Text Flash crispy...

Hi,
when I produce in Imovie a film including text flash during the film or text transition from one chapter to the next, everything looks perfect. After IDVD has done its stuff, text passages become crispy and look poor in comparsim to Imovie. Quality is set to professional and film is below 2h.
Any hint?
Cheers and many thanks - Armin

There's a lot of compression going from iMovie (13 gigs per hour of video) to a DVD (4 gigs per hour or two of video). Text is one of the areas that can visually suffer. Some workaround ideas -- use larger fonts, and choose a san serif font (eg. Arial or Helvetica that don't have small elements that obviously get fuzzy when encoded).

    Because of their serious usability problems, both Flash Text and Flash Buttons have been removed from DW CS4.  There is no alternative method offered in DW other than the use of sIFR for Flash Text (not a good general replacement method) -

    or here -

  • Dynamic Text Flash Pro

    Hi, so i'm new to Flash but I am slowly learning. The thing I need to do my not be possible but if it is I would love to know how.
    So... I'm creating a quiz on Flash, and on my question screen, I have an avatar that I want animated but I cant have it animated because I  have 12 frames with all y different questions on. It skips to the next scene, when the submit button is hit.
    Now, my question and answers are pulled from an XML file, the answers are displayed an Radio buttons and the question in a dymanic text box. Im thinking the only way I can have my avatar animated is to have my question change in the Dymanic text box when the submit button is clicked and have one long key frame (say 35 frames long) rather than having 12 key frames all in a row.
    So the question is, can anyone tell me how (if its possible) to get the questions and answer of my dymanic text to change when the submit button is clicked. Without changing key frames?

    You should be able to simply assign new text with each new question to the textfield and keep most of it all on one frame.

  • Explorer HTML text flash bug?

    Hello!
    I have the following problem for a dynamically created
    textfield:
    mytext.text = "<b>bold text</b><span
    class='green'>green</span>";
    Even tough it works great in the Flash environment, it will
    render differently in an IE7 browser.
    In Firefox, it renders the bold and class tags correctly. IE7
    doesn't render anything, it show only plain text: "<b>bold
    text</b><span class='green'>green</span>"...
    If I change text to htmlText, IE7 will render the bold tags
    but no class [stylesheet] tags correctly... and Firefox will only
    show the bold tags, no line breaks and no class [stylesheet] tags
    correctly?
    AS2 had some bugs regarding html rendering but I don't think
    I ever had this problem regarding html text back then...
    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance,
    T.

    I too am experiencing the same bug with my own site. The only
    thing that makes me feel better about the situation is this problem
    is seen on Adobe's home page as well. If you pull up a browser in
    Linux and view the homepage, you will notice that the pull down
    menu on this site falls under the flash animation.
    My only solution so far is to check the clients OS and if
    it's reported as a Linux box then to serve up a static image
    instead. This only works if the OS is being reported correctly to
    the server... Not a good overall solution though.
    Does anyone know if any fix is underway?

    hi,
    just wondering if anyone else if having this problem...
    When I use Safari 4 to scroll up/down web pages, either with the bars at the side or the scroll arrows etc, the text gets brighter up to a point where it almost blends in with the white background, all text anywhere on any page is fuzzy/hazy , kind of blurry for want of a better word/description.
    no other browser is affected! -must be software, phew...I thought my macbook was dying for a while

    Hi
    Via the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the trash, then restart Safari. This resets Safari preferences to default values. Restore any custom settings in either the Preference panel, Edit (spelling), or View Menu. Also, restore any custom icons.
    Also, the reset adds Apple default bookmarks to your Bookmarks collection (command/option/B keys). Delete any you don't want.
    If that doesn't change the behavior, try Safari from another User Account (if necessary, you can create one in System Preferences>Accounts). Log on to the other account and open Safari.

  • Flashing Text

    I wanted to know if there is somewhere in Dreamweaver that
    allows you to make text flash. I am in the process of doing a
    webpage and don't know how to do that. Also are there special codes
    that I would have to use?

    Before answering this question you need a better
    understanding of the
    interplay between HTML and CSS. The former is used to *hold*
    the elements
    that make up your page, which the latter is used to *style*
    those same
    elements. "Style" could mean to color it, to give it borders,
    to position
    it on the page, to allow it to interact with adjacent
    elements, or to
    prevent it from interacting with adjacent elements, etc.
    "Hold" the
    elements means to place them on the page in ways that can be
    easily grouped
    and styled with CSS.
    To use CSS on a page already built with plain HTML styling,
    you need to make
    sure that you have removed all <font> tags from the
    code. Do you have any
    of them?

  • Flash CS5 wont open after working for years? Entry point Not Found

    Hi Guys,
    I am having a problem opening my Flash CS5 after it working fine since I installed it forever ago. I do not know what could have caused this, and my other cs5 programs are opening fine.
    Dreamweaver and Fireworks didnt change all (these 3; along with Flash; are what I use most)
    I also open photoshop and aftereffects from my master collection for testing and they opened fine also. I ran a scan using microsoft essentials and found nothing.
    I tried run as administrator on flash and it said the same thing.
    I am using windows 7 Ultimate N SP1 64 bit
    Here is the alert in text.
    flash.exe -Entry Point Not Found
    The procedure entry point ?ButtonChanged@UI_ClearButtonTextEdit@controls@dvaui@@UAEXP
    AVUI_ButtonChangedMessage@23@@Z could not be located in the
    dynamic link library dvaui.dll
    Please let me know what is going on here.
    Thanks, I really appreciate the help.
    Randy

    You should be able to cherry pick Flash out to uninstall and reinstall it from the master suite installer if I remember correctly. There's nothing wrong with a fresh reinstall, especially after years. That's a long time to be bulletproof.
    Otherwise I can't hand you a commercial DLL but I really don't think your problems will be fixed even if I did. I think it's just hardware doing what it's notorious for, eventually having a fault somewhere. A reinstall of Flash should be fast and will write to new sectors and fix the file.

  • Dynamic text in looping movie clip

    Hi,
    I am looping a movie clip which has a dynamic text box. I
    need to call data from XML and place the same in the Dynamic text
    box as per the duplicated movie clip. how do i do that.
    Thanks,
    Ayush

    on (release) {
    _parent.frontFields.topTextArch.ph2TopTextBrush._visible =
    false;
    That is the script attached to my button. I can see the text
    flash for a second when I push the button but it does'nt go away
    because the looping movie clip just continually goes back to the
    first frame and makes the ph2TopTextBrush text field visible again.
    I think I know what your saying. Your saying to attach a
    script to the first frame of the looping movie clip that would
    check to see which of the 3 dynamic text fields are visible. That
    would be perfect but I'm not sure how to do it.
    What would the script that I place on my button look like?
    What would the script in the first frame of the looping movie clip
    look like?

  • Flash Lag

    I have been having a serious lag issue with my site http://www.byfchat.com .  I run a flash chat application.  The server doesn't lag but after users have been logged in for about a hour thier pc's lag bad. Any browser will lag.  What is happening is the browser cpu usage increases to the point it lags the entire pc down.  The users simply have to refresh their browser to clear up the lag for about another hour or so (depending on thier rig).  Does anyone have any suggestions for this?  I do not have a cache dump option in my script.  Does anyone know if flash player can be configed to dump the garbage files that are building up on the users pc?

    Uhh i dont think this is the issue.
    It's a very basic flash video. It only consists of 2 layers, a blue background layer and text flashing on the top on the other layer
    Like this
    Then the text on the top layer flashes to this
    So the problem is that when i switch tabs for a minute, then return to the page i get this
    for 15 to 20 seconds. Which is strange between it should loop continously and not paused at all. It's as if i need to wait for the start of the movie untill i see the animation. For example .swf is 25 second long, if i switch tabs, i need to wait until the the start of the next 25 seconds to see the animation.

  • Cannot use text:TextField with dynamic text in 3.2

    Hi,<br /><br />I have a multi-lang app which uses English LTR and Hebrew-Arabic RTL.<br />I am using a properties file for each language, and I get the<br />right item using resourceManager getString.<br /><br />Until 3.2 I had to reverse the order of the words in each item when using<br />Hebrew (or Arabic for that matter).<br /><br />In 3.2 with the new Text layout framework, this is not needed (MAJOR IMPROVEMENT) but I cannot get it to work with dynamic text only static text.<br /><br />of course all works great if I upgarde to flex 4.0, and use the textBox component, but I do not want to do that, so late in the development phase of the application.<br /><br />Here is a small mxml which shows the problem:<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /><mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"<br />   xmlns:TryComps="appComponents.*" xmlns:text="flash.text.*"><br />   <mx:Style source="css/flashTypeStyles.css"/> <br />   <mx:Script><br />     <br />       import mx.resources.ResourceManager;<br />     <br />   </mx:Script><br />     <mx:Label text="Using text:TextField FIXED : THIS WORKS"/><br />        <!-- some text in hebrew if you dont see it you probably dont have it insalled --><br />     <text:TextField text="&#1506;&#1489;&#1512;&#1497;&#1514; &#1499;&#1493;&#1514;&#1489;&#1497;&#1501; &#1502;&#1497;&#1502;&#1497;&#1503; &#1500;&#1513;&#1502;&#1488;&#1500;"/><br />        <mx:Label text="Using text:TextField DYNAMIC :  THIS DOES NOT WORK"/><br />     <text:TextField text="{resourceManager.getString(Locales.LOCALE_BUNDLE,'BI_DIRECTIONAL_TEXT')}"/><br />     <br /></mx:Application><br /><br />Any one has an idea ???<br />The 'BI_DIRECTIONAL_TEXT' is an entry in the property file which has the same value as the static text above.<br /><br />The run time error I get is : <br />TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter text must be non-null.<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Eli7

    If you look thru the TextField class in the help documents you will find all of the properties you can manipulate.  One property is the wordWrap property which will keep you text from going off the side of the textfield.  Another is multiline which will allow the textfield to have more than one line.  And another is the autoSize property which will make your textfield adjust to fit the amount of text loaded into it.

  • How to make text continuous, unaffected by transitions, in iMovie 10.0.2?

    I am making a slideshow on iMovie 10.0.2, and I want to put a single caption for multiple pictures, but the text flashes off when the transitions happen, for a second, and come back on after the transition.  Is there a way for the text to be continuous, unaffected by the transitions?  It is distracting to watch the pictures when the text flashes off and back on for a second.
    I used the automatic content to add the transitions and duration of the pictures, and I think this may be affecting it, but I am not sure.
    Thanks for any help!!

    It happens with all titles I try.  When I first created the slide show, I was manually changing the duration and adding the transitions, and the transitions have no effect on the title. But because I have a lot of pictures in the slide show, I used the automatic content to automatically change the duration and insert transitions.  This is when the text began to flash off with the transitions.
    The beginning of the video is fine--transitions have no effect on the text, up until the point I switched to the automatic content.  After that point is when the titles flash off with the transitions.

  • Javascript to Flash communication

    I m using ExternalInterface.addCallback function to call
    flash function from javascript.
    It is working properly when i test it locally but as i put it
    on server it display nothing.
    this is my javascript function that calls flash function: -
    <script>
    function javascript_to_flash() {
    alert("before flash function call.");
    window.document.moviename.flashFunc();
    alert("after flash function call.");
    setInterval(javascript_to_flash()', 6000);
    </script>
    this is my flash function: -
    function flashFunc()
    _root.textbox.text= "flash function called \n";
    ExternalInterface.addCallback("flashFunc", null, flashFunc);

    Take a look at the fscommand function under Help.
    Here is an example:
    "The following example applies fscommand() to a button in
    Flash for the purpose of opening a JavaScript message box in an
    HTML page. The message itself is sent to JavaScript as the
    fscommand parameter.
    You must add a function to the web page that contains the SWF
    file. This function, myDocument_DoFSCommand(), waits for an
    fscommand() call. When fscommand() is triggered in Flash (for
    example, when a user clicks the button), the command and parameter
    strings are passed to the myDocument_DoFSCommand()function. You can
    use the passed strings in your JavaScript or VBScript code in any
    way you like. In this example, the function contains a conditional
    if statement that checks to see if the command string is
    "messagebox". If it is, a JavaScript alert box displays the
    contents of the fscommand() function's parameters string.
    function myDocument_DoFSCommand(command, args) {
    if (command == "messagebox") {
    alert(args);
    In the Flash document, add fscommand() to a button:
    fscommand("messagebox", "This is a message box called from
    within Flash.")
    You can use expressions for the parameters of the fscommand()
    function, as shown in the following example:
    fscommand("messagebox", "Hello, " + name + ", welcome to our
    website!")
    To test the SWF file, select File > Publish Preview >
    HTML. If you publish your SWF file using the Flash with FSCommand
    template (in the Publish Settings dialog box, select the HTML tag),
    Flash inserts the myDocument_DoFSCommand() function automatically.
    The SWF file's NAME and ID attributes will be the filename. For
    example, for the file myDocument.fla, the attributes would be set
    to myDocument."

  • No flash elements panel in DW3

    I am working my way through Adobe's "Classroom in a Book" for
    DW3. An exercise requires me to make changes in the Flash Elements
    Panel, but I can not find this panel, or any reference to it in any
    menus or windows.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    OttO

    As I try to figure this out, I think I am at least getting a
    better idea how to explain the problem.
    These instructions from the text book may help you direct me
    in the right direction:
    * first you insert the Flash element object onto the page
    from the insert > media menu.
    * Finally, you save an instance (or copy) of the Flash
    element as a SWF file in your site.
    * Next, you configure the various Flash element properties
    through a custom Dreamweaver panel.
    These instructions then explain,
    " Each Flash element is unique in its number and type of
    properties available; the Image Viewer, for example offers 20
    different user-definable options."
    I should further clarify (I hope), that when I follow these
    instructions and go to insert the Image viewer from the insert
    media menu, I do not have Image viewer as an option in the list of
    media I can insert. There is:
    Flash Button
    Flash Text
    Flash Paper
    Flash Video
    and then other media like shockwave etc.
    I seem to have to insert this "Image Viewer" to have the
    Flash Elements Panel appear, as the text book goes on to explain:
    " Choose Insert > Media> Image Viewer.
    When the Save Flash Element dialog box appears,navigate to
    the lesson 11 assets folder and, in the file name field enter
    slideshow.swf. Click Save.
    The Flash elements panel appears with its list of properties
    It seems to me I do not have, or can not find "Image Viewer"
    as an option when inserting media, which would then give me the
    Flash elements panel.
    Sorry for the round about way I have approached this problem.
    I backed-up a bit in the lessonto help explain my predicament.
    Something I should have done to start.
    Again, Thanks for your help.
    OttO
