  • Problems Aligning Text in Headers and Footers

I have tried to add headers and footers to documents and the  alignment is wrong.  The center footer/header should be center-aligned  and the right header/footer should be right-aligned.  Unfortunately,  they are both left-aligned.
The preview shows the headers and footers aligned correctly, but when  the headers/footers are inserted in the document, the alignment reverts  to left aligned, although it is centered and on the right side of the  page, as appropriate.
This is not a problem in Acrobat 7.
Please advise if this is a bug and is awaiting an update, or if there is  something that I need to do to fix this problem.
This is a screen shot of the preview windowindicating the proper alignment as indicated in the ovals:
Here is the actual document once the header and footer are added.  Notice how the alignment switches to flush left:
    Any guidance is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Nope.  The good folks at Adobe have neither addressed this issue (and I have
heard from others that it is a problem for them as well) nor have they been
very good about maintaining my account to be able to log in and follow up on
    it.
The truth of the matter is that it appears to be a glitch in some, but not
all, versions of this product and clearly it is not a big enough problem for
them to want to fix it.
I wind up using Acrobat 7 when I need properly formatted headers and footers
or ‹ and this ought to get the attention of the folks at Adobe and maybe
prompt someone (anyone!) to take a look and fix this glitch ‹ you should
check out PDFPen.  It does much of what Adobe can do including headers and
    footers.
If I didn't already have Acrobat 7 (and 8 and now 9), I would ditch Acrobat
and just use Preview or PDFPen.

Anybody ever solve this problem? I just started using(trying too, that is)
Acrobat Pro for writing letters and starting at the top I ran right into
this problem. Seems like a deal killer.

  • Conditional Text in  Headers

I am using FrameMaker 7.2 and trying to insert conditional text into page headers. According to FrameMaker Help, the <$condtag> building block should find and apply conditional text in a page header. However, FrameMaker 7.2 seems unable to find the text with the conditional tag ("2nd edition") that I want in the header. FrameMaker IS able to find the "2nd edition" conditional tag when I use the Find/Change utility.
This is the the definition of the page header in my document:
    <$paratext[Head2,Head3]><$condtag[2nd edition,\ ]>
The header that is generated shows a second level or third level heading followed by the text "2nd edition," for example:
    2.1-Storing Files2nd edition
. . . which is NOT what I want. I want the 2.1 text that I've conditionally tagged "2nd edition" to appear in the header, for example:
    2.1-Storing Customer Files
Is the syntax that I've used incorrect or is this problem a software bug?

  • Acrobat Pro 9 added text to headers

Creating a PDF from a Word 2007 file. Acrobat prepended text in one cell of a table in the head. The text added is not in the Word doc anywhere.

    Hi ,
This seems to be an issue specific to the file you are using . Does it happen for any file with tables ?
If possible can you please share the file converting which you encountered such behavior . Please also mention your OS ,version of Acrobat and MSOffice version .
    Thanks,

  • How can I automatically change text in headers?

I am working in a dictionary center. As usual in such fields, we use character style as variables for headers. However, I need to remove certain items from the headers, namely dots (e.g. I want the lemma de-ci-si-on to appear as 'decision'). Is there any script to achieve this?
Alternatively, I tried for another solution:  to automatically find/replace the dots using the character style, but, I see that no search into variables is possible.
Do you think of any solution? I appreciate it much and thank you in advance.

I tried it today, Fred, and it worked perfectly!
Thank you very much for the advice.

  • How can I print a selection of text?

In Mail (in Mavericks).  I would like to print just a paragraph or two that I have selected (highlighted).  How can I print just that selected text and not any other text or headers in that email?  I know I can copy and paste the text into a Text Edit document, but I'm looking for a quicker way to print just that selected text without leaving Mail.

Create an Automator action that gets the selected text and automatically creates the TextEdit document and prints:
To make the Service, create a New Automator workflow and select Service as the type.
Set it to receive selected text in any application.
Drag in a New TextEdit Document action
Drag in a Run Applescript Action.
    Set the applescript to this:
    on run {input, parameters}
              tell application "TextEdit"
      print document of front window
close document of front window without saving
      quit
              end tell
              return input
    end run
Save it as something like Print Selected Text. Then, you can select text, ctrl-click on it, then select Print Selected Text from the Services submenu of the contextual menu.
Here is a picture of the workflow:
You could also give it a shortcut in the Keyboard System prefs, Shortcuts tab:

  • How to Edit Text in Forms

I previously bought an Education version of Acrobat 5.0 and it only allowed me to edit documents about 5 times before the feature was turned off in the software, I guess because it was the education version. Now I bought a Full Version of Acrobat 5.0 after reading an online product review that said version 5 was perfect for most regular PC users who only need to change a form occassionally and are not creating forms that need to be protected or very elaborate etc. etc. Hopefully version 5 can do some of what I need to do but so far no luck.
When I scan a document into my computer and create a PDF file in version 5 now I am unable to make simple editing changes in text within any parts of the document. I don't create anything very fancy and only really bought this older version so I could make a couple changes to text and Headers of old forms I use in my everyday business but since I changed companies I would like my new company logo on the forms and be able to edit some of the text in different parts of the form. I checked the security settings after scanning a form in and it says everything is allowed, printing, form field fill in, editing etc. ..... what I am not doing correctly???

A Scan is nothing more than an image of a page of text and images. You will have to OCR, Optical Charater Recognition, to access the text contained within the image.

  • HT4641 How do I rotate objects and text ?

I do not know how to rotate my document too change to landscape .  Want 11.5 x 8 . Thanks, Bill

You don't rotate the document on an iPad; you can rotate the objects on the document.
That said, you can't rotate in-line text and headers and footers, only text boxes and images/shapes.
To rotate the document, you will need to export it to a Mac and change the orientation there in Page Setup. The iPad document setup is lacking this feature.
    Sorry.

  • Setting mime headers for MessageFactory.createMessage(...)

    Hi-,
I am trying to read the attached SOAP1.1 w/ attc. message from a plain file with a piece of simple Java code. The 'MessageFactory.createMessage(MimeHeaders headers, java.io.InputStream in)' is not very informative as to what goes in for headers, so I tried all of the below commented headers - no luck, only exceptions. Any explanation as to what I am doing wrong? I am using JWSDP1.5 with J2SE5.0.

  • Generating email from text

    Hi.
I have an email represented by a text (with headers, subject, attachement and so on). I would likt to generate a javax.mail.Message from it, so I can extract the headers and attachments more easily.
I tried to set up a fake Session and a MimeMessage and fill it using a FileDataSource by reading the text from a File, but it didnt work well.
Anyone know any examples or libraries that could help me here?
    Thanks
    -r

I found a solution to it. Thought I should post it here, in case someone else have the same problem. It worked making a fake Message, I just invoked some methods that didn't do anything, so I thought it had all gone wrong.
Imagine your email is stored in a String email :
    InputStream in = new ByteArrayInputStream(email.getBytes());
MimeMessage mm = new MimeMessage(null, in);We have our message. Way easy...

  • Database to text/ascii conversion

Please excuse if this is the wrong forum. I need to convert an Oracle db to a text file. Preservation of the exact format of the db is not critical, although desireable, but the entire contents of the db in text format (headers aside) is. Is there a filter or migration utility that will easily do this? Conversion to html or xml would be acceptable. Thank you in advance.

This is not the right forum, and the question really doesn't make sense. There's no simple mapping between a relational database and a flat text file.
You can generate XML from an individual table of the database - see the XML developers kit for more details.

  • Space under my headers using CSS

I'm formatting the text on a website. I have a list of text
of headers and subheaders. I have a hard return after the headers,
and a soft return between the subheads. The problem is I don't want
    the space after the header.
My question is: how do I get rid of the large hard return
    space after my header?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brad

You need to redefine the bottom margin on the H4 in that
    case.
As long as you don't have an empty <p></p> tags
after the header or a line
    break <br>
    css:
    h4 { margin-bottom: 6px;}
    Changing the pxs to suit.

  • Conditional text & graphic

Using FM 9.0 p250, I have an anchored frame on a master page which I've made conditional.  It's got some text and a graphic in it.  When I'm viewing the master page, I can show or hide it just fine.  But when I move it over to the "show" side, it shows on my master page, but not on my body page.  What am I doing wrong?

You can create two kinds of text frames on body pages, master pages, and in anchored frames.
    * A "tagged" text frame displays "Flow: A" or some other letter in the tag information area at the left end of the document page's status bar that's at the bottom of the page, when you click a text insertion pointer in it.
    * An "untagged" text frame does not display a flow name.
    * On a body page, text frames can be placed on the page, or inside other frames. When either kind of text frame is pasted from the clipboard with an insertion point in a text frame, an anchored frame is created, and the pasted frame appears inside the anchored frame. On body pages, both kinds of text frames act as you'd expect - text in them appears in them, is editable, and can be shown/hidden by manipulating conditions.
    * On a master page, things are very different:
    - A tagged text frame (Flow: A, etc.) is considered to be a template (model) that creates a duplicate text frame - same size, same location, same color, etc. - on the body page that's controlled by that master page. This us the usual way that the "live typing areas" are created on FrameMaker body pages - a template text frame on a master page controls it.
    - Tagged text frames on master pages are templates for body pages; they do not display their content on body pages; they only create a same-size frame in the same position on the body page. (Try it and repeat this mantra until you get it.)
    - Untagged text frames on master pages are not editable on body pages; they are backgrounds that appear on the body pages controlled by the master page. (Try it and repeat until it sinks in.)
Your master page text frame is probably a template (Flow: A) text frame; it appears on the body page with a live typing area, but it does not display its content - text, table, anchored frame, etc. This property makes it easy to store documentation in the master page template text frame so it's always carried with the document; however, it's not helpful to users who don't know how to display master pages. The condition setting show/hide makes no difference in this situation; the conditionalized text in the tagged master page text frame doesn't appear on the body page controlled by the master.
One other possibility is that you created the frame on a master page that's not used on the body page(s) you're viewing. For example, the master page text frame may be on the Left master page of a double-sided document, and you've only got one body page so far, page 1, which by default uses the Right master page.
When you create a text frame on a master page, FrameMaker displays an alert that asks you to choose whether the new frame should be background - they show on the body pages and are typically used for headers and footers, etc. - or template, and if template, you can specify a Flow label like "A" or "ChapterOpener," to identify it. You can also specify Autoconnect, the property that causes new pages to be created when you type past the end of an autoconnected tagged frame on body pages.
Read more about master pages, tagged text frames, background text frames, template text frames, headers and footers, flow tags, and autoconnect in Help, and in Google searches that include FrameMaker in the term.

  • Financial Reporting Studio - unable to suppress a header (text row)

I've created a Profit and Loss Statement, and was having trouble suppressing both text rows (headers) and formula rows for a section (Supervised and Assisted Living) that doesn't have data for every community.  I've finally figured out the formula rows, I had to set it up to suppress if all the rows that went into that particular formula row were suppressed.  But the header keeps showing up.  I tried suppressing it if the total for that section was zero or missing, I tried suppressing it if all the rows in that section were suppressed, I tried suppressing it if the total row for that section was depressed, I even tried conditional formatting that header's cell to white font for all the above conditions.  Nothing works.  Does anyone have any insight for me?  It's not the end of the world if this section header is displayed, but it would be much cleaner.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I have written a "Gross-to-Net" Report, by product (with the product as the page dimension). The product hierarchy is in excess of 2k. I need to suppress pages where product has no data. I created a "hash total" of all lines as the check - not sure if it is ultimately useful.
In another version, I moved the product to the POV and put it in a Book - selecting "Base of Products" in the Book parameters.
In each case, the output was over 2k pages and would cause acrobat to crash.
I need a way to suppress pages where there is no data - what is the best methodology?
