Text messaging is showing up as my email address?

I am not recieving text messages and when I send them - they are showing up as my .me email account to people. Any advice on how this happened?

iMessage uses an email address if you set it up that way in Settings. SMS and MMS use only phone numbers.

I assume your phone is using your phone number. Select an E-Mail also. Under the Select Area a new Area should show up offering to choose whether to use the number or the E-Mail to start new conversations. Pick the Phone number. Go to iMessage and start new conversations.

another way to change it is :
go to settings -> phone -> my number (iput your phone number)
and then do what razmee209 said,
after you change it, your phone number will authenticate with the operator that you use,

Copy that voice memo, create a new email and paste it and send it to yourself! You can save it to your computer now and send it to someone else

Not all forwarded text messages are making it to my email

I forwarded 4 text messages from my phone to my email. 3 of the messages made it to my email. The fourth one has yet to show up and I tried 4 times. 3 time yesterday and once (so far) this morning. Anyone know why this happens? This isn't the first time that it has happened.
I do not have a data plan on my phone.

This isn't the first time that this has happened. The last time, I contacted Verizon and they were of no help. They couldn't tell me why.
I tried to forward that text a little while ago and it has never made it to my email. I give up. I wonder why 3 texts forwarded and one didn't. It's a mystery to me.

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both of your phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on the other phone tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so both phones are using a different Apple ID for iMessage). Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores. It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.

yes, on each device go to
settings>Messages>Send&Receive and select appropriately.
Remember that this only appliesx to messages from the messages app, you cannot sync sms/mms messages received on an iphone.

It has to do with his settings in iMessage. His iMessage has to be activated and it has to show his phone # as the "start conversation from".

As ckuan said, there's no way to mark messages as urgent from the phone. So, either your carrier is doing something and you'll need to contact them or it't something on the other end. Is it just one person who's seeing your texts as urgent? Or everyone?

If you mean the settings for iMessages where you can specifiy an email address other people with iMessage can reach you at, that has nothing to do with email. The iMessage still goes to the Messages app and there is no way to autoforward from that app.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like Facebook imported to your contacts. I have the Xfinity app on my new ipad, too, but none of my stored contacts from the online version are showing, only what I manually entered into the iPads contacts are there. When I did add the FB app, I did not grant it permission to push and pull from my ipad (not a fan of FB knowing every detail about me), so that may be where our difference lies. You could try to open the app and change your privacy settings, or delete it and then reinstall without granting permissions to integrate.
I'm sure someone here with a lot more knowledge then me can probably diagnose your issue better, though. Good luck!

How do I get Messages to stop sending from my email address instead of my phone number?

I've had several people tell me that texts I've sent from my iPhone have been showing up as <myemailadd>@mac.com instead of my phone number. It started doing that under iOS7. I don't want my email address sent with my phone-originated texts. I don't want my email address broadcast to people that shouldn't have it.
So what do I need to change to make sure that phone texts originate from my phone number, home texts show my email address, and both are viewable on both my iPhone and iMac?

I think its fixed. I had to sign iMessages in on my Apple ID, but then deselect my email addresses to make it behave the way it should. Now if I could get iMessage to only send response alerts to the last device I used, instead of late night texts going to every device I own in the house and waking everyone up.
For some reason, the free iCloud address I automatically received (when Apple was trying to force people to leave Mac.com) is "hardwired" into iMessage. People were also getting texts from that address even though I was on my phone. I tried to delete it but iOS tells me I can't. I don't use that address, I won't ever use it, too bad I can't make it go away.
