Text Box in iphoto books

I am trying to add a text box to my iphoto book and can't seem to figure it out beyond the small text box provided in one of the layouts. Any ideas?

You can not modify the template - the text boxes are as they are provided

  • How do I use metadata text box in Aperture Book

When I hit the button for a text box, I get a text box. Likewise for a new photo box. What I really want is a metadata text box and when I hit that button nothing happens. I have tried it with a photo selected and on a blank page.
How do I use the metadata text box in Aperture books? BTW I am working on a small sized soft cover book.

Do you have a copy of Illustrator installed?
Then just begin at page 1, read it and practice what you read. Step by step.
If you don't understand parts of it, dive into the manual as well or ask a question in this forum. But mind that not everybody has a copy of the Classroom in a book. So you need to ask your questions precisely and post screenshots of your artwork.

  • How can I change the text in an iPhoto book from Spanish to English?

How can I change the text in an Iphoto book I'm trying to create from Spanish to English??

In the Creative Cloud Application you can change in Preferences the App language. Then you can download and install additional the other language.
With Photoshop you can now go to Preferences > User Interface and switch between all installed and available languages.

  • How do you write (large) texts in an iPhoto book?

I am making an Iphoto book and want some of the pages to be dedicated to large texts. The only problem is that when I press the text box and start writing, I can't actually see what I am writing. Then if I click away I can see the text I have written. If I click the box again, and start writing again (without being able to see anything written), I write from the beginning, not from where I finished the previous writing. Plus, I can't delete the text if I make a mistake.

If the test library worked at it should with the book text then you need to repair your original library. Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

  • PDF text pages in iPhoto books

I'm not sure that this is a problem. I just want reassurance before I click the ORDER BOOK button and buy the iPhoto book I have created.
I have imported PDF pages of text into the book, as I was able to get more control over the text layout that way. However, when I proof a PDF-text page, it looks more blurry and pixellated than standard, typed-on-the-page text, as if the resolution is not quite so high. It is perfectly legible, just a shade less sharp.
Is this likely to be a resolution matter with my printer, or will the text be marginally more blurry in the printed book's PDF pages, too? If blurry is the answer, is there anything I can do before ordering the book to get the text looking just as sharp on the PDF pages as on the non-PDF, direct-to-page, text?
    Many thanks in advance.

In PS under Edit->Color Settings Working Spaces set Grayscale to Dot Gain 20% and set the RGB menu to sRGB IEC61966-2.1. This is for future uses.
Now open each file in PS CS2 from withing iPhoto, go to the Image->Mode menu and select RGB. Save the changes, Command+S, and that's it. The photo will then appear normally in iPhoto.
Here's how to use Photoshop from within iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

  • All text in PDF iphoto books displays 1 or more inches lower than it should

    Hi all
Im having a bit of trouble with my iPhoto books. Regardless of the theme when I turn the book into a pdf the text displays at least 1 inch lower that it should. It looks ok in iPhoto but is rendered incorrectly when saved as a pdf. Which means i can not get them printed.
I presume some setting is wrong but I cant work out what it is.
    thanks
    Steve

    1) it depends on what kind of placeholder it is, title or body.
    2) incorrect. You can make your slide master and then save as a theme.
3)incorrect. You may need to make the item a placeholder in the document tab of the inspector.
    4) it is easier and if you're coming from PPT it taks a little getting used to. The only thing i prefer PPT to Keynote for is the master slides (in PPT 2007).
    5) If I'm reading this right there is an option to make "default" for master. Sorry I can't check i don't have my Mac with me.

  • When adding a text box to a book, is there a way to make the background of the textbox a solid color, so the text can more easily be seen?

When adding a textbox to a page in a photo book, is there a way to make the background of the textbox a solid background (rather than right on the photo), so that it is easier to read the text?

I don't believe there is a way to change the background of a specific text box, but with some themes you can change the background of the page to a different color. Or are you wanting to put the text box on top of an image?
And I believe you can change the color of the font by highlighting the text, right or control-clicking, and choosing show fonts.

  • I hit vertical text in my iPhoto Book and now I can't change it back, help!!

I am creating an iPhoto Book, and wanted some vertical text, so I highlighted my text and selected "vertical". It didn't go vertical, but now any time I highlight any text I can't see it, and I can't change the setting back, nor can I find any help anywhere on this topic. Please help!!

This may have helped iTunes (it can see the iPhoto library - not sure if it could before, hadn't tested it).  iMovie still doesn't see the library though.  Instead, it sees a library on the internal disk with nothing in it -- there's actually no library there.  iMovie shows the external disk, but does not show an iPhoto library on it.
    Thanks for your reply!

  • I need to increase font size in a text box in a book

    What am I missing here?
I'm trying to put together a book, and I can't figure out how to make the text, in the text box, larger.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Problem solved this morning.
After reading the post: EMERGENCY: WORK LOST!
I shut down Aperture and did a consistency check. I didn't do the rebuild. But after doing that, I am now able to adjust font sizes in a book as one would expect.
Perhaps, when I was making no headway last night, merely re-launching aperture the normal way would have done the trick, so I don't know if the consistency check was the actual tool that fixed the problem or not.
I suppose consistency checks and rebuilding are good to do periodically, before problems arise.

  • How do you change the color of the text in an iPhoto book?

I am creating a photo book and the text seems to be gray. How can I change it to another color?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Select the text in the book and type Command+T. That will bring up the font pane where you can click on the T box with the color square in it. Click on the color square to bring up the color wheel and select the text color you want. You can use it to change other font attributes as well.

  • Difficulty editing text in iPhoto book project.  I add a page layout with text, but can't edit the text box., Difficulty editing text in iPhoto book project.  I add a page layout with text, but can't edit the text box.

I'm am having difficulty editing text in the iphoto book project.  I have a text box that is pre-populated with text.  I can edit the text once, then if I need to change something, it won't let me delete anything, only add to it.  Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks!

You should be able to double click in the text box and add or delete text. First  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos, create a book  and check to see if the same problem persists. Post back with the results.

  • IPhoto book order will not accept proper address???

They say city/state/zip is incorrect.....HOWEVER it is correct

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you have any text boxes in the book which you haven't used put just a space in them and try ordering again. That is a know issue with the newer iPhoto 08 version but might be affecting your ordering process as well.
You might want to check the iPhoto 6 forum as there may be a specific fix for that issue and iPhoto 6 over there.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Deleting all text boxes and images on one layer

I am designing a 240 page book where nearly every page contains at least one image and at least one text box.  The book will be printed with a varnish (a fifth plate) on every image.
The printer has instructed me to set up the varnish in the following way in InDesign:
With the finished book, make a duplicate layer.
Delete all text boxes on the new layer (including page numbers)
Delete all images (but not their containers) on the new layer
Fill all the empty image containers with 100% black
I have done this previously with an even bigger book, and it did of course take several hours, and it's also easy to make mistakes. So I thought it might be possible to do this with a script - only problem is I know nothing about scripting - so I wonder if someone would be willing to help me out?
Thanks in advance! Using ID CS5.5, win xp pro sp3.

    Hi Both,
I am having a similar problem.
I have to extract all images to a new layer, without modifying the size of the container.
As long as I am not an expert in scripting I have tried to do a simple code to obtain all links and go to its parent to change its itemlayer property to the new layer. But it is not what I am looking for and it has not work.
The layout of the current layer is based in tables, so images are anchored objects inside table cells, so when I run the simple script I mentioned I also get errors becuase it says the items are grouped. And even if I first run a script to ungroup everything I get the error.
    I would appreciate help.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How do I adjust the depth of a text box on a page in an iPhoto book?

How do I adjust the depth of a text box on a page in an iPhoto book?

You can't.  Those are fixed.  You can create a custom page in Pages where you can duplicate the background add photos with frames, any size of text box and text.  Make sure page size is the same as you've selected for the book.
Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto of that page.  That till create a 200 dpi jpeg file of that page that you can use on a blank page with an image for the background layout. This is a rough example:
    Custom book cover
    Custom text page (left)

  • IPhoto books- Delete text boxes?

For several pages in an iPhoto book I am making, I do not want any text or descriptions. However, there are empty text boxes whose outlines are still showing up. I don't want the pages to print with the text box outlines. There is nothing typed in the boxes and I have tried deleting them, but I can't figure out how to.
For the portfolio theme, the layout options include the text boxes. All the pictures are situated how I want them, but I just don't want the text box rectangles showing up. Any suggestions?
    Message was edited by: wsull

Most page layouts offer one with and without text boxes. Check the layout menu at the bottom to see if there's not one without text for your theme.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.
