Text invisible when typing in online web forms

Just recently when typing into text fields on web forms, my text is invisible. For example, I had a little trouble registering for this help service as I could not see what I was typing. The cursor is visible and moving, but no text is visible. This does not happen on my other browsers and didn't happen in Firefox until very recently. I notice however that this form I am currently typing in is ok; I guess it has different coding behind it.
Another problem that started around the same time - when I go back to previous page, it doesn't go back to last position but puts me back at the top of the page. Don't know if this is related.

This is more likely a font problem (missing or corrupted) then an encoding issue.
Try to disable the website fonts as a test and try a few different default (serif/sans-serif) fonts.<br />
Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced ([ ] Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above)<br />
If that works then you need to reinstall the corrupted font.

    There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?

    I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
    As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • InDesign CC on OSX 10.9 text missing when typing fast

    When typing at my usual pace InDesign will lag and miss three/four letters of what I typed and when I go back through I find a multitude of errors in my text. Any ideas?

    Type slower??
    This happens to me too occasionally. Have not been able to figure out why. If I noticed the cursor lagging I just wait a few secs and then it usually catches up before I've made any major errors. I do check each paragraph as I go, though...just because of this lag.

  • Lost Page on when you should use MVC vs when you should use web forms

    I read a page last week.  I think it was on MSDN.  It was talking about the relative merits of MVC and web forms.  However, unlike the page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd381412.aspx,
    which merely states the advantages and disadvantages of each format, this page went on to state something like:
    You should use MVC:
    when building web apps that do this
    when you web app needs that
    when you are doing the other
    You should use web forms:
    when building these other kinds of web app
    when your web app does this other thing
    when your web app does this.
    Does anyone know the page to which I am referring?
    (Oh and since when did it become impossible to paste anything into a question or reply block in MSDN forums.  This makes it very difficult to paste in page links.)
    Also I am not seeing an appropiate forum in my forums dropdown list.  So if a moderator wants to move it to the right forum I would appreciate it.

    @Darnie Graceline Selvamary Thangalazar
    The first link is not what I was looking for as it tells the difference between MVC and Web Forms but not which is better for what.
    The second link does get more into which is better in certain situations but doesn't really analyze each type of project and specify that this is good for web forms and this is good for MVC.  However, it does provide some ways to analyze if your
    "situation" would be best served by using web forms and which would be best served by using MVC.
    It specified that if reaction time is an issue then MVC is the answer.  This is good because with our excruciatingly slow network we need apps that take inherantly as little time as possible to load.
    I took another look at the link provided by gaurav.  Turns out that link has a link to an article by Dino Espisito which actually has the statement that I referred to above i.e. if your app has a lot of busines data.  After two years, that
    is as much as I remember of that page.  So in fact indirectly gaurav found the page I was looking for.
    Too bad I did not re-read this link when I started the current project, though.  One thing each of them says is that if your team (in this case me) has not had much experience in handling html elements directly then MVC is not a good fix for them.
    For the last 6 months theis has been a major learning process in using JQuery, AJAX, and MVC to accomplish tasks which I've could have done using server controls and web forms with my eyes closed.  Too bad they don't make MVC so that you can use server
    controls with it.
    However since this thread is so old and unlike "Whose Line is it Anyway?" the points
    do matter. I am going to award the answer to gaurav.  Thanks everyone for providing some very interesting links on MVC.

  • Auto orientation only in landscape modes, text centering when typing

    Hi,
    I have two problems:
    1. I don't want to rotate my app when device is in portrait position, only flip it horizontal when it is rotated to another landscape position
    2. Text is not centered when typing into input textfield with centered text (but it is ok after confirming).
    Any help would be very appreciated!
    Thanks!

    I've had to solve this problem (#1), and there are many aspects and difficulties to it. I wrote up a long email about the problem, which I'll paste here. Hope you can follow along!:
    I’ve wanted to do autorotate landscape only, and thought that I only had the choice of either autorotate to all four orientations, or no autorotate at all, but I just looked into it, and through reading three different topics here, I managed to do achieve everything I wanted. So I’ll write it up here in case someone else doesn’t have as much luck searching through the old messages.
    In my particular case I have two reasons to want to be landscape: 1. The design is a landscape one, and not one that can easily be rearranged into a portrait mode. 2. We have gameplay that involves tilting the device, and although it’s fine tuned to work in a narrow range of tilting, people keep on tilting so much that the portrait mode kicks in. With the right kind of game, you could really lose your marbles when that happens!
    Those problems can be solved by not autorotating, and finding a way to force landscape. But then that runs into another issue. If it worked that way, an iPad version would be rejected by Apple.
    There are several problems to solve (which I think also apply to Android):
    Autorotate without allowing normal or upside down portrait.
    Make it be landscape from the start even if the user is holding it in portrait as they open the app (setting that in publishing doesn’t achieve the goal).
    Allow someone to change their mind about which landscape they want to use.
    Here’s the way to solve the first issue:
    stage.addEventListener(StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGING, orientationChangeListener);
    function orientationChangeListener(e:StageOrientationEvent) {
    if (e.afterOrientation=="default"||e.afterOrientation=="upsideDown") {
    e.preventDefault();
    Once you’re in normal landscape, you can only be in normal landscape or upside down landscape. The Portraits are prevented from happening, because StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGING happens before the autorotate kicks in.
    Making it be landscape from the start can be done like this:
    stage.setOrientation(StageOrientation.ROTATED_RIGHT);
    but that would only work well for the majority. People who like to hold the device in the upside down landscape would be frustrated. So that can be taken care of by looking at which way the device is at the time the app is opened. Also, as it may initially be in Portrait (because the user doesn’t yet know that your app is landscape designed), you have to decide with landscape to give them. I reason that giving them the normal landscape would be the safer bet. That all comes out as these lines:
    var startOrientation:String=stage.orientation;
    if (startOrientation=="default"||startOrientation=="upsideDown") {
    stage.setOrientation(StageOrientation.ROTATED_RIGHT);
    } else {
    stage.setOrientation(startOrientation);
    That’s nearly all the problems solved, but there’s one last one, which I’ll log a bug about (once there is an iPhone beta again). If you open the app in rotatedright and then change your mind to want to use it as rotatedleft, the autorotate works wonderfully. Unfortunately, if you start in rotatedleft and then want to use rotatedright, the autorotate does not work, no matter how many contortions you do. You have to quit the app and hold it in portrait or rotateright from the start.
    This turns out to be easily worked around, by doing the counterintuitive step of setting Portrait in publishing settings. Then when you tell it to be one of the landscapes by doing stage.setOrientation, the app can tell that going from rotatedleft to rotateright is a change of rotation, because it already got kick started with a change away from the default setting of Portrait.

  • Have you tried another way to recieve payments via the online web form besides PayPal?

    I am trying to provide the option to transfer payment to the organizations account via the the web form. I heard about Chase Quickpay and wondered if I could use the banks option instead of PAYPAL. This will deposit the funds directly into the bank account. Any thoughts? What about your experiences with Paypal, good or bad?

    Hi,

  • When typing in a fillable form, when I enter text on one line it automatically enters it on a previous line. How do I fix this?

    THANK YOU try67===that fixed it...

  • Where/How do I copy the link to the online web form?

    Hi there,
    I am a total beginner with FormsCentral. Here is my situation:
    I have registered for a trial which, in theory, grants 1 online form.
    I have imported a PDF template into FormsCentral's desktop tool. Then I have saved the new form. As a result, the form now appears in the list with a "cloud" symbol. Also I can see that my "online form credit" is now down to zero.
    I'd be grateful for any guidance on how to find/copy the online form's URL, or navigate to it.
    Success with this seemingly simple step will determine whether I ugrade to the next Plan (and whether I encourage colleagues in a 1000+ employee organization to also use FormsCentral).
    Many thanks,
    Eric

    In other words: Is is possible to import a fillable PDF document into FormsCentral, and publish it as an online form (the same way as for a form designed afresh from FormsCentral desktop tool)?

  • Trigger events when user closes a Web Form?

    Hi. Is there a way to fire code (a trigger perhaps?) when a user unexpectedly closes the entire browser window by clicking on the X in the upper, right corner of the browser?
    Or, is there a way to prevent the user from being able to close the browser window by clicking on the X?
    Any help would be great. Thanks.

    The concepts behind a running form tend to be a mystery for some. However, there is no reason to believe that any Oracle magic occurs when running an Oracle Forms application. On the client side, the running for is a standard java applet. Like any applet running in a browser, the browser uses a plug-in (the JRE in this case) to support the content (the applet). The browser creates a container on the page where the JRE can present its content or host the applet, based on the underlying html. Once the applet starts, it will be displayed in this container space on the page within the browser window. In the case of Oracle Forms, we decided it would be nice to offer an option where the form could be exposed outside of this browser space and float freely.
    So the answer to your question regarding what the "window" is called, well the browser is the "browser" and the floating window is actually a java frame which can be created in any applet. Again, no Oracle magic here. ;)
    Generally, separateFrame=true is used when more real-estate is needed or when you simply do not want to see the browser controls. That said, I often recommend against using separateFrame=true for a variety of reasons. One of the most common reasons is that if the browser window which is hosting the form is closed or if the browser navigates from the current page, the running form will terminate. Because the browser, in this case, is not doing anything obvious, end-users can easily make the mistake of thinking it is ok to navigate to a webpage using the currently shown blank page. This will cause the form to close.
    If you don't mind having the browser controls visible then using separateFrame=false is probably a better way to go. This would also allow you to use the note I mentioned in order to detect attempts to close the browser, assuming you are using Forms 10.1.2.3 or newer and JRE 1.6. To detect the closing of the "separateFrame" you likely would need to create a java bean, which may become a little more complicated than what can be described here. But remember what I mentioned above, if you use separateFrame=true and the hosting browser is closed, the form will also close. So in this case, you would have to code to detect both the applet frame closing as well as the browser window.
    There are a variety of ways in which some of the browser controls can be hidden using java script, so this can offer some help if using separateFrame=false. So this is yet another option.

  • Text lags when typing in discussion forums

    While typing an entry in a discussion forum, in this case ''topix.net'', the displayed text will lag far behind the typing. Every so often it will "burp" = the display will refresh, the cursor will jump to catch up, and will leave out anything typed in the interim, causing one to have to go back and insert corrections.
    I can do the same task in IE, and there is no lag, so it is obvioulsy a FF issue. I'm "guessing" it has something to do with the spellcheck function? If I could turn that off, I could confirm.

    The two major causes of this are moving the frame over or next to an object to which text wrap is applied, or specifying that the text should align to the baseline grid and there is no grid line within the bounds of the frame (the frame is not tall enough to span the baseline grid).

  • Web Form - Text

    Hi,
    In my workforce plan type I have an account member set as data type text. In the web form you can type anything to that member and it will store as a number in essbase which is great. In the other plan type for the same application, I just created another member as data type text, but when I try to type text into that member in the web form I am getting an error - invalid value. I can enter numbers just fine, but letters give an error.
    The two members have the exact same properties, but one is in workforce and the other is in plan 1, that's the only difference. Anyone know why I can't enter letters into a member with data type text? Is there another setting on the web form that needs to be set?
    Thanks,
    dq

    Hi,
    I am not sure where you are going wrong because I can't replicate the issue, maybe it is around the evaluation orde as you need to set it for all the plan types you use.
    I created a new account member against plan1 with a data type of text
    I created another account member against workforce with a data type of text.
    Set the evaluation order for account against plan1
    Set the evaluation order for account against workforce
    Created a form against plan1 and included the plan1 text account member
    Creared a form against workforce and included the workforce text account member.
    Both forms I could enter text against.
    Cheers

  • Position cursor in text field when form is opened

    Another newbee question I'm afraid!
    I want to position the cursor in a text field when a user opens the form. I can't find a way to do it but I'm pretty sure it's straightforward!
    Also, can I remove fields from the tab order?
    Thanks (for your help and patience!)

    Hi,
    You would select the object that you want to receive focus and put the following in the docReady event.
    xfa.host.setFocus("this");
    The docReady event is a good one to use, because it only fires once.
    The tab order can be set in the Tab Order tab. Depending on the version of LC Designer that you have, the flexibility will vary. However I would do this as a last step, as any changes can throw the tab order out of sequence.
    Note that tab order is greatly affected by the relevant x/y coordinates of objects and where objects are in separate subforms.
    Hope this helps,
    Niall

  • BPM 11.1.1.7 Oracle Web Forms Error

    Hi,
    I have successfully installed Oracle BPM 11.1.1.7 on 32 bit Window machine.
    Under BPM Composer, when I tried to create new Web Forms(follows BPM Composer User Guide- Chapter 3), I am getting this error message:
    Error getting form: LeaveRequestForm
    Caused by: Could not instantiate form: got wrong status=500
    Is anyone have any clue- How to rectify this error message ?
    Regards,
    RS

    The error you are getting is because you are using "localhost". Change it to the fully qualified machine name. When invoking Composer, most of us are in the habit of not fully qualifying the machine's name in the URL. For example, the URL http://localhost:7001/bpm/composer will be used to invoke Composer from a browser on the same machine that WebLogic is running or http://MachineName:7001/bpm/composer to invoke it when WebLogic is running on a machine named "MachineName".
    If you plan to use the Web Forms Designer feature in Composer, you now instead must fully qualify the URL with the full machine's name when you invoke Composer (e.g. http://MachineName.SomeDomainName.com:7001/bpm/composer or if you are using an Amazon EC2 instance http://ec2-50-19-167-0.compute-1.amazonaws.com:7001/bpm/composer).
    More than you wanted to know, but another change I believe that you will likely have to make is to change the WebLogic settings for the domain. When creating the WebLogic domain for Oracle BPM, the "Listen Address" and "Frontend Host" fields are left blank by default. While this does not cause an issue when you're in development normally, when using Composer's Web Forms Designer tool these fields need to be set to the fully qualified name of the machine.
    1. Backup the current config.xml file in the <WebLogic domain home directory>\config directory before doing the next step.
    2. In the WebLogic Administration Console expand Environment -> click Servers -> click the server's name -> with both the Configuration and General tabs selected, enter the fully qualified name of the machine where WebLogic is running (e.g. machineName.someDomain.com) in the Listen Address field -> click Save.
    3. Next, enter this same text into the Frontend Host field by clicking the Protocols tab -> click the HTTP tab -> enter the fully qualified name of the machine in the Frontend Host field -> click Save. Finally, be sure to stop and restart the WebLogic domain after making these two changes.
    After you have changed these two fields, you will no longer be able to use localhost in the URLs to invoke Composer, the Workspace, Enterprise Manager or the Administration Console and will instead need to use the fully qualified machine name in these URLs as well.
    Just another heads-up - you will also likely run another issue when you attempt to run Composer's Player. The role names in the processes cannot have any space characters or special characters. You will know that you've run into this issue when you see the error message:
    exception.70207.description: Action INITIATE on process Player/EmployeeOnboarding!1.0*soa_5eba8a37-486e-4451-a714-78912aad9fa9/Process1 cannot be performed by <some user name>Although you are allowed to enter space and special characters (including the "_" character) into the names of the roles in Composer and in Oracle BPM Studio, the role names in the process cannot have any space characters or special characters if you plan on running the process in Composer's Process Player.
    Hope this gets you going,
    Dan

  • Web form not updating database with stored procedure

    Hello
    i have a problem with the web form updating the database i have a stored procedure which i need to connect to. If i execute the procedure in the SQL it will update the database but when i run the web form i get my catch error "could not update database".
    I have read so much on the net and my code seem ok but i,m just so lost.
    stored procedure

    param.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Int;
    param.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    param.Value = txtCustID.Text;
    command.Parameters.Add(param);
    command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@CustID", txtCustID.Text.ToString());
    command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Firstname", txtFirstname.Text);
    command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Surname", txtSurname.Text);
    command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Gender", Gender.Text.ToString());

    command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Email", txtEmail.Text.ToString());
    command.ExecuteNonQuery();
    lblMessage.Text = "Your Record(s) Have been Updated";
    command.Connection.Close();
    catch
    lblMessage.Text = "Your Record was not updated please try again";
    Thank you for your help

    To expand on Mike's advice.
    Change your catch to:
    catch(Exception ex)
    { // Break point here
    lblMessage.Text = "Your Record was not updated please try again";
    Put a break point in where the comment says.
    Run it.
    Hover over ex or add a quickwatch ( right click it ) and see what the error and inner exception is.
    I see several problems though.
    You have way too many parameters and Age should be int.
    They are objects  - they have a type.
    It'll be a string with your code there.
    Something more like
    command.Parameters.Add("@Age", SqlDbType.Int);
    command.Parameters["@Age"].Value = Convert.ToInt32(txtAge.Text);
    Although that might not cut and paste, it's air code intended to give you the idea.
    Hope that helps.
