Text is exceeding Gantt chart bar
Hi Experts
I have a Gantt chart in a Webdynpro for Java application. I am showing some value
(Label) on the bars of the chart. But if the bar is small the value is not fitting into the bar. Is there any way to controll it ?
Thanks
Sunit
Hi Pradeep
I am not talking about Gantt chart layout. For that height and width are there.
But what about the height and width of bar? Would you please elaborate where
those properties are?
Thanks
Sunit

Ability to display multiple texts within graphic planning board Gantt chart
I have been unable to change the planning board Bar Chart Graphic Profile (OPG0 and OPG9) to be able to display both material text and a user field within the Gantt chart graphic. I have copied the SAPSFCG011 profile and created my own. The profile is displayed below from CMCH.

In addition to the profile change, I have configured the graphical object type ZJB000 (in OPG9) to look as follows:
0 AFKO Order header MATXT Material description

3 KBED Capacity requirements A SSSBD Latest scheduled start: Processing (date) SSSBZ Latest scheduled start: Processing (time)

5 KBED Capacity requirements A SENDD Latest finish / date SENDU Latest finish / time
6 AFVG Order operation USR08 User field for date
I have found that the 2nd text field (USR08) must be added as the last step (#6). When I had it as #1, the planning board did not display the USR08 value.
Now both are displayed in the Gantt chart graphic. However, it is difficult to see this long string of data as the bars in the Gantt chart may not be long enough to display the data.
Therefore we would like to use the "hover over" text which is displayed in the status line at the bottom of the screen. We have tried using both the Info Text and the Quick Info options within the Bar Chart: Options Profile (OPG0). Only the first text (the material descirption) is dislayed within either the Quick Info or the Info Text.
Is it possible to have multiple object values appear in Quick Info or Info Text? Or is it possible to control which text is displayed in the Quick Info or Info Text?
Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated, as this is a make-or-break issue for the business to use the planning board. Thank you!I'm also looking for a standard customizing alternative to do the same thing.
Still, if you're interested, I've already done it successfully with user exit PLAT0001.
Hope this helps.
Best regards. -
Gantt chart- How to change the color of time bars of different versions
Hi All,
My Client wants to see all changes in planning schedule. I made different versions of these changes but he also want to see all these changes in gantt chart and in different colors. I tried to change the color in planning board assistant but in this screen (CJ27/ CJ2B). we cannot view all versions together. And if I use CN41, there I cannot change the colors of time bars.
Secondly, we can change colors of times bars of basic dates, forecast dates and actual dates but there is no provision to change the colors of schedule bars of different project versions. Kindly reply-
1. How to see all project versions in CJ27 or How to customise bar chart in cn41 or if we change in SPRO, then how to change graphic profile in project info profile
2. How to change colors of different time bars of different versions.
3. How to mention these legends (meaning of each color in chart) at footer of gantt chart (in print outs)
Please Help.
Thanks & Regards
Dinesh ChauhanThanks,
actually I've created new project planning board profile where planning board assistant is customized but unable to use this profile in CN41. we can change PS info profile in CN41 and that;s why I thought that planning board profile may be assigned somewhere in PS info profile so that changes in planning board assistant will be applied in CN41 through PS info profile. Graphic profile is too complex to understand and not sure if it will help to get colored time bars of projct versions in gantt chart. Still not clear.
Secondly not able to see all versions (snap shots) in gantt chart with different colors of time bars.
I mean planning board screen can be customized but we cannt see different versions here which are possible in CN41, but we cannt customize the gantt chart (time bars) in CN41. Pls help.
Thx & Regards

Did you ever find a reason as to why the bars were not printing? I'm experiencing the same problem with Apex 4.1.1. Only the first part prints. Here is the print tag:
<print mode="MultiPage" print_all_columns="true" columns_on_every_page="2" fit_timescale_to_end_of_page="false">
I've changed some of these settings to no avail.

Actual Time bar for the activity duration in Gantt Chart
Hi all,
The Actual time bar for the elapsed activity duration in Gantt chart is not appearing. The same is true for all the activities i.e. activities which are not yet confirmed and activities which are partially confirmed.
Is there any customizing for the same? ( I am getting the bar in IDES, but not in DEV/QAS/PRD )
Any Help in this regards will be highly appreciated
Warm regards,
Srinivas PotluriHai Srinivas
Got the solution.
1)For this first check in the project profile of the Hierarchry graphic -
Time scheduling profile - check the colour patterns which been assigned.
2)open the project - Cj20N - go to planning board - bar chart - under settings - Planning board assistant - Gantt chart - check the dates display for Project definition , WBS , Acitivity - try to change the colour and check.
while changing can see - basic date of the acitivity. based on the confirmation can see the bar confirmed activity with respect to basic date. the bar confirmation will show withrespect to duration.
3) If the bar chart need in daily /hourly - can check in CNE5 . click on the graphics -bar chart - which u will get the bar chart - in this choose the Time Axis - where can select the monthly /weekly/daily /hourly format .
Award points if clear and got the solution.

Adf gantt chart: how to drag the task bar to another date
hi all,
how can I drag the task bar to another date in ADF Gantt Chart.
do I need coding(like handler DataChangeEvent in dataChangeListener),
or just set some properties.
thank you for your help !
zqhWe are unable to drag the gantt bars in our application. Initially this used to work fine and we used to get a call back for the action type TIME_CHANGED in the data change event. But now neither we are getting handle around the bars for expanding/collapsing them nor we are getting any callback for this event.
Looks like if the Edit feature is added in the featuresoff attribute of gantt then the gantt becomes un-interactive. Is there a way by which we can remove the Edit menu but still be able to drag/expand/collapse the task bars?

Display of Assigned Resource Units or % in Gantt chart
Is there a way in P6 to show how many of a particular resource is assigned to a task in the Gantt chart view/layout? For example, a task may have (7) laborers, (2) electricians, (1) operating engineer, and (1) concrete pump truck assigned. The "Resources" column in the Gantt view only shows laborer, electrician, operating engineer, concrete pump truck. It does not show how many of each are needed.
Go for the workaround.
Create a text User Defined Field (UDF).
Add the numbers in UDF exactly in order of resources view in Gantt Chart.
Add the UDF as bar label next to Resources label.

Timescale at the bottom of Gantt Chart
Hi,
In the old P3 application, we were able to put timescale at the bottom of Bars area, how can we do it with new P6.Sharyar ,
As far as I know that is not possible in the current version of P6.
But, you can have a timescale located on the bottom of your screen if:
Option #1: Set up either a "Resource profile or Activity profile" on the bottom section of your screen. I use them regularly and they easily print out displaying the timescale on the bottom of my layouts. But that's not the same as viewing a gantt chart :(
Option #2: If you do not need the timescale to be seen is to change the format of the timescale's shade & text color to "white".
Option #3: Maybe try to build a new report that displays a time phased look with weeks, months or years displayed on the top of each page.
Option #4: (least recommended) Take a screen shot of your schedule and modify the location of your timescale using a type of graphics software.
Hope this helps, -

Hi
I've produced a gantt chart based the following query
Select Null Link,
Task_Name,
Task_Id,
Parent_id,
actual_start,
actual_end,
null progress,
planned_start,
Planned_End
From query_table
It all looks good, except that I don't want to display progress since we don't actually hold this value. I've tried setting it to null, as above, but it displays on the chart as 0%. Is there any way of removing this value from display on each task on the chart?
ThanksHi,
You'll need to customise the XML to achieve this behaviour. On the Chart Attributes page, set "Use Custom XML" to Yes, and in the XML remove all references to:
Complete: {%Complete}%
Doing so will remove references to the progress bar from the tooltips used on the Gantt chart. Next you'll need to update the <task_styles> tag to include some label information for the <actual> bar. It looks like the Complete label is the default label associated with a Project Gantt, although I haven't found anything in the online documentation stating this. I'll follow up with AnyChart on this. In the meantime, I would recommend reviewing their online User's Guide, specifically Labels in Tasks, where you'll find information on the possible labels you can define for the bars in the timeline region of the chart. If you leave the <text> tags empty, or simply don't include them, it looks like the bar displays without any label, which may be the behaviour you're trying to achieve. Here's the XML you can add to your chart:
<actual>
<bar_style>
<labels>
<label anchor="Right" valign="Center" halign="Far">
<text></text>
<font face="Verdana" size="10" bold="true" color="White">
</font>
</label>
</labels>
...where the tags in grey above already exist in the chart XML, so should not be copied. I hope this helps.

HELP!! How to use setData for a Gantt-Chart
Hello,
how can I use the function setData? I've created a page with a resource-gantt-chart and now I want to use this function to set the data to the chart.
The chart has the attribute "static id" = GANT_CHART.
In the HTML-header of the page I tried
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function SetDataToChart() {
var data = &F_GANTT_CHART_DATA.;
var chart = document.getElementById('GANTT_CHART');
chart.setData(data);
</script>
where the item F_GANTT_CHART_DATA returns the following:
<resource_chart>
<resources>
<resource id="3002" name="0400006/1" />
</resources>
</resource_chart>
I call the function SetDataToChart() in "Execute when page loads"
Thank you for any help!

How to build a gantt chart with BI Publisher
Hi everybody, I need to create a gantt chart with BI Publisher. I had a look to the document "Getting Gantty" from the blog:
http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2008/01/getting_gantty.html
but I don't understand in which way:
1. build the data template in order to replicate the XML code in the article
2. build and link the yellow bar which dynamically increases its length according to the meeting duration
Anybody already tried to implement something similar ? I didn't still found a real example about how to do it......
I need a help, please
Thanks in Advance
AlexYes that is the only option which we can stop a running report in BI Publisher
I suspect you'll need to ask your DBA to kill the session.
However, if you have DBA privileges yourself, you can do this by a few methods, some of which are described here:
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/misc/KillingOracleSessions.php
Mark if helps,

Turning Off Gantt Charts in MS Project For PDF Gen
hi
we have run into a problem when printing Gantt charts with PDF Gen. They can be extremely slow and on following up with Support they have confirmed that this is an issue with Distiller and there is no fix soon. So to get around the issue we tried disabling Gannt charts in MS Project by un-checking Bars and shapes in Gantt views in 3-D' (Tools > Options, View tab) in MS Project
Now we're finding LC does not always pick up the setting. What we have noticed is that sometimes when printing to PDF with the same file, on the same server via PDF Gen, Gantt charts will appear, and sometimes not. Occasionally, the MS Project file when printing Gantt charts will stall in the Adobe Printer Queue, LC will then start to get Stuck Threads in Weblogic, and basically become unstable.
Upon further investigation we saw that LC will use the WINPROJ.exe if it is running to do the conversion, or start a new WINPROJ.exe process if none is running. Sometimes while starting the process we get the Gantt chart setting picked up, and sometimes not, and there is no particular pattern.
We did a lot of digging with PROCMON to see if we could find if LC was picking up a Windows Registry entry for MS Project perhaps with a different user which did not have the Gannt chart turned off, but could not find one. Our conclusion was that sometimes LC has submitted the job before WINPROJ.exe is fully loaded and somehow the No Gantt charts option gets lost, though this is speculation based on observation of behaviour.
Anyone know what is going on?Hi,
We will get this issue reproduced in-house and see if we can provide a patch to address this problem. Prima facie this does not appear to be a bug in the product; rather it appears that MS Project might be "forgetting" this setting in some cases, or a similar setting (inside the file that is being converted) might override the application-wide setting.
We will try to see if we can forcibly set this flag (through MS Project COM APIs) each time a MS Project file gets converted. If this works, we might be able to provide a patch.
Meanwhile, can you let me know exactly what version of MS Office (with the service pack details, if any) that you are using?
