What stops Solaris from copying over a running executeable file? Some Unix systems give "Text File Busy" errno, but
Solaris lets you, and the running exe eventually core dumps.

I could suggest you some services that you may stop in Windows platform.. If not You may look into some services
with analogous names and stop them. But you may go about stopping all database and SAP J2E services.

And when I do SAPCAR u2013xvf SAPEXE_15-10006264.SAR, SAPCAR only decompress a few files and I´ve this error:

Instead when I decompress the SAPEXEDB_15-10006263.SAR, SAPCAR does this correctly. I´ve tried to download again the file but the error is always the same.Could someone help me?

Now, I´ve unpacked the files but when I do the file copy (in order to upgrade the kernel), I´ve these errors:

When installing mission control on rhel64bit - "text file busy" message
Dear gurus,
I am trying to run jrmc-3.1.2-1.6.0-linux-x64.bin as

on rhel5.4 64 bit, but I am getting
cannot execute [Text file busy]

Could you please verify that the installer is downloaded correctly and that you have made it executable before trying to execute it, using chmod +x <installer-name>.bin. If the error still occurs then please post the full error output and the steps to reproduce the problem.

Perl script running - "text file busy" error?
Hiya--
Recently, whenever I try to run a perl script, I get the following error:
tcsh: nameofscript.pl: Text file busy.
The permissions on the perl script are set to 755, and this error message occurs whether I type "nameofscript.pl" or "./nameofscript.pl" at the prompt. The initial line is of the script is
#!/usr/bin/perl
Has anyone else encountered this problem? I can't for the life of me figure out why it's occurring now. (I've run this script before without any problems. It's only within the last 2-3 weeks that this error pops up and won't go away, and only for .pl scripts.)
Advice much appreciated.

Query on static text files upload ? Please reply
Hi all,
We have some doubts in uploading static text files in RAR 5.3 version. Can anybody please clarify at the earliest?
1) Can we prepare the SoD rule set in the static text files (as provided by SAP during installation)
till Action (t- code) level conflicts and upload the same. After that cam we add/change the
authorization objects manually as per the business requirement? Whether this is possible?
Does a small SPACE in the text file will impact the rule set uploading?
2) If we are configuring the rule set manually i.e when we are assigning t-codes to the functions,
we believe the authorization objects will gets picked up automatically from the back end system for that particular t-code and the object values can be edited as per the SoDs of the business requirement? Is our understanding correct?
If this is true, refer to question 1 whether we will get the authorization objects in case of
uploading the text files (Business process, Funcitons, rule set,action level) only at action
level?
3) Once if we have used the text files for uploading the rule set can we edit them manually i..e disabling the t-codes from function, deleting the risk ids etc.,. ORELSE even the changes has to be made in the text files and upload again replacing the existing rule set whenever there are changes in the SoD rule set?

Ans - Theoratically we can prepare our own text files in the same format as provided by SAP. Till action level it is not so difficult. Difficulty rises when we create permission files. This is near to impossible to create exact copy of SPA authorization objects and values due to human error. So it is advisable to upload SAP standard for sap specific analysis and at the same time we can keep org levle ruleset and risks. We do it by doing it in GRC manually( Create business process, function id, risks and generate rul sets) - that is better practice.

Ans - As far I know the text file should be in exact format if we want to create custom files.

We have to change it in GRC manually.
From your question what I could get is that you want to do it according to your business scenario. Better if you collect data(as you will even do in case of text files) and configure it manually.

Create a new dimension in business layer from Data source: text file on the web
Hi,
I have a text data source which is published every few hours that is accessible from a certain URL. I follow the instruction given in this http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-43144 - where it shows in great detail how to create the connection, data foundation as well as business layer to create a universe for this type of data.
All is well - I can use this universe in my WEBI doc and display the data.
However, in order for me to merge the data from this universe with another universe, I need to create new dimension based on the data from the text file. The new dimension value is simply the first 4 characters of the Subject found in the text file. The "Subject" dimension is of variant type: varchar.
Following the guide mentioned earlier, the connection is using SAP BO OpenConnectivity driver. And this driver limits severely the SQL statement that I can use to extract a substring of another string. Here's the screenshot of the SQl expression that I can use with this driver
After hours of searching, I cannot find any other connection driver for a text file that's published on a certain URL. The BO OpenConnection driver is the best that I could find.
So here are my problems
1. one of my data source is a text file published on a web
2. the only connection I can create does not allow me to create new dimension in the universe to create an important column "subject ID"
3. I can create the column in webi as a variable. But when I do so, I cannot merge it with existing dimension (webi not allowing to merge these 2 types). And without the merge, the flat file universe with my database universe can't be combined.
I'm using WEBI Rich client version 4.1 SP3 Patch 1. Build 14.1.3.1300
Is there any other idea that you can suggest without requiring to change the extracted data?

Address book .... importing text file
I am designing an address book which opens a text file called AddressBook.txt which reads in the information in the following format:
lastname,firstname,street,city,state,zip,phonenumber,birthday,persontype
lastname2,firstname2,street2,city2,state2,zip2,phonenumber2,birthday2,persontype2
etc. (with a maximum entries of 500)
I am having a problem reading in the information without the commas and wrapping to the next line. I can either use the BufferedReader or Scanner to input the file and as you can see below, my code is not complete yet. I can't figure out how to code the storeAddress() method in order to get the addressBookEntries[] to include the necessary information for outputting, sorting, etc. If I can get the information read into the addressBookEntries[], I think I will probably be able to proceed in the rest of the required tasks (i.e. sorting by last name, searching by last name, etc.)

How to export to text file without ruin the format
Hi guys,
I need some help here. My company recently come with the decision to print the mainframe report file that usually come as a text file, to a virtual printer. This virtual printer is printing the report as Adobe PDF format. The problem is, my Line of Business have a macros on Excell file that will grab the information from the text file to be processed in the Excell format. I tried to use Adobe Professional 8 to re-convert the PDF file to be text file, but the result is, most of the blank space is gone, and it is align to left, thus make it unusable to the Excell file.
Unfortunately, I can't provide you the sample of the document, because it contain classified customer info.
But appreciate if you can give me some advice.

Tagged output PDFs, with a well-formed structure, provide (amoung other things) the ability to Save As/Export
content to some other applications with all or most of the layout/format intact.
I suspect that the output PDFs you have are untagged.
As there is, currently, a rather limited number of applications that support adequate tag management
(FrameMaker, InDesign, MS Word (via Adobe's PDFMaker & to a much lesser extent with Office Save As to PDF - XPS)
I suspect the mechanism used to provide your PDFs won't cut it with regards to providing a tagged output PDF having a
well-fomed structure (which would include dictionaries containing format/layout data).
As alluded to by Bernd, there may be third party plug-ins that might help.
The more reliable/functional ones tend to not be inexpensive.

No Authorization To Upload Text file for a Variable
Hi Experts,
I am trying to upload a text file from Multiple Selection screen of a Query in Business Explorer and it gives the error message of 'No Upload Authorization'
An additional Information: I could able to Upload the text file when we were in SP17. Its recently upgraded to SP 21. Does this Upgradation of service pack has any Impact on this??
An idea about this error, PLEASE ?

Checkout on both the page title bar Options menu and the context menu of the Detailed Navigation iView display an Add to Portal Favorites item, allowing users to store links to favorites (thats where I believe your missing permission).
The Portal Favorites iView is part of the Knowledge Management installation and is integrated into the portal. Thus if the above steps are done and the settings activated, then your standard user should not see error in the Portal Favourites with the role that you have already assigned to the user.
Also look into Standard User (eu_role), which basic functionality (portal personalization iViews) for the core portal platform and default content for the Knowledge Management and Collaboration capabilities of SAP NetWeaver. By default, the Everyone group in the portal is assigned to this role.

Introduction
The use of FTP from ABAP seems to have been a hot topic on the ABAP Forums of late. I thought I might sit down and document whatever I could find on this subject and share it as a weblog.
Over the years I have seen lots of different solutions for moving files on and off of a SAP system. I have seen external FTP scripts written in OS shell languages. I have seen full blown custom applications that are made to interface to the SAP system. However I think you will find that most of the technology you need to perform a simple FTP from ABAP is already contained in the standard system. All of my examples and screen shots will be coming from a 46C system.
SAP's Solution
If you have ever taken a look at the kernel directory of your SAP system, you might have noticed an interesting little executable: sapftp.exe (the name of the file on Windows SAP Kernels). It is this part of the Kernel that exposes FTP functionality to the ABAP Programming language.
So you have a suspicion that there is FTP functionality in ABAP, but youre not quite sure how to use it. Where do you start? I always turn to the Service Marketplace first. A quick search on SAPFTP reveals there is an entire component (BC-SRV-COM-FTP) on the subject. The most general note and our starting place is OSS Note 93042. This note starts off with a nice description of what SAPFTP is: A client RFC application that is accessed via RFC from ABAP. But we also find out that in addition to SAPFTP being part of the kernel, it is also part of the SAPGui. That means that we can perform FTP commands originating from our R/3 Server or from a Client Workstation.
Well if this solution is accessed via RFC, then we must have to setup some RFC destinations. In fact we have two that we need; SAPFTP for Front-end FTP and SAPFTPA for access on the application server. Luckily we don't even have to mess with setting these RFC destinations up in SM59. SAP has supplied a program, RSFTP005, to generate the destinations for us.
Now before we go off and start written code on our own to hit these FTP functions, why don't we make sure everything is setup and working. Once again SAP has helped us out by providing us with a test program, RSFTP002. (In case you are wondering the FTP functionality and many other test programs are all contained in SAP Development Class SFTP). When we run this test, we get a set input parameters for the server, username password, etc. We want to start out simple and just make sure we are getting a connection. Therefore we will just execute the pwd command (Print Working Directory).

If something did go wrong during the test, I suggest that you active the trace option in SM59 for the FTP Destination. You can then use program RSFTP001 to display the current trace file.
Programming the FTP
Not only does the RSFTP002 program give us a test environment, but it also provides us with a programming example. We can see that the FTP functionality is really provided by a set of function modules all within the SFTP Function Group. We have the basic commands such as FTP_CONNECT, FTP_COMMAND, and FTP_DISCONNECT that can be strung together to create a complete file operation action. The FTP_COMMAND Function allows you to issue arbitrary FTP commands as long as the SAPFTP function, the Host, and the Destination server all support the command. Then you have the specialized functions such as FTP_R3_TO_SERVER, FTP_R3_TO_CLIENT, and FTP_CLIENT_TO_R3. This lets you take some data in memory and transfer it someplace else. This has the advantage of not having to write the data to the file system first and not to have to issue any FTP commands. However these functions are also limited to the scope described.
If you are already familiar with FTP in general, working with these function modules should not seem to difficult. The Connect, Command, Disconnect actions would seem somewhat self explanatory. So instead of looking at the entire program in detail let's focus on two things that may be unfamiliar. First the program starts off with an ABAP Kernel System call to AB_RFC_X_SCRAMBLE_STRING. Well we don't want to pass a potentially sensitive password openly. Therefore the FTP_CONNECT function module requires that the password be encrypted before it receives it. It is this System call that performs that one-way encryption. Now I checked a 620 SP42 system and in this example, SAP has replace the AB_RFC_X_SCRAMBLE_STRING with a function call to HTTP_SCRAMBLE. Unfortunately HTTP_SCRAMBLE doesn't even exist in my 46C system. The only other thing that I wanted to point out about these function calls is the exporting parameter on the FTP_CONNECT. It passes back a parameter called handle. This handle then becomes an importing parameter to all subsequent calls: FTP_COMMAND and FTP_CLOSE. This handle is the pointer to the instance of FTP that we started with the FTP_CONNECT. This assures that we get reconnected to the same FTP session with each command we issue.
FTP Development
I thought I would share a few of the things that can be built using this FTP functionality. First off I didn't want a bunch of ABAP programs directly working with the SAP FTP Function modules. As you can see there is already a difference in the examples for encrypting the password between 46C and 620. Therefore I thought it would be best to encapsulate all the FTP function in one custom ABAP OO Class. Not only did I get the opportunity to hid the inner SAP functionality and make it easy to switch out during upgrades, but I also get consistent error handling as well. I accept the User Name, Password, Host, and RFC Destination in during the Constructor of the class. I then store these values away in Protected Attributes. Each function module is then implemented as a Instance Method. The Password encryption functionality is then all tucked away nicely in the class. Also the calling program doesn't have to worry about keeping track of the FTP handle either since it is an instance attribute as well.
Next I got really carried away. I wanted a way to record entire FTP scripts that could be filled with values at runtime and ran as a step in a background job. My company used to have many interfaces that ran frequently sending files all over the place. We needed a mechanism to monitor and support these file moves. This was really the root of this tool, but it also gives you an idea of how powerful these functions can be.

I've been in IT for over 30 years as a mainframe contract programmer/analyst. Recently a company hired me for my legacy knowledge of there business to become a developer on SAP for these same systems.
My first task is to develop a generalized ftp application to send data to the mainframe and then on to financial institutions. I have created an ABAP/4 test program with literals for the dest/host etc. And it works fine. I need more detail/guidance in creating the Class/Method/Function you have described to make this parameter driven and callable by other programs. I know this is a lot to ask, any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. When I mention class creation to the existing staff they all say "Oh, we don't use or know anything about that object oriented stuff, we just right programs."

"we don't use or know anything about that object oriented stuff" That's something I might have expected to hear 4 years ago. That's kind of like saying that you only want to use half of the programming lanuage (the old half at that).
However it is true that you have to learn to walk before you run. There are some fundamentals to ABAP that are usefull to have down before you start in with ABAP OO. But I wouldn't let that hold you back for long.
I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to teach you everything you would need to know to create a function module or a class in this posting. There was a nice weblog that was just posted the other day that had the steps to create your first simple class. I suggest you start there.

I'm afraid I haven't done either. However I have used the HTTP client functionality in the WebAS 620 (if_http_client) along with an HTTP proxy. I have an example of this in another weblog.

Note that in this code everytime you need to use the symbol ' you have to doble it like ''Fixed Text''.

Ability to create a collection from a text file containing the names of the pictures
1 thing that would be very good is the ability to create a collection / quick collection from a text file that contains the names of the picture we want in that collection...
The reason for that is when i receive an order from a customer typicaly 100-200 different pictures (i'm a wedding photographer), i ask my customer to send me an excel spread sheet with all the name or number of the picture thay want with size & quantity...
I would like to be able to use that file as an input for a batch job that would add all those files to a collection "customer order" instaid od adding them 1 by 1... it would save me lots of time and would prevent some errors in the order...
I am currently able to do that with the help of a small utility (Useful File Utility) is the name... with the other RAW converter i use... BibbleWell, it is workflow software, true, but it's really focussed on image development. What you're proposing would necessarily make the primary focus be on the business angle, I suspect.
If you're talking about tools to help customers sit down and pick what they want for manual processing later, that's one thing - but going the rest of the distance to order processing and fulfillment would be out of scope, at least in my view. The reason is that there is just so much room for potential variation in how this gets conducted that I can't see how Adobe could possibly satisfy every pro with one implementation. Even just dealing with all of the possible payment vendors is a hugely problematic area.
I agree with Don; a third-party plugin via the upcoming SDK might be a distinct possibility, particularly if it were for a "plus services" solution in which the plugin were designed to work with a specific fulfillment vendor. THAT could work quite nicely, and the plugin might even be free (in return for giving the vendor your business, of course).
In other words, it's not that I see it as a bad idea, it's just that I don't think it belongs in the "core" of LR. This is something that is best dealt with using the SDK so that differences in processes can be allowed for. -
Administration - Marketing -> Import, you can set a parameter value "Import mode" for what to do in case of duplication as "update existing records", "Import new records". The final report of this import is presented as a text file that can be viewed in Business Administration - Marketing -> Import -> Exceptions. Whatever the exception, including duplication import occurs during import and recorded in a text file. What are the fields that determine the duplicity? How I can I can change those?
You will be returned anything that is in the option's value parameter. What is displayed in the dropdown and what is put in the value attribute do NOT need to be the same, so maybe you should start there.

How to import a text file created in Pages (iWork '08) to Photoshop Elements
I am totally a novice at working with Photoshop Elements. I need help. I want to create my business card in Photoshop Elements with a background image and then a text layer over the background layer. The logo and text was created in Pages (iWork '08). Can I import this text file to Photoshop Elements and if so how do I do that? I cannot create the same logo in Elements unless someone can tell me how to draw a circle with a transparent background so that just the outline of the circle shows and the background comes through. Thanks for any help you can offer. I have OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and Photoshop Elements 6.
In PSE, to draw an empty circle use the elliptical marquee tool and hold down shift while you drag to constrain it to a circle. That will give you an empty selection, then go to Edit>Stroke (outline) selection. A window appears where you can choose the width and color of the stroke.
However, I'm not understanding why you would want to create your business card in PSE rather than in Pages or equivalent. Is there a special reason for this?
EDIT As for the text file, it would be simpler just to retype it in PSE, since it can't be very much text. Remember that PSE doesn't do all the fancy things with text that Pages can, although it can do some things (like warping) that Pages can't.
You could activate the text tool and use copy/paste, but you'll lose most of the formatting.

Hi, I have an oracle database with certain number of objects in it and I want it to convert/migrate to mysql. I have done the reverse using oracle sql developer and it was pretty convenient,but I am not finding any likewise feature for converting ora
