Text in subpicture highlight

I'm trying to do the simplest thing. Having a text in button subpicture highlight, so that once the button is highlighted a text appears below.
Ok, it work, but the text is really ugly. Read on the forum that it's because of the lack of anti-alias and that the subpicures can only handle unicolors.
STILL, IS THERE NO WAY OF DOING THIS WITHOUT HAVING THE TEXT APPEARING LOOKING LIKE HELL?
I've already read tons of threads about how you should choose sans seriff fonts and which colors to use etc. but nothing seems to work for me. It always looks ugly!

With regards to Sub-picture Highlights, this info will not apply. However, with text in other aspects of one's Menu, it will.
It is a limitation in the DVD-specs.

Subpicture Highlight shifts position on button when a shadow is applied in PS.

Hi all,
I created a menu in PS CS4 with text (some with drop shadows) that i assigned as buttons in Encore CS4. When i converted the text into buttons, I discovered that the ones with drop shadows caused the subpicture highlight to shift position up and to the right of the button.
Can someone verify this?

I'm not sure why you are having troubles with your converted to DV-AVI files. I get handed MPEG-2 material in several delivery schemes, and just do the conversion with DigitalMedia Converter, before I Import into PrPro. I seldom have any issues with these. The only issue is that with a very few, PrPro does not see the proper Duration. I have found that with these, I just open them in PrElements (they always show correct Duration), and then just do an Export as DV-AVI Type II (same exact format/CODEC and settings as what I Imported), and these "processed" files work 100% in PrPro. I've never been able to find any difference between the DMC converted DV-AVI's, and those run through PrE, but there has to be something different.
As for the quality, you have to remember that the source footage was first compressed to MPEG-2, and to get it onto DVD, you'll be recompressing it again. Now, for light editing, there are NLE programs that do "smart rendering," where the Exported MPEG-2 will NOT be re-compressed, except for the exact areas that were changed. PrPro does not have smart rendering.
Exporting to DV-AVI Type II, and Importing those into Encore, will give you quality as good as it will get. You CAN Export as MPEG-2 (DVD-compliant) from PrPro and can adjust your bit-rate (controls quality), but you are likely to not do better than Encore will on Automatic.
Working from perviously compressed material will never yield results as good as going back to the original camera footage. Those compressions/re-compressions destroy quality.

PS - globally replacing Assets in PrPro is not really possible. Unless CS4.2 (coming soon) has a new feature in the Project Panel, I only know of one way - Offline Media, the Link Media. As there are no Actions, or Scripting in PrPro, like in Photoshop, it's a manual, and often tedious process.

OSX update 10.10.2 causes mouse to jump around and text to be highlighted randomly in Dreamweaver CC. When trying to click on a specific line of code in a js file the cursor ends up in a different place in the script and several lines of code highlighted. Clicking again jumps the mouse to a different position and even more lines of code highlighted and some characters rearranged, breaking the lines of code. Very frustrating.

I am having the same issue. I have a MBP connected to 2 x Dell 27" monitors over Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables. Once I updated to OS X 10.10.2 this cursor highlight/jumping around issue only occurs on the connected monitors. If I move the program to the main laptop display the issue goes away. It does not require me to restart the program or the machine to make it work correctly. One way I am able to identify the issue is if I go to the line numbers in code like I wanted to select multiple lines - in the one that works correctly, the cursor turns into a white version where the tip of the cursor points to the right. When it is wrong, the cursor stays black and will only have the tip point to the left. Its just another way I identified if it was working cause I tried uninstalling DW and reinstalling - didn't work. Reset preferences as you discussed - no go. And I used other editors like IntelliJ and Adobe Edge Code - all of which work fine and don't display this issue.
I tried the preferences reset you suggest and it doesn't work. I have another machine with OS X 10.10.1 on it and this issue is not there on any monitor. Any help with this ASAP as it pretty much stops you from being able to do any editing especially with longer pages as it consistently wants to page up when you select anything and if you then click again in another area it tries to move the highlighted code to that new spot.
Update: I have a USB Microsoft Arch touch mouse connected (always worked just fine). When I go to place my cursor at some point in the code it causes the highlight flicker. If I switch over and use the built in trackpad, then I can place the cursor without the highlight issue. When trying to select multiple lines or sections of code, that still see's the highlight, page up and move of code issues regardless of input type.

Help with subpicture highlights on looping motion menus

I created a motion menu in After Effects. The menu is 11 seconds long. I set a loop point at 5;18. When I preview in Encore, the loop is great and everything looks fine. However, when I burn the disc and play it in a computer, DVD player or PS3, the subpicture highlight disappears at the loop point for a second and then reappears. It is driving me crazy. Is this something that is normal, or did I do something wrong in creating the menu?

the trouble you're describing is an usual bug for bluray projects, in this way: "no lights at the end of the tunnel".
About DVD things change: I've never experienced this one.
This may have several answers: from a bad (corrupted) disc (in this way I can suggest Verbatim) to a menu construction problem (bitrate for example........).
Have you tried to create a DVD folder, then test it with a sw player like Power DVD (version 10 is good for DVD, no more than the 8th if you wanna test a BD folder).

Select tool covers text instead of highlighting it

Hi. I am using Acrobat 9 Pro version 9.2.0 on Windows XP Pro. Sometimes the select tool covers over the text instead of highlighting it. Why does it do this and how can I get it to stop doing it?

Funny how you'd think that would work and it does - sort of. What happens is that, yes the highlighting is less,
but the text becomes all "fuzzy" and unclear. It's as if the you're looking through a piece of transparent but sand blasted glass. You can see through it but the text is out of focus.
And it only does it on some files and not others.

Another netbook is not a desktop computer.
Have you transferred your iTunes library from the backup for the laptop that died along with all other important data to the new computer such as documents, photos, etc.?
If not, all iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased as the first step when syncing the iPhone with iTunes on a new or different computer.
Have you launched iTunes on the new computer?
Is you iPhone avaialble under Devices in the iTunes source list on the new computer?

Simple Question: How to make a text subpicture highlight not appear by default?

I'm sure I am missing some very easy one-button solution here, but here goes...
I have a menu with just one single button on it. I have the 'Create Text Subpicture' box checked in the button properties panel. What I want is for the highlight to appear only when I roll over the button. But when I preview the menu, the button highlight is on automatically. It functions just fine. I just need to solve this one little highlight issue.
Is it as easy as I am thinking it is?

Changing the text subpicture highlight color?

I am using the 'Create Text Subpicture' feature to highlight the text buttons on my menus. I get a yellow highlight when I do that, and it works fine, but is there a way to change that highlight color?

Here's the link to the "Punching a Hole in a Sub-picture Highlight" ARTICLE. Note, you will have to scroll down, as I originally linked to an article in this forum. With the forum changeover, it was lost, and that old link is now dead. I added the article to this one, but it's not until you get down-thread a bit. There is also some tips on getting what "appears" to be a glow. It's not really, as you cannot have Effects, or similar, in the 2-bit Sub-picture Highlight, but is actually two Highlights, where the lower one is a bit bigger, but with lowered Transparency, and the upper one is smaller and has less Transparency. It's just an illusion.

PDF Portfolio on IPAD-text to be highlighted

how can I highlight text in a PDF document that is part of a PDF portfolio on an ipad. the tool is whited out?

Currently Adobe Reader on iOS does not allow annotations on documents that are part of a Portfolio, though this is something we would consider supporting in a future release.
One way out is to extract the PDFs within the Portfolio (using Adobe Acrobat, for example) and individually editing them in Adobe Reader on iOS.

Can you convert a pdf that won't allow text to be highlighted so you can do highlighting?

I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard. My monthly bank statement comes as a pdf. I would like to be able to highlight parts of it such as check and deposit amounts but, although the highlighting toolbar is available, when I select a tool such as the cross-out text tool and try to highlight an item, nothing happens. Is there a way to convert this apparently uneditable type of pdf to one that will allow highlighting?

You need an app that will perform that function. There are many apps that will do this, the most powerful being Adobe's Acrobat Pro, it's not inexpensive however that is what it is designed to do. If you want to just do some light annotations Preview (which you already have) will do this, however if you want to edit every aspect Acrobat Pro is tough to beat.
I would recommend using the Mac App store to begin shopping, you will probably find some middle ground app that will do what you need.

Text find and Highlight

I have a textbox that I am loading text from instructionsArray that gets data from a XML file. I want to search that textbox for a word that might be in the dictionaryArray that gets data from and XML file. Then I want the word if its there to be higlighted in red and be able to rollover or click the word to get a popup that shows the words definition that is also in the dictionaryArray. SO the code for all of this as I have it so far builds a rectangle backgournd and addes the textbox to it. The MA is a variable that tells what set of instuctions it is on (1, 2, etc). Everything works except the search and highlight. Is this better?

This class creates roll overs and tooltips for the search term.
A lot of this code is based on what we discussed before - nothing really new.
Just place this class in to FLA directory and make this class a Document Class in Flash IDE. I don't like Flash IDE and coding on the timeline - so it is up to you to translate it into timeline code. Some aspects are commented in the code.

(Newbie) Making Text Links that highlight like the Titles on this forum

I would like to make links that are text and highlight with a
rollover, that will change states or go to a URL. How is that done?

I would try the LinkButton and set the rollOverColor style to
be the same as the background behind the LinkButton, set the
selectionColor to be the same as the background, too. Then the
textRollOverColor and textSelectedColor will be the styles you will
want to color.

How do I unhighlight text I just highlighted?

I highlighted multiple lines of text within a document I'm creating. However, I need to unhighlight some of the text I highlighted. How do I accomplish this?

Once you have text is highlighted in appears in the comments list. Select the comment in correspond to the highlighted text and press "Delete". This would also delete the highlighted area of the text.

Found Text No Longer Highlighted after Latest Acrobat 9 Update

Since installing the latest Acrobat update (to version 9.4.5) whenever I do Edit, Find or Ctrl+F and search for text Acrobat goes to the page with the text I'm looking for, but the text is no longer highlighted with blue highlighting. Since there's nothing about this in the help, I guess the problem may be local to my computer. Can you suggest how I can get the highlighting back (without upgrading to Acrobat X)?
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Should I do a reinstall? If I do a reinstall, are there any special issues?
