Text blurry when converted to flash video

I've been exporting my movies from FCP as 8 bit uncompressed to use as a master for converting to flash via the Flash 8 encoder.
The resulting images look great except for text on title cards that were created with text generator in FCP.
I've done numerous tests at various settings, but the text, after the Flash encoding, never looks pristine as it does in QT.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I don't think you're gaining anything by exporting a DV sequence to uncompressed 8 bit. If you want to improve things, try editing in a ProRes sequence instead from the get go. 10 bit color, and it should play the DV in RT without having to render it as long as your computer is fast enough. But when you recompress a DV seqence to something else, you really can only lose quality. You can't get better by upcoverting the DV, but your titles will look better in 10 bit prores. Keep in mind that once you create something (say a title) in a DV sequnece, it becomes just that... so if you were to create the title in a ProRes 10 bit sequence, theory says that it should look better.
Also FWIW, the Boris Title 3D titler is vector based, not bit-mapped like the text tools are. So it should look nicer all around.

  • FCP Freezes When Exporting to Flash Video (FLV)

    Final Cut Pro 7.0.2 freezes when exporting to Flash Video (FLV). The resulting FLV file contains only a few seconds of the exported video. A 2009 Apple Support notice offers this re. FCP 6 and CS3 Flash Video Encoder...

    Final Cut Pro: May quit unexpectedly when exporting to Flash
    Last Modified: February 13, 2009
    Article: TS2593
    Symptoms
    Final Cut Pro may quit unexpectedly when you export using QuickTime Conversion if you choose Flash Video (FLV) from the Format menu.
    Products Affected
    Final Cut Pro 6.x, Adobe Creative Suite 3 Flash Video Encoder
    Resolution
    This can happen if you use the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Flash Video Encoder and Final Cut Pro together. This issue does not occur with the Flash Video Encoder in Adobe Creative Suite 4. To work around the issue:
    Choose File > Export > QuickTime Movie.
    Be sure to enable Make Movie Self-Contained.
    Open the exported movie in QuickTime Player.
    Export the movie to Flash from QuickTime Player.

    I just installed CS5, so I would think I shouldn't be bothered with an older, problematic Flash Video Encoder. I don't think I should have to convert an MOV file to an FLV file using QuickTime Reader or anything else. Why doesn't it export correctly out of FCPro 7.0.2?

    oh well.

  • How come when I view flash videos my videos stop, but the audio plays  and I see rainbow colored lines up and down the video.

    How come when I view flash videos my videos stop, but the audio plays  and I see rainbow colored lines up and down the video. I attached a image below.

    ATR, just to make sure you understand me, all my video clips in my folders appear as the first frame of the video clip when I view my folders as (small, medium, large)icons instead of lists, when saved as .avi files but when saved as .mp4 files, those icons display as a graphic icon of filmstrip with a musical note on it. I do have various other methods to open with (quick time, windows media, winamp or real player) but prefer real player because I like it's quick and easy trimmer that comes along with it, since so many of my videos are just pet antics where you need to clip off the boring beginning and ends of the video.
    I did go on a few of the icons and right clicked, Open With, and tried quick time and also Windows Media and it did nothing as far as how the file was saved for display, and they opened the same no matter which player I used...the actual video opens and plays right at it's first frame... but it's the way it is visually displayed in STORAGE that bugs me because it isn't immediately apparent to me what it is a video of (weddings, outside the house, pet antics)... it makes me have to actually title things and read titles where before I let it just be dates because I had the visual of that first frame as a reference. Obviously, this is a problem for unedited videos only, as anything I actually work with, I do give a title along with the date of the video.
    I also just realized this seems to be the way ALL videos that are wrapped in .mp4 are displayed, as my bloggie camera's videos appear the same way. Now I know why! My other videos display as .avi's so I see the frame. Puzzle solved. Guess I'll just have to learn to live with it, as it seems to be how things display with the various formats.
    Now I need to watch some tutorials to learn how this Premiere program works! It's all new to me, since this is the first time I've been able load any of my videos onto it. I haven't even been able to figure out how to trim on it yet!

  • Text distortion when converting from QuickTime to Flash

    I am converting a QuickTime video to Flash format. Both have
    the same pixel dimentions - 200 x 150 - so I don't need to resize.
    I am using the default "flash 8 - high quality" settings.
    However, there is some large text on the opening screen of
    the video that looks fine before conversion, but is distorted after
    conversion. Any ideas how to fix?
    Edited to add that I am using the Flash 8 Video
    Encoder.

    +*Resize Filter: Nearest Pixel*+
    +*Deinterlace Filter: Fast (Line Averaging)*+
    Try changing these settings to better. The best setting will definitely look better than the fast settings. If your very picky about how your video looks and have the time to kill try best.
    Since your using multi-pass for the h.264 frame control, frame control will be read/used for each pass, adding (a lot) to the time of the encoding. One work around is to use Pro res to encode the video using frame control and then link (target) that encoding to the h.264 setting with frame control off.
    Here's an excellent tutorial on using the link (target) function in Compressor:
    http://pixelcorps.cachefly.net/macbreak-154-540p-h264.mov
    One thing you need to set for the h.264 encoding that isn't mention in the above tutorial. In the Inspector/Geometry window for the h.264 encoding you need to set the video dimensions. You'll notice it is set to Automatic with no video dimensions. For some reason you'll get an error if the video dimensions aren't set.

  • How do I specify where a skin is located when publishing a Flash Video?

    I'm creating Flash video's using the Import/Video wizard.
    When I go to publish the video, I want the HTML file located in a
    different (parent) directory from all the other video files, so
    that all my HTML files for the site are in the root directory. The
    problem is when I change the publish settings to create the HTML in
    a different location, the video works properly but it doesn't find
    where the skin is located and the skin doesn't show up. I thought
    it would be simple to just change the HTML code to point to where
    the skin is but I can't locate any references to the skin (name or
    location) in any of the HTML code. How do I change the code to
    accurately reflect where the skin is located???
    thanks for any responses.

    Select the FLV Playback component instance, change skin
    parameter at components inspector or parameters tab on property
    inspector, select "Custom Skin URL" for the skin option, and set
    the path of your player skin relative to your html.
    e.g.
    your html file located at web root directory, all swf files
    located in a subfolder named 'swf', so if you are using the skin
    ArcticOverAll.swf, type in the URL field:
    swf/ArcticOverAll.swf
    Alternatively, you can also type the full path of your skin
    file on your web server.
    e.g.
    http://www.yourwebsite.com/somefolder/swf/ArcticOverAll.swf

  • ? Convert to Flash Video?

    Will compressor convert a project in FCP into a flash video?
    Are there different size flash files to choose from.

    compressor can only do this if you have flash or the flash video encoder already installed from the Adobe CS or some other source. If you do, I would still recommend using the flash video encoder since if gives you more options. If you don't have it, then I have heard good things about VisualHub but I have never used it myself.

  • Can't see any text members when I use flash 8.

    I'm using flash 8 and some of my users are having trouble
    seeing my site because they can't see any of the text!!! In some
    computers it works ok but some users can't see any text member even
    if they upgrade the flash player to 8 version. How do I correct
    this!
    I had had problems with this when I ran a swf directly, I
    couldn't see any text; but when I put the swf into a html file I
    can see the text members that the web page has. Why is this
    happening!!! This did'nt happend with version mx. How can I correct
    this problem!
    Please help!
    Thanks a lot!
    Brenda Sanchez.

    just because people say they have flash 8 doesn't mean they
    actually have flash 8 have any of them navigated to a flash player
    detection site and confirmed they have flash 8? have any of them
    right clicked on an embedded swf and confirmed they have flash
    8?

  • Converting a flash video file to work with in FCE

    Does anyone know how to grab a flash video file off the web and convert it to a format that can be edited in FCE 2.0.3? Thanks

    Generally Flash video is streamed off a server and is not downloadable as some QuickTime files are.

  • Converting to flash video produces a single fine line

    Hi
    I export a video as a self-contained quicktime movie (1 min long) from FCP 5 and then use Sorensen Squeeze to convert it to a .flv (flash video) - the resulting flash video looks great except there is always (not the entire way through - usually in a couple of scenes) the occurrence of either a vertical or horizontal line (just a single one usually) on the video. It's subtle, but NOT good! It doesnt look like an interlacing issue as it is just the one line!
    The video was de-interlaced in FCP ( upper field ) and I am choosing OnVP6 Flash video - and have tried numerous settings.
    Anyone know how i stop these annoying lines?
    Thx

    Have you examined the area affected to see if it has excessive chroma or is too brite/dark?

  • Random bold text appears when converting docx to pdf

    I'm having a strange issue. When converting a .docx file to .pdf, Acrobat randomly makes words bold. In some instance an entire sentence becomes bold. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
    Thanks in advance!
    /Andreas

    Version 9.2
    However, by moving some tabs and margins within the word document, Acrobat suddenly recognized all the characters. Very strange!
    So, problem solved.

  • Text reflow when converting from rgb spot color to process black

    The setup that I'm using is a G5 Mac OSX, version 10.4.11. The InDesign application is CS3, version 5.0.3. The fonts are loaded into Extensis Font Reserve, server 1.7.4. The InDesign document has a text box using 2 different font sets. One set, Helvetica Neue, uses the rgb spot color. The other one, a mixed set of New Century Schoolbook, is used for a paragraph which is process black. When deleting the rgb spot color from the swatches and converting it to process black, the New Century Schoolbook reflows which had already been process black.
    If I just select the Helvetica Neue type and change that line to process black there is no reflow problem.
    When I tried this document on another Mac with the same set up there was no reflow. Is this an InDesign preference problem? Thanks

    If you change the color back and then back again, do you get more reflows?
    The reason I ask is that when InDesign opens a document, it holds the existing composition of stories until you apply any edit. So, it could be that what you're seeing here is that yours and your user's setups are different enough that reflow is inevitable the moment you edit the text, and changing the color counts as editing.

  • Dynamic text blurry when preloader is used

    I've put the skeleton of something here:
    http://www.leetilford.com/tests/portfolio.html
    Note the crisp type up front. Choose a category (bathroom or
    dining for instance) and see that the dynamically loaded type
    becomes blurry.
    This only happened when I used a preloader to load the
    category swfs, anyone know why?
    The crispness of the Portfolio type is how they all render
    when no preloader is used.
    Baffling?

    Yes. I just deleted all text boxes (including buttons) and
    made
    sure all boxes were set to static, anti-alias. But, that kept
    me from needing to embed.
    I had embedded the fonts before.
    The files are clones of the portfolio.swf which comes up
    nicely. However,
    that one is not preloaded.
    This is what I'm using for a preloader:
    stop();
    //-------------preloader------
    //make the preloader bar not appear "full" right away
    bar_mc._xscale = 0;
    //load Movie into level 1
    loadMovieNum("exterior.swf", 1);
    //note the movie to load has a blank first frame.
    onEnterFrame = function () {
    _level1.stop();
    // get the bytes of Level 1 and make into a percent
    percent =
    Math.ceil((_level1.getBytesLoaded()/_level1.getBytesTotal())*100);
    //use the percent to determine the xscale of the preloader
    bar.
    bar_mc._xscale = percent;
    // if loaded play level1
    if (percent>99) {
    //note you MUST delete onEnterFrame otherwise it
    //will continue to run.
    this._visible=false;
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    _level1.gotoAndPlay(2);

  • Part of screen blurs when convert to flash

    My movie plays just fine in Captivate, but when I convert it
    to a flash file, some of the images blur slightly. Highlight boxes
    are "off" just enough to be annoying but they are in perfect
    position in the Captivate file. What's causing this?

    In your porject preferences, do you have your Jpeg image
    quality set to a higher figure 80%+ ?

  • How do I keep my original text colours when converting from Publisher 2007 to PDF format?

    Recently I am finding that when I convert my Publisher 2007 documents to PDF, the text colours do not remain the same, but revert to black or grey?  Clip art retains its colours.  What am I doing wrong?

    They won't show up unless
    you have click on each text box
    Go  Format  > Shape
    click on lines
    chose desired line color for the borders.
    once the Borders a colored they will show up in the created PDFs.
