Text Format Different Once Generated

When I format the text in Robohelp for HTML it includes bold
text, underlined text and light type face text. When I generate the
Webhelp and open with Internet Explorer 6.0 there is bold text that
is not bold in Robohelp.
If I open with another broswer i.e. Mozilla Firefox, there is
no bold text other than what I have bold in Robohelp.
Any ideas?
Brendan

Brendan,
No ideas except to check the true code. Sometimes, if you are
entering in line format changes, RoboHelp may not clean up some
tags and you may have duplicates or competing tags, e.g. <SPAN
STYLE = "whatever"><FONT = "something different>. If this
is happening in a lot of places, you need to rethink how you handle
format changes.
For IE users, here is a true story:
Internet Explorer wouldn't connect to the internet. We could
access the internet from the MyComputer/Favorites tab but it
wouldn't show all multimedia content. IE always gave a "page cannot
be displayed" page. I was totally baffled so decided I would try
Microsoft's paid support. They had me download and try Firefox.
When that worked, they closed the issue and wouldn't continue to
troubleshoot. So, the official Microsoft position seems to be to
use Firefox.
Hopefully, you won't have to resort to that for your
users...

  • Text format different on first page

    Hi,
    i have a serious problem with Pages '08 and writing on the first page.
    It's hard to describe, but i try my best, so please be patient.
    Basically the problem is that the text on the first page appears "bolder" or for the lack of a better term darker than on pages 2 and continued. It is not much on a MacBook screen, but if you magnify it or print it as a pdf you'll notice it right away. From my perspective i would say that everything after Page 1 looks normal like in any other word processor. So i guess some setting must be screwed up. By the way i can start with a blank page or a preset Theme, it makes no difference.
    For example, on my printer Page 1 looks like too much ink is used while pages 2 cont. look totally fine. It's not a printer problem though, you can see the difference on the screen and on a pdf file.
    It's really hard to describe without seeing a picture of it. Still i hope someone can help me.
    Thanks in advance!

    Black_Bird,
    Welcome to Pages discussions.
    This is difficult to diagnose. If you'd like, I'd be willing to take a look at the document to see if I can figure it out. If you click on my name in the upper left of this post, you'll get my email address.

    any tips??
    Mahdi Charara

    hi
    thank you for ur answer,
    i removed the extra line space, but still i have a problem on this report, when it is opening in the text format thier is a junk character appearing instead of the page break, it is a small box with character symbol of "FF" , i donot know from where this character comming, how to remove it?
    is there another way of opening the text result directly from the "view output" option other than opining it in the browser and then save as text?

  • How can I keep my text format after pasting a text with a different format?

    No matter when and where I start to write some text (whether it is a SImpleText, E-Mails, or anyother application's doc), if I have to cut and paste a text from a different source that is formatted differently than my original text (ie. the one I am already using ), once I have pasted the differently formatted text in my doc, the typeset changes while it continues to type with the same formatt used in the text I just pasted.
    How can I continue typing with the same text formatt used before pasting the new text, after pasting the new text, without having to change size, font style etc. Is there a short cut?
    What I have been doing to avoid this problem is: I usually type my entire text content (whether it is an E-Mail, or other doc) then, once I am done typing, I paste the text that was cut from a differently formatted document, so that my text remains with the same formatt in its integrity, while the pasted text stands out differently, but it is a bit complex doing that , because I not only have to remember to paste the other text when I am done typing (I run the risk of forgetting to paste the text I need to insert--which has happened already) or I keep struggling with my formatt change after the pasting of the new text, so my document text starts looking like the same text as the one which was just pasted.
    Thanks for your time reading this!

    (1) First, let's make sure we're talking about the same thing. By "SImpleText, E-Mails" you mean TextEdit and Mail, right?
    (2) Some apps (TextEdit, Mail) use the text engine provided by Mac OS X. By and large, these apps will behave in a similar manner. Others (eg, MS Word) use their own text engine, and their behaviour can be quite different. For such an app you need to consult its manual.
    (3) In TextEdit, if you want the pasted text to adopt the current style, then use kurt188's tip.
    (4) However, if you may want the pasted text to retain its own attributes, while you continue to type in the previous style. I don't know of any shortcut or command that will achieve this. However, you can try to work around it.
    (4.1) TextEdit has the Copy Style (⌘⌥C) and Paste Style (⌘⌥V) commands. If you haven't yet used it, ⌘⌥V will insert the default style. So type, paste, ⌘⌥V, then continue typing. If you have used, it will insert whatever style was copied. You can, type, ⌘V, click somewhere before the pasted text, ⌘⌥C, click after the pasted text, ⌘⌥V, and continue typing.
    (4.2) Alternatively, type your text. Then type one more character, eg, "x". Then ←, ⌘V, ⇧→, and start typing. The new text should adopt "x"'s format. (This should work in Mail, too. I don't know, because IMHO e-mail should always be plain text.)

  • How do I generate a report in text format

    How do I generate a report in text format and send it to both a file and to a printer?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I run a series of tests on multiple stations and I need to generate a report, both electronic and one to be printed for a DHR (device history record), for each station. If I use file i/o as you suggested is the preferred approach to generate an electronic file and make the report from that, or generate both the electronic and hard copy report from arrays as the measurement data is acquired. Note that the electronic data is more detailed than the data in the hardcopy report.

  • Is it possible to generate a report in CSV/text format ?

    Hello , I received a request from a client to generate a report in CSV/text format ? Is it possible ?
    How should I do it ? Thanks.

    Hi!
    If i understood right, you want to generate a .csv-file from all item-values and records in your / customers form:
    So try this procedure:
    procedure write_csv_file( p_csv_file in varchar2,
                              p_block    in varchar2 ) is
    l_file      client_text_io.file_type;
    l_item      varchar2(61) := p_block || '.' || get_block_property ( p_block, first_item );
    l_tmp_str   varchar2(32000);
    l_delimeter varchar2(1) := ';';  --> change as you need (',' or char(9) for tab)
    l_cnt       pls_integer := 1;
    l_too_big   exception;
    begin
    l_file := client_text_io.fopen ( p_csv_file, 'W' );  --> existing file will be deleted!
    if
      NOT client_text_io.is_open ( l_file )
    then
      message ( 'File ' || p_csv_file || ' could not be opened for writing. Please check filename and path.' );
      message ( ' ' );
      return;
    end if;
    for l_rec in ( select :system.cursor_block cur_block from dual ) loop --> this one-count-loop is just for Steve C.
                                                                         --> spare one variable and plenty of ram ;-)
      if
        :system.cursor_block != upper ( p_block )
      then
        go_block ( p_block );
      end if;
      first_record;
      loop
        loop
          if
            get_item_property ( l_item, item_type ) in ( 'TEXT ITEM', 'LIST', 'RADIO GROUP', 'CHECKBOX', 'DISPLAY ITEM' )
          then
            if
              length ( l_tmp_str || name_in ( l_item ) || l_delimeter ) > 32000
            then
              raise l_too_big;
               end if;
            l_tmp_str := l_tmp_str || name_in ( l_item ) || l_delimeter;
          end if;
          exit when     l_item = p_block || '.' || get_block_property ( p_block, last_item );
          l_item := p_block || '.' || get_item_property ( l_item, nextitem );
        end loop;
        client_text_io.put_line ( l_file, l_tmp_str );

        exit when :system.last_record = 'TRUE';
        next_record;
        l_item := p_block || '.' || get_block_property ( p_block, first_item );
        l_cnt := l_cnt + 1;
      end loop;
      go_block ( l_rec.cur_block );
    end loop;
    client_text_io.fclose ( l_file );

  • ReportEntry Text Format

    Question No 1.
    Is there any documentation available on the ReportEntry Text Format . Lets say for the Numeric tests I see some entry like this
    Limits:
    Low: 49.25
    High: 50.25
    ~
    How would it look like for other type of test steps ?
    I want to change them to another format in the ModifyReport Callback and the parsing function(s) needs to know what text will be sent to it by TS.
    I am using Testand3.0.
    Question No 2.
    Also this new format has to be generated along with the existing one. Do I have to write a custom routine that creates a file and appends all these entries to this file and then closes this file some where in the ssequence file?
    Like I said I still need the existing report format also as the operators have got used to looking at it . The new extra format is to fecilitate some other automation tool to collect these reports data automatically.I already have the ModifyReport used once, so do I just copy some of the test report generation steps to generate another report - what's the best of doing please sugggest.
    Thanks
    Sumit

    Hi
    The TestReport callback in the ProcessModel for your sequence file is where the ResultsList returned from your sequence file is processed into the format that is seen in the results file.  You can choose to override this callback in your sequence file or modify it directly in the process model.  If you want the same modifications to appear in the test report for multiple different sequence files I suggest you modify the ProcessModel directly.
    NOTE.  Be sure to copy the NI ProcessModel you are using to your User directory before commencing your edits.
    Question 1
    One way to get the test report format is create a dummy sequence and run it, this will be useful later when you are testing your modifications.
    You can also modify the results format from Configure->Report Options in the sequence editor.
    Question 2
    If you want to maintain the old report you will have to create new steps to process the ResultsList to create, populate and save your new format.  Take a look at how the existing steps manipulate the results data, these will get you thinking about what is required.

    Steve

  • Radio buttons - text format

    Hi everyone!
    I can't seem to get this to work! I want the text on the radio buttons to wrap correctly as they reach the end of the stage (right now they just keep going forever. Here is the code I am using:
    package {
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        import flash.text.TextField;
        import flash.text.TextFormat;
        import flash.text.TextFieldAutoSize;
        import flash.events.Event;
        import fl.controls.RadioButton;
        import fl.controls.RadioButtonGroup;
        public class QuizQuestion extends MovieClip {
            private var question:String;
            private var questionField:TextField;
            private var choices:Array;
            private var theCorrectAnswer:int;
            private var theUserAnswer:int;
            //variables for positioning:
            private var questionX:int = 25;
            private var questionY:int = 150;
            private var answerX:int = 25;
            private var answerY:int = 200;
            private var spacing:int = 25;
            public function QuizQuestion(theQuestion:String, theAnswer:int, ...answers) {
                //store the supplied arguments in the private variables:
                question = theQuestion;
                theCorrectAnswer = theAnswer;
                choices = answers;
                //create and position the textfield (question):
                questionField = new TextField();
                questionField.width = 775;
                questionField.wordWrap = true;
                questionField.multiline = true;
                questionField.text = question;
                //trace (questionField.width);
                questionField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
                questionField.x = questionX;
                questionField.y = questionY;
                addChild(questionField);
                //Text Format for radio buttons
                var txtFmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
                txtFmt.font = "Arial";
                txtFmt.blockIndent = 2;
                txtFmt.color = 0x000000;
                txtFmt.size = 11;
                txtFmt.leading = 4;
                //create and position the radio buttons (answers):
                var myGroup:RadioButtonGroup = new RadioButtonGroup("group1");
                myGroup.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, changeHandler);
                for(var i:int = 0; i < choices.length; i++) {
                    var rb:RadioButton = new RadioButton();
                    rb.setStyle("textFormat", txtFmt);
                    rb.textField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
                    rb.label = choices[i];
                    rb.group = myGroup;
                    rb.value = i + 1;
                    rb.x = answerX;
                    rb.y = questionY + questionField.height + 25 + (i * spacing);
                    addChild(rb);
            private function changeHandler(event:Event) {
                theUserAnswer = event.target.selectedData;
            public function get correctAnswer():int {
                return theCorrectAnswer;
            public function get userAnswer():int {
                return theUserAnswer;
    As you can see, I managed to get the text field style of the radio buttons to use "txtFmt" as the style:
    rb.setStyle("textFormat", txtFmt);
    The issue:
    If I add:
    rb.textField.width = 352;
    rb.textField.height = 60;
    rb.textField.multiline = rb.textField.wordWrap = true;
    inside the "for loop" that creates the radio button, it just makes my text go all crazy! It only extends the text about 30 pixels after the radio button and then starts wrapping it, making it all stack on top of each other. How can I make it create the radio button, show the text on the text field, wrap around once it reached the edge of the stage and the continue the next button.
    thank you in advanced,
    Rafa.

    Kglad,
    I added the trace command to the 1st frame of my FLA, and it shows the "test" message on the output window.

  • Wireless signal acquisition and saving signal in text format simultaneously for 5 mins

    Hi,
    I am acquiring ECG signal wirelessly and displaying it in in waveform chart. And simultaneously i need to save it in Text format for 5 mins. The problem i am facing is that for saving the signal i am using Write to Measurement File which saves the file in text format..... but while saving the plotting speed decreases.
    i am very new to labview.. so plz can any one tell me whether i am missing any thing in it... plz help.....

    Why do people always post pictures of their VIs rather than the VIs themselves or at least Snippets?  We can't tell from the picture what Version of LabVIEW you are using (so if we post code, you might not be able to open it), and we can't "play with" your code and try it out without, ourselves, by hand, trying to recreate it from your (sometimes very tiny) diagram.  Please Help Us to Help You!
    Here's help anyway to get you started with the Producer/Consumer Design Pattern.
    Open LabVIEW.
    Click "File", choose "New ..." (not New VI), and choose (from the templates) Producer/Consumer Design Pattern (Data).
    Study the Template and adapt it to your problem.
    The Producer would be anything that Generates data.  Once you have the data, you put it on the Queue and send it to the Consumer for all the rest of the processing.  The idea is that the Producer has an inherent timing that it has to meet, otherwise you lose data points.  The Consumer, on the other hand, just needs to "more or less" keep up (actually, the Queue can/will expand, so if the amount of data isn't megabytes, the Consumer can really be quite slow, though you usually want the Consumer, on average, to be at least as fast as the Producer).

  • Controlling subtemplate text format (left-center-right justification, font)

    Hello,
    I have several sub templates that we are calling to display different text information and these sub templates are used in multiple format templates (that is the entire idea, right? <g>)
    My problem is in some of my reports I need the text to be center aligned and in some of them I need the text to be left justified, etc...
    I also would like to display the text in different sized fonts as well.
    How can I control my formatting from the driving format template instead of having it inherit the left/center/right justification that is present in my sub templates???
    Thanks in advance for your feedback,
    Scott

    Yes, that is exactly what I think I need to do (override the formatting with commands in the main template).
    I don't know if the possibilities will get that large in my case because for each main format template the formatting will remain constant.
    So I may call a subtemplate from several main format templates but in each main template I will just need to set the alignment and font-size (we use a consistent font type). Perhaps once in awhile I may need to bold something, but that should be about it.
    Please, how is this done exactly? Can you point me toward the XSL command(s) to accomplish this? Or is there something in the plug in I am missing that can accomplish this?
    We have over a dozen reports waiting for this one last tweak now and I am working with the below fo block and in this example it is coming across from the subtemplate LEFT justified (because that is how it is stored in the subtemplate) and we need it to be CENTER justified.
    <fo:table-row>
    <fo:table-cell padding-end="0.0pt" padding-bottom="0.0pt" padding-start="0.0pt" padding-top="0.0pt" vertical-align="top" height="10.8pt" number-columns-spanned="2">
    <fo:block xdofo:xliff-note="ST: azzbillto" padding-bottom="0.0pt" text-align="center" orphans="2" widows="2" padding-top="0.0pt" end-indent="0.0pt" linefeed-treatment="preserve" start-indent="0.0pt" height="0pt">
    <xsl:call-template name="azzcompanyname">
    <xsl:with-param name="azzorg" select="string(.//POH_BILL_TO_LOCATION)"/>
    <xsl:with-param name="_XDOFOPOS" select="$_XDOFOPOS"/>
    <xsl:with-param name="_XDOFOPOS2" select="$_XDOFOPOS2"/>
    <xsl:with-param name="_XDOFOOSTOTAL" select="$_XDOFOOSTOTAL"/>
    <xsl:with-param name="_XDOFOTOTAL" select="$_XDOFOTOTAL"/>
    <xsl:with-param name="_SECTION_NAME" select="$_SECTION_NAME"/>
    </xsl:call-template>
    </fo:block>
    </fo:table-cell>
    </fo:table-row>
    Any ideas??
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • How to provide text formatting options to user from a text field

    Hi,
    My requirement is - in the interactive form, a comments field needs to be provided where user should be able to enter text with formatting options like
    Headers
    indentations
    bold/italic
    bullet points and numbers
    Once user enters the formatted texts in a text field, data needs to be displayed/printed in the same format. Could you help me on how to provide these formatting options to the user for a particular text field?
    I understand that once I define the text field with format XHTML (with RTF), user formatting can be captured and displayed in the same way. But I am not sure on how to provide the formatting options for the text field.
    Thank you,
    Madhu

    Hi,
    if you select a text field for Rich Text and the press Ctrl + E you'll get a bar for all available text formatting options in Acrobat/Reader.

  • How to strip text formatting from text field value ??

    Hi everyone,
    Have tried to get some info on this but no luck.... I've
    created a simple contact form in Flash, but the URL which it's
    generating contains the text formatting from the text input fields.
    As a result the script that processes the mail send doesn't work.
    How do I strip the text formatting out of text1, text2 and text3
    before I use getURL() ??
    on (release) {
    url_var =
    "your_name="+text1+"&your_e-mail="+text2+"&message="+text3;
    getURL("contact.php?"+url_var, "_blank", "GET");
    text1 = "";
    text2 = "";
    text3 = "";
    }

    text1.text = "";
    text2.text = "";
    text3.text = "";
    …that should strip the textfields. You probably also
    want to add this property (text) in the getURL()

  • Problem with text formatting

    I am new to RoboHelp and I am trying to write some more text in an existing project in design view. I use Track Changes and have set the text to be Times New Roman 12pt. When I made a line italic it turned into Arial. I tried to change it to Times once again by selecting the text to format and then choose Format/ Font/ Times New Roman but it won´t change, it is still Arial. Earlier in the text I managed to make a line italic and Times New Roman.
    Anyone who knows what to do?
    (I use RoboHelp 10 with Windows 7 Professional.)

    Thanks for input!
    Yes, I think it was an inline style I made.
    I managed to get the text as I wanted to by deleting it, then I choose a style from the ‘Styles and Formatting’ pod that matched and retyped the text. (To me it seems strange to have to do this. I thought that I could change an inline style by highlighting the text and choose the font I want it to bee from the ‘Formatting’ toolbar.)
    Now I have another (but similar) text formatting problem:
    I copy a text that has style set to Normal. When I insert the text (on a line with style Normal) the font changes from Times New Roman to Arial. The inserted text still has the style Normal. I have in the ‘Styles and Formatting’ pod checked that Normal still has Times New Roman by opening the ‘Styles’ window. (I still have ‘Track Changes’ turned on.)
