Text Fadein/Fadeou in DW CS3

Hi,
I was watching a DW CS3 video on youtube about the Fade In
and Fade Out behavior. Is that behavior available as a plug-in for
DW8?
My best regards.

All looks OK here Tim. Win 7 IE, FF and Safari.
Perhaps try to use the same metric (pixels rather than points) throughout your CSS. You have a mix of the two. Don't expect much change from that but worth a shot.
Get rid of blue borders around images in links

Add "a img { border:none;}" (without the quotes) once to your stylesheet.

  • Set text of container in DW CS3

I'm building a site using CSS in DW CS3 (bought in May 2006) that has some photo gallery pages where a large image changes per thumbnails to its right that are clicked. The thumbnails are in their divs and the wished-for big image should appear in a larger div to the left. I've read in other postings here that I can use Behaviors panel > Set Text > Set text to container to do this, but this behavior doesn't appear in my Set Text submenu. How do I add this behavior there?
Also, how do I not only create this 'on click' behavior, but have the thumbnail image change to a 'HIT' state like a rollover would?
    Thanks for your help --

Check this location in windows C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\Behaviors\Actions\Set Text
If this Set Text folder is not there it means that the behavior did not get installed. So you might need to reinstall DW CS3.

  • Text effects bridge to AE CS3

HI, I'm using AE CS3 and I've imported some text from photoshop, place it in the timeline, select it, go to Adobe Bridge, select the typewriter fade in effect, double click that and I get:
"can't import file: unsupported filetype or extension"
when I drag and drop it from w/in AE it won't do anything.
    what am I missing?
    thanks

    Update
Ok, Bridge won't work but I can create a new text layer from w/in AE and then drag and drop the typewriter effect directly on the text in the composition window.
not exactly the solution I was looking for....

  • Javascript errors when formating text and images in Contribute CS3

I'm using Contribute CS3 on Vista, I insert an image inside a
paragraph tag with text then align the image
ie the source code looks like this:
    <p><img src="..." alt="" align="left"/>some
    text</p>
I change the text in the paragraph to bold
    Source code example: <p><img src="..." alt=""
    align="left"/><strong>some text</strong></p>
I will get the following error messages:
1 This error appears 2 times:
    "While executing DW_Text_CSS_Style canAcceptCommand in
    ccText_Styles.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
2 This error appears 2 times:
    "While executing DW_Text_Bold canAcceptCommand in
    Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
3 This error appears 3 times:
    "While executing DW_Text_Italic canAcceptCommand in
    Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
4 Next all the styles and formatting options are greyed out
but I can still publish or discard.
To be able to apply the styles and formatting in Contribute
CS3 I now need to close the application and reopen it again and be
careful not to reproduce the error.
I've also tried renaming the Configuration folder under
    c:\Users\myusername\appData\Local\Adobe\Contribute CS3\ but it
    hasn't worked.
We've reproduced this error on 3 similar machines in our
office all running cs3 but the bug doesn't occur when performing
the same steps in Contribute 3 or dreamweaver CS3 which is running
side by side on these machines.

It might be trying to pull the image from a different
location than the image is currently stored in. Try to move the
image file to a different folder and then load.

  • Export/import text with all styles (indesign CS3 (XP SP2))

I'm looking for the best way to export text so authors can edit their text using MS Word, Excel or xml. (they don't want to use Indesign). after they are done editting I want to import the text back into Indesign (with par, char, obj styles).
I know how to import/export to .doc with styles, but this doesn't work for table, object styles, and page breaks.
Xml tags or plugin/software might be a solution.
I've searched the forums, google and read the help file, but still don't know what the best/quickest solution might be. ... ?
    thanks in advance

    1. Those programs don't support every feaature of InDesign, so you are out of luck.
    2. If they don't want to use InDesign, ask them to use InCopy, that is the only one programm which supports the whole InDesgin-functionlity
    3. Page breaks should never be done manually, never in Word, neither with InDesign. They should be created via paragraph styles in both program, but with the import options is a checker to get Word's page breaks.

I am pretty new to Flash and I have spent all day trying to

in Flash but none of them are working for me. I know you save the
content into a movie clip but that's as far as i have gotten. would
anyone be able to walk me through this PLEASE???

You could use a Swing HTMLPANE or draw it all onto a
BufferedImage and display that (code posted under 2D graphics thread).

  • Text Skewing problem in FLASH CS3

I created a button object consisting of text.
I skewed the button 0-degrees horizontal and -25-degrees vertical.  I published the flash file and it looks good.
I changed the skew to -5 degrees horizontal and -21 degrees vertical published it looked good.
I changed the skew back to 0 degrees horizontal and -25 degrees vertical.
However, when I published swf file continues to maintain -5H, -21V in appearance even though the fla file has skew of 0H, -25V.
    Any suggestions?

When that sort of thing happens to me, I usually just throw away that object and start with a new one.

  • How to use Text Layout Framework in Flash CS3?

    Hi,
I perferctly now how to get TLF to work in CS4.
As far as I know, the the base code is in AS3 so I should be able to locate the classes in CS3 and use it in Flash CS3.
I appreciate if there is anyone who can help me with this?

I'm not that knowledgeable about Flash Pro, however, I'd be quite surprised if you could make this work.  CS4 added Flash Player 10 support.  That includes a compiler update for Vector - a new AS3 feature.  Minimally you'll have to get Flash CS3 to generate FP10 level content and compile with the playerglobals.swc from FP10.  If you can get that far than adding textLayout.swc to your project should be straightforward.
Maybe someone else has an idea.
    Hope that helps,
    Richard

  • Text tool in Photoshop CS3 missing default resource files.

when I try to use the text tool in my Photoshop CS3 I always get a message that says that I am missing the default resource files for the tool.  How do I solve this..? And if possible, where can I get said files..?

Can you reinstall the application from your original media?
Keep in mind that if you do so you'll need to apply any updates to the CS3 product from Adobe's site again as well.

  • Problem with CS3 InCopy text files and InDesign CS5

I have a large annual magazine that I am developing. There is one section that doesn't change much from year to year and I was hoping to grandfather in the InCopy text files from last year's edition. I've successfully used this strategy the past few years without issue. However, now when I try to check out those text files from last year, I receive the following message "This story needs to be coverted to "InCopy Document" format in order to edit it."
I am running both InDesign CS5 and InCopy CS5 in SL 10.6.4. The previous year's magazine document was in CS3 InDesign format and the text files were in InCopy CS3. Is there some sort of compatibility issue? Is there a specific method for converting them so I can check them out in InDesign? I haven't attempted to check them out in InCopy CS5 yet but I will try that next. But I really need the ability to check out the content via InDesign too.
    Thanks in advance.
    Robert

AFAIK, you're going to actually need to open the INCX files in InCopy and then resave them as ICML file. You can then relink them all in InDesign.
Other choice is killing the InCopy links and then relinking everything.
Best practice would be to finish any job started in CS3 with CS3 and then move to CS5 with new projects.

  • Inline Text Boxes getting converted to inline tags on text reflow in parent

    Hi,
We extract text from a text box in a Indesign CS3 document. The text box can have inline text boxes. The text of the inline boxes is extracted as well.
The text extracted from all the text frames is processed in an xml and processed. After processing, it is reflown into the boxes.
When we try to import the text in the parent text frame having inline boxes, the inline text boxes are converted to inline tags.
Can we keep the inline text boxes as it is rather than they getting converted to the inline tags.
    Thanks.

    Hello Harbs,
Thanks for the reply. By recreating the boxes, do you mean to say that we draw the boxes again and place them in the main text frame as an inline box.
But the problem again is that if we attach the xml element of the parent element to the text frame, it will flow all the contents including the inline boxes which will be again convert them to inline tags.
Or is it that we flow the parent text and then look for all the inline tags and draw boxes in place of these tags. But the question here is how do we differentiate between an genuine inline tag and the one which is converted from an inline box.
Can you help in describing the solution in your mind.
    Thanks

  • Hyperlinks in tagged text

    Good morning,
I'm building tables of contents programmatically and save them as tagged text for importing into InDesign (CS3) for later export to PDF.
That works fine for bookmarks and hyperlinks to web sites but not for links to other PDF documents. Why?
In fact if you create bookmarks, http://hyperlinks and file://links in InDesign, they work in PDF, but when you export it as tagged text and then re-import that same tagged text again, the first two still work but the file://links are lost. Why?
Another funny point: file://links insist on *.indd targets even though the resulting PDF file will look for *.pdf one. Why?
    Thanks for any enlightenment, Texane02

So it does. It also drops it if you export in GB 18030. I would file a bug report:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Only workaround I can think of would be to enter some other unique character (maybe |?) and find/replace it in ID after bringing in the tagged text.
    Ken
Hold on, I tried exporting tagged text and then bringing it back in. It's not dropping the forced line break. It's exporting it as a single Line Feed (hex 0a). And it interprets that as a forced line break when importing back in. My text editor ignores Line Feeds. I had to look at it in a hex editor to see the 0a.
I don't know if that helps any. However you're producing the tagged text, you would need to be able to make it enter a line feed without the carriage return.

  • Indesign CS3 Data Merge "Merge Records" Command. Help?

I'm looking to automate the merging of a mountain of records. I have 587 tab-delimited text files with 40 records each. I want to process these via Data Merge using a single pre-designed template with built-in placeholders and variable data fields, including a variable barcode graphic. In the end, I want to create 704 multi-page, 6-up per page, indesign files with merged data, and 704 multi-page PDFs.
Here's where I am at. Using a combination of AppleScript, TextWrangler and InDesign CS3, I am able to set up a loop where I can open the single template, save it to a new file with a new name, change its data source to the appropriate text file, and as a test, make a PDF of the template using the correct export preset. What I cannot seem to do is get the template to perform a "Create Merged Document...".
In InDesign CS3's AppleScript dictionary there is a command called "Merge Records" under the Data Merge section. It appears to do exactly what I am after. But when I try to use it (and the good Lord knows I have tried numerous permutations), it only returns errors like "Adobe InDesign CS3 got an error: active document doesn't understand the merge records message."
Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I have set up a separate AppleScript for testing purposes that opens up the template, saves it under a new name, and attempts a "merge records" command. Here it is. Maybe someone smart out there can tell me what I am doing wrong.
set templatePath to "Welch_Jobs:0_JOBS:280019_Churchill:WPC FILES:Workup:280019_6up_master template.indt" as text -- the main template file that will be modified, saved with a new name, then merged with its data to create a new merge file
set newTemppath to "Welch_Jobs:0_JOBS:280019_Churchill:WPC FILES:Workup:goody.indd" as text
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS3"
    open file templatePath
    tell active document
    save to newTemppath
    merge records
    end tell
    end tell
I have this feeling that this is a command that is actually unsupported. Google searches have been fruitless except for one poor soul who can't get it to work either. I have, however, seen that a similar JavaScript command exists called "DataMerge.mergeRecords". If it is impossible to do this via AppleScript, is it possible to make a JavaScript that will do it, and access the JavaScript with a "do script" command in the main AppleScript? If so, how would I accomplish this? What whould the JavaScript look like, and where do i need to put it?
I would greatly appreciate any help you, dear reader, can give me on this.

Well, did you look at the dictionary?:
merge recordsv : Merges records and produces an optional overset report.
      merge records
    data merge
output overset report file alias or
text] : The path to the file in which to store the overset report.
Note also that it's part of the Preferences Suite, not the Datamerge suite. Do you see differently?
Anyhow, you're clearly not calling it with a data merge parameter.
I also have a suspicion that it needs to not be inside a "tell active document" but it probably doesn't matter.
    But my AppleScript is rusty.
