Text cannot be resized or selected? :(

Hi, folks
I have been parachuted for an exploration into this brave new world of e-publishing. Though I have some experience in the layout of magazines and newspapers with the tools of the trade, some things amaze me and I am in that starting point where the too many answers to too many questions make you feel a bit overdrowned. So bear with me with a little of patience, please if I make some naïve questions. Here comes the first one (CS6 W7 version):
I have made my first trial in InDesign with the alternative layout for the Ipad. So far, so good. The thing rotates and changes and I have used the most ¡default' folio values I found.
However, I have been asked "Cannot the user/reader change text size or copy it to paste it somwhere else?" I have seen this (text not resizeble) happens everywhere I look in magazines in the shelves of the app store. If I choose PDF format when building the thing in folio... Well, everything can be resized but the text is not selectable and it does not reflow... so it's not 'really text'.
Is this a thing I have to live with? Is it impossible to make text resizable and selectable in a magazine for ipad made with InDesign CS6?
(As I said, more basic questions to come in the near future)

hehe, I actually wanted to write that a reflowable format isn't possible at all. This is a hard standpoint against HTML and responsive formats. But the I want to elaborate the discussion on this. Reflow works if you ignore the canvas the content is displayed on. current editorial design and designing magazines for tablets rely on a specific canvas where you can set things in. you can reflow elements if you can make the canvas as big as you like, a.k.a the scrolling browser window.
Of course we have smooth scrolling in DPS, but we rely the design on a given layout/width. The reason why HTML webdesign is so good at responsivety is the data structure of the things displayed, that can easily follow rules: Logo, Menu, Headlines, Bodytext, floating images.
Good Editorial Design is much more complex, too complex to be addressed by current tools with a managable effort.

Cannot print PDF with selectable text from Chrome

Hi All
Fairly recently (since the last chrome update?) I cannot select text in my PDFs printed from Chrome (on my windows 7 machine).
Previously, I had discovered the workaround (print using printer dialog) that is outlined here Google Chrome | Cannot select text in PDF but that solution no longer works, however. Now, even if I follow that method, zooming in shows that the text has been converted to outline and the text cannot be selected OR searched for within windows.
Doing the same print from Internet Explorer yields the expected result - selectable, searchable text.
This may well be a Chrome issue... but considering it makes the above workaround invalid I figured it should be reported. Perhaps Adobe has a big enough voice to get Googles attention.
It's such a massive pain - all PDFs I've created in the last couple of weeks are useless.

Agreed.. it is raised there also (Google Groups)... although there are multiple posts on the matter being ignored so I'm not overly optimistic.
I just figured if Adobe cared enough above the issue to write that (now incorrect) help page Google Chrome | Cannot select text in PDF then they (and others) may care to know that particular solution is no longer working.
The only thing that seems to work is Google's own "Save as PDF"... which seems to support your point, unfortunately.

I get this error everytime I try to resize selected partition. It is 340 GB volume with 115 GB of free space. I tried to make it 250 GB and I got this error. Then I tried to make it 300 GB (only 40 GB smaller - it would have much free space after that) and again - I got this error. This is external HD connected by FireWire. Neither Disk Utility nor "diskutil resizeVolume" was able to resize it. I checked the volume - there is nothing to repair. What else can I do? How can I resize it?

While you are resizing your partition, do tail -f /var/log/kernel.log or run the Console app and select kernel.log.
This will tell you why the resize is failing.
Unfortunately, it will only give you the inode number for the file or directory that is preventing the resize.
To find the file name corresponding to this inode, you can use the find command from the terminal:
$ cd /Volumes/<volume you are trying to resize>
$ find -x . -inum <the inode number from kernel.log>
Once you find the file, copy it to a different volume if you want to save it, and delete it.
Then rerun the resize operation and it should succeed. If it doesn't, repeat the above procedure until you are successful.

I want to make a dialog VI an automatically resizable and selectable message.

Notice how LabVIEW's "One Button Dialog" and "Two Button Dialog" boxes size themselves nicely to the text they're given?
I'd like a similar dialog built from a LabVIEW VI that uses a string indicator to display the text, so the user can select the text, then copy and paste it.
Has anybody build such a VI?

Start with the "three-button dialog" available in your palette. Unlike the one and two button variety, it is a plain subVI with diagram.
I has a string indicator and the diagram is visible to the programmer, just double-click it. Inside, look for "Three button dialog CORE.vi", It contains a monstrous 7 stage sequence structure containing all the logic to resize the text indicator, etc. Just gut it out for your purpose and save it under a new name. Good luck!

Requirement
I have two group ( TREE section , Detailed Section )
Tree Section have a 4 Top Org Units loaded initially when clicking on each Top org, it expands as a Tree and goes deep strucure. No trouble in populating Tree,
when I bind the Text element in the Detailed section with the PERNR, I get the Above Error.
Configuration & Code
All cardinalities are 0..N, initailization Lead selection is set for all the NODES.
TREE_NODE > MAIN_ORGEH > ORGEH > PERNR > OBJEC
Main_ORGEH has ORGEH, the attribute TOP_ORG and the SUpply function GET_MAIN_ORGEH
ORGEH has PERNR, attribute OBJID and the Supply function GET_ORGEH.
PERNR has OBJEC structure , attributes PERNR, CALC_AMT, ENAME and supply Function GET_PERNR
OBJEC has the structure objec strucutre

I dont understand why PERNR > Pernr is not being read ? why is it telling me it is empty?
Any suggestions ?

The testing Org unit does not have any pernrs , as a result it was not allowing NULL values at the NODE PERNR level ( though NULL VALUE for the PERNR attribute is set).
On passing some dummy values, the Error is cleared.
I was even populating the Chief of the Org values as default to avoid NULL Values.

Unable to Upload data from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen

Hi,
No response from BEx Analyzer when I am trying to upload around 40,000 material from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen using "Upload selections" options. But I am able to upload only 10,000 material from text file. I never faced same kind of issue when I am using BEx Analyzer 3.x. Please let me know I have to change any settings related to BEx or any other.

I cannot move, resize, minimize, or close the browser window despite everything inside the window still working.

I don't know what details are needed so I'll just rattle off anything that I can think of.
I am running an Asus laptop with windows 7. I have never had an issue with firefox in the past (beyond the usual freezing and some obvious issues with pop up ads that are par for the course with firefox since adblocker never does what it says.... not really. Lets be honest.) I am using Avast for my virus protection and it is also up to date.
My issue started about an hour ago when firefox stopped responding. The video I had playing kept going but I could not interact with anything. Assuming the program froze for the billionth time that week I rebooted it. This has always solved freezing issues in the past. Now, however, firefox is doing something new.
I can access the menus and almost everything on the window itself except for the minimize/maximize/close buttons, I cannot move the window at all, and I cannot manually resize it. I have also noticed that although videos will play, I can only click on their buttons if there is another smaller window overtop of firefox. The video controls will only appear that way and when I click them firefox naturally comes to the front and the video responds with the button I used but the buttons are gone again and I cannot resume playing without the smaller window back in front to make the buttons show again.
It's as if half of firefox is frozen while the other half is still running somehow.
I have no themes that could be causing this. Literally none. I only use firefox for the things that can no longer be opened in Opera so I have no need for any theme beyond default. The only addons I installed on purpose were adblockers (lord knows why. they don't DO anything.) though several other random things seem to have been installed over time to aid in one thing or another. Various plugins and players and versions of java, that sort of thing. But I have everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) in the addon menu disabled.
I have tried booting it up in safe mode (the program, not windows) and the problem is still there except now it won't show the menu bar at all unless I press the alt key first and even then it wont let me actually click on anything in the menu bar. When I try the whole bar vanishes. I had to close firefox with the task manager.
Rebooting will fix the issue for about 15 seconds before it all comes back.
Any attempts at updating have failed as it says I am already up to date on everything so I don't know what its issue is.
It's not an urgent issue right now as most of what i need to do can be done on the half screen window I am using, but some of my sites have buttons that literally vanish in anything but full screen and I imagine that this will be a much greater annoyance within a few days.

After following all the instructions given, I poked around safe websites as suggested. I am not sure why this step was needed, as websites functioned rather normally before I came here but I did it anyways and found that the websites still work the same as they did. I can still do everything I used to be able to do. I see no change in the function of the websites.
However, I still cannot resize, close, or move the browser window. I don't know if Netflix is a safe site or not (too many conflicting opinions on that one from the masses) so I don't know if the issue with the vanishing buttons is still there, but all the issues I had with the browser window itself is still there.
Even in safe mode the browsers three window control buttons on the top right refuse to let me use them and the window itself will refuse to be moved around.

Popup windows are small and cannot be resized in Firefox v31.0. v30.0 and earlier does not have this problem. Example: Hostgator's SmarterMail. XP, 7, 8.1.

My webmail interface is SmarterMail from Plesk as supplied by Hostgator. When Firefox updated to v31.0, I lost the ability to send mail because the popup windows for "New", "Reply", "Reply All", and "Forward" are too small to enter information and cannot be resized or maximized.
This problem does not occur with older versions of Firefox (tested 16.0.2, 21.0, 24.0, and 30.0) or with Chrome or Internet Explorer. While I am writing to you from a Windows XP Pro SP3 system, I have also verified the problem under Windows 7 Pro (x64) and Windows 8.1 (x64).
It's not profile settings, malware, or add-ons. I've tried Firefox Safemode and I've tried "Reset Firefox".
For the time being the workaround is to disable Firefox updates and downgrade everybody with v31 to v30. Please fix this ASAP. You have lots of people reporting it.

As a temporary workaround, you can block website scripts from resizing windows. It's a bit of a sledgehammer, but another user who has this problem indicated that it does stop the SmarterMail script from rolling up the window.
Here's how:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''dom''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''dom.disable_window_move_resize''' preference to switch it from false to true.

When you add your new field into the parameter mask, please check, if the value is too
long for your parameter mask site. Make a double click on the master attributes of your
report in the object navigator and look at the size of the parameter mask window.
Make it bigger, if you want (vertically und horizontally size).
Check the length of the text of your parameter mask title, too.

Basically its not suggestable by SAP that to modify the variable screen, since that has been directly delivered by SAP Object... If you still wants to modify the variable screen then your F4 will not work ijn the variable screen... Usually dont go and modify your variable screen..

Crystal Report Viewer Closes the application after showing "The text cannot be found in the report" when searching for a text in a multipage report

Hi,
I am using Crystal report viewer (Crviewer.dll) version 11.0.0.1282 to show crystal reports in my VB6 application. When we search for any text in a multipage report after the last find system shows a message "Crystal Report Viewer" "Text cannot be found in the report" and trows an unhandled error and closes the application. How can I fix this?

Can I put a text view next to a select-options dynamically aligned?

I think the only way to do it is dynamically and in the same container.
I tried putting textviews beside the container and aligns them, but I couldn't.

You may use Matrix layout to align the elements without using dummy textview.

GRC PC3.0 Task name in work inbox = WI Text - cannot access the task detail

We are using PC 3.0 -ECC6 has been upgraded to 6.05
We cannot access PC tasks from the work inbox - this is true for all the users
We can view the task - task name = WI TEXT
Cannot click on the object name to get to task details
Your help will be appreciate in case you face the same kind of issue
