TEXT 2 AUDIO

I am studying for a promotional exam, and have several documents I will like to convert them from text to voice and save them in audio formats so that I can take them and sync the audio files on my iPhone and listen to them on the go, what will be the best way to do this with out purchasing 3rd party software, and the files being a decent size to store on the iPhone? Thanks any feedback will be great!
P.S I don't want to record my self, but let the computer read the documents....

Creates .aiff (uncompressed) files.
You can then convert it to mp3 or acc in iTunes for smaller filesizes...
You could also create your own Programm with Automator for using a different built-in voice than "Alex".

Thank you for contacting me, however I already know how to save text to
audio files via timeline using the Export feature.
So my question was not entirely clear and I apologize for that. To explain
further, whenever I save a text to audio file, captivate takes me to a
default save as folder where I then have browse back to my production
folder where I am keeping all my Txt to Aud files. This is very tedious
process when you have alot of files to save. So my question was is there a
way to configure captivate so I can make my production folder the default
file for whenever I save a Txt to Audio file through Export feature that
the system automatically takes me to that production folder, and I am
spared the long tedious process of saving the file manually to the
prodcution folder I want.
I have copy the pathway to the production folder in the URL filed in the
Save As dialoge box and that workaround as cut the work down but I still
have to paste that URL field to point the file to the right folder. So it
would be nice if I could do everything automatically. Microsoft makes this
capability in their MS Office applications, so I was thinking Adobe might
do the same thing. Your help with this would be appreicated,

Integrating Text and Audio

Hi,
I am building a web application to teach a foreign language
(with a HTML version and PDF version). Is there any way of
integration text and audio such that when an audio clip is played
the word spoken at any instant of time is highlighted.

I personally have tried everything that Apple has provided for me. All the System Restore through iTunes, Factory Reset in Settings>General>Reset. Nothing has helped me in this situation. I am currently using the iPhone 6 Plus and has had it for a little over a month. I really don't think that the issue is with the software but an issue with the hardware since my sister and other family members is currently using the iPhone 6 Plus as well and is running the current software as I am. Apple has sent me a repair box to send to them since that is my last resort since my local AT&T store wont help me, and because my nearest Apple Store is about 2 hours and 30 minutes away. If I had a credit card or tons of money in the bank I could of had them send me a new replacement in no time and I would have to do is send my old one in with in 10 days. My goal is to have received the package, and have it delievered by Monday January 5,2015. I will post of up-to-date information on how my situation has been fixed and if I have any problems with the device when I come back.

Combining printed text and audio

I have a custom-made PC with a 146 gig hard drive and 3.25 gigs of ram, and am using Premiere Pro as part of CS4 Extended Master Collection. I hooked up with an audio techie on a Mac and purchased Premiere Pro for him. We are hoping to issue dvds of spoken word performances, like Paradise Lost, where viewers will be able to listen to a reading and follow it along on a screen. We would use a format similar to the ones they use for the Bible, where there is a book with the text on the pages and the pages turn or something like that as the audio goes on. I would design the text in ID, which I've done before with a prize-winning book of my own. A few Qs:
1. Is Premiere Pro the right program to do this in? If it isn't, what, hopefully in the Adobe family, is?
2. Assuming that it is, we want to do a short dry run with a single page or two just for the sake of practicing the coordinating of text and audio. Can this be done with my giving him the text in MS Word or Word Perfect, or must I typeset it for him?

One possible way - not the only way:
Decide what font size/how many lines per page will work for the screen sizes you want to use. Remember resolution will vary.
Reformat your Word doc to these settings.
Turn off as many toolbars as possible.
Use alt printscreen to capture the displayed page.
Open Accessories\Paint and press ctrl V to paste the screen capture. (Note: there will be a dialog box to the effect that the capture is larger. Click OK.)
There will be unwanted stuff on the edges and top, etc. Do not try to crop anything at this stage!
Save the file as a jpg as this will make for a smaller file size.
Be careful in your filenaming convention, e.g., if you think there will be 1000 pages, call the first one "Page_000001.jpg." This will allow the pages to sort in the proper order.
Just create a small sample of 20 or so pages to begin with to test your workflow.
Open Premiere, set up your project for whatever output you want to use, like DV at 720x480 or ....? You'll have to do some testing to see what works best.
Import your audio file and place it on the timeline. Play it to see if there are any problems.
Import your 20 files, but do not check the sequential files checkbox - you do not want to automatically create a movie. You just want individual files.
Select the first page and drag it onto the video timeline. Play the timeline and mark where the first page's audio ends. Now drag the left edge of the video clip to the marker.
This should give you a page of "text" that matches the length of the audio.
Move the current time cursor to the mark and drag your second page into position so it starts there. Play the audio, mark the endpoint, drag video clip to match. Repeat until done. (Or until exhausted!!)
SAVE FREQUENTLY using sequential numbers in the filenames so you always have a (somewhat) recent backup version.
There may be better ways to do all of this, but at least this will give you some starting points to work with.
Once you are ready to export the video, you can use the crop function (up at the top of the export page dialog) to trim off all the unwanted borders. You can switch between input & output to see how it will look. If you tried cropping in Paint, you would have to do each page individually, and this job will be hard enough as it is!!

Hi all,
My friend recently sent me a text message with an audio attachment that she recorded on her phone (not an iPhone). My iPhone plays it fine, it just comes up as a Quicktime movie/file with no other options besides playing and pausing. Is there any way I can get this file onto my computer? I've poked around using Google, but I haven't found anything yet that seems helpful.

feature still work? I would like to take text found in a TextEdit document and not only have it "spoken" to me but I would like to have an audio file of it made that I can put on my iPod.
I find interesting stuff online that I would like to read but I don't have the time or it may be difficult to comprehend and so may require listening to multiple times. I would like to therefore listen to the "spoken word" file several times while engaged in doing other activities. But how can I get a written document onto my iPod as an audio file? Thanks.

The "Apple menu" doesn't seem to have anything called "Services" to select.
But each application's menu seems to have "Services" to select.
For instance "Firefox" or "Safari" or "TextEdit" have "Services" tabs.
(The "Finder" also has a "Services tab.")
Nevertheless I'm unable to "Add to iTunes as a spoken track."
I am "selecting text" before before clicking "Add to iTunes as a Spoken Track."
I am doing this after going to "Services Preferences" and checking the box for "Add to iTunes as a Spoken Track."
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Text Animation Audio

Hello,
I don't know if anybody else have come across the issue I've encountered.
Im using Captivate 4 with my projects built in AS3. I have used Text Animation, specifically Typing Text with Sound.Now what I have observed is that when I view the published output, all audios (for the Text Animations) plays once on the first 6 seconds of my project.
I might have been missing something here.
I am unaware of any solution appropriate for this so any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I have also observed that when I change my AS version to AS2 typing text sound(s) will not be heard while loading.
It plays only on the specific slide where is it intended to play.
Anyone with suggestion to this?

You want to create a special kind of EPUB file. It can't be done in InDesign.

Does iphone support ford motor's sync text to audio?

I just purchased a new Ford vehicle that came with Sync technology. There is the ability to have incoming text messages read to you through the bluetooth audio. When I tried this it told me that the phone doesn't support this function. When I checked with Verizon, they didn't know and suggested I check with Apple. I have an Iphone 3G. I am wondering if there is an ap that makes this possible? Any help would be appreciated!

This question is on behalf of my daughter's friend:
She uses iChat/AIM with Leopard on an Intel iMac. Lately she can webchat OK audio/visually, but any text she types or receives does not appear.

Thta is very Odd.
I would log out of AIM and change the port in iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Server Settings to 443 and Log back into AIM.

Problems with Automator in Lion's text to audio action

So, I'm trying to become more productive by turning stuff I don't have time to read into something I can listen to in the car. I created the following Automator script, but every time I run it, it crashes.
Here's the first part of the problem reporter. Interestingly, if I use a different action to get the text (e.g. take it from the frontmost TextEdit window), no problems whatsoever. The text is converted to text and added to the playlist. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it ?

I didn't test the Encode to MPEG step, but a simple workflow with the first two actions seems to work fine here.
Something else is amiss.

Automator text to audio

Hello,
I was playing with automator and I copy paste a text to converted into voice and some how got saved in my computer and every time I open an applications or move the mouse the voice with the text goes off. I been trying to look all over where the file got saved so I can move to the trash and stop this but I can't find it.
Does any one know how to fix this problem?

Did you perhaps use Automator to create a folder action that's causing the trouble?
Look for rogue entries in:

Can't text/video/audio...my ichat is BROKEN!

HELP!!
i went to the apple store yesterday to get help with my mac and ichat because i wasn't able to video chat with my friends. it kept sending me a message saying that there was a communication error. fine. when i went to the applestore they reinstalled everything and updated my computer. when i got home to atleast text chat on my laptop it wouldn't let me. when i click on text chat it gives me a totally blank screen!! when i text and send the message its just blank! please help....

There are dedicated VoIP routers out there mostly sold with Vonage or similar deals.
(VoIP uses SIP as well)
these can cause problems if the are in-line between computer and modem.
There are also some modems that Bind SIP to port 5060 and cause some Intermittent looking problems for iChat (some buddies successful, others not and some now and then)
These are mostly Thomson-Alcatel Speedtouch models and some Drayteks
The Speedtouches are popular as domestic devices on the Continent. (and Australia)
Older ones can have this Binding undone.
Also some ISPs are now offering VoIP services and block the SIP ports until people pay more. Usually telling them they have blocked an app you were using sorts this for free.
Of course hotels are starting to sue VoIP for cheaper international calls.
Another thing with hotels is the amount of people sharing the connection.
It is like a freeway it is slower when it is full of traffic.
