Text boxes not appearing - CAPTIVATE1.1

I have a number of delegates using Cap1.1 - on some machines
when recording screens, the automatic text boxes are not appearing
when the recording has finished. (the "text box" option is checked
on all PCs in the custom options settings)
I`m sure i`ve heard this could be something to do with Flash
players - I checked one of the machines that is facing the issue
and its using Flash 9.
any help would be great

Sorry, I only keep the current version and one version back
due to storage limitations. I would note that there are few things
more difficult than to suggest a correction for an "intermittent"
problem, but I'd have to say an intermittent problem
on a version that was replaced years ago would definitely
qualify as the most difficult of all.
That said, maybe we can offer some help if we knew what the
problem was. You don't really say, except that some text-captions
on some machines are not appearing. That is not really helpful in
troubleshooting.
What is being recorded - exactly?
Where is it being recorded from - Internet, local drive,
etc.?
What are the delegates (what's a delegate?) doing at the time
they expect, but are not getting, automatically-generated
text-captions?
I am relatively certain that the problem (if I understand
that part), has nothing at all to do with the Flash Player version
installed, but beyond that, I'm sorry that all I can offer is
questions instead of answers.
Welcome to the User-to-User forums, hardyandy. Hopefully you
can give us enough additional information that we can take a stab
at helping out.

Thnx all for ur replies. Let me explain u the scenario which i work in now. I have a combo box with 4 values "other " being the last of them. If i select "other" then a text box shud appear with the label. what happenes now is i have added onChange whn an option is changed . I have named that functiion refresh for which the code goes like this..
function refresh()
window.location.reload(true);
whn i select an other option thn the whole page gets refreshed and the first value only appears. If i select other then the page refreshes and gets back again to the first value. These guys here use tags like <c: if> <C;choose> <c: otherwise> which am not familiar with. Do pls help me in retaining the option selected.. Thank You.

Hightlight boxes not appearing in Captivate 7

Hi,
I have a slide with 3 highlight boxes inserted in Captivate 7.
When all the boxes start at the same time (on the timeline) they all appear in the generated video no problem.
But when I move 2 of the boxes down the timeline to start later, they then do not appear in the generated video.
I am using Windows 7.
Can anyone help!!??!

Do not delete or try to delete embedded objects on quiz/score slide or
you'll probably get in trouble. Embedded are those objects that have no
separate timeline on the slide. The Review Area is only used to mention
when a question has not be answered (totally) and on the score slide. As
for the Progress indicator: have a look at the Quiz Preferences. Under
Settings you can uncheck 'Show progress', and the text can be changed under
Default Labels.
I presented a BYOL session about Quizzes recently. And my training always
starts with the Quiz styles in the Object Style Manager, then go to the
Master slides and tweak what is necessary. Check the Quiz Preferences, I
just pointed to; only after those three actions insert question slides.

How do you create the 'cream pop-up info text boxes' that appear when you hover mouse over?

Hi people,
I really need to know how you create the 'cream pop-up info text boxes' that appear when you hover your mouse over an object on a webpage (and often in any program e.g. Photoshop) for more than a second. I need to know because the logo on my website is the navigation tool used to return to the homepage. It is always found in the top left so the user can always click it to return.
The only problem is im the only one who knows that when you click my logo, you return to the homepage. I need one of these 'cream info boxes' (forgive my lack of knowledge) to appear so the user will figure it out.

How to change the font size of Text Box Properties Appearance tab into 2 decimal digit.

How to change the font size of Text Box Properties Appearance tab into 2 decimal digit. I am uanble to modify it to 5.38 pt for example. Its only allowing to 1 decimal place.

Click on each field and the choose Properties from either File menu (or if on Mac hold dow mouse button until context menu appears choose properties)
go to Font
choose desired size and type font,you can choose to make this the default.
Do this with each field.
Or if you have a lot of fields:
while one is selected select all of them
then go to fonts in properties
change Font and size and make default.

My mac keeps highlighting different boxes all the time and a text box has appeared on the screen that says what box is highlighted if the sound is turned up when you press a key or click on a box you are informed of the action any ideas what i can do?

Can't use all annotate actions in Preview-it's a PDF of a web screen shot. No highlight, underline, etc; can insert text, boxes, notes.

I can't use all the annotate actions in Preview. It's web screen shot saved as a PDF. No highlight, underline, or strikethough text but I can insert text, boxes, notes. On other forums this problem was solved by saving as a PDF which I have done. Any other solutions?

I don't think PDF is the way to do it, but if it was you'd need something like Adobe Acrobat Professional.

As far as Text changes, I thing the actual Source would maybe be the way to go, but you could always turn the PDF into a jpg or such, then use a Graphics program to poit out things...

Text Caption Box not appearing

HI All / Captivate 4 Experts:
I recently upgraded from Captivate 3 to 4. My text caption box is not appearing on certain slides. I do have a click box on them, however when I removed the click box and played the next 5 slides...the text caption box did not appear.
The slides that I have are meant for the user to click on certain areas with the instructions given to them on what and where to click.
Any ideas???

Hi there
I happened across a weird issue just last night that was resolved by choosing a different ActionScript version. I'm wondering if you can try this to see if there is a change in behavior.
Click Edit > Preferences > Project > Publish Settings and whatever it's set to AS2 or AS3, try the other option and see if it changes your outcome.

Delayed text captions not appearing (except in Preview "Play this slide")

Can anyone explain why my delayed text captions are not appearing in any mode BUT Preview/Play this slide. When I do that type of preview, the text captions show up exactly when I set them (starting at 27s - and are set to display for 'rest of slide').
There are eight delayed text captions and none of them show up with I preview the Project, From this slide, or Publish.
The visible flag is on, time is "rest of slide", appear after 27s, effect is not relevant, and it is not a layers issue.

Belive it or not, I wasn't being sarcastic. Only Buttons, Click Boxes or Text Entry Boxes will pause playback of a slide. So I figured if I asked how many you had, you would scrutinize the slide and perhaps discover one you had missed.
Play this slide doesn't behave like the other preview. This doesn't mean it's bad, just different. You simply have to understand that the only real reason for using that type of preview is to achieve a rough representation of timing elements. When will they appear and disappear. As you have discovered, you may not interact with them. You may only watch them. It's a bit like watching something through a window. You cannot reach through it and touch anything.

Text Functions Not Appearing in PDF (Financial Reports)

In the header of Financial Reports we are using common text functions to create the report titles with POVAlias and related functions. These headers correctly appear when printing or web viewing the reports. However, when viewing or printing to PDF - the header appears blank - the function results are not displayed.

Text Box to appear on the last page of the report

Folks,
I have a report where I am using SAP BW Hierarchy in rows. So the rows may increase or decrease.
I also want to add a Text box with some Text at the end of the report.
Since Report may have many pages or one pae how can I force this box to appear at the end of the report not at the end of each page?
I will appreciate your help.

add a single blank cell to your report, let it display the required text and position the cell relative to the bottom edge of your main table. (Properties->Appearence->Page Layout->Relative Position)

Text box not showing full text

Hi everyone
I have a text box which i am using to display the path of a
perticular file. but if the path is long then is doent get
displayed on the text box which is of specific dimension. I cannot
change the dimensions of the text box coz it will give a bad effect
on existing UI.
Also i tried using "Scroll", " Adjust to fit" and " fixed"
options for the text box but that even didn't work . If I put the
Wrap property to ture then the size of the text box is changed
which again coz the UI to look bad.
Plz tell if we have something wherein we have cursor to move
till the end of line...
So i want your quick help on this..

The properties that i have tried and applied are as follows:
Field Properties: Framing - "Adjust to fit "
editable = "true"
Wrap = " False "
Tab = "False"
the problem is the cursor is not moving forward..
I tried all other permutation and combinations but it's not
working...
Any other tip might be useful...

Text box not displaying

Marking up a PDF using the text box tool in Adobe 7.0.9, saving the PDF. Then a MAC user using Adobe 8.1.2 opens the PDF and cannot see the text box tool.
If you open the same PDF on a PC running Adobe 8 you can.
Why can't you see the text box tool on the MAC?

Are you saying they don't have the tool at all or they don't see the text you added using that tool?
More importantly, are they actually using Adobe Acrobat or are they using Adobe Reader?
(You just mentioned "Adobe" which is the name of the company not any particular application)
Are you sure they're using an Adobe product at all and not opening it in Mac Preview?

Adobe Acrobat Pro text box not printing and is hidden under box highlight.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.13. I am completing a form with text box throughout the document. I can no get the text box to printing and the text is hidden under box highlight. I have tried printing with the print feature 'Comments & Forms/ Document and Markups' with no luck.

It's doing that because you have field highlighting enabled. YOu can either turn it off or make the field read-only (if it's only used for display and not entry).

Text box not empty conditional statement

I've been asked to develop a survey and, in several places, a
score is given for the completion of text box. However, if there is
no text in the box, then a score of zero should be given.
I thought the best way to do this would be to use a hidden
field with a conditional statement saying "if text box is not empty
then score=4, else score=0.
However, firstly I'm not sure how to write this and secondly,
how do you check if a text box is empty?
I think it really calls for some human input but the client
is quite sure this is how he wants it.
The scores are all going to be inserted into a mysql database
and sorted out there, so there may be some fudge available there
but if php could do something nice in the code, that would be
preferable.
