Text/Code when start and shut down MacBook Air 11.6

I just got a MacBook Air 11.6'' from the Apple store and whenever I start or shutdown, I get code/text appear on the screen for a while. I tried formatting and reinstalling OSx, but it's still there... it reads

Any ideas? I don't want to have to travel 40 miles to swap it at the Apple store.

Looks like its booting in verbose mode.

    Hello,
My N6233 after switching on and entering PIN shows only white screen with battery icon and shuts down automatically after a few seconds. Would it be possible to repair it by upgrading FW by using NSU or some another SW ?
    Thanks,
    Lubo

Have you tried removing the sim card and memory card then trying to switch it on?
If it still doesn't work then your only option is to take it to a nokia care point. You cannot use the NSU if the phone cannot boot up properly.
If it works without the sim and memory card let us know.

  • Why does starting and shutting down iTunes on my Mac stop movie from playing?

Every time I start or shut down iTunes on my Mac, the movie I'm watching on my Apple TV stops playing and goes back to the menu.  It also loses the spot in the movie, so I have to fast forward to my spot.  Extremely annoying.  EVERY TIME.

Unless it is actually associated with something not working, it isn't a problem. I've always seen it on my machine, which works perfectly and has done so for 2.5 years now.

  • Ipod 2g will start and shut down after 10 secs on logo

i will hold power button then it will start loading with the logo then after 10 secs it just shuts down and wont let me get to slider

Try a hard reset. If that does not work, put it in Recovery or DFU mode and restore it.

  • Why do I see code on startup and shut down?

    Hello everybody,
I have a new iMac and for some reason when I boot up, or shut down, I can see a screen full of code. It looks like it is all the bootup information that the iMac is going through. I haven't seen this on other macs. Does anybody know how to turn this off? It was doing this right out of the box for some reason. I have applied all updates and it is still doing it.

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Normally the things you are seeing are only shown when you use verbose mode. To do this you need to hold down command+v when booting. I have never heard of nor seen a Mac which does this without holding down these 2 keys. As stupid as it may sound: I'd try this key combo and maybe it'll "go away" next time you boot again. Since I don't know of a setting which would force your Mac to verbose mode I don't think there is one. Maybe your keyboard is defective resulting in command and v keys being "sent" to your Mac? So you could also try to disconnect your keyboard at boot...
    Good luck!

  • Automatic start and shut down for Iphone

    Hello,
I usually turn off my Iphone at nighttime.
That is a nuisance because I have to turn it on and off every day and also I cannot use the built in alarm clock.
A good idea would be to let the user set a timer that automatically start the Iphone in the morning and shut it down in the evening at a certain time.
Could you please think about it?
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Andrea

You can use the Do Not Disturb feature to keep the phone quiet during your down time, then you could use your phone as an alarm clock.  It's what I do.

  • ICal starts and shuts down

    Hi,
I have an iCal problem that I did not find an answer to. My iCal starts, shows appointments and tasks and such and then shuts down by itself after 10 - 20 seconds.
I used 'The Missing Sync' in the past, but uninstalled it, and I recently ran the 10.4.11 update, but iCal did not change behavior.
The HelveticaNeue font is installed in the correct directory and I am not using a font manager.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Frostey,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The first and easiest troubleshooting step involves replacing/refreshing the com.apple.iCal.plist file.
Quit iCal and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Drag the file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.

  • IMac starting and shuts down after less than one minute...

    Hi !
I hope someone could help me with this problem...
    I think I've tried everything... CMD+Alt+P+R / CMD+R / ... SMC...
I'm a little lost because I can't access to the computer (it shuts down before arriving on the desktop). I've also tried to access just to the hard drive by connecting 2 Mac with Firewire cable... And the same problem appears. The iMac is also shutting down to soon to backup anything...
Is there someone who has experienced the same problem ?
    Thanks !
    Best regards,
    Jonathan.

    Hi Jonathan..
Just to rule out any hardware issues, might be a good time to run the OS X Lion: Use Apple Hardware Test

  • Shutting down Macbook air

HI my new macbook air is shutting down randomly and without notice. is this something from within the computer? or do i have a virus? i just dont know what could be causing this and its new so im kinda freaking out.

Shutting down or just the screen going black?  Big difference.
Either logic fault, monitor feed issue if the later.  More info needed.
You need to make an appt. for free diagnostic evaluation from your local Apple store.

    Hello Amanda:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
If you installed the software that came from your printer from Lexmark - uninstall it. Most printers are plug and play - using the built in drivers in OS X. Then uninstall the printer and try to reinstall it.

  • Slow start up and shut down after Zenworks installation

I hope someone can help me out on this one. Not sure if I am posting the
right forum or not but here we go. After I installed Zenworks on our PC's
here at work, we have a noticed a distinct difference in how long it takes
for the PC's to start up and shut down. Before installation, everything
was very quick, like it should be. Now it seems to take some users 3-5
minutes to start and shut down their PC's. The machines are running
several different OS'es. Windows 98SE, Windows XP Pro SP1 and Windows XP
SP2. No one OS has more problems than the other. Has anyone heard of
Zenworks causing this issue or heard of a way to prevent this? I would
really appreciate any help you can provide.
    Thanks!

  • Satellite P10 - start up/shut down are not working

I hope someone can help me. My Satellite P10 is having problems starting and shutting down.
When it starts up, it goes to a black screen with white wording, asking if I want to start windows normally, or in safe mode etc - it won't let me start it normally so I choose the option 'last good start up files' (or similar wording).
The pc then carries on starting up. I did a system restore but it's made no difference. Once it's started up, it's a lottery whether it's going to be ok, or whether it's in the process of crashing.
To shut down, I've got to push the off button, there's no other way it will shut down.
I've run avg, spybot, lavasoft adaware, xsoftspy, registry mechanic, spywareblaster etc but there doesn't seem to be anything 'wrong'.
The only thing I've installed recently is the new avg 7.5 and legacy family tree software - I downloaded both programmes from the manufacturers sites. Avg is free, although I might just have visited a crack site for the code for legacy :)
I would really appreciate it if anyone is kind enough to give me some advice :)

    Hi Joao
I have had a bit of luck so far - I downloaded a little executable which checks for trojans - I had been infected by ntrootkit. I managed to get rid of it (switch off system restore, run security software, edit registry & reboot) which has in turn sorted out the start up and shut down problems.
However, I'm still getting problems - when I start up, it's in the lap of the Gods whether I need to reboot before I can open my broadband software.
Also, when it's playing up like that, I get a 'beep' when I try to stop processes through task manager. I've got a horrible feeling that it's the motherboard. Once I've rebooted, it's fine again.
This is driving me nuts... if anyone has any ideas on this latest development, I'd be grateful!!

  • Bridge mail starts and shuts in a loop on Playbook

    Dear all,
All of a sudden my bridge mail flickers white (looks like start and shut down of bridge mail in a loop) instead of opening.
BB is 9900 and PB has latest OS (2).
    Is there a known problem?
I already experienced the same when i used OS 2 Beta and the workaround with the app "Bridge OS2 alternative" does now work as well.
I appreciate any hint before I start reinstalling everything.
    Many thanks,
    Christian

    Thanks aandras,
I previously had the problem too with the OS2 beta and then awipe fixed it, that is somewhat understadable.
But now it happened all of a sudden.
In the meantime I deleted another approx 200 mails AND installed the new PB OS update that just was released.
    Still no change.
Wiping is no option since it took me months to make the PB as it is right now and I do not know what it takes me to make it as it was before.
Isn't this a Blackberry support forum? Where are the geeks from RiM to help me out of this thing? I doubt I am the only one with this happening. Just "Hey dude, if it flickers just wipe that thing" cannot be the only answer.
    help!

  • P7-1597c Commences Starting then Shuts Down

    OK this may take a bit; I will start computer with built in graphics running, it will work for a couple of cold starts then try to start and shut down. I will put in my graphics card GE640, the computer will start and work fine I can restart but if I do a cold start it will try to start and shut down; so I will revert back to built in graphics; then install GE630 Graphics Card, computer will start, run fine and same symptom on cold start and the cycle continues. The following are some important additions I have made;
    Added SATA Hard Drive
    Added 750W Power Supply
Added 8GB Ram (I have 64 bit system)
Using HP 27" Backlit LED Monitor & ACER 24" Monitor
    Anyone have any ideas?
