Text message delay

My boyfriend and few co-workers have android and after I got the iPhone 6 , I get their text messages I don't get them until one or two hours later, let's say, If they text me at 8 am. I don't receive until 9 or 11 am... anybody else with the same issue? I never had this problem with my iPhone 5s.

With different sim-card?
I haven't tried another sim but it's hard to tell if that would work because it's works fine sometimes as it is. But when I think the problem is solved, there's the delay again..
The operator (Tele 2) says that there's no disturbances in my area, and there's always at least 3 (usually more) "connection bars" or what it's called, on the phone.

  • IPhone 3G S - Calls not coming through. Text Message Delays in NYC

I know it's not a down tower.. I was just transfered to a "Tier-2" ATT tech rep.
Here's my problem.. Between 25-50% of my calls are not showing up on my phone, they just go straight to voicemail.
I upgraded from the 3G 16gb to the 3G S 32GB yesterday and noticed these side effects immediately after activating through iTunes. The tech re-activated my phone to the new sim card and had me reset my network settings through general -> reset -> reset network settings..
Before I go and bring my 3G S back to the store and
    a) Exchange it
    b) Return it all together
Has anyone else experienced these issues? I also noticed text messages have been delayed anywhere from 20 minutes to a few hours.

    I am seriously disappointed here.
I own the black 32GB iPhone 3GS and have been an iPhone user since the original iPhone 2G in 2007. I have upgraded my iPhones every year and religiously use Mac products. I am not a fan boi. Mac products work for me.
    Except the 3GS.
    I need so help here.
I purchased the 3GS not because of the 3G data advantage but because of the video recording features and the compass and the general battery life enhancement.
Let me give you a run down.
I have 4 email accounts: MobileMe-Push, AOL- Fetch, Yahoo-Push and Gmail on fetch.
I have 1,465 songs, 13 videos and 1497 photos. Of those, only 5 were taken by the 3GS' camera. I have 17GB free. I don't rush to fill space. I have 46 application installed.
Now there are three things that are happening that never happened on the other phones that have me deeply disturbed and praying that Apple issues a fix because this is serious!!!
I got the phone about 3 weeks after its launch.
It burns through the battery and that incoming call issue.
I use the term 'burn' because the phone does get hot and it has never lasted more than 1 day in standby.
However, all of that stops when I turn the push notifications and push email off.
When I turn push notification off for Beejive and I turn push off for Yahoo! and MobileMe and restart the iPhone, I realize on a full charge it lasts long. I get all my calls and text and everything.
    But that is an inconvenience.
I, like many iPhone users, have opted to not sync my contacts through iTunes but use MobileMe instead. Not only that, but Apple's MobileMe 'Find My iPhone' feature only works with the push services on.
All of this is with 3G services turned off in the Network settings. I prefer to use the Edge as I have a 10 Mbps wifi network readily available and I don't require the speed for YouTube so much as I listen to music and rarely use the online video service.
With Push email on and Beejive push notifications on, I do not receive any calls. Callers hear my line ring twice then it goes to voicemail. I don't even get the voicemail notification until hours after. Same thing with text. I always get delayed text whenever I make a call.
Wasn't it Apple's idea to do push notification as compared to background processing to save battery life? So must I chose between push notifications and push email and being able to receive my phone calls? And what's the use of use push notifications when it eats battery life anyway? How come the 3G and the 2G running 2.2.1 give this problem. And Apple insults people when they tell us to turn Push notification of! I NEED my push emails. I do business with contacts in IM and if they didn't want to give us background processes why make a big deal about push notification and profess that it doesn't use all that battery life? Why is it 2.2.1 never gave these problems.
AT&T ***** but it is not all their fault. I know this is an iPhone issue because when I put the SIM card in another phone, it works perfectly.
I did not upgrade to 3.0 to have to chose between push email and receiving calls and battery life. The 3G worked just fine. The 2G worked just fine.
I seriously hope that 3.1 addresses this because this is utter nonsense!
The iPhone is the best in it's class otherwise I would have seriously ditched it long time and gotten a Pre or an Android phone but they are not close. Their app offering ***** and the iPhone's keyboard is really good. (I'm a God with that thing!)
Give me a 2.0 for my 3GS and let me at least live with push email and be able to receive calls.

  • Delayed text messages and voicemail notifications

    Hi all,
I am really at my wit's end with this problem. For about a week and a half, I have been having a severe text message delay. My sent messages go out fine, and are received immediately, but I have been receiving messages anywhere from a few hours to a few days late. These messages are from both people on AT&T and otherwise. When the messages do come through, they come in bursts--one message right after the other as if they were all just sent. The only luck I have had in receiving my messages in a more timely fashion has been to keep turning off and turning back on my phone.
Additionally, I have been having similar issues receiving voicemail. Someone could leave me a voicemail in the morning and I won't even be aware there was a message until well into the evening. Again, turning off the phone and turning it back on is the only thing that seems to work.
I have spent countless hours on the phone with both AT&T and iPhone tech support over the past 4 days, and each day I am told "all set, the problem's fixed!", and yet it persists. I have already reset my phone, completely restored my phone, etc., etc. Also I have not changed locations recently (that might affect the service, for example), and this problems persists even when I have a full signal. Earlier today, AT&T support completely reset my voicemail, and that has not fixed the situation, either.
Please if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. AT&T seems to have no more options for me, and naturally they blame the phone, and iPhone support blames AT&T, and ultimately nothing is getting fixed.
    Thank you for your help.

Text & voicemail are both carrier features, so I would lean more to the problem being on AT&T's side than your phone. Especially since you've indicated that you've done a restore. However, there are a couple of things left you can do:
    1. Get a new sim card. Go to an AT&T store & have them replace your sim, they should not charge you for this.
    2. If the problem still persists after replacing the sim, make an appointment at an Apple store. They have diagnostic equipment that can tell instantly if your phone has a hardware problem.

  • Help with text messages and calls--urgent and annoying :-/

Hello: I have an 8350i on the Sprint/Nextel network. Latest issues include what seems to be a dump of my text messages--yesterday received a batch at 5:38pm that had been sent at 9:49am, 10am, 11:27am, noon, 2pm, 2:15pm and then another batch last night at 9:08pm that had been sent at 7:31pm, 8:47pm, and again this morning a batch that arrived at just before 7am that had been sent about 2 hours before. And it's not all the time, or just certain messages. Very frustrating.
Second issue is that I discoverd that neither my husband or I am able to call my office landline. Colleagues seem to have no trouble.
    Any thoughts out there? Thanks!

Text message delays are a carrier issue, I would contact sprint and see if there was maintenance in the area or other outages.  Quick fix, you can try to pull the battery out while the device is still on and time it for 2 minutes.  This refreshes your connection and it may work properly after that.  Also, calling other numbers is a carrier issue also.

  • Delayed text messaging through imessage

I've been having a problem with text messages being delayed through imessage with just one other iphone.  The problem has been going on since last Thursday, 9/4.  I can send texts to the other person and they are recieved promptly, but I do not recieve texts for 1-3 days and then they come all at once.  This is very annoying! We are both in zip code 44256 and both using Verizon.

Being able to send and receive text messages is very important and something that we want to make sure you have the ability to do. Has your phone completed any recent software updates? Are you having any problems sending and receiving text messages to anyone that is not another iPhone user? Let's try resetting the network settings http://vz.to/1ovdCBD to see if that resolves the issue. Please keep us posted.

  • Why does my iPhone 4S delay text message alerts?

Many times, my iPhone 4S will not alert me as soon as I receive a text message.
Even if I received the text message when it was sent, my iPhone will not notify me until I unlock the phone.
Then it perks up -- "Oh yeah, you have a new text message. You received it 2 hours ago."
I have tried researching this issue but I can't find anyone else who has had this same issue.
All of the suggestions I've found have to do with a delay in sending text messages, not in alerting you to new text messages.
Sometimes I will receive text messages a few hours old but that doesn't happen often enough for me to worry about it.
But nothing I've found so far specifically deals with the alerts.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
Any ideas how to fix this?
Note that I have tried all the "standard" suggestions: restarting, restoring, etc.
    Thanks!

Did you ever find a solution? I have pretty much the same issue. I will receive text messages but not receive an alert. Then anywhere from a few seconds to minutes later my phone will light up and vibrate but there is no notification. I'll unlock my phone and sure enough I have a text message.
Sometimes, I'll receive a text message when the phone is in my hand and unlocked, no vibration, no alert, but there is a badge icon and I'll see that there is a text, read it, and even reply. I'll lock my phone and a few minutes later my phone will light up and vibrate as if I have a text, but there is no notificaion, no badge icon and it will be the alert finally catching up to the text I received minutes earlier. It drives me crazy!
    Anyone else?

  • Delaying a text message

    Hi guys,
Is there an app which will allow you to compose a text message but send it at a later time and date.

How can I send a text message to send at a later time?  This is somethign my basic phone was able to do.  I can't even find an app for that!  They all seem to just give you alerts to remind you to send a text at a given time.  Any help or advice?

  • LG Revolution not receiving text messages from iphone user

I am not receiving text messages from iphone user, sporatically.  The messages are showing as reveived on Verizon website in usage detail, but not being received on my phone.

This issue needs fixed asap! I have a few suggestions that should help you get this resolved. If they are showing up in the usage details, that means they are hitting the Verizon network, but for some reason they are not showing up on the phone.   I recommend clearing the cache from your messaging/text messaging programs. Go to settings> applications> manage apps> all> Messaging/Text Messaging> Force Stop/Clear Cache/Clear Data. Erase the old text threads that you have saved and retry.
If that doesn't work, please let us know the following:
    1) Do they come in delayed or not at all?
    2) Do you have any 3rd party messaging apps installed?
    3) Do they have any problems receiving messages from you?
    4) When they're sending messages, are they directly to you, or do you have this problem when the iPhone user sends to a group of people?
Thanks for the additional info! I'm sure we can find a fix.

  • Software update September 9, 2014...photos in text messaging take forever to download

Ever since the update a couple of weeks ago, any time someone sends me a picture in a text message, it takes hours before it downloads to my phone.  I can see that it's there, it just won't come in fully for hours.  What gives?

Having same issue.  Pictures and long texts were taking up to 6 hours to download after update.  Reboot would pull them right in, but then it was back to delay with next message.  I cleared the app cache, then the system cache, no joy.  I turned wifi off, which I should NOT have to do, and no change.  I did a hard reset, and now it's better, but it's still not as fast as it was.  There are times when it's taking up to 10 minutes to download a long winded text, and it's taking longer to send texts - up to 3 minutes (for a 1-3 sentence text).
One thing I noticed is that my signal strength is fluctuating wildly, and I have a feeling that is the cause of this.  I can sit in one spot in my house and the signal strength will go from 5 bars to 1 and any where in between in a matter of seconds.  If the signal bars stay at 5 for a while, the texting seems to be fine.  But when the signal starts fluctuating the texting slows down drastically.

  • Text message report - unsuccessful

I sent a text message with a photo and noticed an envelope icon and a black circle with an i in it next to the the message.  I did a long click and a list of message options was brought up.  I checked view report and status was listed as unsuccessful.  What does this mean?  I have never received these icons before.
Does this mean my messages are being blocked.  It was sent to an AT&T phone.

    Good morning.
The message may have not been able to be delivered due to the message size, or depending on what type of phone it was being sent to.  Some devices cannot use enhanced messaging.  Additionally, it may have been the network or area you were in at the time, which may have caused a delay in the switch.  Therefore, at the time you checked the message status, it was unsuccessful.  Have you been able to since, send that message?  Have you had this issue sending to any other phone at any other time, since this incident?  If so, you may try power cycling your device and retry.
    Thank you,

  • IMessage & 10.8.2 Stopping Incoming Text Messages to iPhone 5?

I'm using Moutain Lion 10.8.2 and iPhone 5 ios 6.0.2. Both are updated to the latest versions of software available at this time.
I've been working at home today and using iMessage on my Macbook Pro Retina which has worked fine with sending and recieving - if I wans't actively using my mac my phone would sound, if I was using my mac the message would come straight through to my iMessage on my desktop - works fine!
However, I just sent a normal, non iMessage text message to a friend and suddenly about 5 normal text messages have come into my iPhone inbox with times sent much earlier today (some quite urgent work related ones as well, annoying). I definitely didn't miss them, they literally came in, the phone vibrated and the unread count in the inbox went up seconds after I pressed "send" of the normal text message.
I'm with O2 here in the UK, I have just checked the "service status" on their website and there are no reported issues. Just sent a normal text message from a family member's phone and it came through fine but I'm put off using iMessage on my mac if it delays receipt of normal text messages to my phone.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Can I do anything to rectify it? Very inconvenient..!

    Hi,
Broadly speaking to be effective in Syncing (Displaying in all Places) requires that there was a "Start Point" for the iMessages server to begin syncing the iMessages to iPhone, iPads and Macs running Messages once the Apple ID is in place.
Most people seem to state the opposite happens for them - their iPhone gets iMessages that the Mac does not.
The most likely cause for this is that the iPhone Number is not an Receive Alias on the Mac version and that iPhone to iPhone iMessages are in fact almost "Private".
I would start by checking the iPhone Number is in the Mac version of Messages as an iMessage alias.
I would then check the iPhone that the Apple ID involved is In the settings and is ticked as Active.
If all are present I would turn Off Messages on the iPhone or put in Airplane mode for a few minutes.
After you have turned it On again then Restart Messages on the Mac.
If you are short of Apple IDs and iPhone numbers you will get alert messages from the iMessages server saying the Apple ID and iPhone number are being used with the devices involved

  • Text messages won't load, visual voice mail barely works, e-mail won't update

I've had the HTC Rhyme for about two weeks. Last week I noticed my text messages were not loading. I I turned the phone off a few times. Still no text messages loading. I spoke with Verizon CS and they tried several solutions that did not work. I finally reset my phone and my text messages started loading again...for a couple of days. Exactly one week later my text messages are not loading again. I am not gonna reset my phone again. In addition to no text messages not loading, my visual voicemail works sometimes ( voicemails show up hours later). My aol email does not update. When I mentioned this to the Verizon CS they said "instead of using the phone's email setup, I should download the aol app from the Google Play Store. So, I downloaded the aol mail app last week. Since I had to reset my phone I had to download the aol mail app again. But, now I can't find the aol mail app in the Google Play Store. I am VERY dissatisfied with this phone.

Sstelliott, I sorry to hear of the issue you are having with your phone and I’m here to help!
Are you able to send text and picture messages? How do you know when you are not receiving a message? Do you get an error message? Are you able to access the Internet on your phone? Are you using a third party message app?
Run the phone in safe mode http://bit.ly/tXe7I4 and have someone send you a text to see if you receive. I want to make sure a third party isn’t causing these issues.
In regards to the visual voice mail, do you notice you have the delayed message when you’re in a certain area? Make sure airplane mode is disabled and that you’re able to access the Internet. Also, make sure call forwarding is disabled by dialing *73 send from your cell. You’ll hear a few beeps and the call will drop. Finally, update the phone by dialing *228 send and selecting option 2 to update. Once the update is complete make sure you power cycle the phone.
The update should also help with the email issues. You mentioned you are unable to find the app in the Google Plat store. Go to the Play store and on the main page select the Menu key. Go to My Apps. There you should see the email app if you previously downloaded it before you did the hard reset.
If you are still having issues after the troubleshooting step above, please post back and I’ll be more than happy to further assist you.

  • Text Message / Browser / Email typing lag

Ever since I bought the iPhone 3G, I've noticed that when im typing out a text message / an email / in a browser, or anything that involves typing, my phone just randomly decides whether it was to lag or not. Sometimes there is no delay in typing speeds, other times it sits there and lags for about 1-1.5 seconds on each letter you press (so you type out an entire sentence and then have to wait as the phone delays itself in typing).
Is anyone else having this problem? Is it isolated to the iphone 3G? Is it something about the 2.0 software?

This issue was introduced in firmware 2.0 and exists on first gen iPhones also. They did not occur with firmwar 1.1.4 or below.
Apple knows about that and hopefully fixes it in the next firmware release. Meanwhile you can switch your phone off and on again, which helps in most cases (at least for a short period of time).

  • Getting text messages from your computer

I left my phone at home today and I feel like its the end of the world. Is there a way I can set it up where I can get my text messages sent to my computer where I am at now until I get home? Kinda like call forwarding but text forwarding?

        Hi Chuck-Stick,
I was recently without my phone and felt so lost. Let's see what we can do for you. I do apologize for the delay in responding. You can go to www.vtext.com and log in and send and receive messages via our site.  We have also added a new feature that is awesome! It's called Verizon Messages, if you have an Android phone or even an iPad you can download the app and get your messages on multiple devices. Here is a link.http://vz.to/1aOnfRS Keep us posted if you need anything else.
