Can someone tell me how to set up a text message read receipt on a Nokia 6030? So if I send someone a text I will get a text message back once they have received it. Thanks

There are other codes that you can type at the beginning of the message if you want confirmation, I'm not sure of them all..
02 = *0# (Star Zero Hash) No need to put a space after before your text

In order for a message to be sent as an iMessage, both parties have an active data connection. If one or both of you doesn't, then the message will be sent as a regular SMS (assuming you have it set that way). Only iMessages will give you the "Delivered" update. SMS do not.

How do I have text messages read to me automatically?

I have the new IPhone 4S with Siri. I have figured just about everything out except for 1 thing. I was under the impression that you could set it up so that incomming text messages are automatically dictated to you by Siri when they are received without any intervention. First, is this possible? Second, what are the steps to make this work?
For example, lets say my girlfriend sends me a text that says "How are you doing?" Is there a way to set it so that the text is immediately read to me when it is received?

The video you remember seeing was of a blind woman who was using the accesibility feature "Voice Over" to have all notifications read to her. As far as I know, you cannot set Siri to only read incoming text messages automatically but you can set the phone to read all incoming notifications.

If so, is it happening with all texts from this person or is it an intermittent occurrence?

Since this is only happening with the one TMobile customer I would have them contact TMobile in order to have a trouble ticket filed. Have your friend also try to send a message to someone else to see if they can reproduce the message.

I am switching to mac from windows. One of the things I am missing is how to request an automatic "message read" receipt from the recipiant after they have opened the email. Thanks for any help

OK guys, here is something that you may like. Please copy the following text into the Applescript editor, compile it and run it and have fun with all those nice return receipts ...

This script is based upon the Standard Apple Script "Create New Mail" located in the folder
/library/scripts/Mail Scripts. I have deleted the unneccesary parts (at least for this purpose).
The script assumes that you multiple mail identities (accounts), so as in the original script,
the modified script asks you to select the account from which the email should be sent.
The rest of the script I've either deleted or is pretty much the same as the original.
The only "innovation" you see in line 22. Since we know the sender through the selection procedure,
I afterwards added a new line "\n" and then the required headerline (Disposition-Noticiation-To:)
together with the senders email that we already know. Please take care that theSender that
comes out of your address book doesn't contain single or double quotation marks. In this case
the mail will be sent out but the recipient will see no receipt request. When you compile this routine
- what you definitely have to do - you will see that "\n" vanished and the rest of the former line
(Disposition-Notification-To ...) is now in line 23. Don't worry the \n that forces a new line in the outgoing
mail is still there and active.
Now you have to add a new rule to mark the mails where you have requested a Notification.
Within "Create New Rules" you have to edit the header and add a new Headertype named
"Disposition-Notification-To". The rule is simple: if a mail contains an @-sign in this headerline
colour it as you like. Now you not only will see within your sent items the mails where you have
requested a return receipt from addressee but also in the Inbox the mails where the sender
asks you send him a return receipt
After the script has been compiled and saved you can run it from within the editor. You will se blank
email window poping up. Now just write your email select the addressee and that's it.
The script below is an example for "New Email & Receipt" If you want to be perfect you can do the
same with "Answer & Receipt", "Answer to All & Receipt" and "Forward & Receipt" and by using iKey2
or something similar you can run those scripts from an external menu or Hot-key. If you like you can
try to start the script(s) from within Mail Act-On. But my Apple Mail always crashes when I tried to do this.
This has been tested on Intel Mac under 10.4.7 together with Exchange 2003 and Exim as a Mailserver

Turning on or off message read receipts only affects iMessages. Therefore, it has nothing to do with what's happening between you and someone who has a non-Apple phone. Therefore, either one or both of your carriers provides such a feature for SMS. This feature is can be enable by third party messaging apps on Androids. There's nothing you can do about that.

The only way to get the text back to your phone is to restored your phone from a backup, if those text message were included in the backup.

Are you using a different Apple ID than you used when you created the iCloud backup?
Are you using a different telephone number?
Are you using a different cellular carrier?
I believe any of these items would cause you to lose your old text messages.

Hey Guys, well yesterday I got my Iphone 4 and activated it earlier today with a T-Mobile micro sim card and after I entered in all of my contacts , I tried to send a text to my friend but it failed and it noticed that when tried to send it the text color was green then i sent another text to a different friend and this time it was blue. Yes, you can send texts to Android, etc. They will all be green as you say above. But text messages are at the discretion of your cellular carrier. You have to have a plan in place with them to send/receive (green) text messages.

Can you restore text messages from Verizon Cloud to a Samsung Stratosphere?

I pocket erased all my text messages. I have them backed up to the Cloud supposedly, but can't figure out how to download them back onto my phone. Went to a Verizon Wireless store today and they were useless. They didn't know anything about using Cloud. Looking online here, it appears that I should be able to select them and restore them, but I don't have the download option when I'm in Cloud.

I spent about 15 minutest trying to have the same question answered by the Verizon tech support people. The first answer I received was that it was not possible to restore the messages. When I asked why the Verizon Cloud offered the option to save messages, I was told to hold. About 5 minutes later, I was told that I had to open the Messages app and wait for the messages to download. I had done that for two hours and nothing....Finally, I decided to save all the messages on the phone's SIM card using the Messages' "Save Conversations" option. I then, transferred the SIM card to the new phone, told it to "Restore Messages from SIM card and viola. All the messages were restored. I hope this helps. Until Verizon figures out the glitch in their app, this is the best way to restore your text messages.
