pressed should repeat the action
Create a keyboard shortcut for capturing a frame
Imagine how this would improve the work-flow.
All videos stills would be automatically organized in Lightroom.
You have the original video file linked and can add more stills later.
You can color correct the stills.
AND - you can color correct the video.
I am just wondering how I would export the color corrected video to something like Apple Intermediate to process it further via Compressor for web delivery. I haven't tried this yet. Any ideas?
I hope my suggestions make sense and find their way in the finished product.
    Andreas

While in video, using captured frame – my picture is extracted at 19 20 x 10 80.
Attempting to use this picture in the books module causes resolution problems yet the same picture when used in the print module and save to a picture file causes no resolution problems and becomes 255 0 x 3300 when using it in the book module.
another improvement would be to set the resolution so it reacts like it does in the print module and adjust the book module similary

  • Synching comments with Lightroom/Smugmug

I have been in discussions with a developer at Smugmug about a problem I'm having with the Publish module.  When I publish even 1 new photo to Smugmug, the process first publishes the photo, then syncs comments.  Lightroom takes FOREVER to sync comments.
For example, I have a gallery with 46 photos in it.  It's a private gallery, and the person depicted has left comments on about 1/2 the photos.  I am trying to sync these comments with Lightroom, then remove the photos from Smugmug that have no comments, and then change the gallery to public so she can share it.  I started the sync about 20 minutes ago[1], and the progress bar is less than 25% of the way across.  I only have 3 galleries on Smugmug that were Published from Lightroom at this time, and I'm publishing from a Lightroom catalog that only has the last 6 months of photos in it - not my master catalog that has photos going back to 2000.
There seems to be a very poor method of communication between Lightroom and Smugmug about which photos have new comments on Smugmug.  The Smugmug developer says he is limited in what he can do with the SDK functions he can access.  He writes:
Unfortunately, I am constrained by the LR SDK in many ways and retrieving  comments is one of those cases. Within the method in LR that requests  comments, I have no access to the publish collection that they are  contained in, so there is no way for me to easily grab all the image  comments for a given album. I know how painful this process is, and I  have tried to tackle the problem from a number of different ways. I have  made some requests to the LR development team to improve this, but I  doubt we'll see anything until LR4.
I'm quite concerned about his belief that you won't fix this in the current 3.x release.  Please fix this in 3.x!  IMHO it's a really poor business practice to force users to pay you more money (e.g. to pay for an upgrade) to get a fix for serious usability issues in a current program.  Upgrading should be something users gladly do to get new features, not something users reluctantly do in order to get something fixed that was badly broken in the previous release.  The former has been (until now) Adobe's practice, the later has been seen far more often in Microsoft's practice.  Please don't emulate Microsoft's practice here!!!
    jc
[1]  Is there a log file I can look at to determine exactly how long it takes to sync comments?

As the developer in question, I'm adding some additional technical info.
Unlike the majority of other methods related to PublishedCollections in the LR SDK, the method for syncing comments (publishServiceProvider.getCommentsFromPublishedCollection) doesn't actually provide the PublishCollection instance as a function argument.
The method provides an array of PublishedPhotos for the PublishedCollection, but the LR SDK doesn't provide any way to determine PublishedCollection given a PublishedPhoto that is contained within it.
Given that there is no way (that I am aware of) to derive the PublishedCollection that these PublishedPhotos are contained within, I have no option but make a single request to API for each image to retrieve the comments, which could result in hundreds of API calls where I could achieve the same thing with a single API call if I had access to the PublishedCollection object.

  • When trying to use "Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustements" from Lightroom, Photoshop opens but no photo is displayed.

I can see from searching online that this is a regular question but I have not yet seen a solution.
I am running Lightroom 5.4 and Photoshop CC 14.2.1, both kept updated via the monthly subscription, on a 2013 MacMini running OSX 10.9.3
    Starting with jpg's:
If I try  "Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustements" - Photoshop opens but no photo displayed in PS
If "Edit a Copy" or "Edit Original" then Photoshop displayes the file OK
If I am using Canon Raw files (.CR2) from my Canon 70D, then AS EXPECTED Lightroom starts Photoshop with the intervening dialog box about opening a copy or original but again just a blank screen and no photo displayed.
Has anybody found a solution yet?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Victoria,
I dont have 3.6. but I installed lightroom 4 and the function worked fine. But i didnt like the version 4, as it consumes a lot of resources.
I can open raw files without any problem.
And this function had been working before and suddenly this stopped working. I didnt do any setttings changes even.
Really appreciate your help on this.

  • Is there any way to copy a photo with Lightroom adjustments without making a separate copy?

I do most of my printing from lightroom. I generally set up my image the way I want it for printing on photo paper, and then I make other copies and adjustments for printing on things like Canvas, coffee cups, tiles, etc.
The problem I have is I set up templates in photoshop, say for a coffee cup, which will have the correct dimensions, perhaps some text, etc. To get to the lightroom photo with the lightroom adjustments I have to "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments" in photoshop, then copy and paste the image to the template in photoshop. Now I have another copy of the image on my harddrive and in lightroom. So after I copy the image in photoshop, I close it go back to lightroom and delete the copy I just made. Besides the extra fragging on the harddrive this creates, I know I am setting myself to delete the wrong photo by accident through repetition, and it is extra work.
How can get a copy of a photo with Lightroom adjustments to the clipboard without making another physical copy of the photo?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Godspeed,
    Bruce

I may not be the best resource for tiles and cups, I've just started printing to them. Basically I'm doing them using an epson printer with dye sublimation inks printing on transfer paper and then doing the transfer at 400 degrees with a press. I wanted to be able to do my own to get the cost down, and wanted to be able to make it actually usable, (dishwasher safe, etc) so this is the best route I've found. I had to get a new printer, 2 presses, a bulk ink system, and the supplies to print on so it is a pretty hefty up front expense. It can be done cheaper though using a mug wrap heated in an oven (not your cooking oven though). I worked with the folks at Conde to get set up, and they seem pretty good. But I'm still early in the learning curve, so I would be able to tell you a lot more in 6 months.

  • Problems with running Photoshop CS6 and Bridge with Lightroom 4 also on the same PC

I was running Photoshop and Bridge, then purchased Lightroom 4. Before installingt 4 I had no problems with Bridge, but since installing 4 all of the photo's that were held in bridge are now gone, but they are in Lightroom. With Lightroom, you are able to edit photos out of Lightroom and into Photoshop when necessary, save and close and it automatically changed the Lightroom picture.
I have two PC's, one has Bridge on it (this one) and the other without, but both have both editing prgrams installed. On the other PC I can switch between Lightroom and Photoshop with no problems, but when I try to switch with this PC, the one with Bridge installed, it will open Photoshop, but the photo will not transfer. If I close Photoshop program and go back to Lightroom, it will tell me that the picture could not be transfered to Photoshop because it would not launch. If I close that message window, it will then launch Photoshop and the picture transferes over allowing me to edit and save as normal.
My question is; does anyone know if Lightroom and Bridge should run side by side, or should I delete Bridge from this PC and see what happens. Bridge is just a holder and organizer of photos, wherease Lightroom does the same, but also has post editing capabilities. The two programs seem redundant, but if your running Photoshop, it's hard to get files out of Lightroom. It seems that you need to open Lightroom first, then you can view and chose a photo to work on, then move it back and forth between the two programs. This seems to make Bridge redundant.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Hi, Yes, but that actually wasn't the problem. I start out in Lightroom,
then move to Photoshop if I have something that can't be fixed in
Lightroom. The problem was that when I tried to edit, out of Lightroom and
into Photoshop, I was getting an error message that Lightroom couldn't
prepare files for transfer because Photoshop wouldn't open. But, it had
opened, the picture just wouldn't transfer. If I closed Photoshop,
Lightroom would try again and it would open and transfer the second time. I
ended up going to the Adobe help, chat line, and they looked into my PC and
located the problem, it's now working fine. Thanks to everyone for your
    inputs. Most appreciated.
