Text messages aren't delivering to iPhone

Hello,
Here's a unique situation. In just the past couple of weeks, I've noticed that text messages are delivering irregularly to my iPhone 5. Very few come to my iPhone but most deliver only to my MacBook Air. I downloaded OS X Yosemite to my Air and iOS 3 to my iPhone when both first came out and the new function worked perfectly. Texts came to all of my devices and I was able to write/reply to messages on either my iPhone or Air.
The only change is that I travelled internationally a couple of weeks ago and enabled international roaming on my iPhone. I really need all texts to deliver to my iPhone soon. Any ideas? Could this be a problem originating with my data provider?

Did you try to restore your new phone by using the backup of your old 3GS?

Your SMS history is part of the backup.

In order for a message to be sent as an iMessage, both parties have an active data connection. If one or both of you doesn't, then the message will be sent as a regular SMS (assuming you have it set that way). Only iMessages will give you the "Delivered" update. SMS do not.

Check that iMessage is turned on in Settings > Messages and that the Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive is correct, along with your phone number and email account(s).

No text message forwarding option in my iphone 5 ios 8.1

I have downloaded the latest ios 8.1 on my iphone 5, and osx yosemite in my macbook. But i still dont have a "TEXT MESSAGE FORWARDING" option in my iphone 5.
I have already included my icloud email in the send and receive options. but i still dont see any text message forwarding

You may want to make all of the settings are configured properly on your devices. Take a look at the article below for more information.

To use Continuity for SMS and MMS on your iPad, iPod touch, and Mac:
Update your iPhone to iOS 8.1 (when available).
Enable iMessage on your Mac and iOS devices.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on Text Message Forwarding.
Your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac will display a code you can enter on your iPhone to verify the SMS and MMS feature.

Just the name? Don't ever recall that being a feature. However, for Mail and Messages (and a few other apps): Settings app > General > Text Size

Another thing to remember is the phone is actually usable for 911 calls and maybe others. Not a real good idea. Especially for a child.
It would depend however on the age of the child.

That would be imessage and not text message.
As stated by sberman, it's because the users are sharing apple id.
On each devices - settings - message - send&receive- remove or uncheck the apple ids.

You need the same number, and you have it. I think it also has to be with the same cellular carrier.

Both of yall need to go to settings, meassages, send and recieve, scroll down to start new conversation from, and make sure you have different email addresses with a check mark beside it. Right now sounds like they are the same email addresses.

Cannot be done.

Is there a way in which you can deliver messages only through iMessages and not text messages . If the other iphone user has switched off the data services then the message gets delivered when the user switches on the data services.

I want messages to be delivered to the other person only through iMessages . Is there a way to disable text messages being sent to the other iphone .

In message settings, disable the send as SMS setting. That does mean any message sent to a non-iMessage enabled device will just not get sent.

My text messages aren't saying delivered or that they have read them

I have gone into my settings and made sure the send read recieve is on. the imessage is on. Two days ago it would allow me to see when people were texting me back and when it was read and delivered. I don't remember changing anything so what could be the issue?

It can be very frustrating when people don't receive your messages. Let's look into this and get this fixed immediately.
Was this a one time event or is it an on going problem? What type of device do you have? Do you have a signature on your device or the person that you are replying to? A signature could be "sent from Joe's phone" or a smiley face or symbols. If so please remove and retest. Have you tried SuzyQ suggestions?
Please delete all old text messages and retry. Please let me know if you are still experiencing this issue and we will further troubleshoot with you.

One of my contacts is unable to receive my text messages since I updated my iPhone 4s?

Since updating my iPhone, a few of my contacts have been unable to receive my text messages? One of the contacts originally had an iPhone but changed device before I updated, I was able to send and they were able to receive text messages prior to the change, the problem has arisen since update? More recently another contact who also has an iPhone is now unable to receive my text messages? Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so what did you do to resolve it? Thanks.

Wow this definitely sounds like strange behavior and something we need to investigate further. I want to find out, on your iPhone 5, do you have any signatures set? When you send text messages, do you include any emoticans or special characters? These aren't compatible with all type of devices and networks so we want to eliminate any causes of the trouble. If you do have anything like this set please remove the items and test the texting communication again. We look forward to hearing back to get this resolved.
