Text appearance changes after zooming in

When I open a certain PDF in Acrobat (I used Acrobat 9.3.4), a character is broken in the middle (a piece of the character is missing). When I zoom in heavily, e.g. up to 600% or higher, the character will built up normally again.
I tried a few other PDF viewers, but the problem only seems to show in Acrobat. In production this PDF was rendered on a APPE RIP. Depending on the output resolution the problem would occur (printed, output resolution 600dpi) or not occur (platemaking: output resolution: 2540dpi). The font seems to be a regular PS Type 1 font (fully embedded).
Has anyone experienced similar kind of problems? What I would like to know is if I'm dealing with a font problem here or with an Acrobat / Adobe APPE issue (problems with rendering certain fonts at a certain resolution to screen, to output devices)?

Since apparently my pictures seem to have disappeared:
zoom_400.jpeg:
zoom_600.jpeg:
So I assume it is an Acrobat problem then. Still strange though that is also appeared in the RIP (does Acrobat use the same PDF library or engine as the APPE to render PDF's)?
Thanks for the feedback BTW!

  • Text appears twice after exporting

On a video that I am working on there is a section with some scrolling text. It appears fine in FCE but after I export it with quicktime conversion it seems to appear with a ghost image right after it. All of the text appears twice and the second one is quite a bit fainter.
Is it a problem with my conversion settings?
    Thanks for any help.

I thought that somebody would at least know if it was possible to create a problem like this by setting something wrong in the conversion settings. Or that they would know the specific setting that would cause it. In which case they could just tell me what that specific setting was and there would be no need for me to type all of them out.

  • [Solved] Resolution/Text size changed after installing Catalyst

I just installed the proprietary catalyst driver from the unofficial repositories and followed the wiki to successfully install the driver, however upon reboot, the text size(within all the terminals) appears to be twice the size of the regular size.

I tried setting my default resolution by adding the line

so the xorg.conf file looked like this
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "aticonfig Layout"
    Screen 0 "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0" 0 0
    EndSection
    Section "Module"

After a reboot, the size was still the same.
I am not sure what else could have changed the resolution/text size of the terminals.

What is the native resolution of your display? What bootloader are you using?
I tried setting the kernel params of video to my native resolution. My native resolution is 1920x1080@144 and I'm using GNU Grub as a boot loader.
jasonwryan wrote:Reading the thread, it isn't clear to me that the issue is in the console: mainly because terminal, TTY and console are used randomly throughout the thread...
Sorry about that, I'm not sure what to refer to it as. Its the default terminal that shows up when you log on without using any graphics or any of that.
cedeel wrote:If you're going to be using the proprietary driver, you won't be able to use KMS as others have said.
That means that your TTY will be a lower resolutioon. So if you need your TTYs at native resolution, the best thing to do would probably be to use the open drivers.
I don't think think the open drivers support for 3d acceleration on the newer graphics card are as good as the proprietary drivers. Also, I do not need to have native resolution on my TTY's but it would be a major convenience to have it display at native resolution.

  • Text font changed after reopening project

I have one prject which is causing this problem
I have text in various parts of the movie, but whenever I reopen the project I find that the font has changed, but only with some of the texts.
The font I am using is Playbill and all the instances of text use that font.
After closing and reopening the project some of the text instance are correct, but some have changed to different fonts.
It's always the same instance of text which have changed can anyone help please?

I expect though that when the bug is finally fixed they will show those fonts (one up or down) that were selected!
Yes, I hadn't thought about that. It's hard to say.
My guess is that your font will stay the same, and it will be OK.
I say that because it looks like these bugs are based on a criss-cross of information between inline rendering & external rendering/export. That's why it only screws it up after you restart.
So it's like there's an incompetent monkey receiving the information you've set & saving it - who always gets it wrong. Once he's replaced, and he stops "forgetting", it should be right.
No disrespect to monkeys intended, I love them.

  • The edges of my text appear jagged after importing a .PSD file. How to eliminate

I'm doing an introduction to a film with animated graphics, and what I'm noticing is the text edges are pixelated. I adjusted the Resolution in Photoshop so I can zoom in and they're much smoother; however, upon reloading the file in After Effects it's much larger than my composition and I'm not sure how to re-size it within the existing file.

    Reduce the layer's Scale property.

  • Text color changes after render while using timecode generator/VF tool

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with the timecode generator/viewfinder tool. When I have both a Gaussian Blur (set on something other than Alpha + RGB) and a VF or Timecode generator effect in the filters, it seems to create a bug where the color I want for the viewfinder (REC) text shows up correctly pre-render, but changes to an arbitrary color after the render. For example, when I set the color to red, it becomes cyan after rendering. Anyone else experienced this problem or have a solution? Thanks.

  • Photo appearance changes after being placed

I hope someone can please help me
Im using CS4 and creating a magazine I have the
    Display at High Quality
And I am trying to Place 314 DPI Tiffs
that I have created in photoshop.
They are high quality images and they look PERFECT on photoshop.
I will attempt to put 10 photos of a model on 10 pages and 9 will work out perfect, at least 1 always comes out less then perfect.
I wont say totally pixelated but it look like a picture would look if you sharpened it way to much.
Every photo is saved the same and the same DPI and all of the others will look fine.
And its funny when I scroll over to the photo and my mouse is pressed on the scroll bar is I pass that photo it will look perfect and when I let go of the scroll bar it goes back to looking aweful.
But I see it perfect in photoshop and also in indesign when i scroll to it then before my eyes it changes back to a horrible photo.
Im so scared it will print in the horrible form, although I know its a good photo.
What am I doing wrong? how can i get the occasional messed up photo to show clear.
    Im using Indesign CS4
    in CMYK
    the Tiffs are 314DPI
im placing them and making a photo box first neither way works.
    Thank you very much

    Ken,
In this particular case I was thinking Printing might be more instructive than Exporting to PDF, but it probably doesn't make a lot of difference, and Exporting is certainly less complex.
If you decide to print, there are two important things to do: First, and this applies to any printing, not just to PDF, change the "Send Data" field in the Graphics section from the default, "Optimized Subsampling," to "All." Second, for Printing to PDF you should click the setup button in the bottom of the print dialog and choose the PDF printer, then click preferences. On the PDF settings tab make sure the default setting is for Press Quality or High Quality Print.
If the preview is behaving erratically and the view settings are correct, I'm thinking it may be a video driver problem or perhaps corrupt preferences.
To test the video driver click a blank area of the desktop and choose Properties > Settings >Advanced button > Troubleshooting tab and set the Hardware Acceleration slider to none. If that solves the problem, look for an updated video driver.
To replace your preferences see: http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/5.0/help.html?content=WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751 001ea8cb3f-6d1e.html

  • I have an older version of imovie.  After I change the photos using the Ken Burns effect and save them, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' to change the zoom, the picture appears black and I can't change the zoom?

I have a five year old version of imovie that generally works fine.  However, when I add a photo using the 'Ken Burns' effect then save the movie, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' the picture appears black and I cannot change the zoom.  Any suggestions?

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.
    See here:
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
Let us know how that works for you.

Text appearance in adobe acrobat (pro) files displays inconsistently unless you zoom in. Mainly 'i's and 'l's look bigger than they should.
    The pdfs print fine though.

Try doing a spotlight search for all files that start with AdobeFnt. They will be named AdobefntXX.lst, with the XX being some number. They will be scattered across the drive... After making sure that all Adobe applications are closed, trash all the adobefntxx.lst files, those with the 3 letter extension .lst.
Then, restart the system, and open the files in Acrobat again.
Otherwise, what happens in Safe boot? (Remember, Safe boot loads only a default set of fonts.) If they display fine there, the problem most likely is a font issue, one of the fonts that Adobe installed.
Check Adobe's web support page for troubleshooting Fonts.
    - or -
Contact Adobe about the whole issue, it is after all, Adobe Acrobat... Adobe's contact number is 800 833 6687.

  • PS CS5.1 - Changes/additions to doc don't appear until I zoom in/out of image

    Good evening,
Over the past few weeks I've encountered a problem with Photoshop CS 5.1. Anytime I make an addition or alteration to an image (not a photo, but a digital composition) whatever I've done does not appear until I zoom in or out of the image. I have also tried waiting a few seconds to see if the program just lagged but it still doesn't appear until I zoom in or out. An example would be if I add text to a document, while I'm typing the cursor will move as I type but the text doesn't appear until I zoom. This is with solid text and of a color differing from the background.
I tried increasing the memory available to the program (I have given it about 6gb), still occurs. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, problem persists.
    I'm running Windows 7 64bit, Intel i7 1.6ghz, 8 gb of memory
Any possible solutions would be very helpful. I've resorted to using CS2 and I would love to move back to CS5.
    Thanks

My dock would not appear. Checked preferences, they seemed to be locked. No change after a restart. Tried logging out of account, had to force quit several applications. Now all I have is the account desktop picture and a cusur that works okay. nothing else is on the desktop now. How do I restore?

All I had to do was complain.  I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store.  I have no idea why.

  • Po change after release and printout

    Dear Experts,
My client require if we change the PO in any field ( expect qty and amount ) our po should be go in the po release again we using release indicator 4 and 6 but we want release should be go if we change any field like date tax code text payment terms etc.
    RCR

    Hi,
System determines new release strategy only if there are any changes in the characteristic values in the PO. (The characteristics that you must have defined for the PO release strategy configured in your case, like PO value, document type, Plant, etc.)
By your question, it appears that you do not want to change even the date and text fields after PO is released, and in case you do the changes, then again the PO has to be released.
For this, you need to use the release indicator, which won't allow any changes after PO is final released. Hence, when any of the field is required to be changed, the release will be required to be cancelled first, then the changes can be done. After doing the necessary changes in your fields, like, date, text, etc., PO will again be subjected to release, and will have to be released again to proceed further.
    Regards,
    Zafar.

  • Monaco font -- unexpected appearance changes?

Monaco font appearance changes. I don't know why... I don't know when... and I don't know what to do to prevent it from changing.

  • Using MassReplaceIt to update changes after publishing in iweb

I've downloaded massreplaceit as suggested by users to update changes after publishing in iweb. i've been told this makes it easier. for example, i have a paypal button that i have to re-do everytime i publish that page on iweb. how do i use massreplaceit to make this easier? i have no idea.
    Thanks

i think you got a bit confused here
No offense Max, but I think you might be confused too
    2. there is no syncing needed for publishing iWeb
    sites or adding PayPal buttons.
Not necessarily true. It depends on how you access your iDisk.
    Method 1:
Turn on local copy of your iDisk in System Prefs, with or without automatic syncing.
If you publish your site via iWeb, now the updated pages exist online but the old pages are on your local iDisk. You need to sync (automatically or manually) to get the new pages on your local iDisk (on your computer).
Then you can open the updated files, make your html changes in Text Edit or whatever program, and SYNC AGAIN (automatically or manually) to update the online version of the site to match what you have just changed on your local iDisk
    Method 2:
Mount the iDisk when needed via the "Go" menu in Finder. This is the ONLINE VERSION of your iDisk, not a local copy. When you publish your site via iWeb, the changes INSTANTLY appear on the iDisk on your desktop. If you make html edits or other changes, they appear INSTANTLY online.
i hope you now are not confused about syncing!

  • Excel Table with Data Connection Manual Text Entry Misaligned After Refresh

    Greetings!
I have an Excel 2010 workbook that includes a table linked to my SharePoint 2013 site by a data connection. The SharePoint list feeds the table standard information that's managed on the SharePoint site, but I need the user of the Excel workbook to be able
to enter text manually in the workbook to associate local information with the line-items coming from the SharePoint list. To do this, I've added extra columns to the end of the table.
The user can enter information in the appropriate cells in the "extra" columns at the end of the table, but when I refresh the data connection, the addition of a new list item on the SharePoint side results in the user's manually entered text getting
out of alignment with the row it's supposed to be associated with.
    Example
    Column 1(SP)
    Column 2(Extra)
    Row 1
    Item 1
    Row 2
    Item 2
    Text entered for Item 2
    Row 3
    Item 3
Then, if I add a new item to the list in SharePoint, for example, something that would appear between the original items 1 & 2, after refreshing the table, I get the following:
    Column 1(SP)
    Column 2(Extra)
    Row 1
    Item 1
    Row 2
    New Item 1.5
    Text entered for Item 2
    Row 3
    Item 2
    Row 4
    Item 3
The table's data connection is set to insert rows for new items, and I could swear I had this working properly once upon a time...but I can't seem to make it work now.
Any thoughts on what would cause this?
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is. I realized after posting the first time, that I'd assigned the question to the Visio forum. I wasn't sure how to reassign to the correct (Excel) forum, so I re-posted over there:
