TEXT MESSAGE SOUND PROBLEM

I just updated to the 6.0 bundle and now my pearl does not play a sound when I receive a text message. The option to even change the tone it is supposed to play is gone out of the menu. I have tried restoring and re installing the software and resetting the device numerous times. Sometimes it will come back for a short amount of time then disappear again. I also get the error message uncaught exception:java.lang.nullpointerexception from time to time. Anyone else have this issue know of a PERMANENT fix? I am ready to throw it under a moving vehicle. Thanks

Text message sound disappears

I have an issue.
All the sounds work fine but sometimes I put it into silent mode because of a meeting. When I switch it out of silent mode though, the text message sound doesn't always reappear although the ring tone does.
It doesn't always happen but the only way to resolve is to go into sounds and reselect the sound which is tri tone for me.
I have tried all sorts of variations to try and make it happen every time but just when I think I have found the step by step procedure for replicating it, it doesn't work.
Is this something apple are aware of? Have other people experienced it with the latest firmware?
Is there a channel to write to apple directly to report bugs?

Typically this is due to an OS bug and the fix is to restore the phone...
First, you can try restoring iPhone via the "Restore from back up option" There is a chance that this is not going to work since the back up will include the "bug" you're trying to get rid of... but there is a small chance it will work.
If not then the true way to get rid of an OS bug is to do a full restore using "Set up as new iPhone" the difference being that you need to back up outside data like contacts, calendars, notes, etc... since stuff like texts, user settings and POP3 mail inbox items are lost... it takes longer to do this but is really the only way to get rid of the OS bugs for sure...

Text message sound going off randomly

The sound of an incoming text message is constantly going off on my phone. I am not receiving new messages. I checked and it does not appear to be my other apps. Any ideas?

Does the os4 update allow text message sound to be customized?

I have waited all this time for the update now I would like to know if it will include the ability to customized the text message sounds? Or have new ones to choose from???????????????????

It would be really good to have the ability to have to be able to create message sounds, similar to custom ringtones. Not much of a choice on the installed sounds, and with 5 members of staff in the office all having the same chosen sound on their phone for messages, it is annoying to look at the phone & find that it is not yours making the sound. Customisable sounds would be brill. Can this be possible in a future update, please.

Nokia 3250 v4.14 Text Messaging Font problem

Does anyone who have upgraded to v4.14 experienced having the text messaging fonts written in bold? The previous versions writes these fonts in standard size as it was.

I upgraded my 3250 today and didn't find any difference in the text size or the sound quality, but then I never had any problem with my 3250 earlier - touch wood. There was a nice extra theme though.

Help, I ehave iphone5, boyfriend has Motorola Android, I can send him texts, with and without photos, he receives them right away. When he sends me a text, with or without pictures, I get nothing until I do a hard shutdown of my phone and when it comes back on, messages older than 4-5 hours pop up. Sometimes they don't arrive at all and he is forcecd to use email.
Please tell me how to fix this problem. I have gone through Technical Support many, many times, resetting networks etc., trouble with voicemail, now getting text messages "blank" from Unknown. AT&T says it is there software problem. I have had so many problems since receiving this phone, on-going daily calls to AT&T.
Can anyone out there help me with the issue of being able to receive text messages from my boyfriends Anroid?

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage. There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

Text message sound on 3gs

when you receive a new text message, does it sound weird. almost like it's too loud or the speaker is blown. i've had the original and 3g iphone and none of them sounded this way.

This is an important topic. I am having the same issue. Using the default sms alert sound, it sounds like the speaker is blown. But when my phone rings, or when I put someone on speaker, it sounds fine. So I know it is not a blown speaker. This has to be software related: the tone does not play nice with the speaker: the decibels are way too high.
I am sure a software update will correct it, among a few other little software bugs I have noticed with OS 3.0. But overall, it is just so much faster and better than my 1st gen iPhone, I am not looking back.

Iphone makes text messages sounds without any reason

I have iphone 3gs with iOS 5.0.1
So several times a day it makes sounds like text message came, but there're no new text messages there.
What can cause it?
It started happening a week ago or so, I didn't have this weird issue before.

On the advice of 2 Apple technicians I have restored the software to factory twice. No difference, just now with the iPhone on a table, the ringer menu came up and the volume went to zero.
The last restore is not complete after 18 hours, as my local wi-fi times out interrupting the restore from iCloud.
Apple said the retail outlet would replace the iPhone if i quoted the case number. However Future shop in Grande Prairie Alberta, said that they couldn't help as Apple does not permit them to make the swop.
The next tech said Apple would either
1. send me a shipping box which I would return to Apple with my iPhone, they would replace it within 10 days !
or 2. I give them my Credit card number and they will send me a replacement phone, on receipt of the old phone the credit card numbers would be deleted.
Not very happy about this.

Is anyone else STILL having problems getting text message sound alerts even

i got some text messeges tonight but my phone stopped giving off a sound.....it just lit up.......i was hoping the update would have fixed this

I had something like this happen to my phone. I restarted my phone (holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time) and that seemed to help the problem.

HT204389 Mail & Text Message Sounds Gone When Using Siri

The confirmation "vwoop" or "swoosh" that would annunciate a message or text being sent by Siri stopped working. I am blind so this feature is important to me.
I took my phone to an AT&T corporate store and they had a replacement sent to me. The problem remains even with this new iPhone, and after further investigation it appears this may be related to an iOS update, as others I have spoken with also say they lost that sound after Siri sends a msg or text. This phone is running 6.1.2. Is this a bug or what? Will this be addressed in an update?

I have tried all the common suggestions...check Do Not Disturb/done silence button/done, insert and remove headphones check or debris/done, Notification Center/done. So the only thing that showed a ray of hope was to put phone on charger and wiggle it as you remove it. As I removed the charger from phone the volume arrows on the "now playing" screen would show and I'd hear music for a moment, then silence.

Hi,
i've had your issue in the past and solved it as you; now I'm having another kind of problem (even if i plug in my earphones the situation doesn't change); But yesterday evening i've cleaned againg the charging serial port at the bottom of the device with compressed air and a toothbrush and the problem seems to be definetely solved

IT WORKED!
I had cleaned the charging port with a soft toothbrush only, to no avail. I thought I would try your suggestion, adding the compressed air. Mind you I was truly frustrated after trying all the other suggestions with NO results.
