Text looses quality after camera-dolly

Hi there,
I am working with text and zoom in with the camera- dolly button.
But nearly immediately the edges of the text get "stairs"and it gets blurry.
Is there a way to correct this ?
Thanks for answering,
Andrea

Ok, I found the "Render Quality"- "Best"- Button

This is the settings i was using
    i always use quicktime conversion
    video settings are
    compression H.264
    frame rate set to current
    key frames every
    frame recording checked
    compressor quality best
    encoding best
    data rate automatic
    size set to 1920x1080 HD
    format set to quicktime movie
    Hopefully someone can help thanks
Original quality from the camera (the bike was moving so its going to be blurred but just look at like the walls)

You need to convert your H264 clips to Pro Res (LT wil be fine), Not sure if you can use Log and Transfer for this, probably can with the Canon EOS plug in. Either Compressor or MPEG Streamclip (http://www.squared5.com.)
    will also do the job.
When you have finished the edit, export Quicktime movie with current settings and you will have a full quality movie that you can covert to whatever settings you like, depending on what you are going to do with it. Compressor has loads of presets to help you with this.

  • Text poor quality after Export

I'm having some pretty poor quality text rendering after export. The video appears fine otherewise. I am exporting to YouTubeSD not HD, though I wouldn't think that would matter. [?]
I'm pretty new to the complexities of film editing. So, I can't answer much about the video source files other than that they are MP4 converted originally from analog files written to DVD. I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with the titles at all since all text created thru PP Title Editor. [?]
Here's a screenshot of settings. Any ideas?

Sorry- I meant to add this is CS5.5
Jeff- I've been using this same font for other projects without problem. This just started happening on this project. Yes, it is a serif font but no problems before. It's always rendered well [Adobe Arabic].
Message was edited by: zech3  APOLOGIES-  when I searched this issue, I didn't see my exact problem and the post below [ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/705407?tstart=0 ] just got resurrected from 2010, it didn't appear in my search... though I'm not sure our issue is identical...
    Here's a better screenshoht:
And some screen shots of titles:
BEFORE text rendering problem. From a project last year, this typeface is skinnier but rendered much better!
AFTER text rendering problem started. This is the current typeface that, even though a heavier typeface, renders horribly!!
I should add that the titles seem to flicker a bit when transitions are applied to the start or end of title clip.

  • Why do I loose quality after compressor?

I have quality loss after I use compressor. The file compressor makes looks much worse than the file I export from FCP. Can anyone help?? My project is 1440x1080, and I export quicktime movie as apple ProRes 422 1440x1080 30p. The exported file looks great, but after compressor it looks bad. thank You for any help.

    How are you compressing it?

  • Graphics loosing quality when rendering

I´m importing some graphics rendered in AFX to Premiere CS3, and when I run in Premiere they are OK, but after I edit them in the sequence and render, they loose quality. For example, I have some text (orange color) over black background. When I render them in the sequence, the text looses quality, the text definition and the color degrade and it seems that there are two colors in the text. And some weird things are happening with fields too. When I import some footage rendered lower field first in AFX, they run smooth in the source monitor, but when I edit them in a sequence and render, the field order seems to be wrong.
I cannot figure out what´s happening.

In AFX I rendered using QuickTime animation codec
In Premiere CS3 I´m working with NTSC DV
Like I said, chances are your AE export is higher quality than your Premiere project, hence when rendered, the quality goes down.  The Quicktime Animation codec is comparable to Uncompressed.  When you compress it to DV by rendering, quality can suffer.

  • Loosing quality

I have a character recorded in blue screen (with a DV camera) and I was trying to key it in Premiere CS3, but as I was not happy with the results I exported a QuickTime movie (Animation codec) to key it in After Effects. The keying result was perfect, but I noticed that the image of my character in the rendered movie was loosing quality; this face was somewhat out of focus compared to the original imported source.
I cannot figure out why this happened, because the imported Animation movie is perfect.
    Can anyone help me?

and when I run a preview it just looks like just only one field is playing.
That is the correct behavior. AE ever only displays the dominat field associated with a frame. if you need to see the full res, temporarily turn off field interpretation. For masking work this would be advisable, anyways, but in this case you would also have to double the comp framerate, e.g. 50 fps for PAL's normal 25fps, then for rendering, nest that in a comp withg the final frame rate.

  • Why do my photos and text disinigrate quality (appear fuzzy / blurry / lo res) in premier pro cs6?

    Premier Pro CS6 Question.....
Why do my photos and text disinigrate quality when imported to premier pro cs6?
I have still shots that have text and they look clean and crisp when I view them in photoshop. Why does the photo and text look so fuzzy or blurry and not crisp when I import the still files into premier pro cs6?
Is there a setting in premier that I am setting incorrectly? That is possibly blurring my photos and text? The problem appears in both my PR file and my final exported work.
Is there a way to retain the quality of the image and text that I see in my photoshop file?
Note: I am not enlarging anything after import, I am reducing though, but I would think this would only make images and text sharper????
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Im getting tired of doing all my work and delivering blurry / fuzzy / what appears to be low resolution images and text when I complete my project.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Hi Jim, thanks so much again for chiming in to my questions.
Specs of Stills - Photoshop file - 677 x 1014px, 150dpi, 1.96M file size, 150dpi, this is the size of the file I originally imported and reduced to approx. 65%, the one sized properly in photoshop imported fuzzier.
    Sequence Settings -
Export Settings, FLV, attached are settings.
    1. EXPORT FILTER SETTINGS...
    2. EXPORT FORMAT SETTINGS
    3. EXPORT VIDEO SETTINGS
FINAL PROJECT IS DELIVERY OF FLV FILE TO EMBED IN INTERACTIVE FILE. Ive tried different settings for different jobs, just feel all text and photos fall apart when pulled into and exported to FLV for embedding final.
Ive done several slideshow and video's in premier pro, have so much to learn still, Im thinking I keep diving into my projects and possibly making a total mess out of my settings for the desired final destination? is this possible?

  • Importing avi into Imovie, i loose Quality

    OK.....
I'm importing avi files from my PC to my Mac. File sizes are around 1.2 GB each. When i import them to Imovie, takes about 10 minutes to, and when the files are imported, the quality is not good. BUT! when i import these files into IDVD and place them in a menu screen on IDVD, they look great! So ? What do i need to do so when i import my .avi video files, i won't loose quality when importing them to imovie. These files are uncompressed and come from a home design software. Please post ASAP with answers i need to resolve this issue for a client of mine. Thanks everyone!

Never judge by what you see in iMovie, the playback is bad. Always judge by what you see on a TV (via DV camera or iDVD and DVD player).

  • ? loosing quality when rendering many times ?

Here is my question: after you have rendered a clip, yet you may want to change some parameters so that the whole clip is to be redered again; sometimes, you do this many times untill you've got what you want, like color or exposure and so on. Does FCP render it again from the original unrendered media or from the already rendered clip in the timeline? I mean, if it's from the original media, you may render and render again without loosing quality. If not, you've got to know exactly what you want from the first time, otherwise you'll soon have a very bad result. Anybody knows about this?

    Kevan,
    Why would it do that?
For example: you have a clip running at 90% of normal speed. To play back that clip on the timeline you likely need to render it.
You make an edit where you increase the speed of the clip from 90% to 95%.
What possible value would re-using the existing render file be in this case? It is still going to have to calculate every frame and no time or CPU cycles would be saved (it actually would be more complex to calculate the real speed from the render than the original).
It makes no sense to me to have the system work that way.

  • Quality of Camera profiles measured (D700)

After never-ending debate about quality of Camera profiles, I decided to try to measure how good these profiles realy are. For that purpose, I made a kind of custom raw file for D700, with a kind of test chart inside it. It was not physical test chart, photographed by the camera, but generated by the program.
I developped this chart with NX2 using standard profile, and with ACR using Camera Standard profiles version 1, 2 and 3. In case of NX2, I turned off all corrections (except standard profile). In case of ACR, I used default settings for each of those profiles and no noise reduction. Also, I developped this raw using ACR with my version of Standard profile, which was generated by modified code I used for calibrating Canon compacts that are not supported by ACR. Color space used was Adobe RGB, 16 bit.
After that, I made graphical interpretation of degree of mismatch between result from NX2 and ACR. Results are shown in attached picture. First picture from the top is a part of a test chart, as developped by NX2. Remaining pictures show the difference between that picture and pictures developped by ACR with these profiles, multiplied by 10 to emphasise the differences. Each pixel is calculated according to the formula
    Red = 10 * Abs(Red_NX2 - Red_ACR)
    Green = 10 * Abs(Green_NX2 - Green_ACR)
    Blue = 10 * Abs(Blue_NX2 - Blue_ACR)
So, intensity of each color in those "delta pictures" shows the error for that color. For total match, this picture would be totaly black
So, it is visible that v2 beta profile (3rd picture from the top) was actually worse then the first version of this profile (2nd picture from the top). But, things improved considerably with v3 beta profile (4th picture). Anyway, there is still some room for improvement, as shown with last picture which is the best I could get with my code at the moment. On real life pictures it is very hard to see any difference between those two profiles
My profile for D700 (Standard only) can be downloaded here
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y1OBM020
This is not official release from Adobe, so take it as is. Default settings for this profile (that will match the result from NX2) are the same as for v3 beta, except that blacks should be 0 (default value for blacks is 5 for Camera standard v1, v2, v3)

Well, my point was that v3 beta profile is good enough (although calibration procedure can be slightly improved). On several D700 photos I had (thanks menno1000 for the samples, because I don't have D700), it's very hard to see any difference between results from NX2 and ACR using whether v3 beta or my profile
There are also slight differences between jpeg from D700 and from NX2. It's the same with my Canon 400D - I compared some jpegs from the camera with results from Raw Image Task and Digital Photo Pro and all versions are slightly diferent from each other
The main reason why I don't like older camera profiles is because of some issues in highlights (already discussed here), but this was addressed with v2/v3 profiles. But doing similar test on 400D shown me that there are also some highlight issues with in-camera processing (also addressed with new models). It's quite complex stuff
Also, in case of Canon, there are considerable differences between sRGB profiles and Adobe RGB profiles in DPP software (even well inside sRGB gamut), that is also a reason for some mismatches between results from ACR and DPP when using sRGB, because there are no separate versions of camera profiles for these color spaces. In case of NX2, these differences are much smaller
In short, I don't think we need an absoulte match with manufacturer's profiles and I completely agree with Jeff's opinion about that
About calibrating procedure, it consists of making testing raw file (with a program) and developping it by the camera (in case of Canon compacts) or NX2 or DPP (in case of DSLR-s). After that, I calculate a profile on the differences between input and output. Since my profile in most parts looks very similar to v3 beta, I suppose that Adobe team used very similar approach. However, it's quite tricky to do it right, especially with the compacts, where I have relatively low quality data to play with (10 bit raw and 8 bit compressed jpeg output), so it took a lots of experimenting.

  • How Do I Wrap Text Like the iOS Camera App?

Hello. I am in yearbook, and I have been challenged with designing the cover of the yearbook, and I have been having a few problems along the way. One of these problems is to wrap text. Specifically, I'm stuck on how I would wrap text like the iOS camera app on the bottom of the screen. The words seem like they are wrap around a 3D object to give it that effect, but I can't really tell. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

No iOS apps are use to work on images  they have no value when you have Photoshop. The iPod is better for displaying image then the iPad mini it has a 3:2 aspect ratio display and travels better the the mini iPad which has a 4:3 aspect ratio display.  I also crop image for display on wall mounted HDTV. The iPad is better for casual internet access then the iPod. All our kids have iPhones and they all use computers either Mac or PC for work and internet access.  When you have a Unix or Windows why would you want to touch an iOS device for work or serious internet access.  Apple mobile devices are convenient for casual use and grand kids don't get that dirty finger painting on them as they do using real paint. Nothing of real value is maintained on an iOS device.
Well...there's Photoshop Touch and Photoshop Mix as well as Lightroom Mobile. It could be argued that they're don't exactly mirror their desktop cousins, yes, but they weren't meant to be. They were meant as extensions to the desktop experience.  (e.g., Lightroom Mobile lets one work with the RAW images they have in their Lightroom desktop collections.)
The more powerful Windows tablets can run Photoshop desktop (like Photoshop CC) too.
@bluebocat: Are you looking for text with a perspective? Like it has a vanishing point? As if it was turned in a certain direction in 3D space?

  • Text sound disapeared after software update

I recently upgraded my phone software and lost my text message alert notifications. I am receiving all other alerts. I am on call for three different emergency response organizations I need this fixed now! I have viewed other post about this issue, the only thing you have told people is to factory reset their phones, this is unacceptable! What other options do I have? Taking my phone back to zero is not one of them! I also lost the ability to SWYPE input for text and email.

After upgrading your stock ROM you always need to do a factory data reset, if your phone doesn't do it for you. Then you can simply choose which sounds you want for the notification in the settings. You can download the Swype keyboard, or several various similar to Swype, from the Play Store. I liked Kii and used it for a long time.

  • Excel Table with Data Connection Manual Text Entry Misaligned After Refresh

    Greetings!
I have an Excel 2010 workbook that includes a table linked to my SharePoint 2013 site by a data connection. The SharePoint list feeds the table standard information that's managed on the SharePoint site, but I need the user of the Excel workbook to be able
to enter text manually in the workbook to associate local information with the line-items coming from the SharePoint list. To do this, I've added extra columns to the end of the table.
The user can enter information in the appropriate cells in the "extra" columns at the end of the table, but when I refresh the data connection, the addition of a new list item on the SharePoint side results in the user's manually entered text getting
out of alignment with the row it's supposed to be associated with.
    Example
    Column 1(SP)
    Column 2(Extra)
    Row 1
    Item 1
    Row 2
    Item 2
    Text entered for Item 2
    Row 3
    Item 3
Then, if I add a new item to the list in SharePoint, for example, something that would appear between the original items 1 & 2, after refreshing the table, I get the following:
    Column 1(SP)
    Column 2(Extra)
    Row 1
    Item 1
    Row 2
    New Item 1.5
    Text entered for Item 2
    Row 3
    Item 2
    Row 4
    Item 3
The table's data connection is set to insert rows for new items, and I could swear I had this working properly once upon a time...but I can't seem to make it work now.
Any thoughts on what would cause this?
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is. I realized after posting the first time, that I'd assigned the question to the Visio forum. I wasn't sure how to reassign to the correct (Excel) forum, so I re-posted over there:

  • How good is H.264 quality after multiple re-renderings.

How well does a high bit rate (e.g.30Mbps) H.264 maintain its quality after multiple re-renderings. I believe MPEG2 suffers quite a bit after several re-renderings, how does H.264 compare?
    Thank you.

It's probably best not to do it. H.264 is a lossy compression format. Each pass will degrade the media to some degree.
