Text editing bug: conflict with Facebook widget

And just when I thought this program couldn't be MORE frustrating. The simplest of text editing features flatly refused to cooperate. Double click, triple click, with the direct selection tool selected. Nope won't select a goddam thing. Turned out to be a conflict with a Facebook widget I had applied on a master page.

Yes I have removed and reinstalled WMP.
I had good results with the PD6 application installed on the default path onto the C: drive with the one exception that if the application was launched by accident and the user data path was not available, the PD6 application would blow away my custom user path registry settings. Now that I know what they are I have made a .reg file to repair my registry to my desired user data paths.
Installing the application on the removable drive appeared to help prevent me from launching the application by accident and overwriting my registry with default user paths.
So which is the less of the two evils?
If the application directory is not available, windows media player still tries to launch the .msi for installing PD6.
If I install the application to the C: drive but the user data to the removable drive, launching the PD6 application without the user data drive will still corrupt my registry settings for a user data path.
Both these issues seem like a logical (if not easy) fix that should be done in the PD6 application and installation package. I mean really, cannot anyone tell me why windows media player is checking the PD6 application directory? Why in PD4 did we have an option control for setting the user data path from the PD4 application? Why is this option not in the PD6 application, just the installer?
I am given a choice during installation to move the user data to another non default location. Why else would this be provided if not to accommodate my kind of request to store the user data into an alternate location other than “My Document”. Certainly Palm is not trying to force the users on how to protect and store their personal data?

Every time I save an RTF file since lion, when I later retrieve a file it's code filled file. Does anyone know what this is and how to prevent it (or tell text edit to retrieve normally)?

I resolved this by using the open... menu and unchecking "Ignore Rich Text Commands"

Choose a picture to share with Facebook widget

It is possible to choose a personal picture to share with Facebook when i use the dedicated widget on my published site ?
I've only 3 or 4 pictures that i can choose and they are wrong... Somebody can help me to find a solution ? Thanks

Facebook has a set of open-graph meta tags that it looks at to decide which image to show.
<meta property="og:image" content="http://ia.media-imdb.com/rock.jpg"/>

and should be present inside the <head></head> tag of your page.
If these tags are missing, it will use their older method of specifying an image: <link rel="image_src" href="/image.jpg"/>. If neither are present, Facebook will look at the content of your page and choose images from your page that meet its share image criteria: Image must be at least 50px by 50px, have a maximum aspect ratio of 3:1, and in PNG, JPEG or GIF format.

Adobe X Pro Text Editing bug

Hi, i have adobe x pro installed on my laptop that use for editing multiple text document. recently i noticed that after deleting text within my pdf document. the text disappear but each time you print the document on a printer. the text reappear. What could be the cause of this problem?

There is also the question of what you mean by editing. Also, when you complete your editing process you should use Save As to save the document and remove the junk that is no longer needed. If you just do a Save, everything stays there.

Editing bugged jsp with sed.

I have a problem with my jsp pages, because after moving them, addresses are not resolved correct anymore. There are lots of tags such as:
<img src"/*"
which need to be rewritten into something like this:
<img src"<html:rewrite page="/*" />"
i tried doing this with sed:
sed -e 's/<[^>]img src="/*"/<img src="<html:rewrite page="&"/>"/g filename
but it doesnt work. It wouldnt even work with tags inserted in tags (in same <img src tags are <% %> tags). Could someone keen on all this line editors and regular expressions help me?

IPhone sync with wifi makes bug conflict with airport

A bug in Fire Fox's update that is conflicting with PLESK site builder

I asked AISO.net support for help because when I opened the PLESK Site-builder to edit my website, all I saw was HTML code instead of the WYSIWYG editor. They replied: Try using Internet Explorer as the site builder is optimized for that browser. It appears there is a bug in Fire Fox's update that is conflicting with the site builder program.
Until fire fox addresses this issue you will need to use another browser.

Bugs iBooks Author review widgets and text sections

This week since updating software iTunes and on iPad 3 using Mac bookpro with Mac OS 10.7.5 the review widgets in iBook Author has a bug, which removes part of the questions and part of the answers. I am using the most recent version of iBooks Author.Any suggestions or advice? Also, another bug is that text sections have been affected to some degree with sections of sentences removed.All other wigets are running normal.

I also had this issue, particularly in the Review and Pop-Over widgets. Sections of text were absent only when I previewed on iPad or Mac. This occured on OS X v10.9 Mavericks for me, so it does not seem to be isolated to one operating system. I was also running the latest version of iBooks Author.
I was able to resolve this issue by rewriting the text in slightly different wording. Simply deleting the text and replacing it with the same text did not help. I had to actually rewrite different text that basically meant the same thing. I was not able to figure out what about the origional text was causing the problem. Try typing a variety of different sentences. Chances are, some will cause the error and some won't.

Network Setting conflict with BC in-browser editing?

I'm developing a site for a client in Adobe Muse which will be hosted on Adobe BC.
At the moment this is a trial site which expires in mid-November 2014.
About a month ago my client was able to log in, using his PC, and make initial text amendments using in-browser editing.
However he tried to make some more amends at the weekend, but now the in-browser editing doesn't seem to work.
To summaries briefly what's happening:
He makes text edits, hits the [Publish] button, but instead of its colour changing from blue to clear - the button remains blue.
Anything he does in BC from that point onwards produces a warning dialog stating there are unsaved changes.
I've accessed the site using a desktop and laptop in my studio and can edit and publish text changes without any problem.
I took my laptop to my client's office yesterday, but encountered the same problem as he did at the weekend.
My initial thinking is that this conflict is perhaps being caused by his network settings or firewall settings.
As this is a huge subject area I wonder if anyone else has encountered a similar situation? If yes, how did you resolve it?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome

For anyone following this thread, I thought you may wish to know the following:
In response to Cristinel's reply to me, I asked my client to see if he could edit his Adobe BC site on a computer that wasn't on his home network.
He could.
So this pointed to his home PC and network being the root-cause of why he wasn't able to use in-browser editing.
I received an email today from my client saying that the PC had acquired a "whole screed of adware" via his children who had been watching TV programmes etc. on the PC.
He's be endeavouring to tidy these up, and states that after running "one particular tidy-up programme" (he didn't say which), he noticed that he was able to use the Adobe BC in-browser editing function again.
So this is certainly something for all of us to keep in mind if a client experiences a similar problem with the Adobe BC in-browser editing facility.

You're confusing two different steps. If you want to write the data to an open textedit window, you build a text string of the integers and then write it out to the window like this:

After that you'll have to save the document. On the other hand, if you want to write directly to the file on disk, don't use a textedit tell block - just write to the file at the script level (i.e. your code looks correct, but shouldn't be in a tell block). then you'll have to convince the open textedit window to refresh (which might be a bit tricky).

Adobe photoshop lightroom 4.pkg trying to open with text edit -- how do i open as application?

downloaded trial for mac, all requirements are met, but cannot get download to open as an application, mac is trying to open with text edit; downloaded several times, every time the disk utility opens

The .dmg was opening with Disk Utility, where it would verify and then mount the "Lightroom 4.0" disc image on my desktop. Clicking on this opened the folder, which contained the .pkg file, but it wouldn't work (opening with TextEditor). I changed the .dmg file to open with DiskImageMounter and thought I would have to manually change the .pkg file as well, but once the .dmg file opened with DiskImageMounter, the Lightroom 4 file opened with it as well and I got the installation screen right away. Installation from that point on went as usual. It was a very frustrating experience, but now I know where to look when a file won't install. But as for your question, they both opened with DiskImageMounter.

That is because you don't have a web server configured and running to serve the html page. In order to see the page in a browser you need to access it using a url similar to http://localhost/~yourUserName if you are serving the page from your user account.
Prior to Mountain Lion you could go into web sharing and turn on the web server. With Mountain Lion there is no option, other than using terminal, to turn on the web server. The web sharing menu item has been removed in Mountain Lion. Apache is still on your computer but it will take a little searching these forums or the Internet to find how to turn it on.
If you want a graphic user interface to turn on/off the Apache server you could download and install a server application like xampp, http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html. I use this and it works well.

Problems with the Widget "Text Ticker"

Hello, I have a problem with the widget "Text ticker". I tried to put more then one text ticker on my site, but it doesn't work, when I look in Muse it looks like this:
and when I look in the preview only the first text ticker works...maybe it is not possible to have more then one text ticker on one site?

It seems you are using the same name for all the ticker instances on page.
You need to have unique names for each of the ticker you want on a single page. Tickers with duplicate names will not work.
