Text display problem in review widgets?

I've had a problem related to review widget in IBA. A part of the text disappears when exporting the book in .ibooks format. In some cases, only a part of the text is missing, sometimes the entire question or option. However, the text is displayed correctly in IBA.
I'm using IBA 2.1.1 on OS X 10.9. There are problems in both iBooks for Mac and iPad. IBA and books are in Finnish.

Are there any ways to prevent text from disappearing? This issue seems to be related to IBA version 2.1.x.

However, text is missing if the same books are exported using IBA 2.1.x
Anyone with a similar issue in this example may want to contact Apple Support to see if it is something on their end or to be laid at the feet of the latest version, I think.

Japanese text display problems in applet using plugin

Hi,
We've been beating our heads against the wall on this one for quite some time, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Our product uses a third party applet (Kavachart from Visual Engineering) to display graphical statistics from our database. We are currently localizing our product to support english and japanese. With Japanese enabled, all pages use euc-jp encoding. The problem we are running into is in the display of japanese text inside this applet in IE 5 and NS 4.7x when using the java plugin (1.3 or 1.4). If the default jre of the browsers are used, the text in the applet renders fine.
On a suggestion from the supprot folks at Visual Engineering, I modified our code to set the defaultFont parameter on the applet to "serif, 14, 1". With this set, the text in the applet renders ok in IE, but NS on windows and unix is still broken. Given that we are doing all these tests on machines running a native japanese OS, it's not even clear to me why setting the defaultFont should even be required, but at this point, I'll take anything :-)
Has anyone else run into this and either solved it or proven that a solution is not feasible? I'm at my wits end here....

If you are using different java plugin, you need to install the international version of the JRE; otherwise, some characters may not be able to display correctly since some of the properties files are missing.
As for Visual Engineering's suggestion. I don't know why they tell you to set the default font on the applet because it may cause the browser to use the font specified. Your applet works on IE because it will try to use the best font to match the web page's content. For NS anything less then 6.0 (technology based on Mozilla), they never display web page correctly especially if you did what VE suggest.
If you are running the applet on the native langauge OS with the international version of the JRE installed, the applet should display correctly without setting the default font. If it is not the native langauge OS, first you need to install the international version of the JRE and have the fonts that are able to display the language the applet use.

Full Text display problem in MySQL Text column

I'm having problems with CF MX 6.1 displaying any output from
a database when I exceed about 4,500 characters in a MySQL database
column.
I'm not doing any funky joins, just a URL variable to select
the row. I have a "bio" field and when that field exceeds more than
4500 characters, CF returns nothing from that row at all.
(including other columns).
The version of MySQL is 4.0.17, CF is MX 6.1. The same error
occures in both the CMS I built using InterAKT's DW extensions
(Nextensio and KTML) and in my basic detail page.
Any idea's why this is happening? Thanks for the help.
btw, the site is www.goodstuffpr.com - the client's pages are
the main culprit, although I've been able to duplicate the problem
in the news section and press releases as well.

ITunes 8 - Windows Vista - Text Display Problem

Whenever iTunes is running unfocused (i.e., in the background, e.g., behind Mozilla Firefox) and the track changes, the text from the previous song remains there, and the library moves so that the new playing track's text is now over the top of the previous track's text. If left for several tracks it looks a real mess when I go back into iTunes (refocus it), however it only lasts for about 1/2 a second, then the text from the old track's disappears and it goes back to correct view.
Why is this happening? If iTunes is being used focused, the text doesn't overlap, but even if I'm running a program that doesn't cover the whole screen, e.g., a small readme file, in the background I can see the (unfocused) iTunes window overlapping all of it's text.

Bugs iBooks Author review widgets and text sections

This week since updating software iTunes and on iPad 3 using Mac bookpro with Mac OS 10.7.5 the review widgets in iBook Author has a bug, which removes part of the questions and part of the answers. I am using the most recent version of iBooks Author.Any suggestions or advice? Also, another bug is that text sections have been affected to some degree with sections of sentences removed.All other wigets are running normal.

I also had this issue, particularly in the Review and Pop-Over widgets. Sections of text were absent only when I previewed on iPad or Mac. This occured on OS X v10.9 Mavericks for me, so it does not seem to be isolated to one operating system. I was also running the latest version of iBooks Author.
I was able to resolve this issue by rewriting the text in slightly different wording. Simply deleting the text and replacing it with the same text did not help. I had to actually rewrite different text that basically meant the same thing. I was not able to figure out what about the origional text was causing the problem. Try typing a variety of different sentences. Chances are, some will cause the error and some won't.

Can anyone help me solve the problem of text displaying very rough on my new ASUS PA279Q display monitor running off my MacBook Pro?

This is regarding a brand new ASUS PA 279Q, 2560 x 1440 IPS monitor. I'm connected via mini display port (into thunderbolt port on MacBook Pro) to display port on ASUS monitor; using cable ASUS included with the monitor. Mid 2012 MacBook Pro…full specs at bottom of this post.
I have resolution set at 2560 x 1440 which is the native resolution according to the ASUS spec. I tried the other resolutions available in my System Preferences and text displayed rough with those settings too. I've tried adjusting contrast, brightness and sharpness via the ASUS control panel and didn't solve the problem. Also tried calibrating via Mac's system preferences/display and that did not improve text display either. All the text on this monitor (no matter what software I launch, Finder, InDesign, Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, VMWare Windows XP, Windows versions of Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc, all are consistently rendering text the same way --- ROUGH and with "HALOS" around each letter.
All point sizes of text and at various scales, display very rough on the screen. (My comparison is the retina display of my MBP and a Thunderbolt…so those two displays are my expectations.) I'm using the same MBP for both a Thunderbolt display (at work) and this ASUS at my home office.
On the ASUS it's not as noticeable when the text is on white backgrounds, but I'm a graphic designer and compose images with text all day everyday. Not to mention the specs on this ASUS PA279Q indicate it's built for the professional so I would expect better text rendering. I haven't even addressed color calibration and balance yet, because that won't matter to me if the text won't display any better than it is now.
I was so hopeful after researching all the specs on this monitor it would be a viable alternative to the glossy display of the Thunderbolt display. (Which, I do love the Thunderbolt display for it's clarity and how it displays crisp, clean text at all sizes. (This ASUS actually displays text decently if I increase the text so each letter is about 4" high. Which is pointless for practical purposes -- that'd be like doing page layout through a microscope!)
I kept holding off on getting a monitor for the home office thinking the Thunderbolt would be updated soon. I'd be sick if I dropped a grand on piece of 2011 technology only to learn a few days later an updated Thunderbolt display hit the market! Not to mention, I'm praying Apple comes out with a less reflective Thunderbolt display. The glare and reflection is the main reason I looked elsewhere for a large monitor; hence my asking for help. Hoping the ASUS text display issue can be worked out. My expectation is for it to display like the MBP retina and Thunderbolt display text. That possible?
Alternatively, I guess I could do the Apple Refurb Thunderbolt at $799. And see if there's a decent aftermarket anti-glare I could stick on it?

I uninstalled those two items. It still runs slow on start-up and when opening safari, firefox, iphoto, itunes, etc. It's not snappy like it used to be. Any other ideas? Thanks.

How to change the answer text within the review widget of iBooks Author?

I want to change the answer text which appears after one has finished a test within the review widget of iBooks Author, but I can't figuere out how to do that.
I also want to sum up the result of a couple of questions as a percentage. How does that work?

Notice the answers inside the widget, each with a circle to the left - tap on one of those, which will then appear green with a checkmark in the center to indicate the correct choice.

Problems with the Widget "Text Ticker"

Hello, I have a problem with the widget "Text ticker". I tried to put more then one text ticker on my site, but it doesn't work, when I look in Muse it looks like this:
and when I look in the preview only the first text ticker works...maybe it is not possible to have more then one text ticker on one site?

It seems you are using the same name for all the ticker instances on page.
You need to have unique names for each of the ticker you want on a single page. Tickers with duplicate names will not work.

Interactive image & review widget issue-

Hi,
When I publish the preview on my iPad, texts, illustrations and videos are fines except 2 widgets :
Interactive image and reviews are going wrong, the area is a little bit blured and not interactive at all ! I' tried with and without pictures. I've try with new templates but nothing… allways same problem
I've recently download a ibook on the iBookStore using Review widget and I've got the same problem, it means to me that the problem is from my iPad side does someone has any idea ?

I own a Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1 ever since November 2014, and have had display problems ever since the first day, be it while using internet (Firefox or Explorer) or various software (Text editors, etc.). Many dialog boxes, including colour settings and controls (open, close etc.) either have an inappropriate appearance or even do not appear at all! I manage to "click" on the right places using memory: most areas are INVISIBLE! Another example would be that I do not see any backround colour or image on most webpages such as this one).  Some suggestions included checking for graphics updates (but the drivers used were already up-to-date).  I 'd be most obliged for any new suggestions. Thank you very much. George

This has occured AVER SINCE DAY ONE! Finally, a new bug has appeared: Windows 8.1 keeps popping up some email program to which I am invited to register - I never created a Windows email account, and certainly don't intend to do so.NOR shall I accept some "Lenovo Service Bridge", however "discreet and inoffensive" it might be. I don't know if there are any legal grounds for customers to complain for all these problems. I DO know, however, that I shall NEVER buy a LENOVO device ever again. Question on the known solution to the "Three pixel text jog" problem

Hello,
I'm "browser-checking" my website using Dreamweaver CS4 tool for that. I've got in various places the "three pixel text jog" IE problem. I followed the link to solution proposed by DW. It says I should add an IE conditional statement in the <head> part, so that I can define the CSS zoom property for that particular element. Hence, something like that:

(assuming the problem occurs for a <p> inside my #Content div.)
My question is: can I replace this by

For another browser problem (prevent the browsers from using some of their own default settings), it was advised to reset the margin, padding and border properties using:
   border: 0;
   margin: 0;
   padding: 0;
(although in my case I had to later remove border: 0; because it would prevent default buttons of forms to be displayed as buttons.)
Does this * really mean "anything"? Is it valid as used above for fixing the three pixel text jog problem? If not, do I really have to define this zoom property for any single HTML element for which it occurs? (It currently occurs for some headers, <div>, "<div> <div>" sequence, some <p>.)
Any comment welcome...

Posting Period text display

Hi Gurus,
I have a report where i have my GL account hierarchy on my rows and my key figure in column. i have posting period on top of my key figure and my client wants to display the report as
jan, feb, mar etc till dec. the problem is when i run it through posting period it shows me 1, 2, 3 ...12 instead of text.
my key figure is populating value based on user exit and i cannot use other time fields like fiscal year/period. i cannot create 12 restricted key figures as my key figure is getting value from exit variable.
how do i change the text display for 1,2,3 .....12 to jan, feb, mar....dec. is there any sap exit text variable?

edit it
go to business explorer tab
over there display as text only and not key
this way it iwll display just text

u have refer above solutions as mentioned by xperts so that u can load texts for 0FISCPER3
then follow the busines explorer tab changes i suggested...
if u can create restricted key figure ur problem will solve easily..

Ipod car audio text display

With hope someone has an answer! I have just brought a new car Mazda 6 along with updating my ipod to the 80gb model. My wish was to take my entire cd collection (quite extensive) to my car and never to use CD's or the delemma of which cd to take. Mazda offered as an accessory an ipod connector. The price tag was considerable however more than worth it in my mind. But how disappointing. I have no text display either on my ipod nor the cars sound system (Bose premimum). This would all be fine if I had stuck to my nano as it's limit of 1000 songs I had to make a decision on. With the 80gb and my entire collection impossible - no idea of the song title, artist etc and no way of chosing what I wish to hear. Not really interested in making playlists as there goes the element of suprise, back to limiting my selection and what the heck I could just as easy (if not more) grab some cds and take to the car. Surely there is a solution to the problem. I presume the reason why I don't get a display on my ipod (other than the Mazda logo) when I connect it is for driving safety reasons but still with hope someone out there can provide me with a solution.

No. There is still a slight battery usage when plugged in.
Do you think it will affect the charging cycle or even the battery life of the ipod by keeping it plugged into the car audio unit using the cd ib-100?
Yes, but probably not drastically.
You should drain & charge the iPod fully once a month.

Display problem in JRE1.5 same works with 1.4.2

I have a complex swing GUI code with JTree that has display problem. The code works well with JRE1.4.2. When opened with JRE1.5_<> the display is not working. Resizing with a mouse displays though. Programmatic resize doesn't work.

I suggest you compile with 1.5 using the appropriate values of the -source and -target options to the javac command that cause it to emit 1.4 code - and see what happens.
And also review the changes and bug fixes made between the two Java versions that you're comparing, looking for changes that account for the difference you're seeing.

How to solve the flash Builder 4.6 scroll view and textinput display problem?

I have a dynamic form application which worked well on flash builder 4.5, having display problems in flash builder 4.6 now. What I did is adding
TextInput objects to a scroll view and set the texts for them dynamically. Everything is fine after the screen loaded. But if I scroll down, sometimes the texts will be placed in wrong positions. I attached the screen copy of the wrong display. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? Thanks.

Check out the two threads below (if you have not already). I have not tried it but aeonus describes an approach that made me think of something that might work ... It is a workaround but, what if you have a text field (txtA) with the skin that does not allow soft keyboard selection, but does scroll correctly, and on the onClick event of that text field, you dynamically cover it with another text field (txtB) that does allow soft keyboard selection, (but does not scroll properly) and trigger the keyboard. After you get the entry from the user, set the value of txtA and destroy txtB ... leaving you (theoretically) with properly scrolling text fields. If you have a lot of those in your app, you might want to write a component that implements that behavior.
