Text document for After Effect Cs4

I never open the After Effects CS4 but it is amazing....
For the beginning, want to try  Animatin Text but couldn't created the Text document.
when  i created the Text from Photoshop and import to After Effects then it will show " transform" not " Text".
How can i create the Text document for After Effects....????
thanks for reading and little help Please

I do quite a bit of Text Animation in both AE and Premiere Pro, and just create my images in PS. In my case, I am working with SD (Standard Def) DVD Projects in NTSC-land, so I will use the New Image, and then choose the NTSC 720 x 480 Preset, choosing either the Standard 4:3, or Widescreen 16:9 w/ Guides, and then add my various Text Layers, per normal. The layout of my Text Layers will depend on what and how I want to animate my image. Then, I do a Save_As PSD, to be Imported into AE or PrPro. For animations I want the Layers, so I will choose Import_as_a_Sequence in PrPro, so that each Layer is a separate Clip.
In your case, the New Image Preset might differ, depending on exactly what your Frame Size is, in AE. Plan that out first, so that you match the AE Comp's specs. with your new Image.
If you are gong to TV, you might want to use the Title Safe and Action Safe Guides in that New Image, as they will help keep your Text within any overscan area for CRT TV's (and still some HD TV's).
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Any suggestion about what would be the best GPU (non quadro) for After Effects CS4

    I going to build a pc and need advice on what graphic card to use with after effects cs 4.
    I have experiece with opengl problems due to graphic card no perfecly compatible with adobe applications and
    I would really like to have som ideas on what card to buy.. I dont want to spend money for the high priced quadro cards...
    Ive just read the thread of somebody in another forum who stated that the Nvidia GeForce GTX260 has been certified by Adobe to be fully compatible with CS4 ? Right now I own Geforce GTX275 and that card have many minor opengl issues.
    Thank you.

    Hi again , and as always , thank you for your fast responses.
    You wrote something about changing the pci bus timing, I am not sure how to do that, what I know is that my card is set to 16X.
    I never changed anyting when I installed the card.
    Maybe It could be a os issue... have you tested your card in windows 7 or windows xp. It may be stupid running a new os as windows 7.

  • Sublime Text Build for After Effects

    Any Sublime text experts out there... ? Made a build system to send current file to be executed in AFX...
    I did try it with the -s and feeding a  line of code and it works. So when I switch to sending the current file....
    It switches over to AFX but does nothing... can't figure it out. I am aware of the build system from AEtuts but I
    am trying to figure stuff out and learn as I go along.... (Not an expert in Sublime/Python/cmd line)
    //Contents of my build file...
        "cmd": ["afterfx", "-r", "\"$file\""]
    //Which sends (I think) to the command line.
    Running afterfx -r "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5.5\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels\AED_CornerCutters\AED_AdjustmentLayer.jsx"
    After Effects is called but doesn't read the jsx....
    Any ideas?

    Hi Sebastian -
    I am not using a .bat file or anything  - just sending the script from Sublime to Afx via cmd.exe.
    So it's just the bare build file... to run the script in AFX
    Running afterfx -r C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5.5\Support Files\Scripts\tester.jsx
    All I need.
    Sometimes I use utility functions to switch between ESTK stuff and AFX - the snippet below switches between alert type boxes
    in AFX or silent ESTK logging depending on a estkLogging variable.
    function logger(str,des){
                                                      //logs to an alertbox or does a writeln in the ESTK
                                                      des = des||""; //optional 2 parameters or one.
                                                      if (logging==true){//enable logging.
                                                                          if(estkLogging==true){          $.writeln(str + "   :   "+des);          $.writeln("-------------------------------");}
                                                                          else{feedback(str + "   :   "+des) ;}
                                                      }  //if
                                            }//close logger funct.
    Also - native AFX feedback in the info panel...
    write("This text appears in Info panel ");
    writeln("This text appears on f irst line");
    writeln("This text appears on second line");

  • After Effects CS4 reinstallation failure

    I uninstalled Adobe After Effects CS4 from a Mac OS X 10.5 due to the program's continuous crashing. When reinstalling it, the following notice appeared after inserting all 4 discs:
    "Installation of the following components has failed: Adobe After Effects CS4"
    Can anyone help me please?

    Hi EmilyAnn29,
    Please follow the mentioned steps:
    1. Go to Application/Utilities/Adobe Installers and look for After Effects CS4 uninstaller. If present run the uninstaller and try to installing again.
    2. Copy the content of the DVD to your desktop and try to install.
    3. Run the Cleaner tool and look for After Effect in the apps list. If present proceed with uninstallation: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    4. Download the CS4 software from the direct link: http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html and try installing again.
    Please let us know whether it worked.

  • How to fix rough edges text in After Effects cs4? Please help.

    How to fix this? rough edges in text.
    in the first, it's not like this but the next i open after effects cs4, it goes like that.

    Hi there mato31,
    Hopefully this will help — if that screenshot is your comp window at 50%, then I would hazard a guess that the resolution quality of your comp window was set down to half or quarter quality (this would be my first guess in this instance, worth a try?). If you look across the bottom of the comp window next to the RGB channels icon, the drop-down menu for the comp window resolution is there. Does yours say perhaps Quarter or Third? Just a guess... Usually one would work at Full, but I usually leave it set to Auto so when a comp is viewed at 50%, it automatically changes the quality to 50% which leaves smooth edges (a comp viewed at 50% zoom factor, with full resolution, looks jagged also).
    Anyway, just a first thought. Let me know if that helps at all?

  • Dynamic Link for Premiere and After Effects CS4 with Titles

    I've created a Rolling Title in Premiere Pro CS4.  I'd like to create a Dynamic Link to bring the title into After Effects CS4 to add effects that will show up in Premiere.  I've watched a few video tutorials on Dynamic Link and read the documentation and tried a variety of permutations but can't seem to get this done.
    Also saw something in these forums about problems using Dynamic Link with Titles (as opposed to regular clip??)
    And something about Premiere and After Effects projects being saved together ??in same folder - is that correct?
    So, could someone explain if this can be done and the right way to do it?
    Thanks

    Thanks Mylenium - appreciate the quick and focused reply.
    I would like to keep the benefits of the Premiere Pro Titler (to play with the length of time by stretching or squashing the Title block on the timeline; to type in time to stay on screen at end; ease in and out etc . . .).  If I do render out a png / tiff / or psd sequence with alpha, and bring that into AFX to play with.  Will I still retain the ability to use the Titler features in Premire Pro, or do I essentially have to convert it to 'regular footage' on reimport as opposed to a 'Title?"
    Thanks

  • After Effects CS4 tips

    People have asked for a document that includes all of the After Effects CS4 tips of the day. OK. Here it is.

    Bob,
    Please ask this question on the main After Effects forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/aftereffects_general_discussion
    Hijacking a thread is confusing for other users, and it keeps you from getting an answer, because it means that almost no one will see your question.
    If you start a thread in the main forum with your question as the subject line, people will actually see it.

    There's a list of the big new features in the
    "New features in After Effects CS4" section of After Effects CS4 Help on the Web, and you can read about every little change to the UI in the
    "User interface changes from After Effects CS3 to After Effects CS4" section.
    But I thought that all of you who have posted requests to this wishlist might like to get specific responses to some of the items on this list.
    First of all, though, I'd like to point out an innovative set of features that I think addresses a request that many of you have made... just not exactly as you asked for it. All of us have wanted a better way to see into and navigate among nested compositions (precompositions). The Composition Mini-Flowchart and Composition Navigator make moving around in a complex project much, much faster and easier. Telling you to see the
    "Opening and navigating nested compositions" section isn't going to do this feature set justice. You'll only appreciate how slick this is when you get your hands on it.
    Oh, and we reversed the behavior of double-clicking versus Option-double-clicking a precomposition layer: Now double-clicking opens the source composition in the Composition panel, not the precomposition layer in the Layer panel.
    Now, on to the specific responses...
    David Wigforss:
    > I completely agree that the graph editor needs work....
    > Position values need to be seperated into 3 distinct values that can

    Mark Weiss:

    Done.
    See
    "Supported import formats".
    AndyClarke:
    > all effects in 32 bit or float
    Not quite all. But more are, including all of the 3D Channel effects, which is a category that really needed the upgrade.
    See
    "Effects and animation presets".
    AndyClarke
    > prob a really simple little thing but a 'centre anchor point' button could be handy?
    Move layers so that their anchor points are in the center of the composition or view?
    If so, then done. See the first tip on the
    "Move layers in space" page.

    > I'd like to see some features I can use with my tablet (I got it for photoshop, though

    We've had features for using the pen dynamics with the paint tools for a while. See
    "Brushes and the Brushes panel".
    That said, we've made some improvements under the hood that should make using a pen better (e.g., modifying the sensitivity during certain click and drag operations).
    Darren McNeill:
    > Simple, I would like After Effects to have the ability to extrude Text in 3d space.
    > Nothing complicated, just be able to create 3d Text.

    "XMP metadata in After Effects".
    Navarro Parker:
    > I'd love AE projects to be searchable. Having the ability to search for comp names or source footage
    > names within projects from the Finder would be fantastic.
    Done, as long as you have the means to search within XML files. The new XML project file format opens up a lot of scripting possibilities, too.
    See
    "About projects".

    Though we did add "more stuff", we also spent a lot of time polishing the application this time. The number of small tweaks to address pain points was very large.
    AndyClarke:
    > I just don't like the help browser.
    Better?
    After Effects CS4 Help on the Web
    Laurie Hogan:
    > I got a simple one. Can AE have Spell Check.
    AE Enhancers provides
    a spelling checker script.
    Laurie Hogan:
    > Also Can there be more integration between AE and Apple FCP.
    I give a link to a script from Dale Bradshaw on the
    "Supported import formats" page (at the bottom of the page).

  • After Effects CS4 Performance (BRUTAL)

    Despite the comments on this board (from Adobe themselves) claiming improved After Effects CS4 performance over its predecessor, my experience is the exact opposite. This version seems half baked to me.
    AE CS4 isn't just SLOW, and by slow I really mean dreadfully unusable, It's unstable as well. Even running the same template files that came with CS3 and 4, there's a huge difference in render time, ram previews etc. When you can't even rotate a simple cube without crashing, there's some real problems, and this is just the beginning. The previous version had no show stopping issues, it performed like a trooper. This latest however, I can't see how I could use it day to day for anything..
    There is no other software on this machine other than, CS4, Firefox, and Lightwave 9.5, which by the way, handles textured objects with hundreds of thousands of polys, not 6. I first get an error message that reads as followed;
    After effect error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in "Live Photoshop 3D"
    followed by, After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. See... blah blah blah..
    By the way this occurs with or without OpenGl enabled.
    Systems specs
    8GB Ram
    Q6600
    Hard Drive space 4TB, install drive, 156 GB free
    Vista Business 64
    Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS (driver 178.13)
    This is the same machine that ran CS3 very well, so there shouldn't be anything wrong with this rig..

    Fausto,
    I have no problem importing or animating your PSD - no crashes, at least. The resolution is very high. I got better results by cutting the resolution of your PSD in half, which may or may not be an option for you. I improved responsiveness a little by setting the PS 3D layer to "Use Photoshop Transform" in AE.
    But ultimately, the responsiveness of the 3D layer in AE is impossible to work with, except with Live Update disabled. It seems like a RAM issue to me. What size are the texture layers on each side of the cube? If they're all 3000x2000-ish like your document, and you're working at full res, consider that AE has to hold all six images in RAM, plus manipulate them in 3D.
    My own sense is that the whole 3D layer thing simply isn't ready for that kind of resolution in AE yet. And probably wont be until true 64bit code allows the storage of all those textures in RAM more easily.
    As a side note, don't know if it's my location or your server, but your 74Mb image took me almost 2 hours to download.

  • After effects cs4 don't launch

    Hi everyone,
    I have an issue i've never seen before.
    I launch after effects cs4, i have the loading round near the cursor for 2 seconds, then nothing. No splash screen, not even in the application bar.
    Just in the process tab at 72Mo Ram
    Im running the cs4 32bits on 7 64b
    i have 2 xeons E5-2650 proc and a firePro v7900
    CS6 is working but i want CS4.
    if you have an idea...

    i've said all i have i think, let's do it point per point
    What version of After Effects? Include the minor version number (e.g., After Effects CS5.5 with the 10.5.1 update).
         After effects cs4 32bits
    Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
    Yep
    What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
    windows 7 64bits
    If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
    No error, just not running
    What were you doing when the problem occurred?
    front of it
    Has this ever worked before?
    Nope - new PC
    What other software are you running?
    adobe creative suite. i've installed CS6 after CS4. Same issue
    Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
    Not for now
    Tell us about your computer hardware. Include CPU type and number of processor cores, amount of RAM installed, GPU, number of disk drives, and how any external drives are connected.
    i have 2 xeons E5-2650 proc and a firePro v7900 32Go Ram. 2 hard drives, one external.
    Do you have any third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU)?
    Nope
    What is the exact sequence of steps that you are taking?
    I launch after effects cs4, i have the loading round near the cursor for 2 seconds, then nothing. No splash screen, not even in the application bar.
    Just in the process tab at 72Mo Ram

  • Adobe After Effects CS4 trial installation problem, Please Help!

    Ok, I downloaded the trail version of Adobe After Effects CS4 onto my PC (Windows XP). When I try to run the setup (by double-clicking it), a window pops up saying 'Adobe setup has encountered a problem and needs to close.' Does anyone know why this is, and how I might be able to fix it? I already tried re-downloading it, and I checked the system requirements. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO USE THIS! If it will help here are my PC's specs:
    Operating System - Windows XP with service pack 3
    RAM - 2.0GB
    Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 4830
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Dual 2.2GHz
    Monitor Resolution - 1280x1024
    Thanks

    Verify the following:
    a) you run as administrator
    b) your virus scanner and firewall don't interfere
    c) you have enough temporary disk space
    d) no other tools are interfering
    For b), simply turn those tools off during install. For c), check your user temp directory (C:\Documents and Settings\You\Local Settings\Temp). Clean it out either manually or using tools like CCleaner. Also defragment your drive. For d), you may need to uninstall otehr Adobe software. also monitor your task manager for processes and services that may have a negative impact. A dump of those can easily be generated using HijackThis!, so you can post the list here for verification, if needed. also provide any otehr info that could be important, like e.g. special drivers or user settings.

  • Can you create the Title effect in Daybreakers, adobe after effects cs4,,please take this one as cha

    im currently studying Adobe After Effects CS4, and i found the title of DAYBREAKER(2009)movie a very interesting effect to create, i hope you can give me tutorials on how to do that..please! more power, NOTE: im using adobe after effects cs4

    From what I saw on the trailer for this film the titles are a modified version of George Peolvoy's Flowing Title tutorial posted on Creative Cow about 10 years ago. You'll find the tutorial here.
    The glass effect on the type can be duplicated using layer effects in Photoshop and / or then applying those layer effects to your type layer directly in AE. You'll find a bunch of those tutorials by doing a simple Google search for Glass Text Photoshop.
    There is no one click, one plug-in solution, but if you integrate the layer effects, a displacement map, some compound blur, and a little position keyframing + motion blur you should be able to duplicate the effect exactly. George's tutorial should get you started. If I remember right the project files were for AE 4.1 so they probably won't open in CS4.
    Good luck
