Text misaligns when a pdf preview is created

Some headings on a page that appear correctly aligned on my monitor screen become misaligned when I make a preview pdf of a book. No matter what adjustments I make the text does not correct yet the opposite page with a similar layout is fine. The text was moved in from the edge of the text box to line up with an image but otherwise is standard.Any suggestions?

I used the spacebar to shift it across so you are probably right - there must be a change in the proportionality when text is moved away from the edge of a text box.Curiously though this does not show up on screen. I sent two screen capture shots to show what was happening to Print Services (who were sceptical) and they agreed that something is obviously happening in the background that does not show on screen. By to and fro ing between the preview pdf and screen text I can now just about get everything right, but the screen text then looks off. Crude, but I can't see any other solution.
Thanks anyway.

  • Xref table is missing when a pdf file is created with acrobat distiller 9.0.0

    Hi
I created a pdf file with the new acrobat distiller 9.0.0 and i noticed that the xref table is missing in it.
Whereas the pdf files which created in older version (acrobat distiller 7.0.5) had the xref tables.
As i have written a perl script to open the pdf files (used a ready made module downloaded form cpan.org). The script works fine with all old pdf files but fails when it tries to open the pdf files created with distiller 9.0.0.
Could i know is any thing changed on acrobat distiller 9.0.0 ?

  • Preview erases my text input when saving PDF

I'm filling out some pdf forms but when I press save all of my input text disappears.
    Any info on this?
    Thanks!

This isn't helpful enough. I'm running into this exact problem, with tax forms from the IRS. The PDF's are marked as giving me full permissions. I can say "save as", and the result is an unedited copy of the original file.
So I found out what's going on with the tax forms, at least.
The IRS is using an outdated form preparation program. They even state that their output is compatible with, and will save with edits on Adobe Reader 7 or 8, but not with reader 9.
Is there any way to override or remove the security settings in the PDF file? I mean, if older versions of reader can save the changes, then it must actually be possible, merely a "This flag tells me to disable something that I'm perfectly able to do" in the program, so how can I either disable that flag or change the behavior of the program?
(At least in the USA's copyright laws, there is something called "Fair Use" that lets you do things that would otherwise be prohibited. To deny any form of Fair Use is to deny a protected right, which could get into legal challenges.)

  • Text Missing when using PDF Convert but OK when using print PDF

I am using Acrobat Pro 9 in Wnidows 7 and Microsoft Publisher 2003.
When I use the CONVERT command to create a PDF - it is missing all of the text on the master page.
If I create the PDF with the PRINT command - everything is OK.
PS: The same Publisher File on another computer using Acrobat Pro 8 works fine -  CONVERT or PRINT and no missing text
I prefer to use convert because sometimes the PRINT command drops some of the hyperlinks.

You're posting in the wrong forum, but you already know that...
In any case, if you're running XP (you didn't supply any info about your environment, which is critical), there's a Microsoft HotFIX patch for PostScript printers such as Acrobat to fix the missing text problem. Do a Google for "Framemaker hotfix missing text" to locate the patch.

  • Text missing when printing PDF

We're having a problem with printing PDFs to our networked large format Canon ipf8000 printer from our Mac Pros. We have two Mac Pros, both are having the same problem. When printing a PDF through Acrobat Pro that we have created using either from Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign, that contains live text information (font's are embedded as the applications do this by default when saving a PDF), none of the text will print. All graphics and images will print but text will not.
This initially started off as an issue where the printer would print some characters incorrectly, then this progressed to printing complete gobbledygook, to not printing any text at all.
We had thought that it may be a printer driver problem, but we recently just bought a new printer (same model, just an updated version ipf8300), and installed the new drivers for it and this issue still occurs on this machine.
Converting the text to outline before saving the PDF and sending it to print is the only solution we have found so far to get the text to print.
I have tried printing the same document from a PC, again using Acrobat Pro, and it has gone through completely fine, all text is present and correct, which leads us to believe it is a Mac related issue and not a printer related one.
Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix for the problem, other than what we are doing currently?

  • Text overlapping when viewing pdf in Safari

When opening certain types of pdfs from a link from a private site for work, some of the text is overlapping in the document. Particularly when there are bullets and tables. These are instructional documents that were originally created in InDesign with lots of steps, tables, bullets, etc. I opened several other pdfs from various other sites, all of the pdf's seemed to work seamlessly. What could cause these types of pdfs to malfunction on the iPad and how do I fix it?

If people can open the pdf directly from a link, then it is intuitive and does not have to be explained. If it has to be copy/pasted, I don't mind doing this personally (it is an extra, unecessary step besides the conventional "click on a link" method, hence the slightly annoying part), and while it is not hard, it would have to be something that is taught and communicated to other users - thousands of other users who due to the law of large numbers, many would forget or have issues, which results in support calls. The pdfs also frequently change, which rules out preloading anything.
It doesn't seem like too much to ask to have a decent pdf reader built in without depending on an app or adding a separate step.

  • Why are photos not appearing complete when in PDf/preview mode for purchasing a photobook?

Everything appears perfect in the project mode, but when I went to order I got an error message from customer support.  When I check the book in Preview my photos are coming up with scratchy white marks throughout.  Almost all are super hi-res so that shouldn't be the issue.  This is my first time with iPhoto, I usually have used Shutterfly, so am now concerned I just wasted 100 hours!

What size book? This has been reported doing extra large books - it has been reported to go away when the book size is reduced to large

  • Intermittent Problem of Corruption when printing PDF files

From time to time I have a problem with text corruption when printing pdf files. Text comes out one character alphabetically later.
For example, a file I printed yesterday contained the text "ONE WEEK VISITOR LICENCE". On printing it again today (on the same computer and printer), it appeared as "POF!XFFL!WJTJUPS!MDFODF". But another attempt immediately afterwards was correct. Here is a scan of the correct and incorrect printouts
I have had this problem intermittently over a couple of years, particularly with pdf files embedded as a frame in a web page.
I am using Adobe Reader 10.1.0 (but the problem has also appeared on earlier versions), Windows XP SP3 with all updates and an HP Deskjet 6980 printer on a wireless link.
    Any advice would be welcome

Not sure why this may be happening. But you can try printing the PDFs as an image, which should solve the problem. It may take a little longer to print but at least you will get a correct print.
You can do the same by Clicking on the Advanced button displayed on the Print dialog and checking the checkbox for "Print as Image".
Hope that this fixes the issue.

  • PDF Preview Handler Not Working in Outlook 2010

I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Outlook 2010.
Everything was working fine, until a few months ago when the PDF Preview Handler stopped working. I got the typical message that others were having with the issue with Adobe Reader 9. I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have also used Adobe Reader X. I have tried the little registry fix app that is supposed to fix this issue, but it states that my registry is already correct. Has anyone found a resolution for this issue with Acrobat X and Outlook 2010? As a workaround I am using the Foxit PDF Preview Handler, but I have to reinstall it everytime Adobe Reader or Acrobat is udpated as for some reason Outlook then reverts back to the PDF Preview Handler, which is not working.
    Thanks,
    Merg

Nope, using 32-bit. And I recently uninstalled Acrobat Pro completely and reinstalled it due to an issue with it not updating due to having the "Error Applying Transforms" issue. After I reinstalled, I updated it completely. I suppose I can try uninstalling and reinstalling again, but that seems like overkill.

  • In Preview, when I add text annotations to my PDF (lecture note slides), they look fine until I close it and reopen it, and then they are rotated 90 degrees. How do I fix this and keep it from happening again?

In Preview, when I add text annotations to my PDF (lecture note slides), they look fine until I close it and reopen it, and then they are rotated 90 degrees. How do I fix this and keep it from happening again?

I have the same problem with lectures slides.
Furthermore, sometimes the text box, when doube-clicking, turns  the text into a one-liner. Causing the text box to sometimes get 3. times wider than the pdf itself.

By pressing [cmd + I] the Inspector opens up and clicking on the rightmost tab 'Annotations' you should be able find those Annotations again. I do this regularly to find the empty annotations I accidentally create while clicking through slides.

  • Jagged text when displaying PDF in Acrobat or Reader, not Preview

when viewing PDFs inside Acrobat 9 or Reader X, most fonts appear jagged, whereas they look perfect in Preview.  this problem persists, even at even resolutions like 100%, 150%, 200%, and 400%.  everything looks great when printed from Acrobat, Reader, or Preview, or when viewed at Preview.  not all fonts are impacted, i.e. text in some fonts looks great, but many fonts look jagged.
this problem is occurring on both iMac 24" (OS X 10.6) and MacBook Air 13".
any advice on how to correct this?
    thanks!

Try either using a utility such as FontNuke to remove font caches. Or Restart in safe mode, this dumps all caches even Font Caches. Then restart computer and try Acrobat.
In Office 2001 there is a real bad problem with having two versions of the same fonts causing problemss. Perhaps Acrobat has the same issues.
To see if this is a problem Try the fiollowing:
Do something such as above to dump Font caches.
Next, open Fontbook and locate and choose Resovle Conflicts.
Run Resolve conflicts, after Conflicts have found open each font that indicates a conflict.
click on get information see which is the newest.
Now disable the oldest version whether its installed by the system or by Adobe.
After all conflicts are worked through,  Quit fontbook.
Now go to both Main Library > Disabled Fonts & User Library > Disabled Fonts, remove to desktop.
now select all the fonts moved to desktop and archive them using either Create Archive  from Finder, or Stuffit Deluxe.
Remove the fonts either a CD/DVD  store the archived files.
Put originals in Trash and empty.
    Now Try Acrobat.

  • In Acrobat X Pro, fields are not showing up when previewing or creating Reader-enabled PDF

I have a form with many fields (217 in all). When I click "Preview" within Form Editing, I only see a small subset of the fields. If I save as a user-enabled form, that form only shows the same fields. Why aren't all of the fields showing up? Thanks!

Never mind. I believe I figured it out. I thought that setting the form field to "Invisible" just affected whether the box would be visible to the end-user, not whether it would be fillable at all. Now that I set all of the fields as "Visible but doesn't print" all of the fields show up.
