Text into shape
Is there an app that I would be able to use to convert text into a shape? Trying to make an autism tattoo that is the shape of a puzzle but would like words to be printed in the shape.

You could try experimenting with type on a path. In the Inspector, under the Layout Tab, Layout Method>Path. Under Path Shape>Geometry. Create a Shape that your type can flow along into the cup, and put that in the Shape Source well. Animate the Path Offset to make the type move along the path. Perhaps a series of these will do the trick.

Can not Group text and shape/object
I have previously made frequent use of grouping text and objects or images together. But in Keynote 4.0.2 this is not possible (for me at least). I am able to lock multiple images, but the group, mask and alpha buttons are not active when selecting a combination of the two (text and objects). Images or objects can be grouped together. Is this a bug or what ?
Open a NEW presentation (it should default to the Title and Subtitle slide of the theme)
Type some text into the Title
Insert a shape (square)
Select the shape and the Title
You should see that you cannot group anything with either the Title or Subtitle object of a slide. If you want to group text to an object, you have to create a new text object. Would this describe your inability to group (ie. limited to when you have Title/Subtitle selected?) -

What did you mean named table? Did you mean the name of shape?
If I understood correctly, we can use table object to manipulate a table shape on a slide. And here is a sample to insert text into the first cell for your reference:
Application.ActivePresentation.Slides(3).Shapes("ClientInfo").Table.Cell(1, 1).Shape.TextFrame.TextRange.Text = "Hello"

hope can explain my problem.OK, we might be getting there. I'm guessing you want to remove the outline of a Type layer from rectangular Shape. Is that right?
Create your rectangular shape.
Create your Type layer
Align the two layers.
Convert the Type layer into a Shape layer.
You'll have something like this:
Select the two Shape layers and merge them (Ctrl e or Cmd e)
Which will give you a single shape layer but this in the paths panel
Use the Direct Selection tool (white arrow) to drag across and select the type oultine
Now select the Pen tool, and in the Options bar click on Path Operations drop down, and select 'Subtract front shape'
Which should leave you this (Note I have turn off the background layer for the sake of clarity)
I sure hope that is what you are after, because it took me twenty minutes to produce the above illustrations. -

If you want to insert text into freeform shape, there are two methods:
1. Insert a textbox on the freeform shape, edit text in the textbox.
2. Select the freeform shape, and right-click > Add text.

Using PSE 4.0, is there a way to type text into a captions "balloon"?

I don't know how you can draw a shape with the Shape tool without its being placed on a new layer. Unless your version of PSE gives this option. I have PSE2 and it always creates a new layer. Can you make a snapshot of your image and layers palette, similar to what I did in my example? You can upload it to www.pixentral.com (a free service). I will be out of town the next 4 days so maybe someone else can help you on this.

Speech balloons can be found under the Custom Shape tool. When you activate this tool a drop-down list appears in the toolbar, showing the default set of shapes. There is a speech balloon in this set. However if you click the right arrow another drop-down list come up and within this are 2 sets named Speech Balloons and Talk Bubbles from which you can select a shape. This is for PSE2, so things might be somewhat different in PSE6.

First make the text then apply envelope. The text will not
remain editable but converted into paths.

The Web-Based Email plugin has crashed. I get this message when trying to paste simple text into an email document. I have updated plugins and have run out of options. If I use another browser I have no problem. Please advise.

Compiling from command line I found out that the class definition for oracle.oats.scripting.modules.basic.api.IteratingVUserScript is missing. Do you know what .jar file contains this class?

When I convert my pdf doc to word, the fonts go really weird and it also puts some text into boxes. when I try to select the text and change the font, it does not change it properly? This is making it impossible to amend.

If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)

Safari quits or freezes when I input text into a login field
Hello Everyone,
Heres the problem: Whenever I input text into some login fields (on pages I have been using for a long time w/ no previous problems), the app usually freezes, sometimes it quits. I have scoured the forums for people with the same problem, and have tried everything (reset safari, delete the ~library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist file, I have followed the advice of an Apple article for determining the problem file, I have tried fixing keychain, I have repaired disk permissions, I have deleted & reinstalled Safari, all to no avail. Safari does work when I log in as administrator.

Import Russian text into FM 7.1, please advice
Dear professionals
From our Russian agent I received some MS-Word documents in the Russian language.
I wanted to import the Cyrillic text / characters into Framemaker documents to make a structured book.
But copying and pasting makes Frame only show question marks.
Selecting an other font did not show anything else.
What is the simpelest way of making Frame "eat" the Cyrillic MS-Word text and make a proper structured document.
I read already things about "font mappings", but haven't the faintest "clou" about how to do such a thing.
Al this on a Win-XP system and Frame version 7.1p116.
Font Arial CYR and others available in the Paragraph Designer.
Your advice will be appreciated.

You have to transform the text into the Cyrillic codepage. Codepage is a term describing a set of max. 256 characters (encodable with a single byte). With Western Windows we use the codepage 1252, for Cyrillic text codepage 1251 is necessary.
Without rebooting etc. you may want to proceed like this:
* Open the document with Word
* File > Save as Text (there might be two options, we need the option which allows to set the encoding)
* Select "Windows (Russian)" or something with "1251" from the encoding popup menu. If the document contains any characters that do not fit into this encoding, it will tell you.
* Save as txt file.
Now you can import this file into FrameMaker, if asked for an encoding, use Windows — FrameMaker 7.x does not know anything about Cyrillic etc., only when you apply a font like Arial CYR (which is a codepage subset of Arial) the correct glyphs will appear.

How do I use Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 Live View to copy complex formatted text into web page?
Since Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid Layouts, and could be removed completely in next upgrade, I cannot use Live View to place complex text into my web pages.
Our business requires the listing of complex job descriptions on our web pages. Design View worked fine, Live View does not. Both examples are noted below.

Obviously, as seen above, I'm doing something wrong or Live View does not do all the functions that Design View use to do. I realize I can still access Design View in non-Fluid Grid Layout documents and that is my current work-around. I copy from my Word file into Design View available in non-Fluid, then copy that code into my Fluid Grid Layout document, not real efficient use of my time. And, even that work-around may not be available after the next upgrade.Hans thank you for your reply and attention to this matter. Moreover, with your steeped expertise I do not, in any fashion, intend to be flippant or capricious.
However, I do not believe the reply is on point since I'm not discussing the insertion of an HTML tag/element; but rather, the placing of complex formatted text into my various web pages.
Design View and 2014.1 Live View seem to serve different functions. That is, Design View, for us, serves as a highly sophisticated HTML5 code generator that allows us to properly display complex formatted text that originally is created as a Word docx file. As I noted in my original post, the complex formatted text from the Word file is then pasted into Design View and thus properly renders on the web page. I invite you to try this yourself. Simply copy my properly formatted text in my original post (that can be found at "Using Design View the web page rendered this way:") to a Word file, and it will retain the complex formatting, then copy that Word file text to both Design View and 2014.1 Live View files. Please apprise me of your results.
Discussion has been had in at least two separate threads on the Design View disappearance in Fluid Grid. In https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597260 staff member Lalita wrote "It would be helpful for us if you list the issues you are seeing with fluid grid live view editing." And in https://forums.adobe.com/message/6807088#6807088 staff member Subhadeep wrote "If you can list down the workflows you are trying while editing in Live View & the issues you are facing in doing so, it will help us understand what is amiss & suggest alternative workflows to do the same." I believe I've pointed out issues when attempting to use Live View for functions or work flow that customarily had been done in Design View.
Being a CC subscriber, if someone can provide me with a workflow using other additional Adobe products to get my complex formatted text from Word ultimately to my Dreamweaver web page, be it an image insert or whatever, I would take the suggestions.

It is readily apparent that Design View is a much needed code generator in the Dreamweaver product. Live View serves completely other, and needed, purposes. Therefore, I still, after all the forum discussions, do not understand why Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid.
Again Hans thank you for your reply. But unless I'm missing something, citation to the links you provided does not solve my problem. And that problem is this: If Design View is on its way out and thus will be completely removed from Dreamweaver at some point, then how do I provide my information (i.e. complex executive job descriptions) on my website?
Apparently a vote is taking place https://forums.adobe.com/ideas/3922 on the issue of placing Design View back into Fluid Grid. I do not understand why the need for two rather disjunctive functionalities are at the mercy of the democratic process. These are matters of engineering principles not "town hall gatherings". -
Can you enter text into "info" pop-up window for TV Shows?
It's not a big deal, but I was just wondering if there is a way (a script perhaps) of entering text into the little "info" pop-up window for TV Shows in iTunes? (You know the one...it pops-up when you click on the little "i" in the description box on the TV Shows main playlist)
The show files I made myself have blank info windows of course and it would be nice to be able to enter a decent length description of the episode (the character limit in the "Description" box is so short).
Like I said, it's not a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to enter info in there...so if anybody knows how...please let me know.

Is there a way to stop iCal moving address info from event text into 'location'??
Hi, I've just come back to the forum after a long time away, so sorry if this has already been covered, but...
When I create a new event in iCal and type in text which includes an address, the address segnment is automatically moved into 'location'. I find this infuriating as for work reasons I later need to copy and paste all the event text into another app, and the address is now in a different place! As an additional irritation, iCal also screws with the address text and switches the postal code into upper and lower case, so I have to re-type part of it when I move it back into the main event text. Any way to stop this happening? Thanks!as far as i understand iCal it is on the "receivers/subscribers" side to deal with email-updates (and not on the "senders/changers" side):
