Text delays with iPhone 4S
I am often having significant delays in receiving text messages since going from the 3GS to the 4S. It can be 10 minutes or 1 hour and once 10 hours. I'm on ATT. Is this my phone or my service? This never happened on my 3GS.

I'm from the UK. You've probably migrated from a regular size SIM to a micro SIM, perhaps that is faulty?
Next, delays might be caused by the sheer volume of people testing out the iMessage and iCloud feature.
It could be your phone, try your SIM in another handset (use an adapter to make the SIM full size again), see if the issue is still there.
With service providers they don't guarantee any delivery of text messages within a set period of time, some don't even gaurantee delivery at all. Kinda like the post!

Go into Settings>Messages>Send and Receive> Is your phone number checked there? If you do not want your email used, then tap on them and remove the checkmark. If there is no checkmark by your phone number, then turn iMessage off, perform a reset on the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. Turn iMessage on. When it activates, check your settings again under Send and Receive and make sure the number is checked and the emails are not.

I experience voice delayed conversations when using my iPhone 5s - way more than my 4 ever had. Why? Verizon in both cases.
If anything, that would more than likely be carrier related. I used to see that a lot with Nextel devices. It had to do with their network. You can try a reset on the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. See if that helps. You can also go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings, which will also reset your cell network, and any wi-fi networks and passwords and see if either helps.

My IPhone broke yet again due to "known issues", so I am back to an android. But, I cannot text anyone who has an IPhone, had this issue previously and Apple nor my carrier helped out. I have removed my number on Apple.com, as told by my carrier which doesn't help. Also, the IPhone did a factory reset by itself and cannot get past the plug in with itunes screen, and the phone will not stay on when plug it into a computer.
You need to immediately change the password for the Apple ID, for starters. If have iCloud and Find My iphone enabled on the device you can remotely wipe the device. If you do not then there is nothing you can do except change the password for the account.

Texting problems with iphone 5
I recently bought a factory unlocked iphone 5 and I've been having trouble sending text messages from it.
1. I cannot send text messages but I CAN send iMessages and MMS's. If I type something in the subject line, even if it's a blank space, and then type something in the body, then it will go. But if I don't type anything in the subject line then the text doesn't get delivered. Similarly, if I keep MMS switched off then messages don't go through.
I can, however, receive texts and imessages.
2. I can't activate iMessage or FaceTime. Both get stuck on waiting for activation. However, my appleid is recognised and I can send/receive iMessages using that even though it is still "waiting for activation".
3. When I try to FaceTime, the call goes through and then either gets stuck on connecting or I get a message saying I'm not not available for FaceTime ( I tried calling myself from my iPad 2 to iPhone 5 and vice versa)
I live in the UAE so I know that FaceTime is not available on apple products meant for this geographical location, but iphones and ipads bought from other countries were able to run these apps without any problem. iMessage was always available and our phone numbers were easily activated on the iPhone 4/S
Anyone have any idea on how to get this to work again? Especially the normal texting bit.
Thank you!I think it's a problem with unlocked phones cos if you google it you come across a lot of people in different locations using different carriers having this problem. i'm hoping its a software and not a hardware problem.
I have a dual sim for the same number and when i use the other microsim in my iphone 4 i can send/recieve text messages just fine. i have a problem only on the iphone 5. -

I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. I have no problem sending the text messages but I'm not receivng any from iPhones at all. It has been about a week now that I'm having this problem. I've already tried fixing it myself and I also went into the sprint store, they tried everything as well. My last option was to contact Apple directly. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off so that I can receive my texts.
If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it. Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

How can I recover texts & contacts on iPhone 5c after syncing it with an old iPod touch backup?
I used to have an old LG flip-phone and an iPod Touch. I lost the iPod Touch about six months ago. This week I got my iPhone. I had to go to the Verizon store to have them take all the contacts off the LG phone and put them onto my iPod.
I had painstakingly pared down my iTunes music library to choice selection of checked items that were small enough to fit on the iPod touch. I didn't want to go through that process again, so I hooked my iPhone up to my computer for the first time, opened iTunes, and synced with the iPod touch backup on my computer. It would have been smart to have backed up the iPhone first, but I didn't. Since I couldn't text with the iPod Touch, it didn't occur to me that the existing texts on my iPhone would be overwritten.
Now all the media files and apps from my old iPod Touch are on my new iPhone 5. The new iPhone apps I downloaded yesterday are on there, too. But the contacts and texts have vanished.
To review: no iTunes backup of iPhone data. No iCloud backup, either-- I've never used iCloud before.
I downloaded Wondershare's iPhone Data Recovery program and used it to scan data on the device. The scan shows 0 contacts and only the 2 text messages that I've received this evening. Curiously, it does have my entire call history from the last week.
So is there any way to recover the texts from this last week?

There is no other way to recover this material, and yes it would have been a good idea to backup the iPhone prior to the restore. Remember that a restore to a previous date deletes everything on the device and puts it back to the state of things on the date you choose. The texts and contacts would be gone. Did you possibly sync the contacts with a supported application on the computer? That is the only other way to recover contacts. They are designed to be synced with a supported application on the computer, or with a cloud service such as iCloud, Google or Yahoo.

when i send a text message with my new iphone 5 to my wife who is now using my old Iphone 4 we both receive the message. How is this possible? Also she receives all text messages sent to me. She obviously has a different phone number and a different provider

When I create a text message from my contact on my iphone 5, the contacts mobile number appears and not there name. But when they respond to my text, is shows up as a new text message with there name. How do I fix this?
Double click the home button and swipe up the messages app to stop it, then open the app again. This pretty much completely stops the process and freshly opens it again, resolving problems at times. I have had this happen before as well on my iPad, I get a banner, check messages, and nothing new is there.
If that doesn't work, close the app like suggested above, but then restart the phone by holding down the home and lock button for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears. -

I reply through the gmail app on my phone and it's been working out fine for the past year. The other day I was experimenting with iMessage on my MacBook and i responded to a few messages from people with iPhones through my MacBook. I didn't like it so I logged out because suddenly I wasnt getting e-mailed those messages like I was before. Now that I'm logged out I can recieve any messages and a friend says that it auto responds with "this person can't be reached with iMessage at this time"
What can I or my friend do? I don't want to buy an iphoneyes other people can send an email to me through their text message app on their iphones and it works fine. theres just one person who cannot and she lives in a different state. i did tell her to delete the entire thread of messages that i have with her but i'm not sure if she did it correctly and may still be replying to a message that i sent through iMessage days ago. i just sent her a message about turning on her MMS. i am also asking her to send the messages to a completely different address that she doesnt have in her phonebook so hopefully that will work.

what does it mean when you receive a text on your iphone 6 from your own number and the message is duplicated on each side (sent/received) and has "verizon message" with a long number at the end of the text, duplicated as well?
Great question stacybrownie! Let's get to the bottom of this so that it's not a cause for concern. When a message is sent to/from your own number, it will display as one sent, one received. This makes it display two messages as you are seeing. Let's clarify the second part of your question. Where do you see "Verizon Message" exactly? What is the long number at the end of the text? When did this start and is it with all text messages or only this instance?

When sending a text to another iphone it sends it twice and the reply comes delayed, sometimes hours later. How can I fix this?
That usually means that the recipient is in a bad wifi or cellular data signal area.

hi, okay well whenever i text someone with my iphone and they have an iphone as well underneath the text i sent it sometimes will say read and they will reply back. But then normally it says "Delivered" but they respond why isnt it saying "read" after each text or soo? like im confused
Every imessages will show delivered below the message once its delivered, it will only show read if the other person has the "send read reciept" turned on , on there phone.
