how can i stop my text messages appearing on my wifes & sons ipod touch?
we have 1 itunes account which i assume must be the problem.

i have an ipod(couple of them) that are my kids and an ipad and the new iphone. when text messages are going in or out they seem so show up on all devices. is there a way to fix that or do i need to get seperate accounts for the iphone.

I'm very desperate, my mom is getting my text messages on her cell phone and i can go on her phone and uncheck my number but she can always go back and check my phone number back and start reciving my messages again. How do I prevent her from doing that/get my number off of there so she cant get my texts on her iphone anymore? I've called at&t and apple AND gone into the at&t store and even created a new apple id but she still gets them. Someone help me PLEASE.
P.S. I am 22 years old so you can imagine my frustration...

We have an iPad, an iPad mini, and iPhone. When I text my husband the text message appears on the iPad. When my daughter texts with her iPad mini it shows up on my iPhone. Help!

HT3529 Text messages appear as phone numbers

Text messages appear as phone numbers rather than as names

I have noticed that if you go to the edit button, and if you haven't deleted any of the texts from that number.>tick Edit> tick on one of the texts circles> Delete it> Scroll up to top of all texts, and a Add Contact will appear//Create New or Add to Existing.
Hope that's what you need.

When attempting to log into Facetime the following message appears "the registering device does not have appropriate credentials"

Hi there
I've been trying to log into my facetime, i put in my apple ID and passward but once i click "sign in" the following message appears "the registering device does not have appropriate credentials".
I have installed all my software updates, made sure my apple ID email is verified, have made sure my date/time/time zone is correct as suggested in other posts but this hasn't worked. I've also tried to delete and re-install facetime but this hasn't worked either.
Please advise me on what i need to do

make sure you're not signed into icloud on both devices - this is usually the cause of this issue

Shared Apple id, Daughters text messages appear on my phone too.

My Daughter and I share an Apple id and her text messages are appearing on my iPhone. On one hand this is not neccessarliy a bad thing. If I delete these messages on my phone that are actually hers, does that also delete them off of hers, too?

why do text messages from other family members being received on multiple iphone 4's. Also, on an itouch device? How do you eliminate this from happening?

Message forwarding across multiple devices

I saw an sms message come through on the lock screen of my partners iPhone, it stated his iCloud address at the top.
What I'm trying to work out is if it was a message for him, or one he'd sent on another device but then shouldn't it say the senders name or is it possible he sent it and he had some sort of multiple device thing set up from either his mac or ipad that forwards on. When you send a message and you have forwarding on will it be displayed on other devices with your iCloud address. Just need to work out if this was a message he sent out or a message was sent to him.
It had a green icon so it looked like an mms message.

iMessages can be received through either email accounts associated with the Apple ID, as well as a phone number. The notification which appears is green, as it is the icon for the Messages app.

I connected two ipod touches to my iphone itunes account and now text messages appear on both touches

I recently purchased two touches for use by two children. I used my itunes account and named each device seperatly. I cannot figure out why when I text one device, the message appears on both. Also, the address book is also synching in the cloud and is the same on both devices. Do I need to use different itunes accounts or is there a setting I missed that makes them seperate, likea phone would be?

I was able to only put the applications from my account on each specific touch (I have a iphone 4g). So, if I want to text and facetime without it coming up on both touches at the same time, then I will need to synch with a unique Itunes acocunt then?

Can no longer send long text messages to an android device

In the last month, whenever I send a relatively long text message to a non iPhone user (Galaxy s5), that person will not receive the message at all. On my screen it says that the message was sent, but they are not receiving it. I used to never have this problem before. After a while, I went into my settings and put on the character count option to see if it would help me. I realized all my messages over 160 characters would not be received, and all messages with an emoji that have over 70 characters would not be received. This is really frustrating and I would love if someone could help me see why this is and if there's any way to fixing it.

This is really strange behavior, Edgar08. I want to make sure those messages reach their destination. Have you noticed if this is affecting a specific contact or multiple contacts? What iOS is your phone on? Settings>General>About>Version.

HT4623 I recently switched from an original ipad to the ipad air. Now when people text me, the messages go to my cell phone and to the new ipad. I don't want my text messages going to both devices. How can I change this?

Is there a way to stop receiving my text messages on both of my devices? I have an ipad air and an iphone. People text my phone number and it goes to my phone and the ipad, but this only started happening when I upgraded from the original ipad to the ipad air.

If you do not want the text messages to go to the iPad (that is what I assume from your post) go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>uncheck your iPhone number in there. Do this on the iPad.
You can always just turn messages off as well in Settings>Messages>iMessage>Off.

When I connect my iPhone to iTunes the following message appears:Apple mobile device service isn't started

With the imessage app that is pre installed on the device it only works with idevices. But there are many free apps for texting. For example text free is a great one.

An iPad is not capable of natively sending an SMS or MMS messages. Those services require a cellular voice channel connection, and a data tablet is only capable of a cellular data channel connection, not a voice channel connection.
If you have an iPhone, under the settings on the iPhone you can enable forwarding with your iPad - where the iPhone actually sends and receives the SMS texts and shares them with your iPad.
Otherwise, you will need to use an app and internet service like the telegram messaging app. Or you can send emails to the persons cell phone via their carriers texting gateway (e.g. [email protected] if they use AT&T in the USA).
iMessages between iOS apps are separate from SMS texts as iMessages use Apples internet service and equipment. But the SMS protocol crams a short text message into the residual bandwidth of a cellular phones voice channel and cannot be sent over a cellular data connection.
