Tethering Stopped Working??

With 3.1 tethering my XTi (400D) was working and I was soo excited because this is one of the features I have wanted for a while when I am doing studio shooting. But for some reason it has stopped working and I have no idea why?
It sees my camera when I plug it in for import, but when I go to the tethering ( File > Tether > Start Session ) nothing happens. No error, no connection, just nothing.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

Spikeyjonze,
Thank you very much for sticking with me on this one, I figured it out tonight. It is 90% operator error and 10% a misleading application error. You have to be in a "Project" for tethering to work, even though while you are in an "Album" the "Start Session" is active it doesn't actually do anything. Now I thought I was shooting into a Album before, but I must have just been mistaken.
So, Aperture developer types. I think an "Album" should act the same as a "Folder" and when you select tethering none of the options are available to choose. Here is a screen shot of tethering when I have an Album selected.

  • IPhone 3G Tethering stop working after upgrade to OS4

Hi, I have upgraded my iPhone 3G to OS4 and Tethering stop working. I am using iTunes 9.2 for both Mac OS Snow Leopard and Win XP. It indicate that USB is not connected for both OS. Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem after attempting to update last night (on my 3G). The loss of wifi was the least of my worries, however. The update process wiped out my entire phone and reset it as a new phone, and never performed the back up. So, I wasn't able to restore from a back up. It's a glitch in the update, nothing that I did, or didn't do. The issues are too long to list... UGH!
After hours on the phone with AppleCare Sr Support last night, and 5 hrs at Apple Store today (no exaggeration!), they replaced my phone entirely. Luckily, I had a MobileMe account so, I was able to retrieve/restore my contacts and apps (although the data within my apps was lost - so I have to go through all of them again). Also lost all iCal data... two years worth... not sure how that happened, since that was also synced via MobileMe... the whole update is a mess... If you haven't updated yet, I would wait to update until they work out any kinks.

  • Canon 7D tethered stopped working

When I click the shutter either on the camera or using LR, the message 'Transferring Files from Camera' stays and nothing happens.
I'm pretty sure this stopped working after upgrading to LR3.5
    I upgraded to LR3.6
    Tried three different USB cables
Tried each USB port with each USB cable combination
    Rebooted
    Followed every step here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/894/cpsid_89486.html
Note, everything works fine using Canon EOS Utility
I noticed someone mention upgrading to LR3.6C but I don't see where to download that. Wouldn't it be here?:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=113&platform=Windows
    Also, in this article:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/842/cpsid_84221.html
5D, 1Ds Mark II, 20D, EOS 350D (Rebel XT/EOS Kiss Digital N) on Windows require a driver downloaded from Canon. This driver is not available for 64-bit versions of Windows.
Is it possible that the 7D should be included in that list?
    My setup:
    Sony VAIO laptop
    Window 7 x64 SP1
    Intel i5 2.67GHz
    4GB RAM
    USB 2.0
    LR3.6
Is anyone else successfully shooting tethered with a Canon 7D?

I'm happy to say that tethering is working after installing LR4.
    Thanks!

  • Bluetooth tethering stopped working

    Hi,
I’ve been using my phone’s data connection to go online with my macbook by way of Bluetooth. It’s been working fine for about a year, but sometime in the past few months (possibly after the 10.5.6 update) it stopped working. Now when I try to hit the connect button in the network preference panel, I get "A Bluetooth serial failure has occurred: Failed to open an RFCOMM serial channel. Check if authentication needs to be enabled in your device."
I’m sure that nothing has changed on the phone, so somehow the OS isn’t recognizing the phone as a modem anymore. Can anyone offer up any help?
    Thanks

deleting the blues tooth preferences would reset them to default.
but to revert to an earlier of bluetooth you may want to try replacing 2 bluetooth drivers from your install DVD.
Use pacifist so extract and install
    /System/Library/Extensions/IOBluetoothFamily.kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext
disclaimer I have not needed to do this on my system and cannot be responsible if anything breaks it is just a suggestion.

  • Tethering stopped working on windows 7 after itunes 10.7 update

This problem seems to have been addressed many times in the forums for Apple OS, but not for Windows. Most reponses refer to the kext files which as I understand do not apply to Windows?
I have an iphone 3G that I updated to IOS 6.0.1, and this also required me to update iTunes to 10.7. However after the update USB tethering no longer works, nor can I get USB hotspot to work. The driver installation repeatedly fails.

Sorry I didn't update this sooner. Not sure exactly what worked, but what I did was uninstall some recent Windows Updates, uninstall the MotionInJoy drivers I was using to get a PS3 controller to work (I had read these drivers could be an issue), restarted at least once or twice, and FINALLY got Bluetooth working again. Then (re)updated Windows, but NOT the Bluetooth update that was available (perhaps I did the first time around, and perhaps it isn't Boot Camp friendly), and then reinstalled MotionInJoy, but kept the PS3 controller plugged in via USB, as when it goes Bluetooth, apparently it overwrites all other Bluetooth drivers, which could have been my original problem.
Anyway, all of the above has been working just fine for a couple of weeks now, but I continue to avoid installing the available Bluetooth update via Windows Updates, just in case.

  • USB Tethering stopped working after OSX Update to 10.6.4

I'm using the I-Phones tethering option on the swiss Swisscom network on daily bases.
So far no problem using it with the USB cable.
Since the latest OSX Update the availability of tethering by USB is very inconsistent.
    Bluetooth works perfectly.
Strangely the Network panel shows the USB connection as not functioning but all I-Phone Functions such as I-Tunes connection, picture connection to I-Photo works perfectly.
Deleting and reactivating the USB-I-Phone setting in the network panel didn't work neither resetting the network services on the I-Phone
Any ideas how to get this back to work?

  • USB tethering stopped working after iMac software update.

Yesterday my Internet was slooooow so I followed a tip to repair disc permissions in disc utility, at the same time I was downloading and installing software update for the iMac. I've always tethered with a USB cord (Bluetooth has NEVER worked with the Mac and phone, but does with the iPad).  All the solutions I find one here for this issue give instructions I don't understand (where/how to do them exactly, like iPhone config utility...where?!), and how I'm supposed to download iTunes again on a mac that has no Internet because i can't tether...physically impossible. Very frustrated.  I don't understand why software updates are issued that cause problems like this, but no immediate solutions updates are issued after. One top of that, how are we supposed to fix issues when we can't tether and dont have separate Internet (I can't update my iPhone software without a special trip to a wifi hotspot....I live in Saudi Arabia...it's not easy to do that).
Sorry, so many questions. Frustrated.  I there a SIMPLE solution out there?!

  • New iPad tethered to iPhone 4 both on iOS 6, iMessage has stopped working.

Since updating to iOS 6 on both devices, iMessage has stopped working on the iPad when tethered.
It still works on the home wifi, but the progress bar goes to about 95% done before a send failure message comes up.
I haven't found any other apps not working over the tethered 3G network
iMessage is turned on and works elsewhere.

  • Tethered Capture stopped working –"No Camera Detected"

    Windows 7 (64bit)
    Lightroom 3.3
    Canon 7D – Latest firmware 1.2.3
Yesterday I had Tethered Capture working a treat. No problems at all.
Today I have attempted to use it – exactly the same set up as yesterday and Lightroom refuses to see the camera – it just says “No Camera Detected” in the Tethered Capture pop-up.
Windows can see the camera, and shows the CF card content in Windows Explorer. The Canon utility can see the camera. Even Lightroom can see the camera and can import from the CF card in the camera.
Whenever the USB cable is connected, if I look through the viewfinder and press the shutter a flashing busy light comes up, and no photo is taken. Makes me wonder what the camera is doing? Is it perhaps looking for an application on the PC to talk to?
Yesterday it was running fine with the USB cable plugged into a hub, I tried with it connected directly to the PC but it didn’t help.
I even tried removing power from the PC and restarting Windows – that usually fixes anything :-)
I have Googled and searched these forums but have found nothing that helps.
Is this an Adobe problem, a Canon problem – or am I doing something daft?
    Anyone any thoughts?
    Many thanks,
    RzB

OK - so today I bring the camera and tripod back to the PC today, and hey presto - is all starts working again.
The PC had not even been restarted since it wasn't working yesterday.
Anyone got any ideas why it might not have been working yesterday?
    Thanks,
    RzB

  • Browser stops working while being tethered to my pc

I noticed that when my phone is connected to my laptop for about 10mins my browser connection stops working on my laptop.  When i unplug my phone the browser starts working again.  Is there a setting on my phone to prevent this from happening?

I logged out of iCloud on my PC then logged back in again.  Then I opened the control panel and clicked Apply.  Pictures arrived.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop...

I have a Tour 9630 and just installed v6.0 and receiving an error window "Blackberry Desktop Software has stopped working. A problem as caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  I have not received any message from Windows after 2 days.  Has anyone experienced this problem?  If so, I would appreciate any guidance.  I have Windows 7, if that matters. Thank you. in advance.

    Hi somewhatstock
How far did you get with them? Did they have any ideas what might be causing the problem? Trying to work on it myself, so trying to eliminate what others might have tried. Curious why it works on my Desktop however. Losing tethering really causes problems as I rely on tethering with my laptop quite a lot.
    Any information most welcome,
    regards,

  • ITunes Wifi sync has stopped working

iTunes has stopped syncing over wifi with my iPhone 5S and iPad Mini. It's always been a bit flaky, but has recently stopped working completely. iTunes will not see the devices unless I either reboot them, or plug them in with the Thunderbolt cable, deselect and select "sync with this device over wifi" and apply. If I try to use wifi sync, iTunes gives me a "looking for device" message and then drops the connection.
My set up is a Mac Pro running 10.10, hooked up to an Airport Express via Cat 6. Both iOS devices are on iOS 8.
I have tried changing the IPV6 settings on both my machine and my Airport Express, resetting the network settings on both iOS devices, and flushing my machine's DNS cache.
I see the following messages repeated in my system log:

  • Personal Hot-spot has stopped working for no reason

I had a perfectly functional Person Hotspot (data tethering) feature with my Vodafone UK connection, and the data tethering plan I had enrolled proved more economical than those regular USB dongles. Recently, I upgraded my vodafone plan to allow for a higher usage - and somehow the person Hotspot just stopped working. Every time I navigate to the Personal Hotspot Button, the tab - which used to read 'Enable Personal Hotspot ON/OFF' - now reads 'Setup Personal Hotspot'. When I click on the link, it directs me to a Vodafone Iphone Advertisement page.
I contacted Vodafone officials, even personally visited their store and got a confirmation that the data tethering plan is active, and there should be no problem with my iphone's data tethering capability. The best advise they could suggest was to backup and restore the Iphone using Itunes. Well - I tried that as well, and still the problem persists.
Has anyone faced this problem before? Can anyone help - where exactly can I reset the Hotspot settings, or even enter it manually to get it working? I've tried backup and restore, reset cellular data network, Disable and re-enable 3G,  ejecting and re-inserting Vodafone SIM........  The hotspot was a wonderful feature, would love to get it back.........!!
    Thanks!

Thanks Dodie.  My personal hotspot just stopped working.  I use it all the time and it was driving me crazy having to connect via usb.
I have used the reset before and forgot all about it.
Simple fix, get it got it, good !

  • I have a mac book pro that both USB ports have stopped working one about a year ago and one recently. Is it possible to connect to another one of the other MBP's  ports with a cord that ends with a USB port?

I have a mac book pro that both USB ports have stopped working one about a year ago and one recently. Is it possible to connect to another one of the other MBP's  ports with a cord that ends with a USB port?

Thank you For your time and thoughts!
I went by the Apple Store and they told me that there was a "Flat Rate" repair service for this particular part where they would replace the logic board along with the USB ports for $350. Seems like best avenue. All of this would have been moot but my wifi in the computer also doesn't work so I was using my phone as a hot spot and tethering it to the computer for Internet access when the last port quit. This left me with no internet and no printing capabilities on the computer I use for my business. Basically became a nice paperweight. lol
They will ship it off Monday and I should have it back Thursday!
    Again, thank you!
