Tetris always starts with the same blocks

Has anyone else noticed that the first game in Tetris after launching it always starts with the same blocks? For me, it always gives me the red "Z" block, the yellow square, the green "Z", orange "L", purple "T", blue straight block, blue "L", and so on. Every time. Without fail. And although my second game starts with something different, all second games always start with the same sequence too (purple "T", orange "L", yellow square, green "Z", red "Z", and so on).
Seems to me like whoever wrote the random number generator used by Tetris did a very poor job. Hopefully EA creates a version 1.1 to fix this, and Apple makes the update available for free to people who already bought Tetris. I find it hard to believe that something so obvious made it past QC.
PowerMac G5 Dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   5G iPod 60GB

Definitely agree about the need for a 1.1 update. The random generator and also the fact that, on my iPod at least, if I am listening to music and playing at the same time, whenever there is a change in tracks, the game locks up for a few seconds and I can't see the piece and it ends up dropping some place unexpected. This desparately needs to be fixed as many a 12th level game has been ruined because of this.

  • Starting with the same folder automaticaly any time opening bridge

Hello everybody, is it possible to configure adobe bridge that way that each time I open it bridge is going to start with the same folder? Or can I tell bridge to use the folder that was opened when closing bridge the last time?
Thank you very much for your help.

Bridge always points to the last folder location that you used. So, each time you open Bridge, it will start with the same folder location.
However, this can be reset by resetting Bridge preferences. Resetting Bridge’s Preferences « Julieanne Kost's Blog

  • [SOLVED] XFCE always starting with the US keyboard

    Hi guys.
Recently I came back to XFCE and I have one problem: it always starts with the keymap set to US. I have to manually change it to PL (which I need) with setxkbmap. Also, when I'm using the panel plugin I cannot choose any keymaps other than the currently selected.
What can I do about it?
Last edited by JeremyTheWicked (2008-10-12 21:49:56)

The way I deal with the multimedia keys is that
    1) figure out what keycodes they generate (run 'xev' and do some presses)
    2) assign the correct name to them via xmodmap
maybe 3) use xbindkeys to let them do what they should do (but this is probably not necessary, DEs like xfce should be able to act just based on having a correct name assigned to the keypresses)
    the xmodmap stuff:
    ~/.xmodmaprc wrote:keycode 144 = XF86AudioPrev
    keycode 153 = XF86AudioNext
    keycode 162 = XF86AudioPlay
    keycode 164 = XF86AudioStop
and then have 'xmodmap ~/.xmodmaprc' executed at X start (again, some DEs do this automatically, some don't)
But! maybe figuring out the correct option for your keyboard might render all of the above steps unnecessary. I don't know a good place to look for the options, except closely inspecting the contents of /usr/share/X11/xkb - there's a lot of stuff, but that's for instance where I found out the possible variants for the us keyboard.

  • Mail app always starts with the standard account.

Mail app always starts with the standard account.
Can´t it start in the mail overview, where all different mailboxes are shown.
    iPhone 4 did it..
    Opens in standard account:
Should open in MailBox-Overview: (here just one mailbox)
    7.1.2

After some searching I have found a solution. I had to delete the contents of the following folder:
    ~/Library/Mail/myemailaccount/.OfflineCache/
Note: replace "myemailaccount" with the appropriate folder on your computer that represents your e-mail account. Once I deleted the contents of this folder (there were 2 files), and restarted Mail, there were no problems.
Hope this helps a few people in the future!

  • How can I clear out whatever is making Firefox always start with the restore sessioin screen?

The restore session screen appears with the same website. I cleaned out my cache, updated to the latest version and it still comes up with the restore session.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • I can't get Firefox to start with a blank page, which I always managed to do up till 17.0, buy now it always starts with the last page.

I have been using Firefox for several years, and know how to set my Home Page by going to Tools/Options/General, and selecting the appropriate tab.
However, since the last update to 17.0.1, It now always starts as it was when I shut down, including multiple windows if I had them open. It is so irritating that I am considering changing my browser.

  • Version 6 & 7 always start with the "Almost there" message. How do I stop the message?

When I start Firefox on one computer, the first tab opened is always an "Almost there" welcome message (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.6/whatsnew/). This is not the home page which also opens in another tab. This happens in all accounts on this computer, running Windows XP SP3 Professional. I have uninstalled and re-installed the software. I have attempted to delete all associated files. I have attempted to delete all entries in the registry. This problem has existed since sometime in version 5. How do I stop this? • How to connect my macbook to the Airport with the same IP?

Hi to everybody! Most of the times I want to use amule it is firewalled because the IP changes everytime I connect my macboook to the Airport express: 10.0.1.2 or 10.0.1.3 and so on. Is there a way to say that I want my macbook to be always connected with the same IP? Since I couldn't do this I started to map the amule ports (TCP and UDP) for each IP, but I realised that I can't use the same ports (let's say TCP 4662 and UDP 4672) for different IPs. Why is that?
    Thanks in advance!

I believe that an AirPort Express can be configured to do that. Launch AirPort Utility, enter "manual setup" mode, select the Internet panel, then the DHCP tab. There should be a section of the screen at the bottom labeled "DHCP Reservations". Click in the "plus" sign at the bottom of that section and fill in the details that you want.

You have to tell the router to send messages addressed to a certain port to a specific IP address, otherwise it wouldn't know how to route the messages. It would be like trying to assign a phone number to two different phone line circuits.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen starts from the same song

I recently updated my iPod Touch 4th gen, 32 GB to iOS 6.1.2, from 5.1.1. I skipped iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1, and 6.1.1. After the update, I noticed that when I play music from my "All Music" list, my iPod always starts on the same song, no matter what song I listened to last. Sometimes it starts at a song that's farther down the list, but I haven't been able to figure out what circumstances caused it to start at that song. To make things more confusing, once it chooses a different song, it always starts from that song.
I have confirmed that Shuffle and Repeat are both OFF. This issue occurs whether I have recently charged/synced my iPod or not. It also occurs after I perform a hard restart on the iPod. I have not tried restoring it, because I have not had time to dedicate the several hours it would take to re-install iOS and copy all of my stuff back onto it.
My computer is running Windows 7, 32-bit. My iTunes is version 11.0.2.26.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone has questions relating to this issue, I'd be happy to answer them.

I didn't mention this in my initial post because I didn't think it was relevant, but the Home button on my iPod doesn't work. I've been using the virtual home button provided by turning Assistive Touch on.
I did try the first solution you suggested, but nothing happened. I'll make another post when I try the second method.
On a side note, and if it makes any difference, the device in question is not a phone. It's an iPod Touch.

  • Multiple volumes with the same name

If I look at my /Volumes folder using Finder>Go>Go to Folder.. I see seven different volumes all starting with the same name:
    MyName
    MyName 1
    MyName-1
    MyName-2
    MyName-3
    MyName-4
    MyName-5
(as well as my external drive and iMac HD)
MyName has a folder icon, and contains 1 folder called Backup which then has my 1Password.keychain in 7 different versions.
MyName 1 and MyName-1 are aliases and have icons for shared volumes. The only differences I can see are that in "MyName 1", the folders for Backup, Groups and Library are all displayed as aliases, whereas in "MyName-1" they are displayed as standard folders.
MyName-2 through MyName-5 all have folder icons and are empty.
I can understand that I could have a local and remote copy of my iDisk, hence the "MyName 1" and "MyName-1" volumes, but why all the others?
Should I delete any of MyName-2 through -5?
Is any of this slowing down iDisk syncing or searching?
    Thanks in advance

    I have the same problem
an external firewire drive "232 GB" is gaining an extra, sequentially numbered, mountpoint in /Volumes/ each time it is unplugged and re-plugged.
    This is a bit of a pain as Xtorrent is downloading to a folder on this drive and so, whenever it is unplugged, I have to either;
    restart all the downloads or,
before launching xtorrent, go into /volumes/ and delete the last mountpoint (so the system automatically adds the one Xtorrent is expecting)
just noticed you're in Sheffield too, maybe it's a local problem....
    no idea what's causing it

  • Oracle Forms - two forms have element with the same name. How to address?

    Hi all
We test application in Oracle Forms 10G, often there are several forms opened simultaneously.
And now question – what to do if two or more forms have element with the same Block Name and Name?
    For example:
    //forms:button[(@name=’TOOLBAR_EXIT_FORM_0’)]
    How to address these elements?

    to aamat:
"The names are not the same"
OpenScript gives them the same name, it consists of block name + element name + index. it doesn't take form name into consideration, so it gets
    //forms:button[(@name=’TOOLBAR_EXIT_FORM_0’)]

  • Blocks corrupted always with the same checksum 0x400

    Hello Oracle gurus,
Need your help with finding source of block corruption errors that we observe repeatedly on one system. See the error below.
Location of the corrupted block is always different, but the computed checksum is always 0x400. Only one block gets corrupted after a couple of days of stress testing. We completely re-install OS (RHEL4) and re-create DB. Still the same error with the same checksome appears, but in a different location. This happened 3 times already.
Does anybody know what 0x400 corresponds to? Is it all zeroes?
In my understanding, if the corruption was caused by a drive error, such as a single bit flip or several sectors corruption, then the computed checksum would be always different.
Is this correct? Any other ideas what can be the reason for such corruption?
    Thanks a lot.

Well I understand that, however Oracle is running on higher level (application level).
It's hard to trace a potential lower level ( hardware level) problem in high level application.
The least thing you can try is find out which object this corrupted block belong if it's always same object or some pattarn you can tell then there might have something to do with Oracle.
If it's totally random then it's hard to say.
