Text on a Jpeg, driving me loco!

I'm not a newbie, but I feel like one. I've added text to my jpg but now I cannot edit, move or do anything to my text. All I get is a very large cursor that will highlight 1 letter. I get the "I" to do text but I can't edit. I'm using photoshop 7.0. The layer is not locked by the way. Do I have an incorrect setting. Appreciate the help

JPGs can't retain editable text, so if you saved it as a JPG after creating text, the text is now part of the image and not editable. Look at your layers palette. If the text is editable, you'll see a big "T" in the layer's icon.

    I need to edit text in a jpeg file.  How do I do that?

    Unfortunately you can't. A JPEG is a flat raster (pixel-based) image file which has no awareness of "text" inside it. You could try to erase the text and graphic under it and then recreate the text, but it's best to do so using a mastering format such as PSD (Photoshop) or PXM (Pixelmator), so that you can export as JPEG but keep your layered master for later editing.

  • How can I quickly add text to a jpeg?

    Hi folks,
    I'd love to be able to just click on a jpeg and then add text to it. Preview Help says I can add text to an image by clicking Annotate and then Text, but I can't get anything to work. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone recommend a quick and easy way to add text to a jpeg?
    TIA,
    Renee

    Select the menu option Tools -> Annotate -> Add Text. The cursor should change to a "cross-hair". Use that to draw a rectangle, then type.

  • When I forward an HTML email with embedded graphics to someone, it forwards it as plain text.. this is driving me batty.. how do I forward such mails INTACT??

    I have the latest Thunderbird installed on a new 64-bit Winblows Eight netbook.. fantastic program, but one problem is driving me absolutely batty, and after using the latest Thunderbird for weeks, I simply can't figure out how to fix it..
    I'm on a lot of mfr. and other kinds of mailing lists, like eBay watch list alerts, and so on.. these are not s p a m (although I get plenty of that.. who doesn't).. but lists I WANT to be on..
    Many such emails from those mailing lists are in HTML format with embedded graphics.. I'm not talking about graphic file attachments, but embedded graphics which are coming from the senders' servers, and appear AS a graphic in the email.. sometimes such emails are one huge graphic with hardly any text.. all well and good..
    However, here's the problem.. when I want to forward such an email to a friend, Thunderbird ALWAYS formats it as plain ASCII text.. I know this because I look in the "sent mail" folder, and can see that it has turned an HTML email with embedded graphics into plain ASCII text..
    I absolutely can't figure out how to get it to forward an HTML email with embedded graphics INTACT, so the sender receives it looking the way it looks when I receive it from a mailing list, or an advertiser, or eBay, or whoever..
    Is Thunderbird capable of forwarding an HTML email with embedded graphics INTACT?.. If so, how / where do I turn on that capability?..
    If the capability to do this isn't built into the program, is there an add-on I can install that will give it that ability?..
    I am not new to computers.. but this really has me stumped.. I want to put Thunderbird on my 32-bit Vista laptop and stop using its horrible "Windoze Mail" program, which I've been using for years, and is slower than snot, and has all kinds of other problems..
    So, assuming whoever reads this FULLY understands my question, PLEASE tell me how to get Thunderbird to have the ability to forward an HTML email with embedded graphics AS-IS, so the receiver(s) I forward it to see it exactly the way I see it when I receive it.. if that ability is built in, please tell me how to turn it on.. if that ability is not built-in, please tell me what add-on I need to install to give Thunderbird this capability.. if Thunderbird absolutely can't forward an HTML email with embedded graphics at all, please also tell me that..
    A virtual box of candy and a dozen long-stemmed roses to anyone who can give me a solution that works..
    Thanks..

    Dear Mr. Toad (my all-time favorite ride at Disneyland ;-) ..
    Thanks so much for your detailed reply.. my netbook is in the bedroom, turned off.. I (so far) only use it in the evening, in the bedroom.. I've saved your response, and will try your suggestions, and let you know if they solve the problem I described. I really appreciate you taking the time to post such a detailed reply..
    I can't answer your Thunderbird "configuration" questions, because I'm in the living room, using the crap Vista laptop, on which I plan to install Thunderbird, and then take Windoze Mail out in the street and drive over it a few times.. I'll get back to you one way or the other, and let you know if your instructions solved the problem, or not..
    I don't understand why Thunderbird "out of the box", so to speak, simply doesn't forward HTML emails with embedded graphics, (like Outlook Excess, and Winblows Mail do).. without having to go through those steps. I personally HATE HTML email, but over the years, it's become more and more prevelant.. so it's a problem I must fix..
    Thanks again..
    Harv..

  • Drawing  text in a jpeg image

    Hi,
    I want to draw a string in a jpeg image file.The file will contain only that string.Anybody can help me suggesting the best way or any available program is there for it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Papu

    You can use the image functions in PHP to get the size of JPEG, GIF, PNG, SWF, TIFF and JPEG2000 images, and if you have the GD library (available at http://www.boutell.com/gd/) you will also be able to create and manipulate images.

  • Export selectd text as a jpeg

    Please review my code, i am not able to get all the indesign files information as per my code, i can export only first two files, then the loop repeatedly process the second file only,not getting 3rd and 4th...., Please advice.

    var myFolder=Folder.selectDialog("Select Indesign Folder");
    var myInddFiles=myFolder.getFiles("*.indd");
    for(i=0; i<myInddFiles.length; i++){
       var myDoc=app.open (myInddFiles[i]);
       var myRuleSet = new Array (new sample);
        with (myDoc){
        var element = xmlElements;
        __processRuleSet (element[0], myRuleSet);
    function sample(){
        this.name = "sample";
        this.xpath = '//*[@font="Medicine Symbols 1"]';
        this.apply = function (myElement, myRuleProcessor){
         with(myElement){
          var myframe = myDoc.pages[0].textFrames.add();
            myElement.placeXML(myframe);
            myframe.fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT);
            myframe.select();
            imageName = myElement.xmlAttributes.item('id').value+''
            $.writeln (filepath = myFolder+"/"+imageName+".jpg");
            myframe.exportFile(ExportFormat.JPG,new File(filepath), false);
    myDoc.close(SaveOptions.NO);

    Hi,
    I would not do the export of the frame within an XML rule.
    Without the export InDesign will create more than two frames.
    function sample(){
        this.name = "sample";
        this.xpath = '//*[@font="Medicine Symbols 1"]';
        this.apply = function (myElement, myRuleProcessor){
         with(myElement){
          var myframe = myDoc.pages[0].textFrames.add();
            myElement.placeXML(myframe);
            myframe.fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT);
            //myframe.select();
            //var imageName = myElement.xmlAttributes.item('id').value''
            //$.writeln (filepath = myFolder+"/"+imageName+".jpg");
            //myframe.exportFile(ExportFormat.JPG, new File(filepath), false);

  • Can Apple make it so texting is disabled when driving?

    The iPhone has GPS. Isn't this a simple application? At least make it a selectable option in iOS.

    How is the phone going to know the difference if you are the driver or the passenger? How is it to know you are not riding on a train or in a bus? I understand where you are coming from, but I guess if you put a restriction in the phone, like the restrictions that you can place now on certain applications, there is always an exception, as I listed above. And do you think that someone that has access to the restriction so it can be turned off and on, depending on like I said, driver or passenger, couldn't they just as easily turn it off?
    You logic is comendable, however this is a case of resposibility, not adding restrictions to the device.

  • How do I save a photo edited in photoshop with text added to a jpeg file that will create a poster quality image?

    You can't.
    The JPEG format is a lossy format and it also does not support layers.

  • "In Car" mode: to avoid texting while driving

    Simple solution to Avoid texting while driving.
    Just like we swtich on "In Flight" mode...there should be a "In Car "mode. It should do the following things
    1) Turn on Bluetooth...and sync with car.
    2) If you get a text while in this mode..there will be an automatic response to the text " I am currently driving and can not reply to your text message currently".
    3) It should disable you from actively texting.
    Thanks,
    Chinmay

    I love that I found this. I just bought a Honda CR-V and now have the Bluetooth through the car. I absolutely love it. I would love to see a automatic reply when a text comes in to say "I am currently driving, if you need an immediate response please call me so that I can use my Bluetooth". One thing I really love about having the in car Bluetooth, I don't even hear the text come over for some reason. It does not make the sound over the speakers unless I have my radio to Bluetooth for my music.
    Now the new Civic comes with a plug where it will read you texts and stuff. They need to make this plug compatible with all vehicles through the USB port in the car.
    Come on Apple geniuses you can do this.
    Thank you in advance.

  • How can I stop the sharing on the iPhones that are in the same account because its sharing every thing even text messages

    How can I stop the sharing on the iPhones that are on my account because its sharing everything even text messages and its driving everybody crazy

    An icloud account is designed to be used by one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
    If you have muitiple family members or friends using the same account as yours, then have them get their own Apple IDs and icloud accounts.
    If you mean you want to stop the sharing between all your devices, then on any one device, go to Settings>icloud and turn off the services you don't want that device to share/sync.  Or turn off icloud altogether if that's what you want.

  • Is there a way to trace back an indesign document from which a certain jpeg was exported?

    I have a jpeg image that was exported from indesign a long time ago. I no longer know where the indesign file is located or it's name, but I need to edit the text of the jpeg and the only way to do that is by editing the original indesign document and reexporting it. Is there a way to trace back an indesign document from which a certain jpeg was exported?

    Depending on how the text interacts visually with the image, it might be possible to use the fill property of the content-aware deletion feature of recent Photoshop versions to remove the text with little or no evidence of the deletion, then apply text over the graphic however you like.

  • How do I correct the text in a file made by another person

    I have a file made by a friend as a jpeg file whidh I have imported in photoshop 5. I would like to make some changes in the text in the file. How do I do it/

    Paint over the existing text to obliterate it and create new text over it.
    The text in a JPEG is rasterized and non-editable.
    Ask your friend for a layered TIFF or PSD file in which the text is still in vector form on its own editable layer.

  • How to alter project's dpi when saving and can you save as jpeg

    How can I save a project in pages to a jpeg to be uploaded for printing at an outside agency? I need to alter the dpi and the overall size of the file to enable enlargement.

    Judy,
    Yes, Preview has some  powerful tools for such a low-profile system app.  I use it all the time.
    The problem that I have with JPEG is how bad text looks after JPEG compression.  TIFF or PNG seem to me to be much better choices.
    Increase the zoom on one of your exports containing text and see what you think.
