Text Message # displays instead of Contact

Text message contact name is not displaying... only their number. Despite having the contact name and number in "contacts". Also, i have confirmed the number is the exact same in contacts book as it is in the received text message. I am on Sprint and iPhone4S.
Any ideas/recommendations?

Even just going back to the list of converstatoins (button in top left) you will not get alert sound while in the App. Again, it assumes you are looking at it and seeing the indicators pop up for number of messages etc for each conversation.
You have to be out of the app for it to give a sound.
If you are not expecting a msg right away then why stay in it? Press home and go back to home screen and wait.

Hi...just got a new Curve 9360. The default text message display shows all messages i.e. if I've sent a text most recently that is what I see at the top. What I want it to do is show the SMS Inbox (which I can navigate to via the folder options, but I can't find a way to set it as a default). Do you mean that currently ALL of your email messages and SMS text messages are mixed in one folder when you view, and you want to see a folder on your homescreen of ONLY your SMS text messages? And your email messages in another folder?
If so, on your device, open that Messages folder > press the Menu key > Options > Inbox Management and check the box on "Text Messages", and save. That will put an SMS Text message folder on your screen.

I just bought an new ipad mini with wifi and cellular. Is there any way to send text messages to people and contacts that do not have iphones such as friends with blackberrys or a samsung galaxy smartphone.

Is there any way to send text messages to people and contacts that do not have iphones such as friends with blackberrys or a samsung galaxy smartphone from this ipad. Everytime I try to send a message to a person that does not have an Apple product ( Iphone or Ipad ) it comes up saying contact is not registered for iMessage and wont send it. I can only send them a message from my iPhone 4 instead. Do I have to install a new App from the App store to send these non iMessage cell users a message?

As has been said, the iPhone itself can't be hacked this way, as far as anyone currently knows.
Your Apple ID is another story. Any kind of online accounts can be hacked, and Apple IDs are no exception. If someone hacks your Apple ID, they could see all the data in the associated iCloud account, such as contacts, and could send those contacts texts that would appear to come from you. If that were to happen, you should see an alert on your other devices that your Apple ID is being used with Messages on a new device.
If you have not seen that alert, it's unlikely that this problem is occurring due to such a hack. In that case, it would be more likely that either someone has gotten their hands on your phone, or some other Apple device registered to your Apple ID, and has used it to send that message. Or that the person claiming you sent a picture is lying for some reason.
If you believe your Apple ID may have been hacked, you should change your password immediately (at appleid.apple.com). You should also seriously consider enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID.

Ugh I am not doing any of those things.
I do have alot of issues with my email getting hacked often, could that have anything to do with it?
I also do not believe my phone is jailbroken but to be honest I am not very smart with this.
Basically text messages (inappropriate) were sent to a person in my contacts...and a text message conversation was had for about 30 that I had no idea was even going on. I noticed it on my ipad later (they are synced and normally recieve all the same messages etc). The conversation then just ended out of no where.
Very odd...and I am nervous that someone has control over my phone.

Text Messages displaying contact phone number instead of name

How can I change the config so that incomming txt messages will disply the contact name instead of their number. For some reason, when I receive a call, the display will indicate the contacts name (this is good), however, with txt messages, it displays their number (would rather have the name).
So if Jane Doe calles me I can clearly see it's Jane Doe calling
When the same Jane Doe txt's me, the display reads their phone number

I had a problem similar to this on other phones, and it had to do with how the number was parsed. When you go into your contacts, is the number the exact same number as the number you receive SMS from? Friends and Family with this issue had it because they either didn't have the area code in front of the contacts number or for some reason, required a 1.

Also, go into your SMS history and long press on the number. It should pop up a wondow to save to existing contact.

In Messages, underscore displaying instead of contact's name

In Messages, for some reason recently some of my more frequent contacts are now displaying as underscores instead of their contact names. These same contacts still appear completely normal in the Address Book. In an attempt to rectify the situation, I removed everything in ~/Library/Messages/ where the message history and attachments are stored. Next I also removed ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook.* to force the Address Book index to be rebuilt. None of this has worked. Every time I try to send a message to my best friend, Messages will find the correct name. However, once I select his name, it appears as an underscore. This happens with about three or four other contacts as well. It is particularly annoying since now the conversations get mixed, almost as if they are all with the same person. How do I fix this? This is incredibly annoying as the underscore sync is starting to creep into my iPhone. It needs to be rectified...now...but how?

It certainly is a puzzle.
It is possible it is still a Font Clash rather that anything else about the Font itself.
However we could spend ages working through combination that you might have.
Helvetica Fractions is one that has caused iChat problems in the past.
If you have that Font turn it Off and restart Messages.
I would also use the "Restore Standard Fonts" item in the File Menu just in case something is missing that we are unaware of that is needed for Messages.
In the Contacts App > Preferences > Accounts how many accounts are active ?
Depending on the Accounts you list in System Preferences > Internet accounts you may list several choices here.
You may also show an "On your Mac" option if at one time you had the Address Book here first as it were.
If these fail to help then use the Finder > Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key and select the Library that appears.
In the Library go to the Preferences Folder and find com.apple.iChat.plist.
Drag this to the Trash and then restart the app.

Incoming Text Messages Allocated to Wrong Contact

I recently recieved my Zed10 back from warranty repair for an out of the box malfunctioning headphone port and am now experiencing an issues a thousand times more frustrating. The phone is now having issues when I recieved a text message in which it will assign it to the wrong contact. I've checked the contact information, there's no duplicated numbers, the number the text is coming from is only assigned to one contact, yet thru one SMS conversation, it may appear that I am talking with 3 different individuals, which is very confusing. Before I sent my Zed10 in I did a full backup, then security wipe. I received my exact same device back from warranty, updated to the latest OS, did a restore of my backup, and now this. I went thru and deleted all the SMS history, which seemed to resolve the problem, but after about an hour it has started again. Some of the numbers it is now showing as incoming texts are not even numbers of my contacts, yet I can keep the conversation going by replying to the actual contact on my phone (if I reply to the number that it's telling me the text came from, the person on the other end has no information of any text). Has anyone experienced this? Since we don't really have contact backup options in Link like we did in DM my next "fix" attempt will be to move my contacts to my SIM card and wipe the device... again. Very glad to have my BB10 back after 2 weeks on a Curve 9300, but this is VERY frustrating.

I can't receive text messages from only 1 contact

The past two days, I haven't been able to get the texts that were sent to me from only One Person. I tried the *228 number, and I also tried taking the battery out and resetting my phone. Someone please help me fix this ASAP!

The fact that this text messaging issue is isolated to only one contact indicates that your phone is able to send and receive text messages successfully on our network and the issue needs to be addressed by that particular contact and his/her wireless provider. Please have your friend contact his/her wireless provider for any text messaging issues on their end.

TS2755 all of my contact "names" that appear on my text messages have now become contact numbers. I prefer the history to show the name rather than the number. how do i convert this setting back to names?

Hello, my phone has just changed a setting and I am unable to figure out how to change it back. Historically my text messages are saved and stored by "contact name". Now they appear by "contact number". I prefer contact name and would like help with how to restore or return to the original setting.

This happened to me too, and my pictures dissapeared. If you click the number, a drop down menu will appear and you can choose add to exisitig or create new contact. 50% of the time I am able to see the contact in my list the other %50 I have to create a new contact. When you do either of these the name will show versus the number. I think this is a bug with the latest update.

Text message vibrate instead of alert sound

i am in a text message conversation screen (as opposed to the main message screen that lists my messages), and my phone ringer is on with vibrate activated. however when i receive a text message within the conversation, it only vibrates with no sound alert. is this normal?

Unable to send or receive text message from a few contacts

Text Not Delvered on a few contacts on my iPhone 5. deleted contacted and added it back in. Same error. rebooted phone, disable imessage, reset phone all settings. same issue. Contacts can't even text me.

I deleted the contact from my phone, waited an hours and tried to send to the phone number, which is not an Iphone, same issue. I can call him with no problem.

TS2755 Why cant i load earlier messages when im looking at text messages with a certain contact?

whenever i try to load earlier messages with one of my contacts it only shows a couple more of the previews texts we sent using both imessage and normal texting. Then i tried deleting a couple of our texts and tapped on load earlier messages it would show a few more. But it only does this with one contact and theres plenty of space left too so thats not the problem, how do i fix this??

I disagree, the old way was worse. If you were searching for a particular text or photo and didn't know exactly when it was sent, each time more messages loaded below the button you would have to scroll down through that new batch to see if the text was there. And if it wasn't, you'd have to scroll all the way back up through the same messages to get to the button again. Plus, each time you loaded more messages and scrolled through them, you'd have to remember where the previous batch ended so you wouldn't keep searching through the same messages over and over.
The new way is much more logical. Load more equals "load more from this point". However, I agree that more control over how many messages are loaded, or ways to narrow your search, would be better.
Besides, there is a super simple solution to your complaint. Tap on the time at the top of the screen to automatically scroll back to the top of the list (and the buttons). If you're really in a hurry, use one finger to hit the button and another to hit the time.
There does seem to be an actual problem though. After I click the button a few times, it starts scrolling back to the very bottom of the list instead of staying at the same point. That's not the new way (stay at this message) or the old way (scroll to the top) and is obviously useless.

Actual Text is displayed instead of Barcode in PDF report

Hi All,
I have used the Java class "oracle.apps.xdo.batch.DocumentProcessor" to create a PDF report. The "rtf" template contains barcode , When generating the report from standalone the PDF file contains the actual value instead of the Barcode.
I have used the font "3OF9.TTF"
Please update if anyone know the solution.

According to your description, my understanding is that when you click the item in Managed Navaigtion to a Page, the Page title space displays as the "%2520".
The issue is related to the html element is being double encorded, here is a similiar thread for your reference:
