Text Display Issues in Mac OS 10.6.2

I just got a new computer, and have Mac OS 10.6.2 installed, and have been having severe display issues with the Flash player (10.0.42.34) on all browsers. I have tried using the Flash player uninstaller, then reinstalling a couple of times. The only consistency that I can find in the display issues is that text doesn't render as it should. Here is a screencast of my issues: http://screencast.com/t/MTVkMWIzZGYt (the annotations editor on YouTube doesn't display text, and neither does the Google Finance chart)
Additionally, sometimes on YouTube, the timeline bar will suddenly span the entire length of the player, rendering the controls on the player useless.

Apparently this was a system font issue, per this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10709308

  • Text display issues with htmlText, Embedded Font

    Hey All,
I'm having an issue with the display of my hyperlinks in a
textfield that is using embedded fonts. It offsets the hyperlinks
to the left along the line they are on and the underline doesn't
stretch all the way under the text field. The text display normally
when I don't embed the font. For some reason I think this might
have to do with the embedded character range so I opened it up.
Does anyone know if this range is enough or if there are special
characters flash uses that need to be embedded for their width even
    though they arn't displayed.
    Embedded range:

  • HT1338 Black/Noise-swirl display issue on Mac Mini late 2012

I have been getting Black/Noise-swirl display cut-outs lasting up to 3 seconds, occuring about twice a day.
Hardware: i7 Quad-core Mac Mini (L2012), 4GbRam, 1tb HardDrive - currently using the Apple HDMI to DVI apdapter into a  LG Flatron IPS225 LED Disaply.
The problem doesn't appear to be related to any particular app that was running.
The LG display is LED IPS and is at full 1920 x 1080 resolution. Overscan is off.
Trying to determine if it is related the screen or if this is to do with the Intel Hd Graphics chip within the Mini, as both are recently purchased, so it is quite a concerning issue!
Has anyone else been getting similar problems?
    Any help appreciated! thanks

  • Display Issues with Mac Pro 1.1 HELP!!

    I have a Mac Pro 1,1:
    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
    Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MP11.005D.B00
    SMC Version: 1.7f10
    Running OSX 10.6.3
I'm on my second graphics card [ATI Radeon HD 2600] after having issues with the original [NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT]. The issue with the NVIDIA card was that, at times, it would display digital artifacts, glitches, distortion and freeze up the system forcing me to have to do a hard shut down. I found many reports of similar issues with that card and the Mac Pro 1,1's.
When I replaced it with the ATI the problem went away for 6 months and now IT"S BACK.
So, are there any particular graphics cards that work OK with the Mac Pro 1,1? I don't want to waste my money again only to encounter the same issue!
I'm also contemplating getting a new Mac all together.
Please advise, I've read many threads with this issue and they all seem to point to the same deal: replace the card. I can't afford to keep replacing graphics cards.
    Saki

The 2600XT required 10.5.2+ and while it may 'look' like a G5 the Mac Pro is not. G5 refers to IBM PowerPC based, not Intel Xeon EFI based.
You're running 10.6.3, might want to update your profile itself.

  • Video display issues with Mac Pro and GeForce 7300?

I'm just wondering whether anyone else has experienced any video strangeness with their Mac Pros with GeForce 7300 cards? Basically, twice now I've had the mouse cursor stop responding and the entire screen turn black, then a second later everything's back to normal (with the cursor moving and the display back). I seem to recall a similar issue on my Windows PC with a Quadro FX 1100 card, so I'm hoping it's just a video driver issue.
    Bryan

I am not sure if its the monitor, the MP, or the video card, but, I have had my computer completely replaced after reporting to my local Apple Store about my G5 fans over heating and my monitor either not being able to wake or refusing to sleep. I called AppleCare and did all the normal trouble shooting but they said take it in to store. But now that I have a brand new MP 3.0 I am getting the same issue but no fan noise. I have a 23Cinima HD (the strore said it was fine when they had both my computer and monitor in) but last night after hours of inactivity the monitor had the screen saver on but didn't got to sleep. I then put in to sleep but when I got up this morning I couldn't wake it up. When I got my new computer (3 days ago) I didn't migraite any of my old stuff. I have been slowly reinstalling all my software and updated anything before I install anything else as an added attempt to not have any bad files. I have 2 gig of ram and 500 hd with the 7300 card. I am at a lost I checked and rechecked all my setting. The only other thing I have connected is my airport extreme base.
    Any idea's anyone?
Ops one last issue, I have blown my apartment circut breaker three time while attempting to start the new PM and once it did it when I was trying to wake it just by tapping the space bar. Is it the computer being more power hunger?

  • Text display issue in SAP script

    Hi All,
I have developed a sap script (Invoice) which is having a Footer window.
The footer window should display page number and some text (address of company). The address data is stored in an internal table and the same will be made to display in sap script.
Now my problem is the address data is displaying correctly in the second page. But no data is getting displayed in the first page. If the Invoice is of single page, the address data in Footer window is getting printed properly.
The problem occurs only, when the invoice is of multiple pages....
What might be the problem in this regard...??????
Please help me, as this bug need to be fixed as early as possible....
    Regards
    Pavan

The size of MAIN and FOOTER window are not getting truncated. Both window have designed properly.
In the first page, the footer window will display Page No data and the address data will be invisible. In debig mode, i can see the value of address will be passed to text symbols of sap script.
There are no conditions set in the sap script for Footer window.
one more observation is that after execution (at print preview screen), if i go back and again click for print preview, the address data is getting printed in the first page...!!!

  • Serious display issues with Mac Pro

    Hello
I have a 5 or 6 years old Mac Pro G5 with a ATI Radeon 9600 XT video card. I have a lot of problem properly connecting a display to that computer. Here is a small list of all the irregularities I witnessed :
    - When I connect an Apple Studio Display, the computer detect two displays (when looking at the display preference, one is labeled "VGA Display" and another labeled "Color LCD"), both at the same resolution and working as a two screens setup (as seen with Space) when not mirrored
    - I can't have the computer working with an Apple Cinema Display. The computer will not boot with that screen plugged in. The normal loading screen appeared, then just before the login screen, it goes black and eventually the computer stop.
    - The screen stay black when I connected it while the computer is running.
    - I have a couple of those G5, so I tried switching the video card with a working one (same model), and it didn't change anything to the screen problem.
I guess it sums up all the symptoms I can see. If anyone as a suggestion on what might be the problem, it will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

You really should post this in the PowerMac forum, since it's a G5 and not a Mac Pro. All the Mac Pros are intel based.

  • IChat Text Display Issue

Users who have specific colors on iChat are having their text reformatted to random colors on my ichat.  How do I correct this?

    Hi,
I got  a Lion computer this weekend just gone.
In  a Bonjour chat between two of my computers the IM stayed the colour I had set on the second computer  (Font is Black).
However when I use an AIM name to send an IM between the two I experience the same as you.
My default colour is a sort of mid Green with Arial Black as the Font and the colour of the text as Black.
The IM comes to iChat 6 as a light purple IM.
The same happens if I use the same two AIM Names in iChat 6.
In fact it gets slightly weird in that iChat 5 shows the "Right Colour"  (as sent from iChat 6)
iChat 5 to iChat 6 shows as this Purple, but the same account on the iChat 6 computers shows the replies as Blue IMs - whilst in turn sending from there still shows as purple in iChat 6 but the regular colour I use in iChat 5
I wondered if it was anything to do with the colours being the same so I changed the outgoing one on the ichat 6 computer with no change in the behaviour.
As you say the Reformatting setting makes no difference.
I can see that if like me you test between two computers that have the same iChat accounts on them that you might have some benefit from the colour being different.
I will try and test with a Buddy to see if a Different Account/Screen Name makes a difference.
However, from what you first reported about a Buddy's Colour it would seem it is new behaviour to iChat

  • Dual Display issues with Mac Pro 1,1

I am running two 19 inch displays, the main display works fine but the second display comes up black. The computer recognizes both displays and I can change the settings but no image will appear on the second monitor. Now, It seems to always think there are two diplays connected even after I disconnect the second monitor. I have a MacPro 1,1 2.66GHz with the Nvidia 7300 Gt Video Card.

Why not send the 7300GT to the shelf and give it a rest, time for ATI 5770 after all this time, which can be found on Apple Store $249.
Might want to inspect the 7300 for damage, dust, (whole case) and of course temps.

  • Can anyone help me solve the problem of text displaying very rough on my new ASUS PA279Q display monitor running off my MacBook Pro?

This is regarding a brand new ASUS PA 279Q, 2560 x 1440 IPS monitor. I'm connected via mini display port (into thunderbolt port on MacBook Pro) to display port on ASUS monitor; using cable ASUS included with the monitor. Mid 2012 MacBook Pro…full specs at bottom of this post.
I have resolution set at 2560 x 1440 which is the native resolution according to the ASUS spec. I tried the other resolutions available in my System Preferences and text displayed rough with those settings too. I've tried adjusting contrast, brightness and sharpness via the ASUS control panel and didn't solve the problem. Also tried calibrating via Mac's system preferences/display and that did not improve text display either. All the text on this monitor (no matter what software I launch, Finder, InDesign, Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, VMWare Windows XP, Windows versions of Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc, all are consistently rendering text the same way ---  ROUGH and with "HALOS" around each letter.
All point sizes of text and at various scales, display very rough on the screen. (My comparison is the retina display of my MBP and a Thunderbolt…so those two displays are my expectations.) I'm using the same MBP for both a Thunderbolt display (at work) and this ASUS at my home office.
On the ASUS it's not as noticeable when the text is on white backgrounds, but I'm a graphic designer and compose images with text all day everyday. Not to mention the specs on this ASUS PA279Q indicate it's built for the professional so I would expect better text rendering. I haven't even addressed color calibration and balance yet, because that won't matter to me if the text won't display any better than it is now.
I was so hopeful after researching all the specs on this monitor it would be a viable alternative to the glossy display of the Thunderbolt display. (Which, I do love the Thunderbolt display for it's clarity and how it displays crisp, clean text at all sizes. (This ASUS actually displays text decently if I increase the text so each letter is about 4" high. Which is pointless for practical purposes -- that'd be like doing page layout through a microscope!)
I kept holding off on getting a monitor for the home office thinking the Thunderbolt would be updated soon. I'd be sick if I dropped a grand on piece of 2011 technology only to learn a few days later an updated Thunderbolt display hit the market! Not to mention, I'm praying Apple comes out with a less reflective Thunderbolt display. The glare and reflection is the main reason I looked elsewhere for a large monitor; hence my asking for help. Hoping the ASUS text display issue can be worked out. My expectation is for it to display like the MBP retina and Thunderbolt display text. That possible?
Alternatively, I guess I could do the Apple Refurb Thunderbolt at $799. And see if there's a decent aftermarket anti-glare I could stick on it?
Thanks for reading my post. Hope someone can help; offer any suggestions? Words or wisdom?
Has anyone else had similar issues and figured out a resolution? Help!

    8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    OS X 10.8.5
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    ASUS PA279Q

I uninstalled those two items. It still runs slow on start-up and when opening safari, firefox, iphoto, itunes, etc. It's not snappy like it used to be. Any other ideas? Thanks.

  • Text displaying selectively, and programs not letting you input text

I posted here once before under a different name when my internet wasn't working and got a prompt, exceedingly detailed and very useful response. Hopefully another brilliant Mac user can help me this time!
As you can see I have an intel-core solo Mac mini. I love it very much, but recently text has been display in an unusual way. Sometimes, in some programs, certain letters will not display. http://tinyurl.com/ygmhc4 is a collage thing I just made to show what I mean more clearly. This happens in MSN, in system. . .programs, I guess, in Firefox, in Growl notification, in Google Notifier, all over the place! I haven't noticed it in MS Word yet, though, but I don't use it often. It's really quite annoying. Any thoughts? It tends to be different letters, but for example all lower-case Us will disappear. But next time, it will be all capital Hs and lowercase Fs. And if you close the program and reopen, it sometimes displays correctly! In Firefox, sometimes entire passages of text will not appear, unless I change the text size to very small sizes. How perplexing!
And another issue I have had: Sometimes a program like Firefox will not recognize ANY keyboard input unless I switch to another application, and then back again. It's a minor annoyance, but it happens pretty regularly.
Help with either issue would be GREATLY appreciated as while both are not destroying my machine, they are harming my productivity. Thanks SO MUCH!

Oh and another display issue, although this MAY be a Firefox problem as it only happens in Firefox. Then again, it seems my computer is really having trouble with text.
Here it is: when I am entering text in to a textbox, the text-entry cursor is slower than the text I am entering. For example, see http://tinyurl.com/yakrlp
In that box, I typed "Unfortunately, this is not the end of my crazy text-display issues! I can't see the last couple of letters I've typed until I type severl mare after them causing ridiculous typos like those because It'it's too late! And I dont't know how many backspaces to do because the cursor is in the wrong place. Annoying, huh? Let me tell you it is. Perhaps this is a Firefox issue, but it seems like it isn't."
As you can see, this is causing a lot of problems. It only appears on SOME websites. For example, on this site, entering this text, it's fine. On some forums, like the MozillaZine support forum, and also in Gmail, this problem appears. Please help! Or is this a Firefox issue?
It seems I have a lot of problems!

  • Mac Mini (mid 2011) Display Issues

    Hello.
Recently I started having some issues with the display from my Mac Mini (mid 2011, core i7, 8GB, OS X 10.9). During usage the screen started flickering erratically and then went blank. I turned the Mac off and found that it was very hot so I removed the bottom cover and the RAM chips and gave it a bit of a clean (it was quite dusty) then I allowed it to cool before putting it back together. After putting it back together it worked for about a day until it had the same problem.
Now on startup the following occurs:
    1. On the start-up screen (where the Apple logo is displayed) the screen is overwhelmingly pink (display RGB settings are fine), except for the left half of the Apple logo which remains grey.
    2. After progressing through the start-up screen the display goes white and nothing further happens.
I have checked the display and it works fine. The HDMI cable is not the issue either.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this and a possible fix?
If it is of any help the monitor is an ASUS MT276H.
    Thanks.

So I have tried a SMC reset and all that has changed is the front indicator light is off and the fan has kicked it up to 11. Please find a picture of the display I described earlier at the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wirrc01xut3p8tx/Photo%201-12-2013%2010%2054%2004%20pm. jpg (sorry it was taken with an iPhone 4).
I have never performed an SMC reset before but it seems like it is taking a long time and/or not working. I'm at a loss to what this might be.

    Hi, try this first...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

  • Mac Pro + Airport Extreme = Mouse Cursor Chaos Display Issues When Dragging

Graphic display issues (mouse lag and latency displayed on the screen when dragging an object (photo, window, application, document, etc.) from the top 50% of the screen to the bottom 50% of the screen. Mouse cursor starts to display serious lag and latency and loses ability to stay on the object being dragged anywhere below the 50% horizon line of any display.
Mac Pro (any model 2007 to current 2009 production) with Airport Extreme installed.
    Symptoms:
On any object the mouse cursor selects and then drags from anywhere in the upper portion (50%) of the screen display (no matter the display being used) to the bottom portion (50%) of the screen display, shows great lagging and latency as if the cursor is "hanging on for dear life" or as if the processor were running several intense applications and cursor was not responding.
The mouse cursor fails to stay in concert with the object being dragged anywhere in the lower portion of the screen although is fine in the upper portion of the screen.
Issue only presents itself when selecting and dragging an object from bottom to top or top to bottom of the display.
I have deduced that the issue with this "polarity" (i.e. the 50% horizon level of the screen north and south) is due to some magnetic or waveform interference from the Airport Extreme card and most likely due to its position on the motherboard and/or next the the Intel processor. Also could be enhanced by the Bluetooth card which is also located next to this card.
After checking various Mac Pros (at Apple stores, friends and received via Apple Online store) the common denominator is the Airport Extreme Card. When it is NOT present, no issues are present with display cursor lag; when it IS present, all the above apply.
No one at Apple seems to realize this issue or cares about it. Ditto for Genius Bar Apple Employees; seems to be a mystery on par with the Bermuda Triangle (which ironically is also magnetically-polarity related.)
Still waiting for a Apple Product Engineer to contact me and have 3 tickets open with Apple from 3 different Mac Pros on this. Problem first noticed May 2009 although first generation Mac Pro from 2007 also suffered same issues and just now putting the puzzle together on this relationship.
Any others out there notice this as well? Check it out if you have a Mac Pro and Airport Extreme Card installed inside of it.

I also have the same exact problem. I have a i5 iMac Mid 2011 with an upgrade to 10.10 Yosemite connected to an external display. I like you never had this issue with Mavericks. Zoom is so painfully slow now that I had to disable it. My iMac has 12 GB of RAM and even with no apps opened, zoom is killer slow.. makes me want to punch a wall-kinda slow.
I think it's clear to say that something is up with 10.10.. some bug.
    Apple please fix us zoomers
